Bette- I feel you on that winter hibernation-mode instinct. I don't want to do ANYTHING when it's cold. And being a good southern girl, I think anything below 60 is cold! Maybe try some workout dvds, then you can stay inside where it's warm!

tricia- what about a book for your reward? I don't know. I have a hard time coming up with rewards for myself too. Most of the ideas I come up with involve money I don't have. Great job on the 12.25 inches!

Krista- I like the FiberPlus dark chocolate and almond bars. I don't have any in the house right this minute so I can't tell you the calories, but it's 2 points on WW (the FiberOne bars are 3 points, so I stick with FiberPlus)

Kim- How awesome is it that you got a workout in at work?! Sounds fun too

Shan- sorry your scale isn't moving. It happens to us all at some point. It will catch up to you soon enough.

benjsmama- I use the WW 3 month journal. Honestly, I have no problem eating my 31 points a day when I'm active (actually I have to plan to keep from going over). I only go under my points when I'm lazy all day. That and some of the food I eat can rack up pretty fast: kashi go lean crunch with skim milk (I'm so addicted to this)= 5 pts a bowl (but who can stop at ONE bowl?)... egg and cheese english muffin= 7 pts... turkey wrap with guacamole and ranch(from Jason's Deli)= 8 pts. Just a few examples of my higher point, but healthy meals. Dinner is my lowest point meal, and I'll snack throughout the day on oranges or yogurt. I also often eat 4 meals a day.

I finished week 2 of C25K today and will start week 3 on Sunday. Luckily I got my run in before the bad weather. There was a little snow while I was running, but just enough to be pretty without getting the ground wet, so it was perfect! We have the whole "winter mix" kinda sleet, kinda snow thing going on here. Which probably means ice for tomorrow morning:rolleyes:. I had a big woosh in my weight this morning, which always makes me nervous that it will come back just as fast! I can't wait to weigh-in on Saturday and see how this week went. I don't count anything as official until I see it on the WW scale.

FiberPlus are yummy. They are 120 or 130 cal per bar (depending on flavor) and offer 35% of your daily fiber. Here's the link to the kelloggs website - and has a $0.75 off coupon you can print :) I love companies that give free coupons :D

Hey, girls! Thanks for the heads up on the FiberPlus bars. I've only tried FiberOne, but if FiberPlus are less points and taste good, I think I'll switch. Love getting the fiber in my snacks!
Today was OP and I expect a decent weigh-in tomorrow, though may not be good enough to get back to start weight. Whatever it is, I'll take ANY loss. I think I'm figuring out what is and isn't going to work for me food-wise on exercise vs. rest days.
I'm off to bed here in a minute...hoping a good night's sleep will help my numbers! :D

I wanna thank everybody for advices on the journals. I appreciate it! I think I can pull it off. Well, still hoping I can. hehe.

Aclai4067 - I know exactly what ya mean bout eating just a bowl of cereal. I started on the Special K Challenge last month and have really taken a liking to eating these Special K cereals such as Cinnamon Pecan and Vanilla Almond. I also learned to eat 3 meals plus 2 to 3 snacks a day. So I think that's why I believe I think I will do good with WW but am a bit nervous bout the points thing. lol. Been looking around and I think I just might be able to pull it off. :)

Doing my best to keep my weight steady but TOM is due any day now which means bloating-grrrr.

Bette- I keep trying to convince dh to move to MN , where I grew up since they have a longer growing season than we do. But Iowa reminds me of Wyoming, where I also spent some time the wind always blowing & nothing to stop it!

I've been kind of avoiding this thread because this week so far I've been doing awful. I haven't been exercising like I should. I exercised once this week. I'm still eating junk food. Eating more than I should.

Plus I have stress at work I'm eating like crazy. I just felt like crap this week. And I've gained 2lbs already and this week isn't even over yet. I am 236lbs now. Which only makes me 2lbs away from my highest weight.

Violet73 01-08-2010 07:34 AM

I'm happy to report that I have lost 3 pounds so far this week! :woohoo: I hope for more by weigh in! Low-carb just works for me and I hope it continues! :D

helwa...sorry you have had a rough week...but just try to remember how you feel at the size you are and no matter what stresses you out...try not to let food be a buffer. It's hard I know but you can do this!!!!!!!

 Today is a new day so get back on track today...whatever it takes, just take at least one step in the right direction. I have let my work and stress overtake my life the past couple days so I am right where you are...fixing it TODAY though before it gets out of hand.

It is good to know those walking dvd's actually do break a sweat. I have bad knees so i wonder if that would be worth a try... i don't run as it is too hard on my knees especially at this weight.

Walk Away the Pound are great...and are on the On Demand, so are likely the videos you are asking about. You can buy the 5 mile DVD at walmart for like $9, and you can stop it at any mile you want, so it comes out cheaper from buying 1, 2 and 3 mile DVDs. I am about to buy the 5 mile myself :)

I'm so fustrated this morning. I am changing my weigh in days to Saturdays and this morning is Friday here in South Korea. I have posted all my food this week in the nutrition journal, and I have been to the gym everyday this week. I peaked at my scale this morning and I have lost NOTHING! I'm so pissed! Usually a bad week for me last challenge was if I lost 2 or 3 lbs. Now, I'm pulling nothing! I'm so angry and fustrated I want to cry. End of rant.

Welcome to the dreaded plateau...they are no fun! Have you tried to mix something up...change workouts or up the intensity or duration, or change your calories/points or something? That will usually work for me.

CanadaMel 01-08-2010 10:31 AM

WTG Leslie!! Keep up the good work!

Shan-purplefirefly is right. I remember reading in the last challenge, or somewhere on this board that calorie cycling (same # of calories for the week, just vary the # of calories each day) helps to kick the body out of it's holding pattern.

Ms Perception 01-08-2010 10:33 AM

Good morning, all!

LeslieLou-Yay on the 3 pounds!! That's fantastic! Keep up the good work.

helwa-Like the ladies already said, today is a new day. Start over now and don't let yesterday determine what you do today. The key is to STOP the negative behavior as soon as you recognize it and replace it with good. We've all been there and know that feeling, but You Can Do It!!!

CanadaMel-I think that's my problem right now...pre-TOM junk. I'm having cravings, not much weight loss, and all that fun stuff. Blah! But on the up side, I've actually resisted cravings for several days in a row...it's amazing!

tricia and Purplefirefly-I also have and use the Walk Away the Pounds. I really like Leslie Sansone, though some find her annoying. She was one of the reasons I regained the confidence to begin running again! For winter it's worked out wonderfully to have those dvd's while the weather isn't cooperating for me to run outside. :)

I saw a little drop drop this morning on the scale which is nice, but I was expecting and hoping for more. I've got to be dealing with pre-TOM issues, because I should've seen better results from my hard work (judging from past experience) by now. Oh well, I guess it's keeping me motivated to stay OP because I want to get back to, and beyond, my low weight from a few weeks ago. It sounds like week 1 isn't gonna be the strongest showing for some of us, but we're a motivated bunch and we'll make RED team proud for the rest of this challenge!

You're not the only one! I've been really strict about staying OP, so hopefully I'm close. LOL

Hello! Today was my weigh in, I'm at 146.8, I lost 3.5 pounds!! It gives me motivation to keep going :). Hoping to be below 145 by next friday.. If I stay OP I know I can do it,, but it's hard.. I love cookies and candies,, I take one week at time..

Violet73 01-08-2010 03:33 PM

thanks everyone! :D

medinazarley 01-08-2010 04:05 PM

So, over the holidays I went out and bought a new scale. Mine wasn't broken, it just would weigh you like 8 lbs less if you leaned slightly back than if you leaned slightly forward, so how accurate can that be?? Well this new scale weighs me very heavy, so I addressed this with the moderators of this competition, and have been trying to get down to my start weight on the new scale. this is very frustrating because i wasn't actually heavier! My old scale has been showing losses the whole time!

Anyways, my new scale is now weighing me at a loss!!! And on top of that at my dr. appointment their scale weighed my at 245!! that's a 27 lb loss from my highest weight!! :carrot::carrot:

good luck ladies, soo you tomorrow for the weigh in!
