Thanks for the welcome all.

Memoree, congratulations! five pounds sounds great to me.:)

Around these parts it's Girl Scout cookie time. Those things are like crack to me, I bought some and then just gave them away.

Going to go chop some veggies for my salad now. I chop a bunch and then put them in a ziplock bag, this way there is no excuse not to have a salad ready to bring to work.

Keep on doing it!

airomatic 02-29-2012 11:13 PM

It's Girl Scout cookie time here and I have a hard time resisting them too, I just try to avoid the stores on the weekends :)

StephanieM 03-01-2012 11:39 AM

186.0 again, have my pap today and still no TOM. I joked to my husband that I was pregnant again, he didn't find it funny haha.

Hope everyone is doing well!

Hello everyone. I figured this was the best place to post this question. I have been on Atkins for ~30 days. I've dropped 14 pounds but I seem to be holding steady there. Is this common? What should I do to get things going again?

LOL don't give your husband a heart attack like that LOL... It's definitely water as I'm back to my original weight before TOM and yesterday it was up. I'm not going to get on the scale until TOM is gone. Then I can determine how much have I lost.

Have you added any new items to your diet? also are you on induction or OWL?

I didn't make it up, I actually stole it from Pinterest. Someone actually took a picture of the ingredients panel of the Mint Cookies and then photoshopped in crack, in the list of ingredients. lol But I'm glad you like it.

Today I had a nice surprise when I got home. My free introductory kit from Atkins was waiting for me at my front door. So proud of myself that I am more thrilled about the pocket carb counter then the three free bars. I am saving those bars for a severe emergency. I want to give up sweets and snacking for good, don't need to fall back on any nasty habits, especially since it hasn't been a week yet. ;)

Keeping on doing it!

Helpppp

i weigh 220 and need help to lose weight eat better and get off my butt!!
i am 30 years old single and am not feeling to good about myself
i have a few weddings this summer and would love to look good and feel good too!
please help!

Brooklynn 03-01-2012 07:45 PM

so ladies idk if you remember me saying that I was having an issue with my digi scale weighing heavier than my analog scale.... but I went to the doc today and it confirmed that my digi is the one that is correct as sad as that is, but that means that I actually have lost more weight than I though in this first week and a half however heavier than I thought I currently was( I know confusing). I have been monitoring my weight on both scales I went from 208 to 198 on the digi but 195 to 190 on the analog, I am just sticking with the digi here on out the analog was a cheapy from walmart so really no surprise it doesn't work right. so I changed my tickers if you happen to wonder why they are different now.

well first you have to make a choice in how you want to go about doing that but this is a super place for support! I am thrilled for you that you are ready to make a change, but dont jump into anything until your sure what you want to do that will save from the issues of wondering if your doing some thing wrong etc... Good luck to you!!!

186.0 today, a new low which is nice :) I am bloated though! I looked in the mirror this morning and realised I was sucking in my stomach. I let it out and wow, haha. I just hope my period holds off until after my pap on Thursday because it was a b*tch to schedule as it is a dual appointment for me and my daughter.

AF came to visit me last night and dear lord am I bloated! No wonder the scale was not my friend today lol its funny because I always seem to start right before my pap is due I was supposed to have one tomorrow thinking I was safe because its not been 28 days yet and go figure I started early UGH!

airomatic 03-01-2012 09:52 PM

Brooklynn I totally had the same problem! I couldn't find my digital scale (surprise it was at the bottom of a box I hadn't unpacked) and had been using an analog one. When I found my digital it said I weighed 3 pounds more than the analog but still lost the same amount of weight. I figured i'd stick with the digital from here on out so I adjusted my numbers.
Stlucia: if you are unsure if you can handle Atkins I would suggest reading about induction on the Atkins site first and making sure it looks like it's something you can handle. Then cleaning out your kitchen and getting rid of all prohibited food to avoid temptation. It can be a hard transition but I know after a couple of weeks on Atkins I feel amazing! Like Brooklynn said, if you're looking for support you've come to the right place :)

You guys are welcome to come join us over there if you would like :)

Or if you want to have a seperate thread just for Atkins people that's up to you too.

My goal is 20 lbs by Easter... not sure if I'll hit it since I'm past the 'whoosh' stage where you lose a lot quickly.

What is a "whoosh" stage. This week I have lost and gained the same lb and I am very disappointed. I am not giving up but I sooo want to make 20lb by my Vegas trip.

StephanieM 03-02-2012 12:41 PM

187.0 today. Doctors appointment went well, got a perscription for seroquel and yaz. I've been on yaz for a month already trying it out and the pharmacist mentioned it would make me retain a lot of water for the first month or so. That explains why my weight has been bouncing around, also the impending TOM (I hope!)

Husband went out of town this morning to go on a little vacation with a friend, MIL is taking my daughter tonight and I'm going to go drinking at a gay bar with the SIL I get along with :)

StephanieM 03-02-2012 12:42 PM

Buckaustink, a lot of people get it in the beginning of the diet where a lot of weight drops off quickly before weight loss starts evening out. Doesn't happen to everyone though.

Have you seen the warnings for YAZ? I thought they took it off the market. Not trying to scare ya just wanting to make sure you knew there was issues with it, I mean I guess there is for all BC but this one I always see crazy commercials about it (lawsuits and such) I havent done any research on it because I have my tubes tied but just thought I would mention it.

I'm a potato chip person.. I've been strong as I know I have a goal I want to reach. I've told myself it's not like I can never eat potato chips again, but first I need to reach my goal and get my body stable at my goal weight then allow myself 1 day to have a cheat day :)

globetrotter74 03-03-2012 11:54 AM

Hi Buck, are you near TOM? I know put on .8 pounds and today when I got on scale I've lost .2 pounds. TOM is here so I know that is the changes in my weigh. I weighed myself during TOM to have an idea of how my weight will change now that I'm on Atkins. I've stayed on the diet thus far and no cheating so I'm going to wait and get on the scale on Monday and see what it says. I know with my body it often will like lose weigh overnight with the scale. I do feel lighter if that makes sense and I feel as if I've lost weight. I know atkins work and I have faith in it so I'm not going to get frustrated especially with TOM hanging around.

I'm hoping to make the 20 lbs goal by Easter and I'm definitely going to work my butt off to make it. I'm going to start walking 3 days a week..

StephanieM 03-03-2012 12:44 PM

Brooklyn, I asked my doctor about that because I heard all this bad stuff too. She said the things they are trying to sue over are normal possible side effects of birth control like blood clots. She said that whenever there is a new birth control out this happens (Yaz being the newest one right now). I'm not too concerned.

186.0 today. Got my TOM finally last night! Right as I'm about to go out to the bar. Everyone is right about how the first one after a baby is intense. I feel so huge right now but relieved I'm getting it over with.

The gay bar had like no gay people, I got tired and wanted to go home at 1 am and my SIL still wanted to party. I cabbed to her house to get my stuff before going home and on the way out her door I slipped on her steps. I crashed down on them hard, the step hitting me in the back. The cab driver helped me up, but man am I sore today! And a little hung over... It's hard to eat because nothing sounds good. Almost caved and had some toast. Can't wait until my MIL brings my daughter back so her and I can take a nap together, haha.

Serenity100 03-03-2012 02:32 PM

Happy Saturday!

I hope that the Wendy's Chicken bacon cobb salad is acceptable in Phase 1, cause I just had a small one (which is big enough) and it was delicious.:)

Tomorrow is my Week 1 weigh in, I think I am going to be happy. :)

Keep on doing it!

cupcakegirl32 03-03-2012 07:55 PM

Didn't loose any lbs this week, but I did loose 4.75 inches over all... YAY

I found a recipe for CHEETOS, yes CHEETOS. I haven't tried it out just yet, but remembered someone saying they missed their cheetos! She's on Pinterest as Jamie VonBacon, she has a blog called blog.yourlighterside.com and she's on facebook. On her blog she has over 300 low carb recipes, bread sticks and pizza dough made from minced chicken breast! I'm stoked!!! Thought i'd share :)

globetrotter74 03-04-2012 04:44 AM

Stephane is sounds like you enjoyed yourself :) I hope you aren't too sore but the important thing is at least you had a night out. I can imagine being a mom sometimes you need a break.

So you went down a pound when TOM came.. I'm trying not to get frustrated as I weighed myself and I'm up 1.2 pounds overnight :?: the day before 1.2 pounds less :?:  I don't remember how it was when I did atkins years ago and when TOM came. It can be a bit discouraging when you are eating exactly on plan and doing everything right and you go up in weight

Then I know I shouldn't weigh myself everyday :o , I really need to go to scales addiction group, but I want to keep an eye on my weight so I can know how my weight changes during TOM. I'm hoping to be at least 145 or lower by the end of the week. TOM is still here but very light so I feel tomorrow it should be completely gone. I know my body is funny at times as once before when I was calorie counting I got on the scale one day and 5 days later I was almost 5 pounds lighter and this was the same scale and it's a digital one and I weigh at the same time every day and it was around TOM.

I'm trying to stay positive and this afternoon I will do 45 mins of aerobics and I will cut out the cheese or leave it to 2 slices of the kraft cheese a day and stick only to the meats, eggs, and green veggies..I'm going to be even stricter from now on out. I want to make my 20 pound goal for Easter and if I can reach 130 by Easter I'll be :carrot: my goal is 125..

Congrats to those out there who have lost weight this week.. you guys keep me going.. as when I see that you all are doing it I tell myself so can I..

Serenity100 03-04-2012 08:06 AM

First week of induction done. 6lbs gone.:carrot:
Not bad since I'm 53 years old.;)

I ran out of vegetables and salads before yesterday and didn't have time to go grocery shopping, that's why I had to eat the Wendy's salad. This week I won't be caught empty.

Cupcakegirl, congrats on the inches lost. Let us know how those recipes turn out.

Globetrotter, I admire your willpower. I think adding exercising is something I need to commit to also if I want to continue losing at a good pace.

Enjoy your Sunday. Keep on doing it.

globetrotter74 03-04-2012 08:41 AM

WOW congrats Serenity and I hope you are dancing like that carrot LOL :carrot:

I will keep on going.. I'm not going to let the scale get the best of me. I'm going to get to my goal weight! I think exercising will help for sure and I also do believe TOM is playing a factor in this too, but I'm not going to stop..

You too keep up the good work!!!

by the way does anyone know how you put the scale at the bottom of your posts? It could be somewhere in a thread but I'm being honest, I'm too lazy to search :^:

airomatic 03-04-2012 09:28 AM

Congrats Cupcake girl!
Serenity I don't know if it's ok on induction but I've gotten it a couple of times, usually when I don't have a chance to eat before work so I run by Wendy's and order it though I'm doing much better at bringing lots of food to work :)
Globetrotter I'm also a scale addict, I did a good job the first couple of weeks on Atkins but now I usually catch myself weighing myself daily (except the days I don't sleep much because of work). Weighing myself daily helps me figure out what works foodwise and doesn't work. If I gain or the scale doesn't budge for a couple of days I look over what I eat and try to figure out what's causing it so to me it's helpful.

globetrotter74 03-04-2012 10:38 AM

airomatic you are right.. I'm writing down everything I put in my mouth to see if it's maybe the kraft cheese slices or TOM. Put I'm sure I'll have a whoosh sometime this week.

StephanieM 03-04-2012 12:58 PM

globetrotter, click on 'user cp' at the top right hand side of the screen, that will take you to where you can edit and change stuff about your profile and signature. You want to edit your signature to put a ticker code in there.

To get a ticker, you can either make one at tickerfactory.com or you can make a 3fc ticker. The link is in the forum help section under the thread titled 'one stop ticker and signature thread' or something like that.

184.8 today :) Finally dropping again! And holy crap. This is the heaviest freaking TOM I have ever had. I feel exhausted too. I don't remember it being like this, but it has been a year haha. I used to have really light flows but this one is insane. Let's just say I had to wash all our sheets and blankets yesterday :S It was THAT bad. (Hope I'm not being too gross, but holy sh*t!) That has NEVER happened before.

Today also marks 1 month that I have been on Atkins, 12 lbs lost. I bet it would have been a lot more if it weren't for the fact that I enjoy rye and diet coke, my in laws changing dinner at the last minute, the wine I had one night, or this crazy first period.

Best of luck to everyone!

cupcakegirl32 03-05-2012 12:51 AM

Hope everyone has a WONDERFUL week!!

airomatic 03-05-2012 01:53 AM

Stephanie: I don't remember how my TOM was right after I had my son but I got an IUD probably about 8 weeks after I had him so I didn't have a period until I got it removed a year and a half later and I had the worst PMS including being tired all the time and it being super heavy, I found iron really helped with the exhaustion. It has balanced out a bit in the last year but it was best when I was on birth control (I've been too lazy to go back in and get it refilled) definitely helped balance out all the crazy hormones so I would guess within a month or two you probably will barely notice.

globetrotter74 03-05-2012 03:42 AM

Hey Stephanie glad to see that the lbs are moving down again.. Sorry about TOM and the problems it is giving you. I was on depo almost 2 years ago and stopped 1 year ago and after 1 year did my cycle finally go back to normal. I decided to give my body a break from birth control and lose the weight that I need then maybe I'll look into some birth control..

I got on the scale and it went down just a bit so I'm happy..

Serenity100 03-05-2012 04:12 PM

Happy Monday!
Yesterday I made a Perdue Oven stuffer roaster. I bought then when they were on sale, and once you make one, you can get plenty of meals out of it for you and your family. I didn't stuff it, of course, but I made stove top stuffing for my son to eat with it. I eat the chicken with all the salad and vegetables as a jumbo salad. It's great being able to eat a piece of skin with no guilt.:D

Keep on doing it.

Brooklynn 03-05-2012 04:14 PM

so my weigh in for the week was PATHETIC to say the least I am really hoping its just AF still hanging around so I will weigh my self again when she leaves and go from there. Its not like I am expecting miracles here but come on! Anyway needed to add that little rant sorry. Hope you all are well!

StephanieM 03-05-2012 07:28 PM

Guess what the scale said today? 186.0

I know what the culprit is though. It's my own fault. What was supposed to be a short visit turned into dinner at the in laws again. I ate chili but didn't have any garlic bread. The chili was light on beans but had brown sugar and who knows what else in it. I need to just refuse to eat when I'm there.

Also, I didn't realise that the seroquel I'm taking can cause weight gain. I've been doing a lot of reading and it seems that low carbing is about the only way to lose weight on it so looks like I'm on the right track. May just be losing slower in the future.

And TOM is on day 4. Pre-baby it was 3 days and light.

Hope everyone is doing well!
