Hello...
I was at a home barbecue yesterday, and lady giving it was on MRC diet with me.She is ready to come over to Atkins, as can't maintain . Morning before I went to barbecue I had an omelet with Jenny O lean sausage, tomatoes, and slight sprinkling of basil Omelet large as I was trying to keep myself full. My friend had a dessert for me in freezer that was delicious. I did not gain eating it.. I am on phase #2. I appreciated that, as the desserts at barbecue were all off limits. She took ready made jello, put in blender with some Greek Yogurt, some stevia sweetener and blended it and froze it for awhile..Sprinkled some raw almonds on top. It was delicious and very refreshing... I did not gain this morning with it or any of the food I ate, and I ate plenty.. I did well at barbecue. Ate lots of protein and veggies, and kept myself full. I will weigh in tomorrow. There was plenty of diet drinks there, so had some and stayed away from wine. How did you all do that ate out for holiday? Dee |
Good morning!
We had 3 days of watching our youngest and oldest grandson play baseball so i got to pretty much eat my meals at home but when we went out i stuck with low carb burger. Friday night i did splurge and eat at dairy queen and gained 1.6 lbs but as of this morning i've lost it. It's nice that i don't get upset. I posted before that this will be lifestyle change and i know if i want to have something off plan i will lose the few lbs i do gain. But it won't be all the time. rpm3060: Congrats on your great holiday and no gain. |

Tuckers b-day party went good. we had fun making his cake..Attachment 47633 When I got home we fired up the grill with steak, zucchini and potatoes for the hubby and coleslaw, and I had 4 beers. Me and hubby sat on the porch last night and watched our neighbors fireworks till the rain started.. While we were siting on the porch we heard lots of frogs and one sound that was different, it sounded like a turkey, but there was no turkey.. Hubby was walking around with a flashlight,, we seen lots of frogs, is there a frog that sound like a turkey.. If they are we heard it.. lol my weight is up almost 1 pound this morning, but this will come off soon. Like you said skelly, this is a lifestyle change and I am going to give myself treats sometimes... Now back to normal.. Have a great day everyone.. :)

candy...love the cake!
ficklehearts...a burger is just not the same, I know. Did you actually like it? I've stayed away from trying it. I do want to try the cheeseburger casserole though chased the dog most of the night those loud noises are 'bad guy's and he wants to get them...the other 2 just slept through it all, dh and I played video games and basically forgot to eat, munched on a few pork rinds and egg mix |
It wasn't that bad smith1313, not something I'd want all the time, but edible. I wanted to do steaks but I live in tourist central, so the store was sold out. I had to settle, but if I am to be honest with myself, they really weren't bad.
I'm not losing weight and I think I've been pretty dang good. I thought for sure after TOM was over I'd drop something, but blah. And my clothes aren't fitting any better either, but it's hard to tell with them. Hubby has lost 22 lbs in two weeks and while I'm ecstatic for him, I also want to throttle him. The only artificial sweetener I use is splenda, and even then it's two packs a day in my coffee, and then whatever is in the Sparkling Ice drink I have and tea at home. At work I mostly drink water and one cup of coffee. I cut out diet coke, save for the occasional weekend treat. Last two days have been pretty clean. Sat - pollo loco( grilled chicken breast in cheese sauce and grilled veggies) one lettuce burger and one bunless hotdog, plus deviled eggs Sun - lasagna in a mug (if I ate the whole thing it would have been 10g of carb, but I only at half as cheese is filling to me) grilled pork chops with cabbage and stewed squash 4 deviled eggs as a snack. I tried the ketostix, I barely show a small trace. My BFF says it could be the splenda, but I've never had it affect me before :( It's the only thing I know to cut out though. Other than the sugar free candy slip that one day and nibble of an O'Charley's chicken tender on Friday, I've been pretty on plan. And that nibble should not have put me over 20g for the day. Sorry for the book post. I'm just getting a little discouraged. My friend suggested we do an egg fast for a few days, but there are only so many ways I like eggs LOL. That being said, if things don't start moving soon, it's my last resort. Sounds like everyone had a great 4th! My BFF and my two god-kids came over so we played Risk, the good old fashioned board game LOL, grilled burgers and dogs, and then watched fireworks over the bay. It was fun! |
I had weigh in and I gained one pound.. I will not beat myself up on it.. May the eating out did it, who knows but today is another day.. I will go over my last week food ledger to see if I see any triggers.
Wishing you all a great weight loss week. Dee |
B: Protein shake
Blueberries L: Chopped salad with bacon and tomato Snack: Beef jerky and mozzarella stick D: Provolone and bacon stuffed chicken, mixed veggies Exercise: 20 minutes on treadmill, 10% incline @ 2.5mph 15 minutes kickboxing |

I still have got to get off what I gained from Saturday...Have a great day everyone.. im gonna eat on plan and then bed early, got to get up in the morning at 3am for another 9 hour shift...
|
ficklehearts...had a good checkup lately? sluggish thyroid?
after 9 hours I'm nibbling on spicy pork rinds getting the courage to tackle 4 miles on the treadmill then go jump in the pool |
Well candy I think I'm still paying for my Dairy Queen splurge too but that's fine it will come off! Today was busy now just relaxing. Sounds like you have had a ongoing day have fun at your grandsons birthday!! :carrot:
|
Had too much fun over the long holiday weekend!!! Went to the beach and boating for 2 days. Did pretty well food wise-- chicken, steak, salads, beef sticks, spicy pork rinds- lots of walking, swimming-
did have some mich ultras and ate too much chocolate :( Bouncing back today w salad and chicken for lunch, dinner -chicken and broccoli NO chocolate!!! |
Still no weight loss. I've discovered I do not like stevia at all, the aftertaste is gross. I guess I'll just drink water for a few days. It won't kill me I suppose..... LOL
Yesterday: B - deviled eggs skipped lunch D - grilled pork chops, cabbage, and stewed squash Today B-last of the deviled eggs probably skipping lunch again if the eggs fill me up like they did yesterday D - parmesan crusted chicken tenders and steamed broccoli with butter Started walking my dogs in the evening after it gets a little cooler. 2 miles a day starting out. I'm not sure I can push them farther LOL. They collapse when we get back, spoiled mutts. |
New - Need Accountability Partners
Hi, I'm new. I used to blog on Atkins web site, but the site no longer works for me -. I looking for accountability partner(s), and to give and receive encouragement, motivation, and help with emotional eating. I'd love to hear from others going thru the same. I've lost 25 poinds since January 1. Been stalled since 1st of June, but back on track as of yesterday. I need to lose at least 40 more pounds.

You will find lots of support here, check out our weight loss challenges too! :carrot: |
Hi everyone!
I have been thinking of joining Atkins and following the program. I was wondering if you guys could let me know your thoughts and experiences on the program? For example, your rate of weight loss, maintainance program (if any), and how you feel when you're on it, etc... I have read an overview on things, and it sounds like you can have as much of the foods as you want as long as it does not go lower than 18g net carbs or 22g net carbs (15g being veggies), is that true??? Or do you need certain amounts of each food group allowed? Also, how do you count the Atkins snacks?? Just towards the carb amount? Thank you so much :) |
ficklehearts... I can't do processed sweeteners at all, the leave a horrible taste, some even say it stalls weight loss
i have soooo bad cravings today.....I haven't been drinking my water like I should and hope if I increase they will go away. I chomped on a couple breakfast sausage before walmart on my way home but those milky way and almond joys sure did look good in the checkout line |

smith1313 Thank you! I appreciate the thoughts. So do I have the right idea with the plan? I am just a bit confused - I am used to counting things through food groups, not necessarily every food group adding up to the net carb allotments.
|
welcome chavey47......Lots of support here. Have not heard from Larry for awhile. hope all is ok at home .He is such an inspiration to this group.

Welcome to Susanne and charvey!
Susanne - you still have to be somewhat mindful of calories, but to an extent, you can eat what you want of the induction food list till your full. Watch out for excess cheese and dairy, it can make people stall. You'll have to tinker with it to see if you are one of them. I'm not familiar with the newest Atkins, I'm doing DANDR. It says to stay away from nuts for the first two weeks then you can add them back, but too many of them can also make you stall. Otherwise what works for me is - meat, full fat foods, and approved veggies. I find I eat more veggies on this diet than on my normal one! Watch the carb content of your meat too. As smith said, a lot of processed luncheon meat has hidden sugars, as does bacon and sausage. I found a brand of bacon that doesn't so just watch labels. What you will find too after two weeks is your appetite decreases, a lot which in turn means you don't eat as many calories. I also find a great many other benefits, mainly just generally feeling better. As for weight loss, the first time I did low carb I lost 15 lbs the first two weeks alone, then it dropped off to a more reasonable 1-2 lbs a week with minor wooshes. The initial massive weight loss is due to glycogen stores being depleted which boils down to water weight really. That first time around I lost overall 40 lbs in three months and dropped three sizes, but I was religious about the diet and exercising. This time around, I've lost 4 lbs and haven't seen a drop since LOL. My initial two weeks ended yesterday. But I'm 15 years older and my hormones just hate me. Plus, the diet never works as well the second time around they say. I'm learning a great deal of patience! Grats on your progress Charvey! Smith - I feel your pain with the cravings. Mine aren't around anymore, but for some reason I keep dreaming about bread and chocolate cake at night LOL. Still no loss here for me, but I'm maintaining, so I'll be happy with that. It could be anything from too much salt to adding in the exercise. Shrugs. I'm going to keep on keeping on! Not sure if anyone has ever tried them, but heroin chicken tenders are awesome! No, no illegal drugs on them, just parmesan cheese, but I understand now why the person named them that! |
Slowly but (hopefully) surely-
Good morning all-
This mornings stats- 307/290/165 Good luck to all-:beach::beach: |
Hi everyone!
Charvey-I'm also coming over from Atkins board :) Susanne-I definitely recommend reading a book. I've read them all-lol. I find the original: Dr.Atkin's New Diet Revolution to be the most enthusiastic/motivating. I like the way the science is explained best in: A New Atkins for a New You and the easiest to read is not surprisingly, Atkins Made Easy (which has some great success stories in it). Aside from the weight loss, I enjoy being in ketosis: more energy, better moods, less joint pain etc... Smith-although my cravings greatly diminish I do occasionally miss the "idea" of some foods. If I make the mistake of indulging I find that I get this odd "hollow" feeling in my stomach and it's never worth it. I just keep reminding myself of that... Ficklehearts-I'm also not a fan of the aftertaste, same with the sugar alcohols though they do have a bit of a laxative effect which I sometimes need (TMI) I'm doing well-trying not to weigh myself everyday which is a bit of a challenge. So now I'm sleeping with water next to my bed and drink it before heading to the bathroom (as I know I won't step on the scale after downing 16oz-lol) |
JSK77 - yeah, that laxative effect is sometimes the only reason I eat them too. Then I feel bad because I feel like I just ruined everything so I started using magnesium citrate powder for that problem! Works okay so far.
Man, the humidity down here in sunny Florida is killing me on my evening walk. I'm ready for Fall! |
FickleHearts Thank you for the thorough response! My only question left would be how do you count the atkins snacks? Should you have one a day? Two a day? Or can you have none?
JSK77 Thank you for the warm welcome! I have ordered the book online the other day - I am excited to get it so I can get started! |

I personally don't eat the Atkins products, but I'd probably limit them to one a day at the most if I did. Some people can handle the artificial sweetners, some can't. I try to get most of my carbs from veggies, not always successful, but I do try. I'm still on the fence on whether or not it's the artificial sweets stalling me, mainly because I just don't want to give them up. They keep me sane! Of course the only ones I've had recently have been Splenda in my coffee and tea. Trying Swerve today and so far it's pretty good with no aftertaste and apparently its GI is 0.
I love Florida, born and raised! Ditto on the dish rag, not so crazy about the 100% humidity of late. Thank God for John Gorrie and A/C. (Which I proudly live in the town he invented it!) Still nada on the scale. I however feel a whoosh coming on. I've been straight and narrow on the food and even plugged in calories which I was under. Something has to give sooner or later! At least I'm now officially maintaining the 233. Yesterday B-two srambled eggs in coconut oil, bacon, coffee with splenda and cream L - skipped. Man, eggs for some reason just fill me up D - taco salad and deviled eggs, the Taco salad just became DH's new favorite so I foresee it being a weekly staple. |
For anyone in phase 2.... Any recommendations for a low carb flat bread, pita, tortilla. I have looked in every supermarket and no luck on the low carb. I also looked in health food store. They are very healthy but high in carbs .
Thanks Dee |

So far I've gotten things going again, I started drinking green tea w/SF vanilla creamer in the afternoons at work, (1) cup a day and wow! :carrot: my sister is doing atkins and she was stalled and she told me that the green tea is suppose to increase your metabolism and accelerate fat burn and I totally agree with her now. I've lost now a total of 6" from chest, waist and hips!!!
Ficklehearts: I use splenda all the time and it doesn't effect my weight loss, I use 2 packets every morning in my coffee, then usually 2-3 a day in my unsweet tea. I also drink my atkins mocha latte shake w/real coffee every morning 7 days a week and have my atkins endulge caramel squares every evening Yum, love these! I eat maybe 3-4 times a week as a snack the emerald 100 calories walnut/almonds pak in the evening or afternoon. I also eat on occasion 10 green olives stuffed with pimentos. Goodluck you will get your weight moving again, hang in there:carrot: |
FickleHearts- I'm also trying to steer clear of the Atkin's treats/snacks as I feel it triggers cravings for sweets (for me anyway). I also started magnesium and fiber supplements several days ago, so we shall see.
Skelley-I've got boxes and boxes of green tea just sitting in my cabinets-thanks for the reminder! Definitely worth at try. Tomorrow is my weigh day so I'm trying to be a bit higher fat/lower carb as my rings are tight (probably from all that sodium in last night's teriyaki chicken) |
rpm3060 I'm not moving to phase 2 anytime soon, but I do recommend Mama Lupe low carb tortillas. I used to get them on Amazon. I'm kinda addicted to Amazon LOL.
Skelley - I really like the Bigelow Green tea with blueberry and acai. Used to have a cup after coffee every morning. My coworker drank the last of it and I've haven't ordered anymore yet. I should get on that. I'm giving it to the weekend to see if I drop anything before I attempt to go truly Splenda-less. The Swerve was pretty good in my coffee this morning. I wouldn't have issues switching it out really, other than the price. Egads! |
I agree on the green tea.. I drink every day.. Love it iced in summer . Yesterday I made a large container of iced green tea and added 1 bag of the Celestial Seasonings Country Peach Passion Tea, caffeine free. This peach tea has no carbs, no sugar. I have growing spearmint.. Put a sprig in there and it was delightful.. The peach taste gives me the sweetness I may need.
As for the Atkins treats, it stops a craving for me immediately after eating, but every time I try, I gain weight... May try different ones and see what happens. |
Wow, today I am wearing a pair of crop miss me jeans that I haven't worn now for a year!! :carrot: Lost another 1/2" off waist and hips yahoo!!:D
|
Lost 1 lb this morning so here's hoping things are finally starting to move again. Still no change in my clothes although my BFF swears she can see some loss in my face.
Grats on the inches skelley! I'd much rather lose inches than lbs. :) Good luck on weigh in today JSK! |
New to site - need accountability partners
Hi everyone, I've been reading this thread, and I'd like to join you all if that's OK. I started Atkins Jan 5, have lost 28 pounds. Made onderland and haven't done anything since. Recommitted to following plan after taking the month of June off (Thank God, no weight gain). So I'm 5 days in and things are going well. Look forward to getting to know all of you.

Congratulations to you
