Okay, my office is torture! It's constant food. Just today they ordered these huge breakfast sandwiches in for everybody and after lunch, there is strawberry short cake for everyone. Oh, and to top it off, I got a lecture from someone who went on and on about how stupid doing Atkins is! Grrr.

airomatic 03-23-2012 03:35 PM

cldwy: just make sure you bring your own food and extra snacks to munch on throughout the day. I work at a facility for kids and the food in the fridge is never Atkins friendly and birthdays are the worst because they do pizza and cake, I know your pain way too well. I try to bring a couple of salads plus snacks, I'd rather have too much food than too little. I know it's different working at an office but there's still things you can do to stay on track :)

Could you just take the filling out of the bread and eat it with a fork on a plate? That is what I would do. I don't know which version of Atkins you are doing, but maybe keep some of the shakes in your drawer for the times when everyone is pigging out on cake, you can have a 'milkshake". Did the person who was saying how stupid Atkins is, know you are doing Atkins? What a jerk. Just ignore them, and laugh in their face when you are skinny. I don't tell people I am doing Atkins, I just saying I am watching carbs. It is none of their business.

minoja75 03-23-2012 05:17 PM

Picked up some Ketostrips and even though I tested in the middle of the day it was positive! So happy to know that I am still on the right track, I was afraid I was eating too much some things because it has been a little too easy to stay op lately...not that I'm complaining.

Serenity100 03-24-2012 10:53 AM

Happy Saturday! Hope everything is going well with all. I was reading some threads on another Atkins chatboard, and it seems that stalls are the norm with Atkins, whether you eat the packaged food or not. So don't give up. What the consensus says is to measure yourself, and you should be seeing inches lost, so that means it is still working. Also, unless you go 4 weeks without weight loss it is not considered a plateau.

I think I am going to try adding some of the Greek yogurt starting next week. I need to have calcium and also want to add a little variety to my diet. I know I can add nuts, but I am skipping that altogether. I don't get any joy out of eating 1oz of nuts, I rather eat something else.

Serenity100 03-25-2012 07:19 AM

Today is weigh-in day for me. Lost 2 lbs.:carrot: I was actually shocked. I am especially pleased with this weight loss because I used very good self-control this week and it paid off. Sometimes you do all the right things and your body just doesn't cooperate.

Also, I stuck to my goal of walking 5/7 a week.

i'm rethinking adding the yogurt. Maybe berries should come first.

I found a good place to find lots and lots of information about Atkins. Just google Atkins diet bulletin board and it will bring you there.

Keep on doing it!

globetrotter74 03-25-2012 07:51 AM

Congrats Serenity on the 2 lbs woohoo I'm dancing with you :D As you see self control does pays off and sometimes your body has a delayed response to the things that you do, well at least mines does LOL

I'm aiming for 2 pounds this week and 2 pounds next week. I should be able to do it.

You know I'm not a big yogurt fan at all but I would do the berries first LOL but maybe someone on here will give you their opinion on that one..

minoja75 03-25-2012 04:06 PM

3 weeks left until Easter! Last weigh in did not go well, hoping for the next one to make up for it. Staying on plan, no cheating and keep moving...I figure as long as I can say I am doing all that then the scale doesn't matter too much.

Good luck to you all!

Hang in there minoja and don't let the scale discourage you too much. If you stuck to plan and did not cheat then the scale will move. That happened to me but after a few days it started to go down. I'm sticking to my plan also and having cheated since I started atkins. I hope to lose at least 5 pounds by Easter which is 2.5 pounds a week I can do it and will try my best.

good luck to everyone this week and hoping we all get losses..we all want to be losers :D

minoja75 03-25-2012 06:29 PM

Thanks globetrotter and good luck to you! I think staying on plan is definitely the key.

globetrotter74 03-26-2012 02:49 PM

Definitely staying on plan is the key..as long as you know that you are doing the right thing the scale will move. remember with us women we have TOM and water retention so our weight will go up and down.. TOM is coming so I'm going to put off weighing myself until TOM has gone. Last time it was like 4 days after TOM that my weight went down, but at least I know.

Serenity100 03-26-2012 07:21 PM

Staying on plan is definitely the key. I'm trying to input all my foods and water into one of those apps, I forget the name. lol. It is a lot of work, but in the end you get to see the net carbs, and total calories. I'm not counting calories, per se, but I know I have to be reasonable, that is how my body works.

Keep on Doing It. No matter how much we lose by Easter, we will be thinner than we started.:)

I am definitely staying on plan! I have been using the Atkins website, there I can put it everything I eat, all the exercise I do, my weight, measurements and a journal and it has helped a lot this week...especially to show me my carb limit and make sure I don't go over. Unfortunately TOM has stopped by for his monthly visit but I think that may have been why the scale didn't move last Sunday...with luck he will be completely gone by this Sundays weigh in and I will see some of the results I have been working so hard to get!

Easter is only 2 and a half weeks away...I wish you all luck and hope that no matter what happens you are all happy with your progress!

Hey guys, sorry I haven't checked in in awhile!

I felt like I was in a rut and was feeling depressed so I needed a break. I took a week off from the diet and let myself eat what I wanted in moderation. It was mostly things I enjoyed before that were low calorie like soup and maybe some toast.

It did remind me why I do low carb, my stomach was upset all week from the gluten and I feel insanely bloated (though TOM is expected in the next few days). After my week on a break I went up to 185.6 yesterday and am at 183.4 today after being on plan for 1 day. I feel way better and refreshed.

Considering I'm 1.2 lbs heavier than my lowest weight last week AND I'm PMSing it looks like I didn't do too much damage. My goal by Easter is to be in the 170's.

Serenity100 03-28-2012 04:17 PM

 Hi Stephanie, glad to see you are back. I hope you are feeling better. It's great that you are back on track.

Hi Steph reading your post makes me feel a bit better. I ate some pringles and a slice of pizza and my head and stomach hurts.. I'm on TOM mysulf but tomorrow I'm back to full induction...At least I know that by going back into a full induction again maybe I'll have a swoosh.. TOM is here too so I'll weight next Thursday..which wouls be 7 days on induction.. I was at 141 before TOM and the pizza so next week if I see 141 I won't be too upset but I'm hoping to see 139 just to be in the 130s..

StephanieM 03-29-2012 01:19 PM

TOM is due anytime now, but I'm down almost a half lb today, 183.0.

I feel like giving myself the break recharged my batteries to keep doing this for the long haul and will give me a bit of a whoosh, even if it's just back to where I was before it's nice to see the scale drop down.

I love that I don't get the Atkins flu, even though I indulged in pumpkin cheesecake my last day of cheating I still feel great while withdrawing from sugar :)

globetrotter74 03-31-2012 03:00 AM

Next week is our official easter challenge loss.. I'm not sure what the scale will say but I'll be happy with any loss..

Have anybody thought of another challenge let's say Memorial Day?? or a monthly challenge or goal?

have a good weekend everyone

I'm with you globetrotter...I will be happy just to see a lower number on the scale!

Another challenge would be great, I think they really help to keep me motivated!

Weigh in day tomorrow...:fr:

I'm definitely in for the Memorial Day challenge, and then July 4th after that:D I think we should all measure ourselves on Easter Sunday, and then refer back to that to see if we lose inches too. This way, if the scale doesn't budge we will see have tangible proof that it is working.

Have a great Saturday.

rho1640 03-31-2012 01:45 PM

Sounds. Good to me - I'm in on any new challenge :D

Good point mentioning the inches... I'll definitely will take my measurements as well..

Serenity100 04-01-2012 07:45 AM

Another 2 lbs gone, whoosh:carrot: I made my Easter Challenge goal, and now I am starting my Memorial Day Challenge/personal challenge of getting to a loss of 10%. I need 8 lbs for the 10%.

I am adding the blueberries this week. I have to read up a little more as to start OWL. I don't want to screw up and then get myself all disgusted.

I tried the cauliflower crust pizza. . .not bad for the first attempt. I have to play around with how to make the crust more crispy.

My goals for this week, is to stay OP, exercise 5/7, and try another new recipe.

Keep on doing it!

minoja75 04-01-2012 07:58 AM

globetrotter74 04-01-2012 08:17 AM

Globe, you are motivation for me too! Don't forget you have much less to lose than me. So going by percentage wise, if you lose 1 pound, that is great for your size. You are doing great!:)

Aww thanks Serenity.. I never really see myself as motivating others,, but I definitely look at you guys see how you are losing and it makes me that much more determined..

I am closing in on my goal and I'm going to get there.. My goal is to be there by Memorial Day weekend which gives me 2 months to lose 19 pounds and I can do it.

I need to take my measurements as well on Wednesday morning when I weigh in..

globetrotter74 04-04-2012 03:45 AM

Hello everyone.. well I weighed in this morning and I'm 2 pounds heavier :( but I've lost quite a few inches :D I'm not sure if I'm convinced of the weight gain as I just came off TOM and I remember from last month it took my body 5 days after to adjust to the weight loss and I actually had lost around 3 pounds.. So I'm going to keep on going and weigh again next week and hopefully the scale will have moved down. But definitely happy with the inches. I tried on some skinny jeans and I can get them up and fasten them..

My next goal is by the end of the month to lose between 8 - 10 pounds and by Memorial Day to be at my goal weight.. I can do this and I see the finish line right in front of me..

Have a good day..

airomatic 04-04-2012 03:47 AM

Hey guys, I haven't really been checking in here, I have checked in a few times in the last couple of weeks on the other Easter challenge board under other reduced carb diets so I haven't been completely off the radar. I was offp for a couple of weeks but am working my way back on. I'm currently at 216.4 so only 4 pounds away from my goal and while I highly doubt I will lose 4 pounds in 4 days I still have lost 11 pounds overall which is awesome.
Congrats Minoja and Serenity for your losses :)
Part of my efforts to go back OP is I started taking a metabolism pill, I've been taking it for about a week and I feel more energized but it could also be going back on Atkins, and I have lost 3 pounds. I will keep you guys updated on how the pills go. They are called Life Extension 7-Keto DHEA Metabolite if anybody else is interested. One thing I've noticed is they seem to make me hungrier but I don't have any crazy high energy side effects like other diet/metabolism pills I've taken in the past (like heart racing, dry mouth things like that).

minoja75 04-04-2012 08:50 AM

Hang in there globetrotter, I just came off TOM as well and the scale is not so nice to me either. I'm sure you will meet your end of the month goal!

Thank you airomatic and congrats for getting back OP...that is the key.

I'm hanging in here and thanks minoja.. I remember last month it was after 5 days when TOM left that the scale finally moved.. I'm still going to keep on doing what I'm doing.. but this may sound strange but I feel lighter..so losing the inches definitely was a morale booster..

I hate TOM LOL :D

Serenity100 04-04-2012 04:28 PM

Don't get discouraged Globe. You got your skinny jeans up and fastened:carrot:, what else matters.:D I'm sure you will see a woosh real soon. Keep on drinking the water.

Thanks Serenity and I will keep on drinking water.. I keep telling myself that remember last month your weight did the exact same thing around TOM and after TOM.. but it did feel good to get those skinny jeans on :)

globetrotter74 04-05-2012 03:36 AM

weighed myself again this morning and still the same 2 pound gain. I weighed yesterday afternoon and evening and still the same after drinking tons of water.. it just tells me that my body hasn't adjusted yet to after TOM.. I'm going to keep on going I don't have far to reach my goal and my April goal by the end of the month is 8 - 10 pounds.. I can do this..

You CAN do it globetrotter! I hate TOM...it doesn't just interrupt a few days or a week from your life it's more like having one week of stability and 3-4 weeks of getting over, getting ready or getting back to normal after TOM. I know your next weigh in will be better!

minoja75 04-05-2012 09:24 AM

So pretty sure I won't make it to Easter goal...that is 11 pounds away but only 3 days to do it. I'm okay with that though since I am actually losing weight.

What is our next goal? Memorial day? If so I am going to take my results for Easter goal and try to calculate a more reasonable one for that.

globetrotter74 04-05-2012 10:12 AM

Minoja just weighed myself and I;m down 1.2 pounds after eating and drinking a lot of water  it is TOM for sure and my body adjusting back.. will weigh again in the morning just to see if it goes down again..

I'm no where near my Easter goal but my I hope to reach my goal weight by memorial day.. so these next 8 weeks I will be working to hopefully lose 20 pounds or very close to it..

I know we all have to hang in there.. this is why I like this forum it definitely keeos me focused and motivated..

Buckaustink 04-05-2012 12:11 PM

Well I am not at my goal weight and I am way off from my Vegas goal weight but know I only have myself to blame. I am hoping for 3 more lbs before I leave on the 16th..then with tons of walking in vegas I am hoping to come hmoe with a loss..then its back at it until my real goal weight. Thanks for all the support...

Serenity100 04-05-2012 07:09 PM

Yes, we are continuing through to Memorial Day and beyond. . .:carrot: According to the what I have read, after the first couple of weeks, a weekly weight loss of 1-2 pounds for women is average and considered successful.
