Just thought I would start a new fling thread - just in time to get our places in shape for the holiday season

Good idea, Mauvais!
As soon as my kitchen is finished and we can walk in here, I'm going to be doing a lot more flinging!

We got new furniture from my folks and we now need to rearrange the house. i will be rearranging and scaling down some of my knickknacks and put some actual book son my book case. also, we have about a zillion CD's with no cases floating around. We got a CD wallet and i will be filing those away so that there isn't so many stacked up EVERYwhere. That all happens tomorrow. YAY.

I did it. I moved two book cases, filled them with BOOKS! There's a novel idea, pardon the pun. I packed up most of the crap that was on those book cases to be seen some other day. So glad MIL no longer works in a knick knack store. So much crap, nowhere to put it!
Got all of our media organized and put away. Got the cat set up in a new corner - and boy is she upset about it!, organized our new furniture and even dusted while I was at it.
Got my bathroom and bedroom in a bit of order. Though I do need to find a miracle cure for black mold, because it grows in our bathroom and the only thing I found to kill it is bleach and let me tell you...when you are 5 foot 2, reaching the ceiling with a spray on bleach product is a major suck. add to that it falls back down in your face and on your clothes and rug and bleaches everything. I tried vinegar and some less toxic stuff but nothing is working. Any suggestiosn at all?

Ugh...I remember that problem in Oregon, Lizzie. MOLD!! BLah!!! I just would scrub the **** out of it with either comet or soft scrub. But nothing really seems to work. It's like a bad disease..it constantly returns!!

Well, I managed to fling 5 more bins FULL of stuff out to the garage and I moved my yard sale stuff out of my kitchen and office out to the garage as well. Now I just need those donation guys to come by and then have a yard sale. I'll attempt to do this right before surgery. Then I'll have time to sit here while recovering and sell the good stuff on FeeBaY.

I'd like to see you try to scrub your ceiling, noodles! there is another weird thing here in oregon, i'm not sure if it's a mold or what, but it's like this pink/peach colored something that just covers everything in the bathroom. it's not furry or anything, just like a film or scum or something. nothing kills it. it just comes back.
I must sound like a disgusting housekeeper but really, it just comes back.

You are making some major progress on your stuff though. Good going! I am so happy I don't have that much stuff to begin with. We have gotten rid of almost all of our crap we don't need. It's such a great feeling. Now to keep it that way... or to realize when something has become crap and just get rid of it instead of "saving it for later" ... that's going to be our test.

Try vinegar on it. It worked for me on that particular goop.

Well...I am redoing my bathroom. Just laid vinyl in there on Saturday (I'm pretty handy ) that looks like stone tile-grey/mocha/olive/rust. I painted the walls on Sunday and Monday a nice o.d. Army green...or dark olive. Wednesday I resanded and stained the baseboards and got them in so they look nice and fresh. The shower curtain is from www.bedbathandbeyond (type in Serendipity green in the search bar if ya wanna see it) and I will be filling the room with candles, towels, and sap looking things in rust, olive, beige, antique gold, ivory, and silver/gray. I

I also went through my closet and Jason's t-shirt drawer and got rid of some things we never wear.

I have a new Hunter ceiling fan and light kit for Jasmine's room...and some new things for the kitchen-let's see if I can get those done this week.

Sounds lovely Aphil!

I just finished up my bathroom too. It is painted a nice shade of medium green (including the ceiling) the trim is black. The cabinets, the tub, sink and toilet are all white porcelain, all of my hardware and accessories are that brushed metal look.

The rug is black on top of sand coloured tiles. I just put up a bamboo curtain at the tiny window in the shower stall and have a tall vase with fresh bamboo in it on the ledge. I also bought a new shower curtain that is beige with green bamboo patterns and shells on it. I have two small baskets made out of bamboo and painted green that store our hair products in one and my bath/ lotion products in the other.

I love it in there - the green is very calming and fresh looking - it feels really zen in there.

My aunt came over this weekend to babysit my kid...

She decided she wanted a buncha stuff so I told her TAKE IT!! So I sorta flinged more stuff... right?? I got rid of some furniture too!! YAY!! I had been using this old ottoman for a small table but it was so lopsided that stuff fell off of it. The aunt took it and I got a cute small wood table for it and now my stuff stays put.

I belong to www.freecycle.org-and just listed some stuff to fling on there...it is a cool site-check and see if they have a group in your area. We all list stuff we are going to toss out-and people email you if they want it. Surprisingly-most of the time someone does! lol

I just listed some stuff on there that I am looking for as well...gotta get some supplies for this years New Year's party.

What a great idea. I will have to check that out for my area.

I have been really really bad lately. My folks are leaving the states and they are going through stuff they've been carrying for years. And some of it I can't bear for them to part with. I am taking so much stuff from them, it's not even funny. But I can't help it. It's like I'm grasping at what I can hold on of theirs. *sigh* Like that's going to keep them here. I know better, and will most likely be culling out their stuff soon. But I just can't do it now. No flinging for Lizzie lately, sad to say.

Good job on everybody else though! It's amazing how many things tie in to your emotional state. Weight, health, pack-rattiness... you never realize how much of your life is guided by your emotions - even for people like me who rarely ever show them.

Aww..Lizzie..I'd do the same thing if I were in your shoes. Maybe when I get back up to Oregon I'll be more motivated to fling this stuff. Right now with upcoming surgeries and everything else my flinging motivation sorta left. I need it to come back though, cause I want to have a yard sale before Christmas.
