Well ladies I am off to see if I can fix my laptop and have a bath.. Huge to everyone!!

ars - i understand about the trigger foods, now it makes sense just before i read what your friend said, i was gonna suggest similar thing, about peanut butter hehe. and natural is even better! i had 1 teaspoon of peanut butter yesterday to give me some fuel for my workout. its like 50 calories and it does the job !
congrats on the whoosh!! and those sound like really tasty meals!

I've been working and working out so much I haven't had time to post here, so hugs to everyone. Keep up the good work!
LMAO babygrant for posting that. I was sooooooo happy last night I gave out a yell too. Justice prevails, no pun intended. Amazing that she gained weight 2 out of 4 weeks, lost 1 pound 1 week and lost 11 pounds another. I am sure there are thousands of other people who deserved a spot on the show more than her. It's a shame they didn't have the opportunity.
the confusing part about the 4100+ was just how many hours a day do you have to exercise to burn that many calories in a week. I can barley motivate myself to do the DVD. I wish I had a bike or treadmill that way I can still get in my TV watching but exercise at the same time.
I know this wasn't directed at me... (As I've been quiet!) but It takes me about 3 hours of additional purposeful exercise to hit 3000. I've only hit 4000 on a small number of occasions. 4000 is probably a bit much for an average person to target.
You might want to check craigs list or some other classifieds (or maybe even freecycle) for something used in the way of cardio equipment. Honestly time goes by much quicker when your watching a show/movie. Its a great way to fit in extra calorie burn.
good for you for working out hard Mercy! and i totally agree with what you said regarding BL.
idealmuse- thats a really good idea! i agree , its a great way to get in extra calorie burn, so instead of sitting on the couch you're moving and still get to watch your favourite show.
if you dont have equipment, what i do sometimes, i just march in place! any movement of the body wil make a difference
============
i was listening to a podcast this morning (cut the fat podcast) and they were talking about not eating carbs 3 hours prior to exercise. which i found quite interesting - something about the relationship between insulin and fat burning. (i'm going to do some further reading and research into this)
so i'm going to do a 3 week experiment, to see if that helps me to lose weight. starting today.
so either i'm going to workout first thing in the morning on an empty stomach (even though i know they say you shouldnt work out on an empty stomach, but i'm gonna experiment on myself, or have a light protein snack if i'm hungry and than wait 1 hour and half then workout).
will let you know how i get on. i'm a great believer on experiments and seeing what works what doesnt for yourself.
also going to cut down on refined carbs. and eat more veggies.
if anyone is interested i wrote out verbatim what the podcast was saying - see below:
Quote:
from cut the fat podcast (podcast 1 - near the end of podcast 1).
Separate meals that contain carbs for 5-6 hours. [*more on this below from another podcast]
doesnt mean you cant have carbs to lose fat, what it means is that you want to seperate any meal that has carbs by 5-6 hours. you want to seperate the two meals that have carbs by 5-6 hours, so if you have a meal and another meal 3 hours later, you want that 2nd meal to be a protein containing meal and not a carb containing meal because protein actually increases more glucagon and keeps insulin levels low. so you have your meal - lets say its a carb containing meal and insulin levels go up , than after 3 and half hours it drops, than you have another meal thats a protein containing meal, insulin levels remain low, and now lets say you have another meal 3 hours later with carbs, so between that 3 and half hour period and 3 hours later, thats all fat burning time. (so you've got 2 and half hours [of fat burning time]).
you never want insulin levels to be high when you're working out.
Keep insulin down as low for as many hours , insulin shuts down fat burning, if you’re eating a meal with carbs (excluding veg) you must wait 5-6 hours before having another carb containing meal, (can have a protein/veg/salad meal in between instead) that will allow more fat burning time
So as long as there’s insulin in your body you’re body will not burn fat. Insulin shuts down the fat cells, we want to keep down insulin as much as we can and the only way to do that is to cut back on the amount of refined carbs on a daily basis.
Spread out your carb meals, snack on protein or veg.
Advanced technique: don’t eat carbs prior to exercise (within 3 hours) why? If you have any insulin in your system, your body will not be able to access the fat cells for energy.
First thing if you’re a morning exerciser, do it on an empty stomach.
Key thing is don’t eat carbs within 3 hours of exercise. Need to give body time to get rid of insulin.
Once you finish your exercise, if you can, if your goal is fat loss, try not to eat carbs within 2 hours of finishing your exercise, because again what happens, you’re gonna kick insulin in the system, and immediately shut down the fat burning process and we want to take advantage of fat burning time as much as possible.
We want you to get out there, and build your own little personal laboratory and test things out. If we say “don’t eat carbs 3 hours before you exercise” give it a try, see what kind of result you get. Give it 3-4 weeks. Test everything, don’t accept anyones word as the word. Become the expert of YOU.
it will be an interesting experiment ! it might not work, it might not work for everybody, but i'm willing to give it a shot.
(edit tom just came - got cramps, so gonna take it easy)
In response to your post in which you state that Jillian Michaels recommends 2 days off I agree.
This is how she sets up a training week on her website:
Monday- Circuit training(weights and cardio)
Tuesday- Circuit training(weights and cardio)
Wednesday- off
Thursday- circuit training(weights and cardio)
Friday- circuit training(weights and cardio)
Saturday- CARDIO ONLY
Sunday -off
So you see that it's 4 days of circuit training, 1 day of cardio and 2 days off.
Hey there ladies.. just a quick check in on my lunch break. I am still doing well with getting in my 6 meals per day.. I feel quite driven by it actually.. I feel like it is really going to help with the weight coming off.. I hope you are all having a great day... big hugs to all and I will be back this evening!!
Echo - thanks for all the info I may look into getting a heart rate monitor that way at least I know what target I am working out in. I hope the new way of eating carbs works out for you. I know when I can work out in the morning I love it and I do it on an empty stomach as it works for me. Being a fitness instructor was fun. I was working as a receptionist in a gym and then I figured why not take the training. It was pretty fun to make up programs for people and to see their results. Time to look up some new podcasts online from the looks of things. Thanks
ars- I think I am going to buy a rebounder we sell one here at work and its only $60.00 so I don't think that is to bad. Not sure if it comes with a DVD though.
Idealmuse - thanks for the info it's nice to find out how many hours a week every one puts into their exercise to see the results. I should look up some used equipment in my area cheaper than buying new and depending on who owned it, it may have just been a clothes rack.lol
A big hello to everyone else I hope you are all doing well.
I woke up kind of *****y this morning and I'm not really sure why. Just in a little funk I guess. One more day of work and then I am off for 4 days so that should help a lot. I was up on the scale this morning too so I may not have actually woke up *****y but actually turned that way after seeing the scale. It is quite the blow losing 26lbs last challange and bascially nothing so far on this one. May have to shake up the routine a bit.

Nixmom- where are you?
I think you hit the nail on the head. Our bodies get used to a routine and adapts, so it's best to mix thing up. Keep your head up bigmid,it will come off, and your great attitude will help, after all you still here right?
Well, I woke up feeling great but that soon changed. I must have done something to my back because I can barely stand straight. Fortunately, I had already did a little exercise and walked. It may have happened when I was chopping wood for the furnace. Now, the only place I feel good is sitting on the couch.
Anyhoo, I hope most of you are having a good day. If you're not I hope we wake up tomorrow and everything is good.
Hey ladies!! I dont' have time to catch up with everyone right now. Just wanted to let you know I am home and getting back on track.
DH's surgery went well and he's healing up nicely. He's still out of it on pain meds, but that's ok. I'm so glad to be home and able to eat real food instead of fast food and crap in airports.
I'll catch up more later, I have about a million things to do to get the house back in order.
Howdy everyone!!!
Hope you are all having a FINE day. I got done early as work was slow. My 16 year old is home sick today Poor kid!
PMS is kicking my booty!!!! TOM is due but not here. I ave had cramps for days. Can periods get wonky at 39 in premenopause or something?? My friends mom sent over caramel corn. no one likes it but me and I started in on it. I bagged it up and will take it to work. Caramel corn plus diqbetic Michelle is bad!!!!
Echo a bit of what you pasted is pretty much on with the plan I originally started following. After reading that is is a good reminder to follow my plans rules more closely. Good luck on your experiment.
Nella howdy and healing vibes to dh!
Isabella maybe some heat might help. Be careful and hope it feels better asap!
Weebles hope the funk leaves. It must be going around I swear!
Bigmid hang in there. That scale can be frustrating. I figure if we do healthy fit things~ a healthy fit body will follow even if the dumb scale isn't saying so. That why I quit weighing for now. Someone mentioned even worrying about it could cause a negative reacting on weight so no more worries.
Angela best of luck on the 6 mini meals!
Ars your freezer cooking sounds yummy yummy!!!!
Babygrant hope you are feeling better today. My MIL had that procedure done a few years back. Wow was she happy!
