PANDORA ROSE! wow and double wow
|
Beautiful bracelets Rosey, what fun to be a recipient of them....lucky family. I forgot you have a hunter hubby like mine. Bruce has never said anything about my spending, he knows better. K3 and Donna would get the posse together and he'd see stars bigger than the star at Bethlehem.
I'm composing our grazing menu for Christmas, the last 2-3 years we make a big snacking table with hot/cold foods, cheese balls, crackers, etc. I found a recipe for sugared pecans I'm drooling about. I will make them for the party but don't dare make them ahead of time. My jeans are tight, will have to get serious about dropping the couple pounds off after Christmas. I hate counting calories but it works for me. Congrats Cajun on hubby bagging a deer, wonderful meat. We make most of our into hamburger, packaged into 1/2 pound units for just the 2 of us. Mary...we give our kids cash too, they need it more than gifts. I buy a fun gift too, like those big tins of mixed popcorn, caramel corn and cheese corn. Glynne...You sound like a saver like me, I reuse zip bags if they haven't been contaminated with raw meat. Anything with meat goes in the garbage but I often store dry goods in them, oatmeal for instance. All my flours, sugars, etc get put in zip bags and then stored in containers. K3...my myers lemon tree has grown to about 4 feet tall but no flowers on it since I brought it into the house for the winter. I'm afraid it doesn't get enough sun. Karen...is that a brand new car? Nice! I think you trade cars more than anyone I know. I've had my little red sports car for 13 years and will only part with it when I croak. (My grandsons will fight over who gets it) Bruce said he heard again on the news not to store foods in plastic because of the fumes and toxins the containers give off. I'm thinking of replacing all my plastic containers with glass, what do you all use? Enough gabbing for me, time to get some baking done. Donna...where art thou? |
Good Morning, All!!
Bobbi - I'm here, lurking... Can you believe there are 110 or so posts on this site already? That's not bad at all, considering how low it'd fallen, compared to the 500+ we used to do! Rosie - those bracelets are so pretty! I'd like a green one, I think... thank you! I'm so impressed that your eyes and fingers work well enough for that teeny work. I had LASIK probably 20 years ago, and since the presbyopia started, I can't do any close work. It makes me crazy! Actually, it's just one of many things that make me crazy! I can't believe how fast Christmas is coming! I'm about as done as I'm going to get as far as gifts. My list has been cut drastically, which helps. I'll do some baking for gift giving, too, for the neighbors. Hold your excitement about my hip surgery! I got a call yesterday that the soonest dates available are in JUNE. I was much annoyed yesterday, but after sleeping on it, maybe it's for the best. I was thinking of retiring June 30 and having the surgery done after retiring, but then I decided the pain made an earlier surgery a good idea. That messed up things at work, of course. We're a tiny office, so one person gone IS a huge deal. I'm really ready to retire, so I think I'll have to push the June 30th date again... UNLESS, of course, someone cancels their surgery and I can get in earlier. One day at a time... and "people plan and the angels laugh".... Bobbi - I've heard that microwaving food in the plastic containers is the no-no. I've not heard that storing food is a no-no. Most of them are made without that offending by-product now, anyway... glass would be the best solution. Pyrex makes a 3-set of glass storage bowls with lids that I LOVE. Great sizes and just way cool. Nothing much is new. I'm energized and want to wash the bay window and clean the kitchen floor (we'll see how long THAT lasts!). I need to take advantage of the energy while it's here! Everyone, be well! Later, lovelies! |
Hello everyone. Still hacking but feeling stronger. Still staying home though. I've gone through cough drops like candy. Dh is getting me more today. I missed our dd's first performance last night and probably will miss tonights. She understands but of course I would have liked to be there. Also tonight is our own church's musical program. I've seen the previews and it sounds really good. I think dh may go. I have decided to get my last (for sure, I may need another) gift online today. With the pre-lit tree we didn't feel we needed ornaments or anything...it's pretty and simple...just right for us these days. I did put the nativity scene in front of it. I will wrap the gifts soon and put some under the tree. Most won't as we'll be taking them to our dd's. We do things more and more simply these days. No baking so far but will be taking something to our dd's house for the big day. If our son can't be there I may have a simple nice dinner for he and his GF before they leave for her moms. While all the pretty fun "stuff" around Christmas has always been fun but it is has never been the heart of Christmas to me anyway and now life is just simpler and in some ways Christmas is more meaningful to me than ever.
Jess - Glad you are getting your surgery and maybe the new date will be just right afterall. Just hope your pain doesn't get worse before it though. Bobbi - Yes most of our kids need cash more than gifts too. Of course we did ourselves at their ages but thing is we had no one to give it to us! So glad we can do it for ours. Yes supposedly plastic (bags and containers) are not the healthiest in which to store food. I have to admit I still use it to store food in the fridge/cupboards though even though my oldest dd has gasped when she saw it.;) I have gotten some glass containers though that I use for leftovers that I think will likely be reheated in microwave (I don't use plastic in microwave). I love the look of stored food products in glass canning jars in the cupboards/pantry! But still I bought some of those plastic containers with the push-down lids...think they are called OXO or something like that? I like them because they fit together so nicely but I don't have enough of them and I kinda miss the glass jars. So what can I say.... I want to be healthy and efficient and organized but am not consistent at any of it! :?:Hope you figure it all out. I love the idea of a lemon tree....also always wanted a grapefruit tree...but doubt they would do well in our weather. Our weather is actually pretty mild (but not really warm)but we get a lot of (cold) rain. We do have a bamboo plant that has survived quite nicely for many years now though. Rosey - The bracelets are beautiful! I admire your craftiness...I am all thumbs when I try to do anything like that. |
It has been almost 2months and I still can't use smiles or do attachments here

hi now who said what here? :dizzy::dizzy::dizzy:
i'll answer, but i don't remember who said what, where, and when! :dizzy::dizzy::dizzy: i am very dizzy-lizzy. i did read all your posts, and i enjoyed them. we never have snow, just 4 seasons fitting togetyher to make the year. i say god laughs when we make plans….lol… similar. ;););) i am xmas ashopping tomorrow. we have not much done i'm afraid, just a very lirttle planning. dh just bought a heap of very nice coffee cups from agarage a sale (in their boxes) to create presents for under our tree when unexpected visitors arrive. he is a very kind and generous man. prefers to give rather than receive. he will buy for himself if he needs anything. he never asks for a thing, so hard to buy for because he says 'i don't want anything' :p:p:p so yesterday i bought him a dr who dvd and magazine combo set. he will like that - he loves dr whop. then the othjer day i bought him a 2014 diary. he uses thenm for his work. he always gives me exquisite presents and is VERY generous too, like valuable jewellery etc. i have tONS of lovely things - all from my DH. i have twin niece and nephew. both teens. i don't know what to buy them. oh that's right. i found some nice clothes fore them. i just have to ring my brother to find out the size. teenagers hate clothes presents, they find them so boring i know but what else do you get for them? my DH has some bottles of wine for my brother, and my mum ('i don't want ANYTHING') is getting a 'bikini cookbook'. my sister-in-law…well she is a tough one…don't know yet…:hug::hug: i think i will look for a pretty dress for xmas day. i had a look nearby and all there was was cheap junk and i HATE cheap clothes! so i'll have to drive to elizabeth (a bigger centre with lots of shops). :o:o:o oh, my 3 dogs and 1 cat, yes they are very funny. the smallest is boss of course! well she's a fox terrier so what else would you expect? we also have a german shepherd but she is so timid it's pathetic.:hug::hug: lol :dizzy::dizzy::dizzy: now, xmas cooking.mmm well i thought i would makle a trifle. and a good mayonnaise-seafood sauce thingy for the prawns that i haven't bought yet. i hope i can find some big prawns, fresh. lots of places have medium prawns and they call them jumbo-sized. really. i know my seafood. not impressed. crayfish (lobster) is sooooo xpensive at this time of year, i don't think i'll buy any, unless i find one, just for the two of us , of course!:hug::hug: nice to chat. ive lost anothjer 100 grams so i am, sitting on 85 kilo's - i get my reward for that - a weeping angel for our new back yard (only the verandah is actually done - the rest is a mess of course because we dug it up!) :(:(:( DH is outside drilling something….bfn, i must go and supervise! lol |

Alright, I will try this again. With celebratory cartoons. Let's see if it works!
I reached goal today :cp: :cp: :cp: :cp: :cp: I'll get pictures posted later on the goals photo subforum. I've gotten a new swimsuit for water polo, and I may take a picture of it, but I will surely cut off my head in the photo! I dont think I will change anything though. I am happy with my diet; I am used to it. I've added the C 25K program in the past 2 months. It's kickin' my behind, but I am working through it. I repeat weeks. My hips were unhappy the first 4 weeks, so I had to go slow. (KAREN3 - you have to enter the codes for the smilies, for example : cp : (without the spaces before and after the cp) is the clapping symbol.) |
Congrats Delmarv on reaching your weight goal!! I am SO happy for you!! It's been so long since I've done it but I still remember how wonderful I felt! I think your right too on not changing much....because maintaining can be even harder than losing...so please do be careful. You, Bobbi, Lynne...who else ( I know there are others but some are not longer with us) are my inspirations as you have reached your goals and have maintained or stayed very close to that number ever since. We all go up and down a little but the trick is not getting so far away from it that we can't easily get back. Been there, done that!
|
Thank you, Maryea! I am actually fearful of changing my diet because I don't know what to change it to. I think if I keep it the same, I may allow more than one treat a week. Maybe two? It's been a slow loss.I pray I'll keep it off.
I am also happy to hear you are feeling better. The flu is starting to hit harder now; I am hearing more public health messages about flu shots. Being over 50 now, we have to take a bit more care with our lungs. Problems can go from acute to chronic too easily, though I guess that's true for just about any body part! Heal quickly! |
K3...have you notified the administer about not being able to use some features? Something has changed for me too, I have to put my user name and password in every time I post on my desktop computer. My laptop I don't have to, I get right in. Weird!
|
K3...check on your User CP up top of page, left side. Click on User Cp, then Edit Options. Make sure visible post elements have all 3 boxes checked. Then go down to miscellaneous options and use the Message Editor Interface.. Don't use the basic or standard editor. click save changes and see if that works.
