Ahhhh... we lost our June thread. I knew I was missing something!
We'll just pick ourselves back up, strap on our shoes and hit the road or the treadmill or the track...
Today I did 5.25 miles on the treadmill, the heat drove me inside and I missed the early morning slightly-cool window. But since I'm house/doggie sitting for my parents I have easy access to their treadmill and pool. I watched some of the movie Aliens, got all sweated up and then jumped into the pool! Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh such relief!
I did a 5k this morning, and my right hip is feeling a bit tight. But I have arthritis and a bone spur that sporadically act up in that area so it comes and goes. Stupid bone spur!
Healed feet, and I'm BACK! Starting over with week 1. Taking it a little slower, this time. My knees are still a bit sore, but instead of running on 7.0 I'm keeping it at a cool 5.5. Seems to be going a lot better on my joints.
I'm a little worried though - I'm moving to SLC in four days - and I won't have access to my treadmill anymore. Fingers crossed for an easy transition!
instead of running on 7.0 I'm keeping it at a cool 5.5.
Holy cripes you're fast!
5.5 mph is how much I sprint at on the treadmill for a minute at the end of my session!! I normally chug along at an easy 4.0 mph for 2 miles before that.
But I am improving bit by bit.... I started out only doing 3.5 mph, and my "sprint" was 4.5 mph. I was doing less than 2 miles back then, too. SO I am slowly building up my time and speed.
I actually made it up to 6.0 mph for my final minute sprint last week, although that was completely by accident! I remember puffing along and thinking 'Wow! It's a little harder today!" When I finally looked down and saw 6.0 on the screen I almost fell off!

I went running for my usual 1.5 miles, unfortunately my stepbrother came along who runs track and kept insisting I do high knees and butt kicks after running straight for 15 minutes (which is still a lot for me). I definitely jumped in the pool after that run.
it was kind of nice though because I feel really pumped for my run today and am sort of looking forward to high knees and sprinting, I'm even considering going twice today
Didn't see a June C25K thread, so I'll post in here.
I officially finished W7D3 yesterday. On to W8D1 today. I am such a snail. I start off slow out of fear that if I go too fast, I'll tire out too soon. So, I'm averaging 1 1/2 in 25 minutes. So, yesterday, I ran for 32 minutes to complete my two miles worth of running time. Good part, at least I know I can run for 30 minutes. LOL. So, I think I'm going to focus on at least finishing the 2 miles. I have a 5K next month and I need to actually FINISH 3 miles.
Sounds good to me, Foodie!
I have been thinking about how to increase my pace... only thing is... I feel like I'm going as fast as I want to go.---not that fast. But I feel kind of geriatric out there. You know, those amazing 70+ year old runners who is barely raising her legs...?

I am defintely what is referred to as a "penguin." I waddle along knowing there are gazelles and cheetahs sprinting effortlessly all over the place, but that will never be me.
As long as I am getting in a good cardio work-out, I am satisfied. Also, I am slowly improving. I'm getting faster, bit by bit, and can go a little longer as the weeks go by. I'll never be a cheetah or a gazelle, but that's okay with me.
Anyway, I now find myself running at the top of my treadmill this week. Meaning that 4.0 mph on the treadmill is becoming a little slow for me. I think I will try nudging it up to 4.2 next week and see how it goes.
I did 2 miles this morning, and a lot of that was spent with me bumping up against the top of the treadmill. I did punch it up to 4.2 for a little bit, but took it back down to 4.0 because my legs felt a little like lead today. (It's been a sort of rough week for me for some reason).

I just realized I hadn't yet posted on the new June thread!
Training for my 1/2 is coming along really well. I'm finishing up week 7 of my clinic and there are only 9 weeks to go until race day! I did hill training for the first time this week and although I didn't feel like I'd pushed myself too hard that night, the next day the pain in my left calf that's been nagging me a bit lately was quite bad. I took a rest day and then kept Friday to a short 3K and by the time my long run came up today I was fine thank goodness. I did 12K in 1:32 and I'm feeling pretty good though quite pooped!
I did some yoga and some ab work for cross-training this week and I think it's something I'm going to add in on a regular basis. The yoga will make for some nice upper body toning and I'm really feeling the need to add something else in to my regular running schedule. And the ab work...well, I'd like to see something other than the jiggly Mommy Tummy.
There's Kim, I wondered when you would find us! AWESOME run girlie, whoo hooooooo! The yoga will give you good core strength, great cross training for running.
