Between Challenges Mixed CHAT Thread week 1 (07/30-08/05)
Hello everyone!
Welcome to the Mixed Chat Thread which is open to everyone new & old. Just a way to help us keep accountable until the Fall challenge starts later in August.
Leslie & Jacky will be posting the official results of the Spring into Summer Challenge here.
Hope everyone finished out the challenge on a good note and has been enjoying their summer. Hard to believe it's nearly over.
It's sad really I was just looking at my calendar today and realized (well already knew) that summer is closing fast and the the dreaded long seasons begin......summer only began
Well I'm looking forward to chatting with all of our returning challengers and meeting all of the new ones.
This is a great place for motivation and meeting a great group of people. I would like to say to that although we have separate teams in the end we are all here for the same reasons.....weight loss and support so make sure to take advantage of all the knowledge and ideas from both teams. That's what I like most about these challenges is learning from everyone and realizing were not alone in our struggles.
Have a great night everyone and a big CONGRATULATIONS to all of the biggest losers for the Summer Challenge.
Hello Everyone! What a great challenge that was. I'm really looking forward to the next one the end of August. I want summer to last forever but alas, it is not to be so. Bigmid, you and I shall mourn the end of summer together, lol.
I'm I the only one jumping up and down with joy at the end of summer? It is by far my least favorite part of the year...I just adore Fall.
Looking forward to the next challenge. I finally managed to get myself in gear towards the end of the summer one, and I'm hoping to keep the momentum doing during this little hiatus. My goal is to lose 7lbs between the challenges, so my Fall Back to Basics initial weigh in should be 204.6.
I must be all alone here, Arizona and Texas are Hot and my AC is acting up again, I'm looking forward to it cooling off. I thought when we moved to TX it would be a lot cooler during the summer but it's not much cooler and now we have humidity.
The challenge was great fun, it felt soooo good to complete one and it is really motivational to look back at where we were when we started and how far we came. Looking forward to the next challenge.
MonteCristo - we posted at the same time and I have to agree, hot summers aren't all that great ... as long as you live someplace where you have long wonderfully mild falls and springs.
Would it be possible to get an exercise thread posted until the next challenge starts? It helps me keep track and it is like a little reward after I exercise to be able to write it down on here.
I agree with zogo. I'd love to have an exercise thread and a nutrition thread as well. Recording the data really helps me to keep focused.
As for loving summer, you'd have to live where I do to really appreciate what I mean. Our winters are long and cut into both spring and autumn. Our very highest summer temps are about 30-32 degrees C (about 86-90 degrees F) and we only get those temperatures for a few weeks and not every day. Our evenings are cool and a sweater or jacket can be comfortably worn when the sun goes down. If I lived in a place that got as hot as it does where some of you live I wouldn't like summer either. But I do love summer.
I'm a summer lover too, Calgary has that effect. You'd think after growing up in MN and now living here, I'd like winter, but I'm coming to resent it more each year. I now understand why people become snowbirds! LOL
Oh I would so be a snowbird if I could afford it. Calgary winters are much to long. I'm hoping for a good one like we had this past winter. Not to much snow (would prefer none) and only about a week of the -30's
Well haven't exercised yet but lost a teeny bit more weight this morning. Off to Old Navy right after supper to get some longer running shorts. Last day of extra 25% off
Thanks Mel for posting all the new threads.
Retiredone in a few weeks we can be in official mourning together
I have lived in the SW for so many years (I was raised in NY State so I know of precious summer can be) and I really do just love the mild winters. In the Dallas area (it is still new to me here I've only lived here a couple of years) but you save a couple of "timebank" days (That is vacation/sick day pool) each year for a "weather event" and that way IF it snows or IF you get freezing rain than you just call in and stay home. It's grrreat. You get to enjoy the snow like you were in school again having a snow day. When I first moved here I stayed in an RV for a year and we had one day that dumped several inches, we were all out playing in the snow like a bunch of kids. Our neighbor, her son, my husband and I (DH & I are 60) were out having snowball fights and riding around on our ATV. Great fun. You can love snow when it is a treat. In Tucson, you could drive up to Mt. Lemon, play in the snow and then come back to town and warm back up. Talk about perfect. Snow when you want to play but no dealing with it when you need to drive to work. But of course the trade off is "The SUMMERS". Snowbirding would be the best life, the only draw back for me would I would want to switch between my two daughters and one lives in AZ and one in TX so I wouldn't get much of a break from summer heat, guess I need to plan on summering in Upstate NY or PA with my siblings.
Well 2nd day back to work after two weeks off. It's hard getting up in the mornings again. Weird seeing as there's only about a 1/2 hour difference but when I'm just enjoying coffee as opposed to getting ready it seems like a huge difference. Silver lining, I get two more weeks the middle of August
Did a workout today and ate well but feel kind of frumpy today. Shouldn't as I'm right on track. Maybe it's all work related. Need to win that lottery for sure.....need to buy a ticket first I'm sure.
Well off to do a couple things then off to bed. Goodnight everyone have a great day tomorrow.
Hi folks! I'm going to be new to the challenge this time around. I can't wait for it to officially begin!
Summer's ending here and I am 100% okay with that. The heat and humidity of Georgia are icky. I can't wait for the cooler fall temperatures so I can turn my A/C off for a while.
I'm knocking on the door of 25 lbs. gone, which is pretty cool for me. In my pat I've gained, lost, gained, lost, and gained all over again. This time though I want to stick with it and make all of these unwanted pounds melt away forever!
Can't wait to see who wins the summer challenge! Good luck to those who participated!
I just got home from a long weekend away, and was so excited to see I was the biggest loser for my team this week! Yay me! I ate a little too much 2 of the days I was gone, but now that I've synced my Fitbit I seem to have worked most of it off. I exercised every day while I was gone, which is a huge change from just 6 months ago. Today I tried something way different - I did my couch to 5K workout on the beach, barefoot. I was a lot slower, and I'm sure I'll be sore tomorrow, but I liked it a lot.
I'm with bigmid and retiredone, I do NOT want summer to end. I have a convertible, and I want that top down as much as humanly possible. And the heat doesn't bother me nearly as much as it used to. Although last summer was better than the year before, this year I'm handling it even better. And we've had a HOT summer - lots more 90+ degree days than usual.
Time to start some laundry, then off to meet friends with the top down!
Bigmid, feel free to come visit anytime, we always have an air mattress and room to put it down. For you snow bound, I cannot recommend highly enough a trip to AZ in Feb/Mar. It will make you feel like you cheated and snuck in a week or two of summer in the middle of winter. I use to do that when I lived in NM, take a weekend and head to Phoenix and what a treat. All I wanted to do is bask in the sun next to the pool.
HealthyMeWannabe, welcome. The summer challenge is the first challenge I ever actually completed. It has been really great to look at where I started and how successful the challenge was. I too am looking forward to the next one.
Riddy, where in Upstate NY do you live? I was born in Watertown and raised most of my life in the Fingerlake Region. I moved, shortly after I got married, about 35 years ago and have always wanted to go back. It is just so beautiful there. I have to admit, after being gone so long the thought of long winters have dampened my desire a little. That and having grown children rooted in the SW.
I really like these between the Challenges threads, it is nice to get to chat with everyone in a mixed forum.
