Ugggh...I went to the beach this weekend and totally got off my low carb eating plan. I'm not even going to mention what I ate Saturday and Sunday, but I've decided to fast from yesterday's dinner to this evening's dinner, and start fresh. I usually weigh myself every Monday, but I didn't dare get on it this morning! My tummy is roaring right now, and I'm drinking water left and right. I'll have a nice salad with chicken, melted cheddar, bacon bits and ranch dressing for dinner...and it'll make it all better! :)

Scale moving again

After almost 2 weeks of no weight gain or lose my scale is moving down again. I doubt I will reach my goal of 175 by April 16 so I am now shotting for 180:smug:

Fatklr just jump back on the wagon, it happens to the best of us.. keep on going :D

Has anyone tried those MIM's (Muffin in a Minute) they are always talking about on the Atkins.com board? Well, I did, and it came out awesome! You make it in a mug in the microwave, and then I cut it in two and toasted it, and the put butter on it. yummy! You need to buy flax meal. It is not hard to find, I actually found it in my regular grocery store. I get some good ideas from the Atkins FB page.

Yesterday I went out to eat, and ordered a delicious salad, it was very Atkins friendly. It came with 2 slices of the most delicious homemade bread on the side, and I told the waiter, "No thank you, we don't need bread":D Also turned down the wine, but ordered some fancy mineral water instead.

I can eat the bars or shakes, just not on the same day. If I use two on the same days, I have bathroom issues.:dizzy:

A gorgeous day out here, I am going to walk to the store to pick up more salad fixin's. That is the hardest part of this plan for me, keeping up with having all the fresh vegetables on hand. But I'm not complaining.

183.2 :) Still going down but shocking as I had a Halls again last night so I could get to sleep. I'm feeling a lot better today, still have the cough which I think is my body trying to get rid of the yuckiness in my throat.

I'm scared to try the MIM, I've heard they can be addictive and some people go overboard with them. Though it does seem like a good option if you have those bread cravings!

Congrats Steph, I'm happy the scale is moving for you.. just keep on going and don't stop. That's what I'm doing regardless if the scale moves or not. I'm changing somethings this week to see if it help with the scales so I'll see at the end of the week. What is funny to me is that I'll weigh myself and it'll be the same in the morning on an empty stomach, the same in afternoon after I've had lunch and drank a lot of water and the evening so something isn't quite right so I'm just going to keep on..I have a digital scale that I use so I'm just going to stick with it and I weigh in the same place all the time so who knows.. but I know it'll move eventually.. like I said I'm aiming for 6 pounds as the minimum for Easter, I can do it.

StephanieM 03-13-2012 12:01 PM

Typically when I weigh later on in the day I'm heavier than in the morning, Atkins is actually the only diet where I've weighed the same or less later in the day then I did that morning.

globetrotter74 03-13-2012 01:06 PM

I have no clue what is going on with my weight as I'll weigh the same all day even after a meal..

I did read where in Atkins where you will go through a stall.. look at Buck after 2 weeks her scale started to go back down.. so I guess I'm in a stall period maybe or my body holds water a lot, who knows but I have lost inches so that is a good thing.. I really need to go to scale addicts meeting LOL

Buck don't get discourage, Me too starting today, I'm writing down everything I eat and the calories as well.. sometimes on atkins we can eat a lot of meat etc.. and I can say for me wasn't really counting the calories. The last time I did this I counted my calories and carbs and was very successful at it. I always wrote down my calorie deficit for the day as 3500 deficit is one pound loss.. this works for me but setup a system that works for you.. I know if I have a deficit that eventually I will get a loss..

Buck you and I are the same height and goals are within 4 pounds of each other so we should try and encourage each other or be dieting partners.. I was thinking about going down to 120 but I'll see how I look at feel when I'm at 125..

KEEP ON GOING... :)

Thanks I am going to start back 110% tomorrow..not going to wait till Monday like the old saying diet starts on Monday. I have about 4 weeks till I am in Vegas so I am using that as an incentative to at least lose 10-15 more lbs. Thanks again for the encourgement:cool:

Serenity100 03-14-2012 06:46 PM

Don't worry about trying to make a MIM, they are a good alternative to eggs for breakfast, but they aren't that good that you can get addicted. Plus, you have to make them one at a time, so it's not like you have five in front of you that you can pig out on.

I had two very stressful days at work, and managed to stay on plan. I haven't been drinking diet coke since I started, but yesterday I had two large ones. I noticed that it caused me to retain some water, but now everything seems ok.

I weigh myself everyday, but I notice that it fluctuates, so I just have to stick with the number on weigh in day, whether I like it or not.:dizzy:

Don't give up, keep on doing it.

Oh, and I got some walking in, I forced myself to walk the mile to the store to pick up some more salad stuff and a mile back.:carrot:

StephanieM 03-14-2012 06:54 PM

183.0 :) Happy I'm still able to lose with the Halls. Also mixed a vanilla Atkins shake with some cold coffee and almond milk because I hadn't gotten enough calories, it was good! I'm actually going just over 20 carbs for the last few days and I noticed the weight loss has slowed but is still there. Not drinking on weekends because I've been sick helps too. Can't make any garuntees for St Patty's day though!

Baby got up at 1 am because the diaper rash is back, it's been a tough day. We're going to the walk in clinic when my husband gets home in an hour and a half. I need this thing gone!

globetrotter74 03-16-2012 08:04 AM

Hey Steph congrats on the weigh going down.. Take care of yourself is what is most important and you are doing good.. finally my weigh as started to go down so I'm happy. I should be 139/138 by Easter which is awesome.. Reading everyones post motivates me to keep going and don't let what the scale says affect me too much.. but I am addicted to the scale if I must say :dizzy:

rho1640 03-16-2012 10:44 AM

Buck - try getting something that is too snug to wear - and keep trying it on - sometimes when the scale stays the same the body is re-adjusting - kind of like it can't do both things at the same time when it reaches certain points.. I went thru my little "stuck" and I know I changed measurements during that time.

Buckaustink 03-16-2012 02:12 PM

So here it is another week and I have not lost or gained an ounce this week but I am still in ketosis. I did however stop talking the pill about two months ago and just today had TOM. Wondering if this will effect my weightloss. I have decided to forgo the BBQ this weekend as I don't wnat to be tempted.....:)

StephanieM 03-16-2012 03:29 PM

182.8 :) Slow and steady wins the race right?

I worked out that I'm losing about 1 lb to 1.5 lbs a week. Which means by summer I'll have lost an additional 15-20 lbs or around that. I'm 21 lbs from my pre pregnancy weight of 164 so I'm fine with that. I was happy at 164 though I look best at 150 ish (I want to go to 140 this time though).

I'm considering having a small cheat to see if that will help reset me so I'm losing quickly again. Even though the dinners at the in laws stalled me I would see quick losses sometimes afterwards. Maybe if I make it a controlled cheat it will do something? Still not sure if I want to do this though.

You'll get back to losing.. so keep on what you are doing.. I'm not sure about the going off the pill may have something to do with but I know it plays around with your hormones and some women retain more water with the pill..

If you are weak then don't go and put yourself in that situation. I maybe extreme here but I see if food is you weakness think of like a drug addict.. Of you are trying to get off drug then going to a party where drugs is all around isn't idea..

hey that is good that you are losing a loss is a loss.. I did hear after a cheat you tend to lose weight a bit more quikly.. I'm not sure how true that is but I've read on many different forums where some atkins dieters would give themself a day where they would eat whatever they want them went back to inductio and lost more weigh.. If you decide to do that let me know.. however I do realize that everyone is different

I totally agree with this. Jeans work the best for this. I would even go as far as buying yourself a pair of jeans in the next size down. I bought myself a pair of white jeans that are too tight now, but I am determined to wear them.

I can also always tell if I am retaining water if my ring gets tight. I notice that if it is a rainy day, I usually retain water.

I wouldn't avoid going to events just so I wouldn't tempt myself. We have to learn how to eat well for the rest of our lives. If you go to a BBQ, eat the meat and bring a big green salad along.

Keep on Doing It.

Thanks guys you are great. Another reason I am not going to the event is honeslty I have nothign to wear. I do have a size smaller jeans I will start trying on and see what happens. I thought about having a cheat day but I don't want to start down that slippery slope...thanks again for the support:smug:

airomatic 03-16-2012 09:02 PM

I have found if I have a cheat day I do lose quicker, it's just a matter of not overdoing it. It seems as if it resets my system. I try to eat on plan all day and then do the cheat at night so that way I'm not tempted to go off plan all day.

globetrotter74 03-17-2012 06:05 AM

I'm a bit too scared to try the cheat day LOL I'll wait until I reach goal. But it does appear that after a cheat people start to lose quicker.. maybe because it does reset the system.. I'm not sure on that one..

I would never try a "cheat" day either. For me it would be like an alcoholic "cheating" with a couple of shots of whiskey.

My point excatly Serenity! I wouldn't put myself in that situation as I don't have that control yet to stop. So no cheat day until I've reached goal and then I will be very hestitant.

Serenity100 03-18-2012 08:12 AM

Happy Sunday! It has been very quiet around here lately, hope all is well.

Sunday is my weigh-in day and drum roll please. . . .2 lbs of fat gone!:carrot:

That gives me a total of 9 lbs in three weeks.:)

Since my goal was to lose 10 by Easter, I think I am gonna make it. I am going to up that to 12 lbs total by Easter.

I walked 3 days last week. I need to up that to 5/7 days of exercise. If it is raining, I will do the exercise bike or treadmill. (sad that we have this stuff in my home and I don't use them, I know. Have to work on that)

Going to try another Atkins recipe this week. The cauliflower crust pizza. Will report back.

Going to stick 100% on plan, it's been working so far. I'm using the NEW plan, have an occasional bar or shake. I have decided to not have any alcohol until May 19th. Why? Because I have a wedding to go to that day, and want to look good.:) I'm not sure how alcohol is going to affect the weight loss.

One last thing, in this novel. . . .last week I ate out 4 meals!:dizzy: And I managed to still lose. I ordered the salad with chicken each time, and drank water. Out of necessity, I actually had to order the salad at Pizza Hut in Walmart. For the record, the chicken was really good. The salad part gross.

Keep on doing it!

globetrotter74 03-18-2012 11:18 AM

Congrats on the loss serenith woohoo:carrot: you should be doing the carrot dance. 9lbs in 3 weeks is great that's like 2.5 pounds a week which is good.

I'm going to make 6 pounds by Easter not sure if I'll do 10 but I'll take 6. I don't blame you for sticking with the plan 100% you have to do what works for you. Counting carbs and my calories and exercising 4 days a week as got me back on the weight loss movement. I told myself that I'd like to lose 2 - 3 lbs a week and if I can do that great. They say losing weigh slowly is the way to go espeically if you are getting close to goal..

I like the idea of waiting until the wedding before having alcohol. I'm going to wait until I reach goal..:p

keep on going..

How is everyone doing on the Easter Challenge? I won't be no where near a 20 pound loss but maybe around 8. I'll take it :D

Well it seems that cutting back on cheese and nuts is working for me. Lost 2lbs this week so far..hope everyone else is doing good

Hi everybody! Hope it's not too late to join the Easter challenge... Love Atkins and has been the only plan for me, just started about 2 and a half to 3 weeks ago and feeling good about the results so far. Has anyone used the Ketosis strips before? I was considering them just as a reassurance that I was in Ketosis since I plan on staying in induction for the long haul but wasn't sure how well they worked.

Good luck to all of you!

My goal for Easter...-10 pounds.

hi minoja and I don't think it is a problem to join the Easter Challenge at all..

personally I've never used the strips as I knew I was in ketosis with the metal mouth taste and bad breathe LOL a few on here have used the strips so maybe someone will reply back with some advice

Hi Globe,

8 is good, considering you don't have that much to lose. I noticed that you are currently living in Italy, so I give you credit, staying away from all that delicious Italian food and wine. You have great will power.

My goal is 12, and for the Love of God I better make it.:dizzy: I lost 9 already, so 3 more to go. If I don't lose a lb this week, I am going to cut out the cheese and the Atkins bars. But I hope I lose. I am going out with the girls tonight to the Cheesecake Factory. Goodbye to my martinis, and cheesecake. I am going to order mineral water, and any Atkins friendly salad they have on the menu. Then I have Friday and Saturday to get off any of the water weight I may gain from the salty food.:) We have to make this our lifestyle, not a diet, or we will gain it all back. . .for me like the last 10 times I lost weight:mad: Refuse to do that any longer. I'm too old for that.

I've been OffP this week, finals and work and everything got the best of me but I'm back on. I'm still aiming for 15 pound total loss, I was 219 yesterday so that leaves me 7 pounds in 2 weeks.

globetrotter74 03-23-2012 02:10 AM

Hi Serenity, I've lived in Italy now for almost 5 years and believe me after year 2 the pasta and pizza gets old. Since Italy is carb city you do have to have will power here or you will fall off the wagon for sure. I will be coming back home to the states at the end of June.

I think you will reach your goal we have 2 more weeks and 3 pounds in 2 weeks is doable. I'm hoping to be at least 138/139 by easter which is 4 pounds I'm aiming for. Since TOM is around the corner I'm not sure but I'm going to try my darnest..
