hi gg's

hi cajunlady…oh i'm not offended - you talk about whatever, whenever you want. :carrot::carrot::carrot:

my DH is like you also - he and his brothers and friends have lived off the land all their lives, and, as i said, they kill and butcher their own beef. my DH's father was a kangaroo-shooter. we don't eat that meat…mainly it's for pets, but some eat it. the aborigines mainly. yich. disgusting lol.bb:hug::hug::hug:

i am fine this morning after a whoosh of sorts…stuck for 2 weeks on 85.4 kilo's and this morning i was 84.2. yah!!!!! :carrot::carrot::carrot:

Wish I could say the cough is gone but darn it, it isn't! :( Had another rough night last night but finally got a few hours sleep with the Nyquil. Nyquil has been my friend, would have been much worse without. Funny but it as well as other cough liquids usually don't help me much. I used to have a doctor who would prescribe cough syrup with a good dose of codeine...that was great but my current doctor doesn't allow enough codeine in it and it's a small bottle!:dizzy: I'm not a drug abuser, but when I have a bad cough I'd like something strong enough to help me. Between the coughing and running to to the BR I'm pretty busy...:dizzy:

I do have Christmas shopping all done for those who live in other areas at least!! I consider that my grand accomplishment considering I haven't done much else. Even had to do some of it twice...I had put all the cash gifts in several envelopes, then found out one of my gds did not get last years gift so I went through and took out the cash and wrote checks for everyone. I've never had any problem before unless someone didn't tell me but I don't want to take the chance. Otherwise, for those nearby, I have bought only two other christmas gifts, so have quite a few left to buy for. Dh says he can't think of anything he wants and to just forget him this year. Some years we don't exchange gifts so this might be the year but if I can think of something I'll get it. Maybe when I can get out physically shopping I'll see something.

So far I've missed two parties. I'm glad dh got to go at least. My youngest dd is playing Mary in her church play Fri/Sat nights but won't go if I'm still hacking. Then also Fri/Sat our own church musical is happening. I'm hoping our son will go with us or with his dad if I can't go. I love all these things as helps me keep my focus at this meaningful season. A hightlight today ...I got a letter from my gs who lives across the river...thanking me for the game I got him for his birthday. He is such a sweet little guy!

Saraphin - I've forgotten how to convert to pounds so don't know how much that loss is but congrats!! When you're dieting, any loss is a good one! BTW, I'm like you about the hunting, but my son loves to hunt. He hasn't gotten a deer yet but he loves to think he will. I'd rather just look at the pretty deer and marvel at God's creation. But as you say we are all different and that's what makes this an interesting (and very cool!) group! So happy to have "met" you all as you have added a great deal to my life as I read about your varied lifestyles.

Glynne - I have to say you sound much more chipper since you haven't been working!! Think that old job had something to do with how you felt? I really hope you don't have to go back to working and just enjoy doing things you love!

Bobbi - I've pretty much stopped sweeping Too time consuming and for some time now I have felt led to spend my time doing other things more. So doubt I'll be winning much now. I only won a couple books last month and so far nothing this month. When I first started sweeping seriously back around 2000, I did it with the hope of winning all my Christmas gifts. At the time money was tighter and it was helpful even though I never won everything I gave at Christmas. One year I gave my sil a very nice charging dock for his devices and I think it also plays music too. They still use it. I also won golf balls for him and I've won several things for the children. So it was helpful as well as the GCs and cash I've won (no really large amounts though...it kinda dribbled in as $25-$50-$100) through the years, LOTS of books, 3 iPods and the one trip to Philadelpha...I can't complain. I had a pretty good run. Of course I would still like to win a car! :dizzy:

Take care you are and enjoy the season...

Don't ever read your horoscope and think it's going to be a perfect day....hah....Long dull story of long long waits followed by having to do U turns on Rt 19 followed by more long waits. The only place with no wait was Dunk'nDonuts where I had planned on rewarding self after another long wait a dozen donuts. Well that didn't happen. Thank goodness for my Kindle.

Dh has lost his supplemental medicare card. After him going thru 10k cards I called and instantly got a new one sent to him. I could have kissed the operator she was so pleasant. He had shoulder replacement 2 years ago and someone must still have his card. He kept saying he never had it and then I remembered he makes copies to give to office staff...and guess what there was a copy. Sometimes being right also means keeping your mouth shut!

Packing stuff to take up to NC already. I'll be gone all next week...back for Christmas.

I have claimed for 55 years I hate meatloaf. Funny because people love my meatloaf. BUT my mother made such a nasty meatloaf with chunks of bread that got soaked in grease and tasted like dog boogers. And I had to clean my plate "because the children in Europe were starving." Anyway Sat I asked DH to make me a meatloaf sandwich....OMG it was the best thing I ever ate. I'll never mail another portion of meatloaf to Europe!

Chilly morning but it is lovely out now...Hopefully Lynn and I can meet shortly after the holidays.

saraphin 12-12-2013 04:17 PM

so funny karen. tell me, why is it you have to live in southern central florida? why can't you just say FLORIDA for goodness sake?

well I live in northern central middle upper east gawler north of adelaide on central eastern south australia on the saint vincent gulf, NOT spencer gulf. so there.

Karen3 12-12-2013 04:54 PM

Phin...Florida is divided into sections with various names...The area around Palm Beach is called the Gold Coast, Emerald Coast is North of us, etc....we are actually the Nature Coast. The ladies laugh at me with the local wild life...yup we have bears, wild hogs, deer and of course gators. I live at the bottom of the Big Bend and the town with Winter snowbirds is still tiny. Florida isn't very wide but long. It takes about 12 hrs driving 75mph on the interstate highway to go end to end. When they shot up the space rockets on the East Coast almost everyone in the state could watch them go up. That was awesome!! Florida is 3 temp/weather zones. Tropical, subtropical and coastal. We can grew oranges and Myers lemons here, but not limes. We have 3 seasons, 2 months of chilly followed by 10 minutes of spring flowed by 10 months of HHH. We live on a canal and we are 1 mile by boat from town and 1 mile to the Gulf. Lots of fishing and shrimping

saraphin 12-12-2013 05:11 PM

that sounds so cool.

maryea 12-12-2013 08:44 PM

Got more shopping done today...bought two gifts online and also two more ornaments. I give the gk an ornament each year until they grad high school.
Then went to Target and bought a couple more gifts. I had a coupon for $5 off $50 purchase. I needed a couple things for myself so easily managed the $50 so helped out. Was worn out by the time I got home, but now I only have 2 or possibly 3 more gifts to buy.
My weight continues to drop...hoping this continues..

Good morning ladies. It Friday and that means pack day. Off to the camp this afternoon after work. Dh killed a 9 pt deer yesterday afternoon right here by the house. It's deer meat for supper tonight. It supposed to be raining tonight into Saturday morning. We have been having some colder than normal days. It will probably turn hot for Christmas and New Years.

Rosey glad your sweet grumpy patient is doing ok. Men are such whiney things when they are sick.

Mary congrats on your continued weight loss. Glad you're feeling better.

Karenfl your nature home sounds like mine here in the swamps of louisiana in cajun country. We have all kinds of wildlife and seafood too. That's why I'm fat. Did you ever hear about cajun cooking!!!

Sara that's quite a description of your place.

Karenfl I forgot about them Duncan donuts you were going to consume. Practice what you preach girl!!!! I'm going to remind you when you're on my butt. Lol

Ta ta for now. Hi to all I missed.

Hugs
Cajun

Good morning GG's!!! Well, Merry Christmas To Me!! My Hubby got me a Mustang Convertible for Christmas! It won't fit under the tree so a bow on it in the garage was the next best thing! I was so excited and glad we got it yesterday and not today----today it is freezing rain and black ice!! So it is safe and sound in the garage!!

Going to have my son, his girlfriend and her boys here for Christmas :carrot: that makes me happy!! They will be here the 21st. and will need to leave to go home on the 26th. Looking forward to that. Now I need to get out and get some shopping done. But that will have to wait until we get back from my nieces wedding this weekend. Looking forward to that but not the drive on nasty roads.. Glad we will be taking Tim's Escalade truck that is AWD and HE will be driving!

Everyone have a great day and I'll catch you later.

Karen3 12-13-2013 12:17 PM

Cajun....you mean cooking like Justin Wilson....making everything with oooionss. We moved here from MD Eastern Shore where there were yearly competitions in muskrat skinning/cooking with you Cajuns. They call it Old Bay seasoning but there every store made their own mix. phewy that can be smoking good. Grew up in the mountains but have lived half of my life below sea level on the marshes. Hey I didn't get those donuts, no wait there but they tasted good in my thoughts and missed my hips

I have 7 wee silver bags on the table with a wee dog toy peeking out of each of them. Already for Sir Dash to deliver to his neighborhood doggage. Such fun instead of cards.

ahhhh DH just walked up to me and handed me a tiny ground dove who had flown into the house instead off with her flock. She is no bigger than a tennis ball, soft feathers various gray shades and a pink bill. Totally calm sitting in my palm. Let her go with the others and she'll be back for a meal asap.

Good afternoon GG’s,

Where did the sun go? It was sunny the last couple days. That sure perked me up. I do so much better as far as feeling like I am in better spirits and with a little more energy when it is sunny out. My goof ball DH, doesn’t matter to him if it is dreary and not sunny or night time ~ he doesn’t care. He could live in a cave and be perfectly happy. I need the sun darn it!! LOL

I felt like I accomplished something Wednesday and Thursday. There is one kitchen counter that seems to collect clutter. I will get it cleared off, and some time passes and it starts all over again. I set stuff there because I don’t have time to deal with it at the time, and time just gets by so fast. Confession here ~ there was stuff on there (things coworkers had given me at work) from last Christmas. So, anyway, I got that counter cleared off. Sadly, any flat surface in our house is in danger of collecting clutter. I am hoping maybe that will be better now that I am not working.

Yesterday, I got the Christmas cards (ones in boxes to be sent) organized. We have accumulated quite a few boxes ~ buying pretty ones or ones we liked ~ at the after Christmas sales. I had collected a whole bunch of different sized zip lock bags ~ recycling. At work when the pharmacy delivered meds to put in the medicine machine, they came in these nice zip lock bags, which they just discarded. It drove me crazy to see them go to waste, so I snagged them ~ and have all kinds of uses for them. I had enough of them to take those Christmas cards out of the original boxes and be able to store them more compactly. It will also be easier to see what they are ~ just sort of flipping through them like files ~ to find what I want. Every year, I hope to get some sent out, and every year, the time just flies by as does the energy, and they don't get done. So, another thing I am trying to get done with my newly aquired extra time. This extra time is as good to me as CK's mustang ~ LOL.

Sadly, I am out of oomph today, so you all are stuck with me.

Later this afternoon, I am supposed to be going with DS Jason ~ kind of a test drive to his new work place. Trying to find maybe the quickest/best route. His work place closes this month. Last night was his last night (after 11 years). He starts at the next place on Sunday. In this day and age of jobs being hard to come by, he was lucky to get a job. A similar business came to his work place to interview these soon to be unemployed people. Jason was one of the lucky ones ~ he had a good attendance record and was know to be a good hard worker, so they wanted him. He is apprehensive about starting a new job. I hope it goes well for him.

Guess this has gotten long enough. I will give everyone’s eyes a rest ~ LOL

Hope you are having a good day.

Take care

maryea 12-13-2013 02:53 PM

Good morning all! Didn't cough nearly as much last night, so less drugs and woke up earlier, feeling stronger but still coughing.
So far it's been strange morning with family issues. Dh went to support, I stayed home to pray for all concerned.

Karen31 - What a great Christmas gift you got! You lucky girl you...:D
Glad you will have your son and his family with you again for another holiday.

Cajun - congrats to your dh (and you!) on the deer...I should think that's a lot of meat and helps on the budget!

Rosey - that's part of the reason I've gone with sending cash (this year checks) for Christmas to all my k/gk 15 and over...it's just too hard to know what they want and need, guessing at sizes etc. Most are kinda of picky at that age too. Even the 13 year old just wanted a GC per his mom...so next year I may just send him money too. I did buy for the littler ones...8-1 and for the adult kids close by. Still haven't figured out what to get my dd. She may get a GC.

bye for now..

Bobbolink 12-13-2013 10:32 PM

Hi Ho everyone, it's beddy bye time for me. I have a couple minutes before my radio program starts and thought I'd check in. I'm using my new laptop while sitting in bed, it's awkward with no mouse but I'll get used to it. I like the search google, I just say out loud what I'm searching for and it pops up. (Okay Google).
Bruce went up to Cabelas and sold one of his cowboy reenactment pistols today for some extra cash for Xmas gifts. He got a little over $500.00 for it and I was a happy girl. I asked him if he sold both pistols, he said no...only one. Makes me wonder how much he paid for them when new, something else he hides from me. For those who haven't heard me complain before, my hubby is selfish, has tons of guns and everything that goes with them. K3 knows what I'm talking about.
We're getting our 22 year old grandson a 6 month membership to the YMCA, something we really can't afford on social security but he needs to stay out of trouble and he likes to work out.
My program in on...ta ta
