I thought it was great, Jillian is not nearly as aggressive as she is on the show or anything, but it's kick butt. Strength combo moves like squats w bicep curls, cardio like jumping jacks, jump rope etc and then abs. I was definitely struggling.

If you have on demand TV, look for Exercise on Demand, then you can try b4 you buy.

caitbeans 04-04-2008 07:25 AM

dream- have you looked into sparkpeople.com that is the best one I found so far, much better than fitday. and it's free!

I'm sick, so everyone have a good few days if I am not around much.

Diva 04-04-2008 08:06 AM

Dream, I haven't tried the Gold membership @ TDP yet, but I am thinking about it. I've never tried the Sparkpeople. I know they gave the administrators of 3FC's some problems so I just never bothered to go there. If you made a Daily Plate account and wanna add me as a friend, I am Diva0467 there. :) I've joined a few of the groups, but I don't post @ the forum much. it's cool that they have it, but 3FC's is WAy better, hehe. :D

Anywho, I don't know why I even tortured myself by stepping on the scale...It's TOM and I know I am bloated, so WHY did I do it??? Why Dear Lord Why???....Okay, I'm better. :)

sxulcmnky 04-04-2008 08:10 AM

okay team...

1. good morning
2. i suck and haven't been to the gym in a couple of days
3. i *am* going today after work though... i'm becoming super cranky and need to get it out

ahill1979 04-04-2008 08:27 AM

Ceegee---Is your user name on Nike+ the same as here? I was reading The Biggest Loser Challenge thread there and saw a Ceegee there. I wish I would have gotten my Sensor and known about TBL challenge there before it was to late to join. Are you in that challenge?

dream710 04-04-2008 08:34 AM

Diva- I did create an account, I'll add you to my list...I used the same user name dream710 if you wanna add me :)

hope4me 04-04-2008 10:30 AM

I did the Jillian Michael's workout Shred #1 on exercise tv and was pouring the sweat. I want to try part 2 soon.

LondonJulz 04-04-2008 11:05 AM

Hey team!!!

Sorry I haven't been around these past couple of days. We made a rush trip back to my parents house as my dad had some work for the hubby to do - so that's where we are (til Sunday). My dad's computer is ancient and runs at the speed of slug. It's frustrating to try to get on here to check anything and respond to anything.

I'll definitely be chatting (as much as I can) between challenges. I, too, think it's really important!

Michie- how's your cleanse!?! I had to go off of it for a couple of days because I left it here at my parents house over Easter. So, I'm now back on it....that's my life, pretty much...lol

Hope you all are doing well!!! I'll be checking in as I can while we're here....

hope4me 04-04-2008 09:56 PM

Uhm, hellooooo :listen:

Wow it's quiet in here.

I tried Jillian's Shred part 2 today. Mercy. Lots of stuff in the 'plank' or pushup positon. Doesn't she know how heavy I am? My shoulder blades are sore. Good workout though.

Motherm: have you tried level 2 yet? or maybe you are doing your C25k training today. I want to start that program at some point.

Sxul: Did you make it to the gym today?

Cait: Hope you feel better soon.

Julz: enjoy your visit! I hate slow computers.

Hi everybody else!

mothermavis 04-05-2008 07:45 AM

Hope4, I've not tried the 2nd part of Jillian's video, maybe tomorrow, today is Day 1 Week 8 of C25k, I am almost done. I've not lost much weight but I've lost 3 inches of my hips in the last 2 months, so I'll take it.

Julz- enjoy the visit, but I agree on the slow computers, we had dial up for the longest time, cuz it was all that was available in the boonies where we live, was so awesome when the DSL people came thru!

Sxc-come on girl, just do it! You don't suck. Some days however, do suck! Here is to a better day today:genie:\

Diva- hope you feel better soon, I'm with ya on TOM, I am so happy though, we leave for vacation next week and so I want to not have it while I am away! But that did not stop me from being ticked with the scale this am. I went to the movies with DH last night, ate dinner out OP, had no popcorn and did not lose a freaking thing!:tantrum:
I will also chat between challenges a bit, but I get overwhelmed when there is 5 pages in a day, so I'm not good at the beginning of the challenge.

Cait, feel better!

Dream - I agree with the scale bashing! I just joined a NSV challenge, trying to focus on those too, like shopping in my closet last weekend! So cool that even though the scale won't move, I'm shrinking back into my clothes. I think I will donate my fat clothes this time, so as soon as I start to gain a bit, I'll have to take it off then, before it becomes a big deal.

SoulBliss 04-05-2008 08:24 AM

We're almost done! :woohoo:

I wish all here the best, and a strong finish.

;)

caitbeans 04-05-2008 02:23 PM

Mavis- I am starting week 4 tomorrow, I am so nervous- it looks like a killer! I think I am going to sign up for a 5K in May- I found one that I might do..have you thought about entering any yet?

I was able to get to the gym yesterday, I did some C25K and then the stairmill even though I felt yucky- that stairmill is a killer- I sweated like a horse!

caitbeans 04-05-2008 02:24 PM

Oh yeah, I am down SIX POUNDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

michie 04-05-2008 04:02 PM

Hey team!

Man I had a rough week! I was super busy with work and all of the pressure that my evil supervisor is putting on me, and I had TOM to deal with as well. It wasn't pretty. Nearly had a nervous breakdown! Well... not really.. but maybe. Anyway, I ate really bad the whole time too. I have been cleansing, but I forgot to take the supplements twice, so I'm not sure how bad that is. I guess I'll see when I finish.

I am eating light this weekend and I went to the gym, so I am already doing better than last week. I love to run now. I think I am going to start the C25K. I just need to move my butt! Brande... I haven't forgot about you! I wasn't able to be on all week, so I didn't have your number! This week should be much better, so let's do it!

I'm off to do some spring cleaning now! Yay! Have a great one and stay POP!

mothermavis 04-06-2008 07:23 AM

Cait, six pounds! I am impressed. I have thought about a 5k, but I haven't entered one yet, there's one locally in May, maybe I'll shoot for that too.

I actually just got all the paperwork together for a half marathon in September. I'm thinking seriously about entering that and spending the summer training.

Michie, welcome back.

caitbeans 04-06-2008 07:25 AM

Mavis- I just found a half marathon in september too- I wonder if I will be ready in time- I am thinking of doing the 5K in May and the half marathon in September- I won't have school all summer- the only thing I'll have to do is work part time- so I think I'll have time to train- I just wonder if it is too soon?

Dea 04-06-2008 07:44 AM

caitbeans...congrats on the 6 pounds!! And..good luck with training for the marathon. That is something i would like to work towards aswell. Maybe next year!
hope4me..I haven't tried the 'Shred' but the TBL cardio and sculpt DVDs I have also contain alot of plank and push up stuff. I am getting better at them though!
Mavis...how long is a half marathon? Are you following a specific program to train of that?
Michie...sorry about the 'evil supervisor'. I just started the C25K aswell..now that the weather seems to be more spring-like! It seems to be a fairly popular program at 3FC..have fun with it. there is another thread on here somewhere, and quite a few of our black team post there.

Not expecting a loss this week...totally lost focus this weekend.
Hope everyone else has a good final weigh in!

mothermavis 04-06-2008 07:48 AM

I've been reading the non-runners marathon guide for women by Dawn Dais, funny, funny book if you get a chance. There is both a half and a full marathon training schedule, they are 20 weeks long, so depending on your date....you could probably work on the full schedule and then you'd likely be more than ready for the half in September and maybe a full at Thanksgiving....

Anyone reading "Does this Clutter Make My Butt Look Fat?"?

Michie, I am going out of town this week (just to Irvine) but please call me when you have a moment so we can coordinate. I bought a bathing suit (EEK!!!) :o and want to do more aqua aerobics classes.

I ended up buying a Lane Bryant suit because of my discounts, "Real Women Dollars" and such, but, jeez, WHO is making these things? They are so poorly made, so NOT well thought out in design and the cloth on the bottoms is so thin that it is SEE THROUGH!!! :(

So, I ended up getting a skirted one so that my bottom isn't completely visible through the see through bottom. :( I really deliberated but knew that the one I am using now just is NOT okay for aqua aerobics anymore, so I went ahead and did it.

I tried on 4 different ones and went with this one:

SoulBliss 04-06-2008 11:10 AM

Here's what I ate yesterday:

2 Boca burgers with lettuce, mustard, Vegenaise, pickle slices, tomato slices and onion.

Delicious stir fry: Broccoli slaw, water chestnuts, garlic scapes, onion, red bell pepper, seitan, extra virgin coconut oil, rice wine vinegar, cayenne, sesame seeds, umeboshi vinegar and an herb and spice blend.

1.5 oz. Dagoba Conocado (87% Dark) with 1.5 oz. sliced toasted almonds.

2 cups zucchini with Red Hot, 2 T. pine nuts, black pepper and 1 tsp. extra virgin coconut oil.

Flax and Soy chips (I am going to avoid buying these again any time soon).

Teas (Coconut Chai, Slimlife Green Tea).

Sparkling berry essence water (Crystal Geyser brand, no sugar/no substitutes).

"Regular" water!

Diva 04-06-2008 03:45 PM

Well, I finally broke down and had the hip looked at. One week of non-exercise is ALL this girl can take. I'm telling ya, I get downright grumpy! Anyways, it's Hip Bursitis. I was told to take a few more rest days and given a script for some pain meds that I most likely WILL NOT have filled. I mean a couple of ibuprofens and the the boo-boo bag (iced) Melissa gave me works pretty dagum'ed good. Also, I rested an entire week! There is NO way in **** I am not hitting the GYM this week. Jess had (has) bursitis on his knee and worked right through it, and even has to work directly on his knees everyday and his is better so... It recommends weight reduction, and stretching exercises, well DAH! That's what I was trying to do when it happened! LOL!

I have gotten to where anymore, I stay OP much better when I hit the GYM to workout than I do when I am @ home to exercise. In fact, when I am @ home, I can find MANY excuses NOT to workout, yanno what I mean??? The scale has not moved at all, and it's frustrating. apparently, I have to exercise AND eat healthy to lose weight! Who'da thunk it? :dizzy:

SoulBliss 04-06-2008 04:13 PM

Diva, glad you got it checked out and it isn't serious.

If I ever can't get to the gym, it is harder to stay OP, for sure.

Here's a thought about mindfulness for all teams:

Open to awareness

"Mindfulness means moment-to-moment, non-judgmental awareness. It is cultivated by refining our capacity to pay attention, intentionally, in the present moment, and then sustaining that attention over time as best we can. In the process, we become more in touch with our life as it is unfolding."

-- Myla & Jon Kabat-Zinn

Why do we want to become more aware?

If we remain unaware, we:
- repeat the past,
- remain stuck in relationships,
- live superficial, literal and one dimensional lives,
- lack experiences of love and beauty, and
- have limited connection to others and the universe.

With awareness, we are fully involved with life. Awareness is sensing deeply and sensitively for what really is. To do this, we need to approach the present as totally new. When we can be open and attentive in each moment, we begin to free ourselves from the conditioning of the past and the suffering that it so often brings.

"If moment by moment you can keep your mind clear then nothing will confuse you."

-- Sheng Yen

mothermavis 04-06-2008 06:59 PM

Dea, a half marathon is 13.1 miles and I am going to follow the program in the the non-runners marathon guide as soon as I finish C25k ( I have 2 weeks left)

dream710 04-07-2008 07:26 AM

Morning team! Its hard to believe todays the last weigh in for this challenge. I hope everyone achieved their goals for this challenge or at least made a step in the right direction.

Diva- thanks for telling us about daily plate. I started using it on thursday and am loving it. It is easier to use because their food base is soo much bigger than fitday. I also like the forums, I don't chat but I like checking out the recipes and the exercise reviews. I'm glad to hear that your hip problems are nothing tooo serious. Hopefully you'll be able to ease back into exercise, you were doing so great on getting your exercise in.

Soul-did you not like the flax and soy chips? Your stir fry sounds yummy...of course my family wouldn't eat it. Last night we had chicken and peppers DD kept complaining she didn't like it. I thought about buying "Does this clutter..." but then opted for Bob's book. Are you reading it?

Cait-great job on 6lbs.

Michie-whens the last day of work?

Mother-you're doing great on your running, its good that your setting goals for yourself. A marathon WOW! I'd love to do a 5k but I've been slacking on my running.

Hope-I'm wanting to get jillians shred dvd. I have to wait til I get back from Detroit to see if I have any money left.

Besides jillians shred dvd, I'm thinking about Turbo jam and a bender ball. Anyone use either of those?

160/1500 minutes
3.5/35 miles

Diva 04-07-2008 08:00 AM

Your very welcome Dream. :) I love TDP too. I like the groups more so than the forums. I've joined a couple. I can't believe this is the last day too. :( I hope everyone keeps chatting and I hope some of the newbies that are signing up start chatting with us too.

My goal for the WMB challenge was 20 lbs. I lost half that. I lost 10.8 LBS. :) That's pretty good too considering I never lost anything in the previous challenges. So I'm happy. I had to post a .4 oz gain this week. I blame it on not being able to go to the gym. It's much harder for me to stay on plan without it, I had 4 (I think) HIGH calorie days, so only gaining .4 is amazing. It'll be easier to stay OP today with the guys at school & work, and I am going to the GYM! I'm gonna go easy on the TM and do some yoga.

Anywho, I have loved meeting everyone of you and it was an honor be losers (hehe) with you all! Good luck in between Challenges, and I hope ahill & Michie decided to come back!

Have a Great Day Everyone.

tamaralynn 04-07-2008 08:10 AM

I figured I was a good girl all week. I ate my calories (or just under) drank plenty of water, walked like my life depended on it (except for when it snowed, I used my elliptical). I didn't weight my self all week. When I stepped on my scale yesterday it said I was UP a pound??? WTH? Of course TOM could be a factor... but still ARRRGH!

Anyways, Good job girls! whether we win or not, I'm proud of you all! :)

Diva - best wishes for a speedy recovery on that hip :) I know what pain "med" prescriptions are like, I never get em myself. Advil Migraine strength always does it for me pain wise. I broke my tailbone a couple of years ago, I tried Tylenol 3's for a day, and chucked em. I hated feeling "high" at work. Plus they didn't really get rid of the pain, they just maksked it with feeling high. The Advil really helps with the pain.

Thanks for commenting. I don't like feeling like I am talking in a cave *echo* *echo* *echo* :^:

As far as the chips go, I liked them TOO MUCH and wanted to eat the entire bag. :o

The stir fry was so good, colorful and satisfying. How old is your DD?

I got "Does this clutter make my butt look fat" as a freebie and it's reasonable, honest and a good read so far. I have a lot of clutter, due to being so busy and focused on achieving goals. I guess a healthy body is such a priority for me right now that addressing the clutter takes a back seat. I know that the reality is, I need to have a clear mind, house etc. to have the life I desire. I'm working on it. Add it to the list

Well, it's the end of another challenge, my second one.

I've learned that I am stronger than ever. I've seen that there are some very kind and some very broken women in this world and that the two aren't always mutually exclusive. We all have much in common, different as we all are. What else is new? Add THAT to the list!

I truly wish you all the best. :carrot:

I'm proud of what I have accomplished and how I did it. I am proud that many have reached or exceeded their goals along with me on all teams. I am also proud that all who stuck with the challenge finished along with me.

Thank you all, you've all shown me something important about yourself and about me too, during this time together!

WoooooHooooo! Look at that cute little figure you are sporting gf!!! I'm so proud of you! :D

We are going to Dollywood on May10th for Jesse's company pic-nic, so I am setting a 10 lb goal for myself for that! It would be nice to be out of the 190's by then. :) I dunno why, but I am afraid to get on the rides as a heavy girl....I fear I will break them or something. :dizzy:

ceegee 04-07-2008 10:24 AM

Morning all!

I can't believe it is the end of this challenge! Congrats to everyone for completing it!

Cait - good luck with your training!

Dea - good luck with the c25k

MM- How are you doing??

Soul - if clutter makes your *** big, then mine is HUGE, lol!

Diva - How is the hip? I hear you on pain meds - I can't take them, they make me sick.

Dream- Hiya!

Sally - you look so cute! Way to go!

YWeight 04-07-2008 10:58 AM

Morning All ! ! !

Was this a great weekend or WHAT? I think I have finally busted my plateau...down -5.6 ! ! ! !

As excited as I am about this, I am sad the challenge is over. You ladies have truly challenged and encouraged me. As I have read through the board these many weeks, I have seen where I have been in a few of you, and I look forward to getting to where some of you are.

I had considered doing personals, but I know I would leave someone out and I don't want to do that...Everyone, please know that your thoughtful words and comments, as well as your posts of trials and tribulations were noticed and greatly appreciated. Here's to the BLACK TEAM

(I'm not signing off....I just wanted to get this out there, before others signed off and I didn't have a chance to express my thanks to everyone. I'm off to a meeting, I'll be back in a bit.)

ahill1979 04-07-2008 11:36 AM

Good morning all.

I can't believe it is the last weigh in already. I will miss this challenge and all of you that made it what it was. I am proud of everyone that stuck it out to the end. I am amazed at each and everyone of you for your dedication and hard work. You guys helped me stay on track more than you will ever know. For that I say Thank you.

I let the politics of the challenge upset me a week or two ago. That is when I decided not to particapate in the next challenge. Now that the end is here I am sad about that decision. I will miss you all!

Good luck on the final weigh in everyone. You have all done fantastic. Congrats!

Diva 04-07-2008 12:08 PM

Manda, it's not too late, sign ups are open until April 19th I believe. :) You can even choose your team. :) I hope you come back!

Well, as you all know, I couldn't take it any longer, so I headed out to the GYM today! I feel excellent, even though the hip is tender....I'm about to ice it. I'm telling ya, I get downright GRUMPY when I can't exercise.

Anywho, I did:
1 hour on the Treadmill
15 minutes weights (Chest & legs)
15 Yoga stretching. :)

Ceegee, I am not even getting them pain meds filled. I don't like how they make me feel. If and when I get pain and soreness, I'll just pop some ibuprofen or Aleve and ice it. I can't allow this to slow me down. I wanna drop 10 more by May 10th!!!

SoulBliss 04-07-2008 12:18 PM

Yeah, I don't like the politics of any of this ONE BIT!!! I like a lot of the rest though! ;)

You can still change your mind!

Although, I read that there may not be a Black Team next time. :dizzy:

Apparently, it's in deliberation. Shame that it's even being considered, too, since the request thread is FULL of Black Team requests and there are so many people who sign up in general.

Diva 04-07-2008 12:25 PM

I think if we have as many peoples sign up for this next challenge as we got for The WMB one, we will still have 3 teams. :) But if not it'll be okay. The challenges will still be great. ;)

Diva 04-07-2008 01:10 PM

Oh! I forgot to mention, that FINE a$$ muscle dude was there today! I swear, this man totally distracts me. I told him he has pretty muscles today. Lordy, I need a :smoking: just thinking about him...

ggmugsy 04-07-2008 01:38 PM

You girls are so funny!

Sxculmonkey (spell?) Can I just say I think of you as sex monkey?? lol. Your pics are awesome! Congratulations on getting into those pants!!

Soul: I'm with you on soy chips . . . they are a binge food for me!! Come to think of it, stir fry can be, too. ;)

Cait - 6 pounds?? Good grief woman!! Congratulations!

Dream710 - Nice to see you at the beach!!

Diva - Honey, my husband gets bursitis in his toe and he LOVES Aspercreme. You can get it at the grocery store. It's just a topical pain relieving lotion so it won't mess with your head or with your flirtations with the as$ man. :)

My weigh in was great. Down 1.8. I'll take it!! That's the best loss I've had in a long time.

I did sign up for the next challenge but I have a lot to do between now and then so I'm probably going to be kind of scarce until it starts. I truly hope there's another BLACK TEAM!!!

Thank you everybody for your support and encouragement! You are all wonderful!!

Dea 04-07-2008 01:55 PM

Thanks for the fun this time around ladies!!
I didn't contribute very much, but maybe winter is just not a good time for me to loose weight (I am looking for excuses, but really there aren't any!!)
Congrats to everyone who met their goals...or came close, and had fun trying!
I am really looking forward to the next challenge...and whether there is a black team or not, we have all had a great time sharing with eachother, getting to know eachother, laughing, encouraging, and learning, and the possibility of doing it again, with some old friends and some new ones sounds good to me!
Thanks again ladies for a great 12 weeks...time flies when you are having fun!
And thanks to the team leaders for keeping us all on track!
see you all in a couple of weeks!

LondonJulz 04-07-2008 03:24 PM

for the final time....

it's WEIGH-IN DAY!
Please have your FINAL weigh-in post updated by 11:59 EST tonight!

Don't pull a Julie and forget to update it... :dizzy:

It's bittersweet to have the challenge come to a close again. I'll miss all of you, as with the last time around - this time was a roller coaster ride. But, it'll be nice to have a little bit of a reprieve to gather my chicks as they say. I'll still be checking in with the chat on here. I find that it's easier for me to stay on track that way, being accountable.
