Other than that, I'm super excited for this challenge, I can't wait for the show to start tomorrow night. I've never seen it before, but I think it'll help me stay motivated for the team.

Toni, if you aren't comfortable with the format just make up your own. If you want to participate and have something to hold you accountable for exercise, just post what you plan to do this week in your own format. Then check them off/put them in bold or otherwise mark them off as you complete them!

Olive2 - Thank you so much for that suggestion. That is a great idea. That is the positive reinforcement that would work for me.

Glad you are on my team!

Drug my tired fanny to the grocery store tonight after work and hit the produce department hard. Then I came home and grilled a chicken breast and had the most amazing salad. More veggies and lean meat is my goal for eating. There was no way I was mustering the strength for a seperate workout tonight so I parked the car as far away from the door as I could and made long loops around the store. That is going to have to work for tonight cause this girl is wiped ;( I hope I get a better nights sleep tonight to fuel tomorrows workout.

So far today I'm way under calories, again, because I overslept. I'm planning on having a snack before bed maybe whole wheat toast w/pb and hitting the hay early to get up and work out tomorrow!!! First time in a loong 2 weeks due to a severe cold.

P.S. as indicated below, I quit smoking for the new year and the cravings are getting easier to ignore!

Starting this week out traveling for work. But I planned ahead- took healthy snacks for the car, drank my water, ate subway for lunch, and looked up where the nearest Whole Foods was to where I was staying. Stopped there before checking in at the hotel and got a salad and more water. I even brought measuring spoons with me to measure sesame seeds, butter, dressing, etc.
I also parked far from every rest area to get some walking in. 7 hour drive made me restless.

Day 1- POP!

I feel like CRAP! This cold is getting worse, so I'm off to bed. I was doing SO well today, then snapped and ate like 10 cookies! What the heck?!? UGH!!! Well, at least I can't eat while I'm sleeping, so that's a safe place to be. LOL

Congratulations on quitting smoking!! I have many friends who have quit over the last year or so and they all say they feel much healthier!

Yes, definitely do this. :D

yes i think i might change up the exercise challenge format....since i dont go to a gym - most of what i do is cardio and some has strength thrown in there in circuits and its hard to measure that portion....
but today was day 1 of my new workouts for the new year. and even though it's late....and DS refused to go to sleep and came downstairs to 'help' me workout...i did it! so proud of myself ;)
I completed my Your Shape wii workout, TBL wii workout, plus 40 minutes (w1d1) of the LCW TBL workout dvd ;)
i will be cussing jillian by the time hubby gets home, but as long as i get the results i want,,,,,,i might be nice and not cuss her on the tv :) LOL

Don't feel bad, I sometimes cuss at jillian too. I do a variety of her dvd's and usually the first day gets pretty nasty. My husband worked out with me once and he really let her have it, LOL! But, you know, it's worth it.

I didn't really have a lightbulb moment either. It was getting close to summer time and I didn't want to goanother summer afraid to go out in my swimsuit so I just put my mind to eating better.

I'm so glad we are actually allowed to change things up!
I had a routine set to follow that format as of tomorrow, but I went to Wal Mart tonight and found a Jillian Michaels dvd called Banish Fat Boost Metabolism, and I'm so glad I can do this instead!

It consists of:
5 minute warm-up
40 minute cardio circuit
5 minute cooldown

This first week I'm going to do it 3 times a week, and work my way up to 7+ times a week throughout the challenge! I'm so stoked! <3Jillian Michaels:carrot:

Ahhh I'm back at school day >_< (I'm in my last year of Sixthform~ which is like, the UK equivilent of highschool or college I think?) Um~ but yeah...I have alot of friends who have food pushers... they eat ALOT of unhealthy junk, and one in particular always tries to make me eat what she eats, which is usually fricking a double snickers bar or something (500cals!!) so it'll be interesting to see how many times I say no before she gets a little moody about it =/
Does anyone else have a similar friend in their group?

chewysmom 01-05-2010 05:50 AM

Good morning everyone! I've been sick since Sat w/ the crud, so sorry if I'm not very active this week. I've been up since 3 am. :( And of course, it sounds like the kids may be getting it too. *sigh*

.

I don't know that I had one particular light bulb moment, but last year while at the dr for anxiety, they told me I had had heart damage (???) based on the EKG. I cried the whole way home, thinking about my kids, etc. Luckily, they were WRONG (per the cardiologist ;)), and I still remember the feeling of getting a second chance when I walked out of that office. Then my mom died this past April in her sleep at the age of 56. She had a massive heart attack. My mom had been thin her entire life, but smoked like a freight train. (3+ packs a day) Luckily for me, I've never been a smoker, but I've been overweight/obese forever. I swear I hardly slept the first 2-3 weeks after she died. That shook me to my core b/c longevity runs in our family. (grandparents on both side living to 88-95 yrs old).

Added to that, my 9 yr old dd's weight has exploded recently. I know I have to start making healthier choices. I don't want her to go through what I've gone through my entire life.
