Oh no! I had no clue it had been cancelled. I don't get cable anymore since I left my ex. I was in blockbuster & saw four different cases so they must have divided the seasons up or something. I could have sworn one said season 3 but I guess not. I just did a google search for the show & found a couple of "bring back dead like me" petitions & signed a few. One had over 44,000 posters. I found an interesting article3 saying that showtime had a fairly significant loss of customer base over the show. Quite a few thousand people sent them letters saying they were canx'ing there subscription over the show. Pretty cool I thought, especially since when I had cable, that show was the only reason that I ever watched that channel. I also saw another article saying that Mike Fuller would be totally up for making another tv movie based on dead like me...so long as mgm was not involved. He say they were a total PITA to deal with & that they argued incessantly with him about tons of stuff. Apparently...in his original version when George sees her dad hug the guy for like ages at her funeral (sorry to those of you who have not seen the show) she realizes that her dad is actually gay, and comes to realize that she was not really meant to even be alive. (thats how fuller worded it) I guess he meant that she realizes how close the line was for her being born or not. Anyways. That certainly would have explained why interactions between George's mom & dad were the way they were better than what they left us with. Also....mgm told Fuller that he could not possibly say wether a woman was beautiful or not because he is gay so his paradym is not correct/the way "normal" people's is. Very interesting article but I'll shut up about it now.

We just finished up season 2 ourselves. We looked it up, and it looks like there will be no 3rd season. Besides, Mandy Patinkin is in a new show already. *sigh* I'm very sad about it. It's one of the best shows out there.
I still thought it ended well. If you enjoy that type of show I recommend 6 feet under, our other favorite.
I get to go see charlie & the chocolate factory tonight. can't wait. also can't wait for howl's moving castle.

Charlie & the chocolate factory was great. I really enjoyed it more than I expected, very funny and you can't go wrong with Johnny Depp. It's definately not the original - which my hubby decided he likes better - but it's still great.

Thumbs up Hide & Seek

We watched Hide & Seek last night (note to group - I only watch videos since theater 35 miles away - exceptions made for big budget scifi )

Anyway - this was the one with Robert Deniro and Dakota Fanning. I wont spoil it for anyone - it was good, suspenseful, creepy, etc - although I did guess the outcome before the ending and that is always a let down for me - I like to be surprised.

But is was worth the time it takes to watch it.

Dawn - My hubby watched Constantine after I did and when it was over he was all indignent about it being a "no smoking" commercial. After watching it twice - it kinda was. Oh well he is too serious.

A no smoking commercial...lol...that is funny! Nate smokes & did not comment once on that.
I am still only halfway through re-watching the first season of Dead Like Me. About 99% of the time the dvd's are already checked out when I got to Blockbuster to rent them. Oh well, at least it stretches out seeing them. Also, it looks like they don't carry 2nd season so I may have to buy it.
I watched (some of) Vin Diesels movie, the Pacifier last night. It seemed like one of the worst movies I've ever watched but maybe I was just too tired for it to be funny. Nate thought it sucked too. I don't think either of us laughed once. Tonight we are probably going to watch Eulogy. I hope its better!
BTW, I dont think we cover music in this thread but has anyone ever heard the sound track to Bram Stoker's Dracula? The one that was released a few years ago? I just downloaded it on i-tunes. I LOVE it! Very dark & dramatic.

I dunno if anyone has itunes but if so, it seems a lot cheaper. this is the first time I have used it but I only paid 5.99 for the entire album. Yesterday at Borders they said it would be 11.99 if I ordered it. Tidy savings there!

Thanks for the info on the mail order probram PJ. I probably won't do it though, I have enough problems with getting my library books back on time! lol.

Watched Hitch last weekend. I really liked it right up to the end, when it became unrealistic and all wrapped up in a little pink bow. GAG! I know it's a date movie, but give me a break. *LOL* I did enjoy Kevin James though, and whoever that girl is I haven't seen her in anything else before, but she's very beautiful.

I've mostly been watching TV lately, found a couple of great shows in weird places. I'm totally addicted to two shows on the Travel Channel - Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations and Stranded with Cash Peters and also a show on A & E called Flip this House. All three are just great, but I'm most in love with Anthony Bourdain. I always watch his show Cook's Tour on Food network, but this one is even better.

Talking

We have been watching about 3 per week with the BB.com membership - mostly been catching up on older new releases we had missed. We watched Hitch the other night too and I am with Ferret it was a riot but the end was a bit too much - but it cracked me up enough to be forgiving.

Saw Harry Potter 3 - of course now that I realize that these actors are too old for them to make the rest of the movies (are they?) I have decided to jump on the band wagon and read the books. Just finished the first - and was glad to see the movie didnt deviate much at all. hope the next 2 are the same. By the time Christmas gets here - I should be caught up with everyone else.

I am still looking forward to Narnia (The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe) coming out this Spring - I have to find my books there were 6 or 7 and I read them all years ago - want to read again before I see the flick.

Then there was Princess Diary 2 - had to see since saw the first - not as good buy sweet and if I was 12 I would have just loved it.

Elektra - ok - always like a good *** kicking woman - waiting to see Daredevil which came first.

Oh - ugh - saw Annie Hall - i am sorry to anyone that like this movie - I rented it cause hey it one a bunch of awards and I am trying to broaden my horizons - but yak yak yak - I am getting so I cant hardly stand talking movies - dont get me started on lost in translation - yawn - did I even watch to the end? I think I did and why is beyond me.

At least Annie Hall had the fun factor of spot the cameo actor -lots of faces.

Anyway that is about it - we have Bourne Supremacy coming and Dodgball - I heard the Bourne Supremacy is good - I know the first was good and this one is supposed to have even more twists - dodgeball should be just stupid funny.

Later

We went to see Grizzly Man last week and it was really fantastic. Timothy Treadwell was a very complex man and Herzog managed to paint a sympathetic portrait without glossing over the fact that he was a flawed, fame-seeking, and mentally imbalanced person. I really recommend it!

ajandpj99, I don't like Annie Hall, either. Woody Allen's character is so infuriating. I know he's supposed to be eccentric and endearing but I just wanted to shake the **** out of him. I keep trying to like Woody Allen movies because so many people do, but so far, I haven't seen any that I particularly liked.

Mergatroid - now why does that sound familiar? Is it from a cartoon? Sci-fi movie? Please tell me before my head explodes!

Back when I was a tween I saw some sci-fi Woody Allen movie that was loosely based on a Mid Summer Nights Dream (I think) we are talking 20 years ago - what I recall was that Woody spent the better part of the movie trying to make it with some sexbot in a box - anyway - at 12 or 13 this kind of Adult humor was hysterical to me - but now that I think about it - he always plays a horny thing - doesnt he? Now I am creeped out.

I have several AFI movies on my list at BB.com they are all old and have all won awards and they are all movies that seem to be the ones everyone is supposed to see - Casablanca, Veritgo, From here to eternity, etc. I was raised on Star Wars and Star Trek and things that blow up or things that wont die - my idea of drama is the Shining - so I will have to be open minded.

I will keep you all posted as I get them. (Bet you cant wait )
