  • thought i'd share a pic of the stars i made above our bed back a few months ago to go with our bedspread

  • Ferret, that is so pretty! Thanks for sharing!
  • Nice!
  • I bellydance too (tribal), design period clothing (Italian Renaissance, Elizabethan, 16th c Turkish/ Persian) but don't actually sew it, am active in an herbalist guild, write my own poetry and songs, and have gotten into making jewelry in the last few months (putting together beads and components and such). I've been too lax with everything of late, taking the last month off... I need to get "crafty" again...
  • So much talent packed in here at Alternachicks!
I like all forms of needlepoint.. I usually make them and give them away...I just finished restoring a old breakfast board.....Years ago I made jewlery. and I still find eenybeeny beads when I clean! I use to do stain glass work..it's a craft I'm thinking of starting up again

Mermaid in Black... My aunt is a ceramic artist.. She had a studio in Stinson Beach, Petaluma and lived on a floating house on the Marin side of the bay...Now she is the artistic director for a tile company in Healdsburg.. And she does commission work . mostly bathroom/Kitchen and Pools for all those "Mrs Gotbucks" out there...!
All the females on my mothers side are soooo gifted and talented...
  • Schatzi, could you send your aunt up here, please. I can't replace my attic toilet until I find the right sized replacement tiles for the floor. It's been months now, and I'm sick of travelling down two flights of stairs when I have to pee in the middle of the night.

Man, I love those little floating houses in Sausalito! Everytime we drive by 'em, heading up 101, I sigh... sooo cute.

  • Hey ellis - I could use some soap if you start making herbal products again
  • Mauvais, I'll be making some for Christmas gifts this year. I'll put you on my list.
  • Sausalito! That's it MermaidinBlack... had a brain freeze for a sec...Yeah, it was lovely! You only Knew you weren't on solid ground when the tide went out..It sounded like a water swirling slurping down a drain...She now lives by the Russian River...

Hey you and Ellis should team up on some Herbal products... I'd place an order! I love the smell of sandalwood oh and lemon spearmint...

Now Ellis , if you want some beautiful mural on your floor, I'd send her up there... hmmm now that might be something she hasnt done yet.. a mural under a toilet you can look down and peer between your legs at hmmmm EARTH from the perspective of Being on the MOON.. (Oh MY GAWD, I crack myself Up! )!
  • I have a million neglected hobbies it seems like. Painting, drawing, scrapbooking, crocheting, beadwork, furniture refinishing, decoupaging, etc. The only thing I am REALLY doing right now though is trying to lose weight & organize my very tiny house. It's so hard to be creative when everything is a chaotic mess I think. I am also getting ready to go back to school in August, for graphic arts. Woohoo! I am so excited about it! stuido classes!
  • Dawn, I'm doing the same thing. I'm getting rid of a TON of stuff. We have a really big house, but I've managed to completely fill it with all kinds of "useful" junk.
I finally realized that I can't enjoy life when it's so cluttered with STUFF, and I'm feeling really positive about having a clearer head and house.
Graphic arts... wonderful! I envy you! DH and I both studied art (design, graphic arts, etc) for some time.

    Schatzi, you're a friggin' NUT!
  • Ah Creative witty writing, tis my Craft!
Oh little mermaidinblack where did u go... I have a question about firespinning...

DL: Must unclutter to unblock that Chi baybee.. clutter screws with your energy... so say the Feng Shui'ers........... so Fab about school Good 4 U!
  • For anyone with clutter issues...or organizing, etc. Check out a site called www.flylady.net. She has some interesting ideas & her story is really cool. She is slightly religious but does not push it at all. If you join her site she sends out daily "missions" and stuff. Like reminders to do a 27 fling boogie, which means you grab a bag & get 27 things that need to go to the dump & toss them. It sort of makes it seem like a game. Or she will tell you to set a timer & clean for 15 minutes...that you can do Anything for just 15 minutes...and that you will be surprised that you go full tilt for 15, just how much you get done. I find that a room that looks like a disaster area can look pretty presentable in 15minutes. She talks about how most people with CHAOS (An't have Anyone Over Syndrome...lol) are actually perfectionists. THey say stuff like oh, I don't have time to do the whole room/house/closet/whatever, so I will wait until the weekend when I can do it right. Then it never happens, something always comes up. She stresses that if you let go of your perfectionism & accept that doing a job part of the way is better than not at all...and eventually your house is tidy. Kind of dovetails with weight loss really. Oops...I'm rambling again. Anyways, check out her site, its neat & free.
  • Dawn, thank you! I forgot about Flylady... I used to subscribe to the site, and I think I need to again.
