down another pound today, am 169 with no fractions added on. Very happy to be on induction and losing again after a long stall. Today, will be drinking a smoothie for breakfast. yum.
Packed a good lunch/ supper yesterday and ate well through a long day of work, until 10 pm before getting home. (left at 530 am)
Its gonna be hard if I keep having such long days, but will work to stay to plan. At least sleep the night though quite well.
WHo else is doing induction these days?

Isn't it AMAZING how much less 69 is that 71?

I just crosses from the 260.s in to the 250's and it finally seems like my goal weight is truly attainable.

Way to lose, fatmad and nancymae! What do you think helps you the most? Any special tips? I'm stuck gaining and losing the same four or five pounds and having a hard time staying on plan 100%.

Sandyfanny: you won't like it. I have gone back to induction, and am being pretty careful. And that mean making and packing food. I also have a bin in the fridge with quick stuff. Pre-packaged old cheese, a few hard-cooked eggs, a cold atkins shake or two. I get called out on short notice and need to take food. But before work, it takes me a while to make the lunch and pack the snacks on todays menu. Its a pain. It takes me an extra 45 minutes in the morning. Its a total pain. I am hoping that it all becomes more routine.
My husband is doing better with helping to plan and prepare appropriate meals.
Every one always says plan plan plan. It helps to have written plans. I mix and match to my own tastes (exchange one breakfast with a another, etc)
but it is much easier to stick to a written plan. I imagine sticking to this for a while, longer than the initial two weeks.
I had a little blip yesterday, I cheated. I was working at a homebirth, and the family put a bowl of fresh ripe plums on the table. One of my fav fruits. and they were perfectly ripe. I ate three (they were the small prune plums)
WHO knew that I would talk about a reasonable serving of fresh fruit as cheating. I didn't eat the cookies and I did eat the appropriate food I brought. I think I ate a bit much over the course of the day, but that is the problem with long hours. ( I started at 5 am and got home after midnight).
The long hours are a problem, I eat to stay awake sometimes.
And I know my sleep remedy was a problem, I used to consume a high carb meal because I would sleep better and longer with that. I have stopped that one.
So Sandyfanny, I know you are being challenged back to school with following Atkins, I hope you went and got your fridge for the classroom this weekend. If you keep the raw materials handy and eat from there, it will help ALOT. I know you said the food prep and time was a worry and I understand that perfectly.

Default Thank you, Fat Mad

I appreciate your taking time to post such a helpful response. The planning part is hard; I'm accustomed to eating whatever, whenever and the results were a DEE-SASTER! I am doing much better with it, but I don't want to do the prep for vegetables...ever. This is new with the beginning of school. School gets better after the first three weeks; everyone settles in. I have to get my head around prepping veggies, though. It just seems like "one more thing" I don't want to do.

I didn't get my fridge yet; I get paid on Tuesday, so that's my payday present to myself. By Wednesday, it'll be stocked with some of your suggestions. I'm grocery shopping with plans to cook once, eat three times. Since it's just me, a roast, a chicken, or pork tenderloin goes a long way.

For right now, I'm trying to take one day at a time and doing the best I can today. I just got back from taking Puddin' the Giant German Shepherd for a walk to the waterfront, added five blocks to our usual walk, and ate a good Atkins breakfast. That's the best I can do right this moment.

Again, thanks for posting. You're doing a great job - keep working the plan...

I had our last baby when I was 45 and not wanting to die before he grows up is one of my biggest motivator...

and as I am actually pretty shallow and vain, I also want a tummy tuck. Sadly, once I get nakey things are not very pretty below the boobs!

That up and down 4-5 pound thing has happened to me too... I started to weigh weekly instead of daily. I gave my scale to goodwill, which helped me immensely.

So what I think keeps me "on plan" is only weighing once a week and reminding myself (several times a day) that I didn't gain this weight is 6 months so it's unrealistic to expect to loose it in 6 mos.

I think that my diet blog is helping too, even though I haven't written much in it yet, every night before I go to sleep I think about things I WANT to write and that is pretty motivating.

And when that week where I don't loose any weight comes I will KNOW that as long as I am "on Plan" I am loosing fat every single day!

sandy fanny: you are right on, cook for 3 meals, eat for one. its a key.
Nancy mae, save your pennies, and go for the tummy tuck if its important to you.
I just spent a ridiculous amount on new clothes for the fall, they fit great and look great, make me feel really good, and are a great positive reinforcement for me to stay on plan. Better than rewarding myself with food type treats, as I see some of my "dieting" friends do. They reward their weight loss by eating off plan. argh. can't do it for them , can we?

My husband does that and it drive me nuts!

My challenge is that I was 100% ON PLAN all week my weight did not budge at all!!!! It's so hard to stay in control when this crap happens!

UPDATE: My Dr's office was closed yesterday (my normal weigh in day) for a staff retreat and I weighted on a the scale at the gym...I actually did lose weight this week, 3.5 pounds (!!!), which explains why my PJ bottoms fell down when I was carrying the laundry up from the basement last night! Yep, I need new PJ's!

Default Great work!

You guys are doing so well! I do love a three-pound loss; I haven't had many of them, but I'm working on it. My reward this week was buying a little refrigerator for my classroom, so I have what I need cold, fresh and handy!

I'm excited about stocking it when I return to school on Tuesday...water, ham, chicken salad, cheese sticks, mixed green salads and dressing.

I'm also going to cook a roast, steam a head of cauliflower, and buy a deli chicken on Monday, so I'll have the basics for dinners next week.

Congrats Fatmad - you and I are close to the same place. My goals is to soon break the 170 mark too! I can't wait!

However - I went off plan this morning for the first time in a loooong time. I had a date - it was a first date - and I ordered a ham & cheese omelet with no toast but did have hash browns. I didn't want to seem high maintenance on the first date! The waitress gave me such a hard time about the stupid toast!!! So - back on plan two hours later though! Heading for a walk outside - the weather here is to die for - 73 and sunny!!

Default Congratulations!

I'm so glad for you; making those benchmark weights is great! I wish you continued good eating and good losin'!

A note about "high maintenance" - so what if you're a little high maintenance? You deserve what you need and want every single day!
