Oh, Vix I'm so sorry! I was laid off once and I remember the total shock I felt. I hope you will both be ok! Hang in there!

jillybean720 07-10-2008 07:19 AM

I'm still just reading, reading, reading! I've found some great informational resources online for WLS, and I've even been reading the backgrounds of some surgeons in my area. I'm going to call my doctor's office today to see if they can call my insurance company and sort out all the details so we can discuss it at my August 11 appointment rather than wait until the appointment to even bring it up and then have to wait longer to find out all the insurance requirements.

I'm so sorry... that just sucks. I'm sure you'll be super supportive of him though! I couldn't find a job for the longest time after college and being unemployed is just the most demoralizing thing (for me at least) but it can bring you two closer as well.

Vix - Sorry to hear about the layoff.

Anna & Roni - I know what you mean. I can't seem to focus in the spring/summer as well as I do in fall/winter.

Guess who got a wiifit last night? My BIL picked us up one when he saw a pile of them at BestBuy. It was too late last night to hook it up, but I'm getting on it tonight to check it out.

GirlyGirlSebas 07-10-2008 10:12 AM

HI Bluesers!

Today, I woke up with a hungry feelling in my stomach. That's always a good sign.:) Yesterday, I put together a recipe file so my family can start experimenting and broadening our menu base from meat and potatoes to whole grains and veggies. I also cut up the pineapple and watermelon. My youngest DD had never tasted fresh pineapple. She loves it! I had to caution her to slow down as she might get a stomach ache.

As of today, I've not re-started an exercise routine. Today, I will make that a priority. We've been getting late afternoon/evening thunderstorms every day, so walking with Hubby hasn't been an option. However, I can dust off the treadmill and really have no excuses.

tkglenn 07-10-2008 10:41 AM

GirlyGirlSebas 07-10-2008 11:02 AM

Hubby told the girls he might get them a Wii for Christmas. I said, "What?! Mama wants a Wii! With Wii Fit!" The girls think I'm funny because I've never played their X-box or their Playstation.

KimProbable 07-10-2008 11:06 AM

I was just telling DH the other day that I want a Wii Fit! My neighbor was telling me about hers and it sounds so neat. Our stupid winters here are so long and stupid that outdoor exercise is next to impossible to do year-round so I'm going to have to find some nice indoor alternatives.

momof4girls 07-10-2008 11:30 AM

Add me to the list of wanted a wii!!

suitejudyblueeyes 07-10-2008 11:49 AM

I'd love one too :) Unfortunately we have many, many other priorities for our money right now. One can dream, though....

Pineapple gives Will a bright red bunghole.

Figured out the gain from this morning. Poo and water. back to normal.

Hook it up ... but be aware that you don't get all the exercises and stuff, you get some of them and have to earn the rest. I have all of my Yoga exercises and it is exactly 30 minutes for my Fit Bank.

Glad to hear you are getting back in the saddle or in this case the treadmill. I too will miss the challange and talking to everyone.

It is $250 for the Wii, another $90 for the Wii Fit, plus you will need at least 1 extra controller as it only comes with 1 controller and numchuk.

If you read around it is being called the Mother's Video Game, because unlike the predominately male xBox and Playstation world, more women are playing the Wii, esp mothers who don't normally play video games (I am a prime example). We have practically every gaming station, but this is the only one I play (other than my GBA when I play Monopoly or the PSP when I play Suduko)

I find the Yoga good for someone like me who is Yoga illiterate, but the arobics isn't really aerobics except for the Super Hula Hooping, which can make me break a sweat. The Balance games are more play than exercise, but it does work on your balance for sure. I find except for a couple of the strength exercises, Lifting works better for me, but when I can't lift I try and work those in to my workout for the day.

I always will be a blue teamer, but let's be honest. My contribution is in the chatting, not in the numbers. I can still hang out without weighing in.

tkglenn 07-10-2008 03:15 PM

Maybe I'll win enough money to buy everyone a Wii :dizzy:

No, but being the data-obsessed freak that I am I'd love to wear one for about a week and see what it has to tell me...

tkglenn 07-10-2008 04:14 PM

yeah, i would love to see if it really works and how it really works. Isnt that what they wear on the biggest loser?

trailgroomer 07-10-2008 04:24 PM

wow - I didn't even know about the bodybugg - it looks like crazy productive - I would like to try one for a week too

wii - don't have one of these either but students have talked about it and how much their parents are into them as well

on the tee - great, my numbers are not making me a helpful team member but maybe in these last weeks something will budge off me

I can't wait for it to be over either. I'm seriously thinking about dropping from the weighins. I probably won't though, but a girl can dream can't she?

I am SO VERY, VERY glad to hear that you are coming to accept your body. Work on the maintaining for a while and see what happens in a few months. Without stressing about losing you might be pleasantly surprised what happens.

Vix--- I completely understand about the layoff. DH was off for 8 months last year. I was a mess.

I am ready to hide my scale as well. I'm trying to work up the nerve to just go to once a week weighing for the remainder of the challenge. Obviously weighing daily isn't working for me.

ok this morning i am offically pissed.. i have been good all gosh darned with sprinkles on top week and for what... to gain 5 ****ing pounds.. OMG i could scream.. fine i had 2 weeks without a decent workout. i was still doing aerobics and the trampoline though and walking i did about 900 minutes of exercise last week . i stuck to my calories.. why the **** am i now 272 again.. is this the stupid number my body wants to be.??? i just dont know.. why i bother.. I track my food i exercise and for what to gain weight.. what the **** is wrong with my stupid body.. arrghh .. i tell you what this better be some freak water weight or something or im just gonna quit... why bother if im gonna gain and loose the same 5 pounds.. i have done this since febuary.. i have dropped my cals i do heaps of exercise and i drop to 267 for a week then go back up to the same ****ed up weight.. i am so angry right now..

trailgroomer 07-10-2008 07:24 PM

I had to look up bodybugg too - it's a tool that you wear - I think like a wristwatch that you set up to read the calories you take in and the calories that you burn with another online component to help get you losing weight. It is a bit pricey.

also, amouse I know! I am losing/gaining the same 3 or at least what seems like it - so I can only say stick with it!

amouse: I do have something odd to ask you on a completely different subject, I saw the Australian National women's basketball team play and my friends and I are wondering about their uniforms. Could you tell me how they get their uniforms on? They are a dynamic team.

HI All, I read all the posts, and just want to say that the BF and I are doing better today. Maybe he is doing a little better than me, he has a better attitude. I am still just pissed and angry and sad.

Sorry to be a drain, not going to do personals now, but know I read everything that you have said and appretiate it much.

Good job keeping up the chat today ladies! =)

Oh man, Im so sorry. Gaining weight after having a bad week is one thing, but when you are totally OP and doing everything you can and still gain weight...that is FRUSTRATING. Im sorry hun. :hugs:

Doragone 07-11-2008 12:40 AM

Hello Blue Team:

I am writing from the Mill Casino in Coos Bay, Oregon, they have free wifi. DH and I are here for a couple of days for our anniversary. We just had a buffet meal, which included a little off plan food, but I came right back to the room and did my WATP 4 mile express. For a person who didn't exercise before, I'm finding I really don't like to miss it now. Something LS says on the tape that seems to be sticking in my head lately is that fat is stored calories, calories are stored energy so you can't get rid of the fat without burning up energy. Since I've been exercising, weight loss has been more even. I feel better and I can tell I've lost inches. (Next measure in less than a week). Well that's my health and social update, except the garden is doing well as is the landscaping in the main yard, nursing work is enjoyable and I've started building my driftwood fence.

Amy - so sorry about your weight fluctuations - though you may not be eating enough. I'm doing the small meals (300 calories - high protein) 5 times a day, which usually goes over 1500 up to 1700 sometimes, but I'm losing every week. Don't starve yourself, like the title of the book I'm basing this on, do this: Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle (they like protein).

Vix - What can anyone say? I know it's cliche, but so true . . . When one door closes, another opens. Be patient, have faith.

Anna - you're so fortunate to be at goal!!! I know it didn't come easy. You and Jo give me inspiration all the time. Thanks for that.

Dee - glad to see you back:carrot:

Rhonda - I too will miss the challenge, it has helped me so much. But I am stronger in my determination now so I can manage on my own, just don't want to. Guess I'll try to find another challenge, you?:?:

Angie - ditto on the new avi - you are looking cute and fresh.:D

Well, since I blew the money I had set out for gambling this day, I guess I'll cuddle with hubby and watch some B movie, or . . . something:o.

ttyl

Dora

amouse 07-11-2008 04:00 AM

Dora congratulations on your anniversary what a great way to sepnd it i bet its alovely place your staying at too
http://i18.tinypic.com/47brk2s.jpg

Linda i have no idea about the womens basket ball i dfont follow it.. i dont like any competitve sports watching them anyway.. rather be playing them then watching.. :) except little kiddis soccer with my son in the team then i love watching :) lol

im done im over this.. im gonna give up ....

ha.. i think not.. lol .. i am calm rational and have my head screwed back on once more after throwing a huge hissy fit ripping my head off and spitting down my own neck.. lol yeah i was really pissed .. but im done..

So i decided some of this weight has too be poop and you know what i was right.. today so far i have stuck to just fruit and veg.. and it did the trick.. i have pooped more today then i have the rest of the whole week .. and im now 270.. i will see tommorow how much i actually weigh since that was just after i had lunch.. so not overly accurate..

part of the weight has to be fluid.. from my workout yesterday .. and they other part i suppose is a bit of muscle and a bit of fat.. lol grrr.. i will find out becuase im gonna take my measurements in the am and find out once and for all.. muscle or fat.. lol..

ok i just did my measurements all are the same as last week except my legs which are 2 cm smaller

Mrs Snark 07-11-2008 07:18 AM

Dora -- that sounds like such a nice anniversary and I love hearing how exercise now just "fits" right into your life. Well done, you!
