Yay! I exercised today!

New thread for our exercisers - go chicks go! :cheer:

So far today I have walked to work (25 minutes), taken the 14 flights of stairs down twice and had a 20 minute walk at lunch.

This evening I will walk 25 minutes to ww and then 40 minutes home :)

blugirrl1 02-12-2004 09:17 AM

well after feeling oh so lazy i jsut said to **** with it, and out into the snow i ventured. 20 min. walk in pm last night, and 30 min. yesterday afternoon.

mauvaisroux 02-12-2004 09:24 AM

Good going blugirrl! :cp:

Walked to the dentist yesterday - 40 minutes

mauvaisroux 02-13-2004 10:25 AM

Went to the dentist again on Wednesday - another 40 minute walk :)

Thursday was dance class night- so I bellydanced for 1 hour. My shoulders hurt a little this morning as we praticed doing movements with double veils which means my arms were in the air for about 30 minutes. I should be developing some great muscles soon!

dinamichele 02-13-2004 11:01 AM

Yesterday I walked 30 minutes to the grocery store and back and did squats, lunges, crunches and upper body! I'm shooting for more today.

mauvaisroux 02-13-2004 01:15 PM

Wow! Way to go dinamichele :cp:

mauvaisroux 02-14-2004 08:53 AM

25 minute walk home from work last night :)

ellis 02-14-2004 12:14 PM

Oh, my gosh... when I saw your name here, Mauvais, I thought, "Don't TELL me she's counting the walk to the restaurant and back!"

dinamichele 02-14-2004 01:50 PM

40 minute walk to the store today.....in the snow!

mauvaisroux 02-15-2004 10:54 AM

Hey, ellis, that WOULD count as exercise - 15 minutes there and 15 minutes back....it all adds up. I am counting my grocery shopping as exercise...I think walking around Costco for an hour and then walking around an uber grocery store (Loblaws for you Canucks) that seems to take up 3 city blocks lengthwise and 3 city blocks widthwise counts for something

mauvaisroux 02-16-2004 07:58 AM

Sunday- moved furniture and built a nightstand - arm muscles are a bit sore this morning :(

mauvaisroux 02-16-2004 09:38 PM

Walked at lunch today, then walked to weight watchers and then walked home.

blugirrl1 02-17-2004 07:14 AM

yesterday morning had to venture out into the snow, and walk for 30 min. but boy did it aggravate my cough. i couldn't breath all night. at least i walked!!

Oxycise

Wow this is exciting. I NEVER thought I would be able to post on an EXERCISE thread. Will wonders never cease.

BARB G and other posters in other forums inspired me to order the Oxycise tapes. And MEG inspired me to start Exercising. I have been doing Oxycise the last couple of days (too soon to tell anything yet).

I admit I am more than a bit SKEPTICAL at this point about OXYCISE
but what the H--L

I am starting with Level One Easy Does It (judging by some of the folks in the tape --it is me and seniors in their high 90's mostly -also a pregnant lady). One of the ladies is 92 yrs old and she talks about how she has less of a turkey waddle under her chin now!! But since I have not exercised in so long and so I had to start it slowly. Some of those folks in their 90's have spunk!

I am not quite sure if I have the breathing down pat or if I am breathing in and out deeply enough. I will measure in about 2 weeks and let you know.

Some days I just do the 30 reps of the deep breathing without doing the actual stretches/exercises don't know if that is OK or not, Maybe BARB G will let me know if that counts or not. Thanks, Pookie

Has anyone on this forum had good luck with Oxycise?

P.S. I am having surgery in a few months so trying to lose weight first to make surgery go easier.

Have started back to running and weights in addition to yoga. This is how i've lost weight before, and I guess I need to get back to it. Sigh. :(

squeaker 02-22-2004 09:37 PM

Bowled 3 games with Mom & Sis#2. Does that count?

ellis 02-23-2004 07:26 AM

Squeak, bowling counts. (actually, for you, almost anything counts  )

ellis 02-23-2004 07:27 AM

Love ya!

POOKIE88 02-23-2004 05:08 PM

I walked from one end to the other and back at the mall. Steady wins the race. :snail:

I brought two dumbells today. I had to laugh because the salesman looked like ARNOLD S with huge muscles and I am asking about the 2 or 3 lb weights.

He had to dig in the back to find the 2 lb weights but at least he didn't call me a "girlyman"

Just kidding he was very patient with me and didn't look down his nose at the "weak" lady with no upper body strength. He didn't even kick sand in my face.
Now I have to dig out those weight lifting for "dummies" tapes I have so I can figure out what the heck to do with these 2 lb weights :strong:
Watch out ARNOLD !!!

mauvaisroux 02-23-2004 09:09 PM

Way to bowl Squeak! :cp:
