Happy 4th of July everyone!

Chellez--I also want to thank you for all that you put into this. I honestly don't know how you have kept it up this long. This is my first challange and I have very much enjoyed being a part of it and I certainly look forward to future challanges.

I am happy to report a 2lb loss for this week!!!!

Go Blue Team!

dubh 07-04-2008 02:25 PM

Hello all! I just weighed in at work and I won again!! Yay! Granted there are only three of us in the competition but it still felt good. And as I said last month it is all thanks the 3FC TBL. Keeping me motivated and accountable! No one is doing next month. Oh well. (the rest don’t have the secret weapon that I do)

Last night I couldn’t go to the gym as my boyfriend had to go to a meeting, so I did C25k. I haven’t done a 30 mins run in ages, so I decided to do one last night, and at 30 mins I didn’t stop I carried on and ran for 45 mins! I felt really good. I think I could have gone for more. One day soon I will go for an hour. It is shocking that I can run for that long when 6 months ago I thought 3 mins was hard.

Amy - I like Billy Blanks a lot, they are the videos I started with when I first started losing weight. I could notice a difference in my body very fast. There is minimal floor work in the cardio videos which suits me down to the ground!

Chellez – Thanks for everything you have done, I was shocked at how you managed to find the time to do everything.

p.s. I am going to change my goal weight. When I began losing weight in my mind I thought I should aim for 135lbs and be happy with 145lb. Now that I am close to my goal I don't feel ready to stop losing weight. I am going to do some calculations!

amouse 07-04-2008 06:49 PM

ok thank dubh its good to know.
I agree with everyone else chellez is the best.. :) and this challenge has been amazing .. this is my first challange too and i have really enjoyed the experience..

I have another busy weekend soccer today and a fairy party tommorrow .. The kids are on winter school holidays here now for 2 weeks .. so its gonna drive me bananas.. lol .. they hate being couped up inside all the time and its doing nothiong but raining here so.. i have no choice.. they gotta be inside .. tormenting each other and me..

oh yeah for all you usa gals..

Thanks Amy, we are eating some leftover pasta that I cooked last night, and then taking the little mutt to the fireworks. They have a small fair in the town with food and some kids rides. We just grab our chairs and sit out and wait for 9 pm- ish...that's when the fireworks go off. Very excited, I love fireworks, hopefully see some family and friends there as well.

vixjean 07-04-2008 07:25 PM

Hey all, we just discovered this new show on www.abc.com called wipe out. It is so funny. You can just go to the website and watch them there.

momof4girls 07-04-2008 10:04 PM

Hey all,

I know I have not posted a lot lately, but I also wanted to chime in about the challenge how good it has been for me. I love knowing that I have to account to you all about not only my weekly weigh in's but also my exercise. There have been times where I have not wanted to go to the gym, but then I think how badly I want to get to the goal minutes for the week and it inspires me to get off my butt and get moving.
So, even though I am not here daily participating in the chats as much as I would like I think about you all often. I picture my blue team cheering me on and it really gives me motivation to keep going.
I wish I had more time to get personal with everyone here. As the summer has moved on, and my kids have been home from school and all the activities we have going on I just dont have as much on line time as I did before.
What I am trying to say is I am happy that I have been part of this challenge and I appreciate the work all the leaders have put into it. CHellez, thank you! :hugs:

Remember back in April when I got a job as a cashier and I was excited about it and I posted about it....but then I realized after just a few weeks that my body was not going to be able to handle standing for all that long? Anyway, I ended up quiting not long after I started. Well, today I had another job interview for a sit down position and I GOT THE JOB! It pays 10$ an hour to start and lots of room to grow and increase wages. My hours will be from 1-6 mon-fridays (no weekends, or nights) and I get 6 weeks off in the summer, and another 3 weeks off at christmas. I am soooooooo happy! Things do happen for a reason, and I am thrilled that I got this job. I start in another month. :woohoo:

Anyway, I gotta run...just heard one of my girls waking up. Hang in there blue and lets kick some butt!!

vixjean 07-04-2008 11:24 PM

momof4girls, sounds like an AWESOME job and a good fit too. Congrats!

Doragone 07-05-2008 02:25 AM

Hi gang!
For the 4th, dh and I went to 7 Feathers Casino in Canyonville where every year they put on a great dinner for veterans. Prime rib, chicken, sides, salad and dessert. I did well, using the green bean juice to create a salad dressing, had only a 1 inch square of scalloped potato, mixed it all on my salad greens with white chicken meat and voila! Very tasty and op. Came home, had my other every-3-hour meal of yogurt and cottage cheese, waited about 40 minutes and did my new 4 mile WATP. I crossed the 220 boundary to hit 219.2 this morning, so I can keep my record of having a loss every week.:woohoo:

So, am I clear that Chelle will not be tallying for us? How is this working from here on out? This is my first challenge, so I'm not up on this stuff. I am motivated and like Jo, competitive, so I'm still "challenged", but I was wondering how our numbers will go.

Thanks Amy for the 4th safe wishes. You always find the prettiest artsy graphix for us.:thanks:

Vix, too, gave us some awesome graphix. Hope your firework display was great. It's your happy spirit that will make it seem even more so.

Angie, how wonderful to get an even better job. You are SO right, things do work out for a reason. Congratulations. Good to hear from you whenever you can manage.

Dubh - woo - hoo on winning the challenge at work! It really does seem like we have a secret weapon here with such an encouraging team behind us. Keep up the good work.:encore:

mj - excellent job on the 2 pound loss!!!

Kelly, maybe you'll be the new illustrious leader?

Jo reminded us there's only 5 more weigh-ins. . . guess we better get in gear and win this thing!!! You've been a great team regardless.

Love ya,

Dora

Happy (belated) 4th!!!

:cheer3: Morning lovelies! :cheer3:

I hope everyone had a great 4th!

My happy news this a.m. is that I just crossed over the -50 pounds lost mark this morning with a lovely whoosh. I down -51.4 pounds overall, which suddenly seems significant in my head. Only 16.4 pounds to my goal is a little mind-boggling, frankly, but very motivating! I worked VERY hard last night to stay completely on plan during the BBQ we threw at my house and then later as DH and I biked to watch fireworks and he was munchie and drinky and it was hard not to want to eat, eat, eat and drink, drink, drink and be a part of that kind of celebratory fun. But I got a whoosh on the scale this morning as a reward for staying true to plan, and that made me feel so great!

amouse 07-05-2008 07:57 AM

CONGRATS josephine you are amazing .. your determination effort and complete control is what has got you her well done :) 51 pounds wow ... unreal

trailgroomer 07-05-2008 09:08 AM

Josephene: excellent way to believe in yourself :bravo::flow2:

momof4girls: congrat's on finding a job with best fit for you and potential:flow2::dancer::flow2:

Blue Team Rocks ! Hope we all make progress this week

rainy weather here so I decided to scrapbook. I am trying to consolidate all my pics from work to 1 front/back page a year. It's still going to be a full book, lol

Shay 07-05-2008 09:12 AM

Dora--Chelle is still our leader. She will continue to do our numbers. She was just letting us know that the challenges will no longer be year round. They will only take place when The Biggest Loser is on air. That starts after this challenge.

Congrats on the losses team!

mj5 07-05-2008 10:07 AM

Great job everyone! Keep it up!!!!

momof4--That is fantastic news about the job! Congrats!

Dora--Great job!!!

Jo--Fantastic!

We are getting ready to go to my sister's where healthy food choices will be few and far between. I am bringing a nice healthy salad and some other things, so that will help.

Hope everyone has a great on plan day!!!!!

mariarose 07-05-2008 10:08 AM

Josephine Congrats! That is absolutely amazing!

I ended up eating a bit too much (but not of awful foods at least) yesterday and staying out too late (which is hurting a lot now, as I am at work.. grrr) but that is life I guess. I am feeling really snacky since I am so sleepy...

onthetee 07-05-2008 11:30 AM

Even though I was down, I took the freebie....adds suspense for next week's weigh in!

I am trying to work up to 40 minutes of running from my current 30. I am still slow as cold molasses, but I am still doing it.

Saw skeletal neighbor on my run yesterday, "Wow. Look at you running!" "Well, I like to eat, and if I am going to remain a size ten, this is the price." "Well, I like to eat too, but I could never run." Yeah, well, I could see her hip bones through her shorts, so I think we may have a different set of issues. I also know her husband is at the very least verbally abusive and probably sexually abusive and without too much stretch of the imagination, possibly physically abusive. I would take my big fat tushy over that anyday of the week. Jilly is right--skinny people have problems too.

Yow, that's so sad, isn't it?

onthetee 07-05-2008 02:15 PM

At preschool, we called him the Sleeping With the Enemy guy. I am sure her soup cans are all facing the same direction in alpha order. I almost called CPS because of how they parent, but social worker friends of mine said it was not abuse, just crappy parenting. I try to have their daughter over frequently so she can see normal.

onthetee 07-05-2008 08:21 PM

I have not run today. We had a thing at my sister's with working on her house that want WAY long. It is 8:20 and early enough to run, certainly. But I know I will run in the AM, so twice in 12 hours with no food. That does not seem smart. Maybe just a walk and a run in the morning? I don't know. I could use the sleep.

Dora - I thank God regularly that Chelle isn't going anywhere, just slowing down. There isn't a snowballs chance in ANYWHERE I could ever do what she has done. I was just offering my services to her if it would help.

Hope all the USA folks had a great Independance Day!

BfL_Cat 07-05-2008 10:08 PM

Hi everyone - hope you're having a great weekend, and managing to stick to moderation during this holiday weekend's events.

My weekend is going well, and I plan to be posting a loss of some kind on Monday! Go Blue!

I know and it's hard to believe but is something we all should really remember. I took a poetry/psychology class once, the first poem they read us was written by a student in their last class. It was ridden with the pain she dealt with always being accused of being anorexic and how everyone always acted like her life must be so perfect because she was thin.

I had a great long workout 5k style. I hope to keep my little baby loss this week. I will probably post tomorrow.

amouse 07-06-2008 12:25 AM

We went to a fairy today and the kids had a blast
Paula was very good about getting things Leah could have so i was thrilled . She even made cakes that Leah could have and gave her a special party bag . :)

I got Cameron to wear a pair of fairy wings too .. lol Leah wanted to wear her fairy dress up dress .. lol its very bright but she was happy .. she had big wings and her fairy wand.. so she was as happy as can be. Since its winter i dressed her in stockings then pants a singlet and a long sleeve top then pulled the dress over the top .. here are the pics.

Cameron got his face painted as dracula. dont you love the eyebrows
and leah of course is a fairy butterfly .. lol

Hey team!

Josephine - Congrats on passing the 50 lb mark! You so totally rock!! :woohoo: When I first started posting on 3FC I was so completely overwhelmed by the idea of trying to lose 65 lbs but coming on here and reading the stories of people who had done that and then some convinced me I could do it too. You are such an inspiration!

Momof4 - Yay for the new job! It sounds great!

Dora - WTG with the good food choices! :carrot:

So I did my 16K run today and it was fantastic. I set out on the same route I tried to do last week but was unable to complete due to the heat and just plain going too fast. Today, though, it all came together and I finished my run at 2:01 only 1 minute past my goal. I started experimenting with my posture around the 3K mark when I found my leg was quite sore and my right shoulder kept hunching forward as it tends to do. I found that if I focused on pumping my arms my shoulders stayed squared, I pulled myself forward, and my leg pain disappeared. I seriously did not take one more painful step after having been in pain during every single run for the past 3 weeks. :carrot:

So tonight I'm pooped. I've got a bit of ouch in my calves but it's a tired achy muscle thing and not the dumb pain I'd been having. We're packing things up tonight for tomorrow since DS has rugby at 10 then we're heading out to the waterslide park for the day. Nice rest day for my legs, climbing 5 billion flights of stairs! ;)

Oh, and I'm really excited to do my official weigh-in tomorrow morning. I was already down 1 lb the other day after being at a total standstill for weeks and I'd be surprised if I weren't down another lb by tomorrow. I've been making good food choices and today's run alone burned 1575 calories according to my Garmin!

PinkyPie 07-06-2008 06:41 AM

I am never going to catch up here :( I'm so sorry team!!!!

I'm on vacation for the next two weeks. Sorry to ask this but what should I do with my next two w/i's when I've already used two freebies? I have actually contemplated taking the scale with me so that I can w/i, and then I can tell Josephine (for example; I haven't asked her yet!!) what my result is, via my mobile phone? What do you guys think?

krjpy 07-06-2008 09:16 AM

OK,

I really want to know how everyone's workouts went last week.

Those of you doing/wanting to do the Booty Challange, did you:
1. Journal / log your workout minutes?
2. Hit your goal for the week (be it your own goal or my challange to beat me)?

I hope everyone got back into the swing that was drooping a little and those that were moving along held stong.

Mrs Snark 07-06-2008 09:34 AM

Amy -- the kids looks so ADORABLE! What a good time that must have been!

Velveteen -- any way I can help, you know I'll be glad to!

Kelly -- I had a great week of exercise, feeling STRONG! I've even been inspired by ya'll to add in strength training to the tri sports, so that starts for me tomorrow. Yay! :)

Mrs Snark 07-06-2008 09:37 AM

:encore: Kim, you are a running GODDESS!!!! You are kicking butt and taking names, wheeeeeeeeeee! Congrats on such a fabulous run, I know how much work it took to get there! :encore:

KimProbable 07-06-2008 10:25 AM

Amy - Those are such cute pictures! I love the face paint.

Jo - Thanks!

I did my official weigh-in this morning and I'm down another pound this week so I've logged a 2lb loss for the week. Woohoo!! Making better choices and eating tons of veggies paid off for me. I'm now sitting at 203 lbs and so freaking close to Onederland I can taste it. It's been a huge mental struggle not to screw up because this is the lowest weight I keep getting to and then bouncing up from. Not this time! I'm going to keep on going and I'll be in the 190's by August.

vixjean 07-06-2008 11:17 AM

Kim - congrats on the 2 lbs!

vixjean 07-06-2008 01:45 PM

Posted a .8 lb loss this week, I was down to 160.2, then saw 160.4, today was higher but I am guessing it is because I ate a little heavier foods yesterday and now have a swelling foot, so I am ignoring today's weight. So I decided to post the 160.4 a loss of .8...
So that's really awesome for me and a nice loss!

Mrs Snark 07-06-2008 01:52 PM

Congrats Vixie, way to go!

mj5 07-06-2008 01:53 PM

Hi everyone! Having kind of a lazy day w/ dh today and it feels great! Oh, this is soooooo awesome....my gm noticed that I have been losing weight yesterday! She is usually pretty critical of my sis and I (in her own "nice" way) of our weight and she knows how much we both struggle....so for her to notice and give me a compliment is HUGE!

Kelly--I have to finish logging my exercise mins for the week....I have been doing it, just not logging.

2. Short of my 245 minute goal, I got to 220 though. Proud of my being close to goal. :dizzy:

AMY- your kiddys are sooo cute!

trailgroomer 07-06-2008 03:57 PM

I am so pooped too - went for a kayak time but didn't realize there would be water falls and low water - I am pooped - if this doesn't help with weight loss then I don't know - watching what I eat and not overdoing the salty and sugary treats - I have to lose soon

oh yes - I was able to log the menu and exercise - I made goal for exercise and did okay for menu choices - very slow progress for losing for me but I love knowing how well everyone else is doing.

hope everyone has a pleasant Sunday -

L

Glad to hear you are feeling strong - I am finally consistently getting in 2-3 days a week of heavy lifting, and I feel better for it.

Kim - You and I are so close in our weight. I am about 2 lbs behind you. I want Onderland bad too. I haven't been this low in my weight since before I got married. I want more, esp since I have been able to get into some 12s, I really want in those 12s as it puts me another set farther away from the "Womens" clothing.

Can I take a moment to be jealous? We're the same height and practically the same weight and you're getting into 12's while I'm just back into my 15's. I'll try to take comfort in the fact that my shoulders are feeling positively bony these days, but I'd really really appreciate it if my dumpy rear would fit into 12's! The last time I fit into a 12 I was 40lbs lighter than this.

onthetee 07-06-2008 10:51 PM

hey guys! My run today was not what i planned, but I know I will get to the 3 mile mark this week. had some weird pain, but judging from my playlist, I was just running too fast.

Happy:
There is a little sweetie in my bed waiting to snuggle her mommy (DH left to see his parents)
Run was good even if I did not make my goal. It felt good
Push Up challenge is going well
Did my gut work everyday this week

Unhappy:
Because DH is gone, I will have to either run on the treadmill (and who are we fooling?), hire a sitter or go in the evening. Not the sunrise breeze I had wanted.
Gory details of why DH is gone here: http://lifewithanna.blogspot.com/ (simple MIL rant)
I did my push ups without a shirt, and I have a diastasis. http://health.howstuffworks.com/how-diastasis-works.htm
There is an actual ridge down the middle of my gut when I am in the plank. UGLY! It was not bad right after Meara was born, so I don't know if it is jusst the angle or what.

Looking forward to a great week!
