  • As an avid fan, Scotty was a favorite...how fitting that his ashes should become part of the universe...(I too learned a valuable lesson in project management.. I overestimate the time it will take and ...come in on or under time ! Here's to Scotty!
  • My husband and I had green cocktails the other night in honor of Scotty

We saw Howl's Moving Castle last night.... Wow. I'm so glad Miyazaki put off retirement to make it. Stunning & Amazing. I adore all of his movies, but this one was just perfect from start to finish.
  • We rented a movie last night called Dirty Filthy Love. It was a bit strange but really good. It starts off slow & dull but then starts getting hysterical about mid way through. Not slapstick wall to wall comedy but some really good laughs. It's about people with OCD's & Tourettes. One of the most unusual topics I've watched in a while. It had a lot of really sad bits...I found myself very, very grateful when I was watching it that I don't have any of those particular issues. I think its a good movie for anyone to watch just to gain a little empathy & knowledge about those two illnesses. Real eye opener.
  • Lemony Snickets
The thing that bugs me is that we rented this movie ages ago, watched and the tape died at what I though was way before the end - so I rented again only to find out that it was the end save for a few seconds - ugh.

Anyway - it was ok, weird, twisted - but it didn't go into enough detail on some things - like how Count Olaf managed to be named as a next of kin when the parents knew he was the bad guy? And why was he doing those things in the first place? And who was lemony snicket and how did he know anything about the events? Maybe I should read the book?

One thing I did notice was a subtle under message about child abuse and the importance of adults listening when children are afraid of a particular adult. That message was even spelled out in a speach made by the bad guy toward the end.

  • Saw the Wedding Crashers last night..it was a pretty good popcorn movie..some really funny bits ... but so far Batman Begins is my number one pick for a summer movie...
  • I quite liked Lemony Snickets although I haven't read any of the books.

We went to see The Devil's Rejects last night. It was okay. It's basically a family of psycho killers on the run being chased by equally psychotic vengeful cop movie - meh - lots of blood and pointless killing. Not really my type of movie but DH wanted to see it. I prefer suspenseful horror flicks that unnerve you or scare the bejeesus (sp?) out of you over slash and kill movies.
  • I'll take anything in the horror genre...last night andy and i invited my parents over for a movie...they rented the upside of anger...very good flick
  • I actually liked The Grudge. I hadn't actually realised it wasn't the original but I suppose I should have realised that with 'Buffy' in it, it must have been a remake. I usually prefer the Japanese versions. I also saw a pirate version of Constantine but (serves me right) it kept sticking! Also saw The Triffids but this was a BBC adaptation - serialised but kind of a bit of nostalgia!
  • I watched Constantine over the weekend & really liked it! I especially liked the way that most of the scenes seemed to be shot either looking up from floor level or down from the ceilings...I think it gave everything a really eerie look. I liked the color schemes too. And of course whats-his-name was really hot too.
  • Keanu Reeves. That's the bloke.

I would have enjoyed it mopre had it not kept sticking! Everytime a scarey bit came I had to fastforward as it stuck (not because of fear!) and all I got were the characters talking about what happend! I shall have to buy a 100% proper copy I guess.

Ooh! I also watched -what was it called? Pyrokinesis? I think it was called that about a Japanese women who sets fire to people when they piss her off. Great idea!!!
  • I watch Constantine Last Night!
Dawn - you know what they say about great minds?

I was watching it when the horses got loose - by myself in the middle of a scary movie and I hear thundering hooves in the driveway - bout gave me a heart attack!

Loved the special effects - very realistic and I just love keanu anyway - oh baby!
  • I forgot I also watched The Village. It started off alright but was quite a did I thought. Would have been better if not billed as a scarey type of film but was alright.
  • Haha...PJ, that is so funny about the thunderous hooves! I bet that was a good solid minute of WTF heart thumping. lol.
Has anyone watched the Dead Like Me series? I have been renting all the old ones because my new guy has never seen them. They are so good (IMHO) that even though I've seen series one about three times I still laugh. Wonderfully ironic & surrealistic. I can't wait to get to the seasons I have not watched yet.
  • Dead Like Me is one of my all time favorite shows. There have only been two seasons, and whether or not Showtime will continue production and make a third is still up in the air. :/ pleasepleaseplease!
  • I remember the previews for Dead Like Me looked like my type of show - dark - making death funny - that sort of thing. Both season 1 and 2 are avail on DVD so I have put on BlockBuster wish list - I let you know what I thought of them after I watch.
