TBL "WMB" - Black Team Chat

Hey team! Here's our new chat thread. Have at it. :D

LondonJulz 03-20-2008 06:09 PM

Pretty nifty that we had to start a new thread, huh? Wow....how cool!

Interesting tidbit about picking our own teams next go round - that would certainly make it interesting. I'm all up for heading up the Black Team again next time around and I'd be all up for any one of you being on the team again (and any former Black Team members, I would gladly welcome them back). We shall see if the black team will make a return next go round. :)

It is a GORGEOUS day today! We've been outside most of the day. We were going to go to the zoo, but as soon as we got there, the line of cars waiting to get in just to park was backed up past the entrance, so we quickly nixed the idea. We are zoo members so we can go anytime we want to, and I forgot it was Spring Break week, too.
We also went to a Whole Foods market in Tulsa today. I L-O-V-E-D it!!! I just felt healty. I plan to do a lot of shopping there, for sure! The hubby and I picked up a colon cleanse. We haven't done one yet, so I'm excited to try it. Can't wait to see what comes out. :p

Diva - I'm so glad you got things sorted out!! You go girl!

ahill1979 03-20-2008 07:28 PM

It is pretty cool that we had to start a new thread. I have gotten so much inspiration and motivation from all of the posts in this challege.

I plan on joining in the challenge again. I want to be on the Black team for sure if we get to pick. I was secretly hoping to be on the black team when I first joined this challenge and was very happy that I got put on the black team.

We are having veggie chili for dinner tonight. It smells great and I am going to eat. Talk to you guys tomorrow.

LondonJulz 03-20-2008 07:47 PM

Veggie Chili? Sounds wonderful!!!!

I find a lot of inspiration here too. I do so much better with my eating and exercising when I'm a part of a challege like this. I think it's the accountability thing.

SoulBliss 03-20-2008 08:18 PM

London, I love you as Captain. ;)

I am not sure if I will do the challenge again for a number of reasons though...I really want to focus less on the scale. I'm going to be starting a scale-free challenge for those of us who want to measure success in other ways, like body fat percentage, days on plan, consistency in healthy eating and exercise, how our clothes fit, and how our body-mind-Spirit feels.

It will be a NSV challenge, really. :) I mean, weighing won't be verboten for those who want to check at the beginning and again a few times throughout, but it will NOT be the focus!

I will miss being involved with this challenge though. I do think that more than pounds matter to me at this juncture. I did so well the last challenge and have done well this one too even as far as pounds are concerned, but I don't want the pressure of feeling like I HAVE to pull big numbers (it's self-imposed, no worries there, I have felt supported by y'all ;) ).

So, I probably won't do TBL challenge again this next round. :)

caitbeans 03-20-2008 08:47 PM

Soulbliss- I love the sound of your challenge, I need to focus so much less on numbers. I need to start doing my measurements more so I don't conentrate as much on the scale.

Tomorrow I signed up or a spinning class, I have never done one before- and I am nervous. All those people come out of there totally drenched I can't wait to do it, I just hope I don't look like a fool doing so!

I got back on the wagon today, I got to the gym, I worked out for an hour and 45 minutes, it just felt so good!

Interested. This seems to be more of where I am now. I don't mind weighing and using that as a guide, but I am really working on a more holistic approach.

Have you read The Writing Diet by Julia Cameron? Worth a p/u at the 'brary.

SoulBliss 03-20-2008 09:18 PM

No, but I've heard (I think I read you saying it, even) that it's like "The Artist's Way" which I did years ago. Thanks for the tip, I will look for it tomorrow at the library! I am glad so many people are into a holistic (thats the best way of putting it!) challenge.

I know I have appreciated the work everyone has done to make TBL happen and I may revisit in the future, but I am pretty sure I'm sitting this next one out for the other scale-free challenge. :carrot:

hope4me 03-20-2008 09:52 PM

I've really enjoyed TBL challenge. It actually got me started losing weight again after over a year of not being able to. :)

I will probably rejoin the next one b/c I still have a lot of pounds to go. I think Soul's challenge sounds great and I would love to do one of those in the future or maybe at the same time as a scale-related challenge. I need to learn to appreciate the OTHER good things that go on besides the scale numbers dropping.

Today for the first time I was back OP since my visit home with my mom. It's hard to get back on track after all the cravings come back. I don't know what will happen as far as the weigh-in this week. I may be up a little, but I would love to just break even after the 3 lb gain while I was gone. :o

Thanks for all your support through this challenge everybody!

I'd love to get the veggie chilli recipe Ahill!

Cait: let us know how the spinning class goes. I've always wanted to try one too.

ahill1979 03-20-2008 11:26 PM

Here is the recipe that I use. I cook it in the crock pot on low for about 6 hours instead of the way they say to. It is fabulous. We love it. Very yummy. If you have never bought smart ground-I find it at Kroger or Walmart with the Tofu and such. There are a few different versions of the smart ground. The one in the small cardboard box is 110% better than the plastic wrapped roll.

Vegetarian Chili with Smart Ground Mock Meat Crumbles

caitbeans 03-21-2008 07:34 AM

ahill- thank you for that recipie, I am going to have to cook it next week, it sounds VERY yummy!!!

sxulcmnky 03-21-2008 08:32 AM

ok team... i'm back in action today :D my headache is finally gone... i took like 1600mg of motrin and it didn't help, so i went home at lunch and took my Rx meds

Thanks Soul, you are a definite asset to any team!
I love your idea for the your challenge! I never realized how not important scale numbers were until I met my trainer. She's 185 pounds (only 10 pounds less than me), but she is not big at ALL. She's quite healthy, but she's all muscle. I don't want to be a slave to the scale. I love watching my Body Fat Percentage go down. I've been around the same weight since January, but my % has dropped 4% (I know I've mentioned that before).

I always thought a spinning class looked fun..... but tough! Good luck! Let us know how it goes!

The recipe looks delicious!!! Crock pots are one of the best inventions ever!!!! AND, I'm glad your headache went away! Headache pains rank right up there with toothaches.......... just flat out annoying!

losinitin07 03-21-2008 10:38 AM

Hi every one sorry I haven't been in here lately I am staying op hoping the scales go down this week . I'm just happy to in 60's haven't been there for years it feels good . I have been able to get out and do a little walking , last Sunday DH and I and the dog went for a walk in the woods ,went to a pond out back of our house every thing was good till DH fell through the snow and was stuck in water both legs mind ya we were 2 miles back in the woods after several mins of twisting , tugging and pulling he was able to loosen his stuck foot and climb out so ended the trek in the woods we headed home because his pants were soaked along with his boots. So now we will stick to the field and road.
We had snow again so I cleaned the roof off with a roof rake and shoveled good exercise,
ahill1979 that recipe looks good did you find that on a web site?
I would be happy to be back on the black team next time around this is a awesome team and you all have done so good it has been encouraging to me .
Have a great day every one.

ahill1979 03-21-2008 10:49 AM

Sally---I am glad that your headache finally went away. Hopefully it wont come back.

Julz---I am so impressed with your loss of body fat %. Do you just get it measured at your gym?

losinit---Thank goodness your DH is ok. I would have freaked out. I bet he was cold. I did get that recipe off of a website a while back. Probably the lifelight website. They have lots of recipes. Here is the link: http://www.lightlife.com/recipes.jsp

I just found out this morning that my dh, Mikella, and I got a spot in the Peachtree Road Race! I am so excited about it. I have got to start training more regularly. I have never been in a race of any kind. It is a 10K. My goal is to be able to finish it in under 2 hours. Yay!

losinitin07 03-21-2008 11:14 AM

thank you ahill1979 for that link and:cp::congrat:on the race .
:easter2::egg::easter3: every one .

Diva 03-21-2008 11:15 AM

I wish I could get mine tested too. I asked my doc the last time I went and the nurse said they didn't have the thingy. I think when I call to make an appt next time I will request it then and see if they have one, lol! I'll force these peeps to buy one. I mean they are a doctors office for Christ's sake, you'd think they would have one. Back in the day before Matt came along and I was training to be an aerobics instructor, I was a size 7 but I weighed 145, and I was not fat at all. i was all muscle, so the scale really doesn't know squat!

Anywho, I got both fella's home today for the Easter Holiday. It's already shaping up to be a bootiful day. We may go fishing or something. Right now Jess is working on the lawn mower because believe it or not, our grass already needs to be cut. The grass is actually greener right now than it was all last summer, due to the drought. But all it's done is rain and snow a little this winter, so the grass is so pretty. :) Did y'all see that moon last night? gorgeous! I know I am gonna go for a Walk at some point because I have 35 more eggs to find today! ;)

Thanks! Yeah, the gym has that machine thingee, I'm not sure how exactly it works....lol.

Congrats on the race!!!!! Sounds like fun!

LondonJulz 03-21-2008 11:59 AM

and I had to post again because we're almost ahead of the other teams in post counts :D

LondonJulz 03-21-2008 12:00 PM

Ahem....getting my Elvis voice....Thank you, Thank you very much!

ahill1979 03-21-2008 12:36 PM

Yay! I was so excited about getting in the PRR that I went and walked/ran on the treadmill. I never work out in the morning. It felt really good to do it. I am already looking forward to running again tonight.

Diva, I love your attitude too. Girl, you don't know how many times you have motivated me to get up off of my butt just because of how positive you are. Have fun fishing or whatever you do today. I haven't been fishing in forever. Need to do that soon.

Have a great day everyone.

ahill1979 03-21-2008 12:37 PM

Oh and I forgot to tell you guys that I bought an ipod nano last night and I am going to go and buy a new pair of running shoes and the nike+ sensor today. I am excited about being able to use it to train for the PRR. Do any of you use the whole Nike+ ipod set up when you run?

Congratulations! Please let us know how it goes. I considered trying to participate, but I chickened out. Maybe next year. I'm looking forward to hearing all about it.

michie 03-21-2008 01:08 PM

Hey new thread! Lol! How's it hanging, team?

Manda- Man that is cool about your race! I wanna be in a race! I run funny though so I don't think it's in my future, but go you!

Diva- You are funny to me! Sure you have a great attitude and you're generally positive, but you just make me laugh! So thanks!

Julz- Are we winning yet? I'm going to check NOW!

I officially got rid of my car. :-( It's all done. I get my "new" car today, but I really don't like it as much as my old one. Oh well... I bet I'll learn to love it. I'm hoping to go out tonight and DANCE! Dance is my one true passion in life... I love it! So I hope to go out tonight and burn some major calories. Then tomorrow, I don't know if any of you know this, is National Corn Dog Day! (The first Saturday of March Madness every year...) So me and my DBF might go to a celebration. Not sure yet. I do love corn dogs... but I'll make sure not to eat too many! I do have a team to keep in mind! Have a great weekend ya'll! Happy Easter!!!

SoulBliss 03-21-2008 02:19 PM

I am off to a volunteer orientation with DD then to Lane Bryant to buy a size 20 dress (that's right! SIZE 20, down from a 26/28!!!). I will be volunteering at DD's show tonight (it closes this weekend) and am trying to find out what to do about dinner. Failing to plan is planning to fail and all that jazz! ;)

I am glad your headache is gone, Sally.

I hope you come to love your new car, Michie (I sent you a PM!).

Ahill, congrats on the upcoming marathon with your DH!

London, which cleanse kit did you get? Let me know when you are starting. I have a whole body cleanse I am starting after this weekend (maybe I'll do it April 1).

Diva, good for you for speaking up to those people at the Dr.'s office. You NEED your meds! Col turkey is NOT an option!!! What freaks!

Have a great day, team!

Diva 03-21-2008 03:47 PM

Thanks everyone. :D I'm actually a lil' bit surprised y'all think I'm funny. I always thought I came off as (b)itchy, lol!

I feel sooooooooooooooo lazy today, and I haven't gotten that walk in yet. :o Maybe later. I am actually feeling like a nap.

ggmugsy 03-21-2008 04:46 PM

Manda - Your race sounds FUN! I'd kill to be anywhere near Atlanta at this very moment. I think the Ipod Nano & the sensor in your shoe is an amazing invention. Haven't used it, but I am shopping for a good HRM that calculates caloreis burned.

Diva - DH and I want to go trout fishing this weekend but I'm not going if it's raining or snowing. I'm a fair weather fishy-girl!

Julz - Awesome job on losing so much body fat. That's what really matters. Not the # on the scale. I've seen those calipers they use on ebay. I wonder how much $$ they are and if they're hard to use.

Michie - My mouth watered reading about the corn dogs. It's been years since I've eaten a corn dog. YUM!!! Have fun!

Soul - Have fun buying your new, smaller dress!!

I'm SICK of winter and I'm SICK of sickness. I have had a kid home sick nearly every school day for three straight weeks. Four trips to the doctor and it's always . . . "It's a virus, call us in a week and pay us for another office visit if he isn't better." SCREEEEEEAMMMMMMM!!!

It's snowed 5 of the last 6 days. 4" new just today. Did I mention I'm SICK of winter???

Going to Bunco tonight and plan on drinking a lil too much!!!

LondonJulz 03-21-2008 05:02 PM

ggmugsy - My gym uses this body fat thingee (how do you like that techical term... :D) http://www.comforthouse.com/ombodfatan.html
It's REALLY easy to use. You just put in your age, weight, height, build, and gender.... then you hit "start" and hold it out in front of you and let it do it's thing.

soul - I got one called "First Cleanse" by Renew Life. It's for people who have never cleansed before (it's gentler). It's a total body cleanse that helps to clean your liver, lungs, lymphatic system, skin, blood and bowel (aka colon). I haven't started it yet because I might be pregnant :o Yes, I see the looks of shock on all of your faces. Long story short, my cycles tend to go 26 days one month, 30 days the next month, 26 days the next month 30 days the next month, etc etc. Well, around my predicted ovulation date I had some spotting (nothing big at all, just a little bit but the same thing happend when I got pregnant with our son... it was the blood from where the egg implanted itself in the lining of the uterus). This month was supposed to be a 26 day cycle which means I should have started 2 days ago. I'll give it another few days just in case my cycle decided to act up and be a 30 day cycle 2 months in a row this time around. Took a PG test today and it came up negative. If I haven't started in the next 3 days or so, I'll take another one. If it's still negative I'll need to set up a doc appointment to see what the deal is. So......... I'm holding off on starting my cleanse until I find out if I'm with child or not. :dizzy::p

michie - I haven't checked lately to see the count.... lol. I was just happy we were ahead for a little bit. The other teams are just a bunch of chatty kathys (I mean that in the nicest way.... it's a good thing!) Congrats on your new car! Sounds exciting. How'd your mid-terms go?

michie 03-21-2008 05:26 PM

Soulbliss- This may be a little too late, but my favorite fast food place is Chik-Fil-A! Their grilled chicken salad is so simple and good! Yum! I may have to make a trip over there... ah man! It's Good Friday! Dangit.. no meat for me today!

Julz- Holy Smokes girly! That is super exciting! Even if you're not.. the thought of being preggers must be thrilling. Are you planning on reproducing anytime soon? Keep us posted!

ggmusby- I too hope to have too much to drink tonight! Well... enough to drink.. so I can dance better! That happens, right?

GirlyGirlSebas 03-21-2008 05:52 PM

Oh yes:yes:....drinking does make one dance much better. Just don't forget to get up on the table while doing so. You do want everyone to enjoy the show. ;)

caitbeans 03-21-2008 07:06 PM

ahill- wow that is an awesome goal for your race- when is the run? I think I might have to join something- I think a 5K. I REALLY want one of those nike shoes with the sensors, let me know how you like it.

miche- have fun dancing, i need to learn how to dance lol, i always look like a clown.

I did my spin class today, I loved it. I need to get a pair of the biker pants with the padding in the butt becuase boy was my butt SORE! It was a blast though, I was able to keep up and stay out of the saddle when everyone else was, hopefully I can work that into my routine a few times a week, I don't know if I have ever sweated like that before!

LondonJulz 03-21-2008 10:04 PM

Well, if I am preggers, he was completely planned by God (if you know what I'm sayin ;)) We have 2 kiddos now (both were completely planned by God :D) We do plan to have more kiddos, so it wouldn't be disappointing if I am pregnant. I am already 40 pounds lighter than I was when I got pregnant with our first baby - so that's a good thing. I'm gonna give TOM 3-4 more days to show up. In 4 days it will be the longest cycle I've had (my absolute longest was 32 days). If TOM isn't here by then, I'll get a pregger test. (Diva, it kinda freaked me out, because when I had that wee bit of spotting a couple weeks ago, I started thinking I could be pregnant - then I went on your myspace page and saw you had something about "JB" being pregnant.... JB are my initials.... I wonder if it was an omen? :dizzy:

caitbeans - so glad you liked your spinning class!!

LOL! OMG! I am gonna be out of my skin if I got you preggers:preg: with myspace! That's gonna be awesome if you are. BTW JB is one of my best friend's and she just found out she was pregger's the day before you saw that. :D I try and get her to come to 3fc's but I'm thinking she's not to concerned with her weight, lol! Which is fine, she's bootiful no matter what!

Michie & Girly- I remember my table top dancing with such fondness. hehe!;) Michie have fun for both of us! :dancer:

Mugsy, don't drink too much girly! lol! I'm sorry winter is still there for you. :( We had 72 and very sunny today. Jess & Matt both got sunburnt. I had to make a special trip to Walmart to get them the Blue Aloe stuff. Silly guys...:) I sunscreened it myself and only got a bit of a pink nose out of the deal...If they'd only listen to me. :dizzy:

ahill, that's so exciting about the running shoes and the nike+ sensor. Ya gotta tell us how much fun it was! I hope the shoes are good to you. My new "so called" running hsoes are what hurt me 2 weeks in a row. my old faithfuls are serving me well. :)

BTW, Did y'all see Ellen when Chris Matthew's was on last week and they danced and it went terrbly wrong? I never laughed so hard in all my day's! that was some funny chit!:D Wonder if it's on youtube?
Anywho I am sleepy and I am sure there's typos here. Sorry. :dizzy:

Hey Team! I've fallen off the wagon....or just got outta routine...but I need HELP! Last weekend (Fort Randall trip) was full of drinking and eating NON HEALTHY STUFF, not to mention no exercise unless you consider walking up and down the bus aisle to hand out jello shots exercise. Wednesday I did manage to get a run in but just a short one. Wednesday afternoon I got my tattoo finished. I haven't exercised since. I decided to focus on my eating while I wasn't exercising, well that worked for about a day and a half. Hubby decided to take me out eat which I did good til afterwards I gave into cravings for ice cream. I can see myself "filling out" and absolutely hate it! I know what I need to do, but I guess I just need a kick in the arse to get me going in the right direction.

Julz-How exciting you might be preggers.

Caitbeans-Glad you enjoyed your spinning class.

ggmugsy- Sorry to hear you're still dealing with winter. Its trying to warm up here. I'll be glad when the warm temps are here to stay. Hope you had fun at bunco.

Michie-Were ya a dancing fool? I like to go out dancing when I'm drinking too...

Manda-Congrats on getting in on the PRR! A 10k WOW! I'm sure you both will do great. As for the nike sensor you might check with ceegee, I think she has one.

Diva-Glad you got the meds taken care of. Hope you guys got to go fishing, I find it to be relaxing. I'm hoping this year we'll make it out, DD has been wanting to go, so we got her a pole, and she's been practicing casting in the house. I'm getting tired of untangling the line. :dizzy:

Soul-Congrats on Size 20 :cp: All your hard work is paying off, keep up the good work.

SoulBliss 03-22-2008 11:58 AM

Wow! A possible pregnancy, dancing drunk on tables...we are quite the group! :D

I am gearing up to go back to school. I accomplished SOME of the things I needed to over Spring Break but not EVERYTHING. :( Oh well, so, I am only Wonder Woman some of the time...That's okay. ;)

I am on my way to a meeting and later today...Massage for DH and I!!! :carrot:

ChopperChick355 03-22-2008 12:24 PM

Julz Sounds like you could have some exciting news....
Caitbeans So glad you are enjoying your spinning class it does sound like fun we do not have any around here.
dream710 So you had a good time at Ft Randall, did you win anything? Or at least maybe break even? But then again if I loose It is good entertainment.
I agree we have guite the group with all the excitement of maybe pregnancy, table dancers :) and jello shots drinkers (those are the best shots)
Massage sounds so awesome right now wish it was me going but enjoy........
Hope everyone has a great Easter!!!

ChopperChick355 03-22-2008 12:28 PM
