Red face Crafty Chicks

I just wondered what sort of art/craft/creative expressions my fellow alternachicks do. I personally am a collage maker and a jewelry maker. I am going to post some pictures when I get the wherewithall lol. So what do you do?

I bellydance so most of my projects tie into that. I have recently made my first costume for a charity performance

I also make beaded earrings and necklaces and have just started learning how to do beaded embroidery work. I am planning on learning how to crochet too.

I also love to do interior decorating and have taken some courses.

I've pared my multitude of crafts down to knitting for the present, I don't have time for anything else. A nice side effect of losing weight is that my next sweater (for myself) will take a lot less yarn yardage, heh

Oh wait, I'm also decoupaging all my kitchen cabinets one by one, so I guess that makes 2 crafts

Default she's crafty, she gets around

i started knitting just last year and am too too pleased with myself for already starting on (knitting) holiday gifts for this upcoming christmas (but i probably shouldn't be pleased just yet-- my craft closet is like the land of misfit crafts-- everythings half done, etc) anyway the coolest thing i did recently was a wedding present for a good friend of mine. i got an old six-paned window and reverse painted on it with oils. i think it turned out really well. there's a picture posted on my blog-- just scroll down a bit. i think my most recent posting gives a pretty complete run-down of my latest projects. mostly knitting or paiting on old windows or doors. just this weekend i salvaged an old shutter out of the trash and i'm planning to paint on it and attach two old-school glass door knobs and presto--- new coat rack.

tani-- decoupage is cool- i haven't done much but i usually like how it looks-- what do your cabinets look like?

I love cross stitch- and now that i got glasses I might be able to try to do it again. I also do collages, interior design and creative writing.

In theory anyway... I haven't actually worked on any projects in I can't remember how long. *L* There is always something I have to do instead of something I get to do... gotta prioritize... and start doing the thing I WANT to do instead.

Oh, I thought of another one which is kind of silly but it's been really really slow at work and I have been bringing in a coloring book and colored pencils and coloring too. It actually quite soothing and relaxing. I am enjoying it.

punkrockgrryl, I'm only on my second door I've been photcopying different celtic knotwork patterns from books I have. It's all in black and white. Every door is going to be different. I'll take some pictures once I'm a little further along

Currently I want to learn to sew clothing for myself, that is I pretty much know what to do as a concept, but I've just never sat down and worked on anything much. My first project will be a skirt made out of men's ties. After that I have a skirt pattern that I love which I'd like to master and I'd like to make duvet covers and stop using top sheets (European style), but my biggest goal is to learn to make tailored shirts that will fit my bust.

In the past I really loved to tie hemp necklaces. I used to have callouses from the string. I still have a lot of beads left from that and I work on various small projects here and there.

The big thing I'm actually working on right now is organizing and redecorating my apartment in a way that is joyful and airy. There's a lot of clutter clearing involved, but arranging my things is really fun.

Wow, you girls are so creative!

I used to make soaps and other home made body products with herbs from my own garden. Body scrubs, creams, bath salts and oils, etc.
I've done some furniture painting/stenciling.
I've done a lot of sewing in the past. And made quilts.
Candle making...

I paint. It's a kind of obsession I'm working at getting a studio downtown. I dabble in some knitting , and I like to sew. I like to paint furniture too. Lately I've been working on some collaged based paintings, and trying to find time to build some more canvas stretchers. I'd like to post pictures , but I really have no clue how to.....

I was just thinking I should post pictures of some of my jewelry pieces. I finally unlazied (yes it's a word! lol) myself enough to upload them to my free hosting site. Is there a folder in the Alternachick's section of the gallery to post pics that aren't of our own most fabu selfs? Perhaps one of our lovely mods can tell us how to go about this

I'm kind of a jack of all trades which means I'm good at lots of things, but I also am not magnificent at most of it...I work on graphics a lot...http://www.justferretpants.com...I like to paint and draw and write poetry and short stories...I've crocheted and cross-stiched...I "individualize" my clothes and when my jewelry breaks i make it into new pieces...just wherever my creativity leads me

I need to do some serious sorting through my craft room. I've got stuff in there I've been saving for 15 years. I've got to get a LIFE!

Beading, jewelry making, wood burning, floral arranging, wreath making, cross stitch, stain glass. Basically whatever floats my boat at any particular time. I am currently working on cross stitch pillow cases.
