Good Morning, All...

Bobbi - yes, you are VERY accommodating! And I (and these old eyes) thank you for your spaces!! About your refrigerator... a dying refrigerator sucks up a LOT of electricity! When mine died and was replaced with a new one, the change in the bill was remarkable! I'm getting excited for you and your new cathouse. Have you closed on it? The black/white combo in the kitchen will be lovely! Except for the selling, packing, moving, and resettling, I envy you!

Rosey - congrats on moving along with the TT. You're going to be such a glamour girl! Keep up posted on your journey!

Gayle - you have such a good attitude with your work dysfunction! Things are going MUCH better this week at work. We ALL needed a break last weekend, and things are much better. I'm safe from the path of drunkenness again!

I'd better get moving. I'm off work today, because my tax appointment is scheduled in the middle of the work day (ooooh, how DID that happen???????) and it's not worth driving to work just to leave again. I've saved up quite a bit for the tax bill, just in case. I closed out a small annuity to help pay off the wee mortgage left, and I know that's going to hurt me. As long as the gov't doesn't consider that "earned income", I'll be fine. If they do, I'll lose my social security for the entire next year. And that most definitely would NOT be fine. It seems absurd to be worrying about thousands in taxes when the income level is so very low... ah, to be among the 1%!

Have a good day, all. Later, lovelies!

We went to the gym and I walked the track and biked as usual, but tired quickly and felt a little dizzy so didn't do anything else. PT added two new exercises (these for my shoulder/arm) where I use a wood bar. Dh is going to cut an old broom stick for me to use here at home. I also got another of those electric injections...not sure what you call them. Apparently I will continue to get these for at least a couple more times. Now I'm hurting more but hopefully like last time I will get some relief eventually.

My pulse blender (Ninja) quit working for me so we went to Costco and I got an inexpensive Oster. Haven't tried it yet but it is supposed to be a good ice crusher. Will see. By the time I got home I was ready to crash, so just laid around and watched Judge Judy, and then took a nap. What a life! Woke up feeling terrible so I just steamed some broccoli and dh grilled some salmon he caught yesterday. I didn't think I could eat but it actually tasted very good and I ate about a cup of broccoli and about 3-4 oz of fish.

Right now I am not dizzy. Still waiting for my endocrinologist appt...but my thyroid labs were good.

Rosey - Glad you got your refund and accomplished so much with it. We are waiting until April 1st when we can withdraw from savings account with penalty to pay our big tax bill. Sorry about your tripping on the cord, and I hope Steve will never do that again! Loved your picture! You are really looking good!

Donna - At least you paid off your mortgage. It is very freeing not to have a mortgage. I hope you won't lose your SS though!

Bobbi - The black and white kitchen sounds great, very modern. You should see my old 1965 kitchen...no, wait, you really shouldn't. I was going to start saving for a remodel but then that big tax bill came up and also I think we need new exterior siding even more. Sounds exciting to be moving into another house and being able to fix it up the way you want it! When our youngest son lived with us, he used to fall asleep with the TV going. If I woke up, I'd get up and turn it off, but sometimes I didn't wake up. When he got married, our electric bill dropped by $20! I've heard turning off your computer helps about that much too, but when I tried it it didn't seem to reduce our bill and it was an inconvenience. I like my computer to be ready to go at all hours!

Good morning girls...headache again at 4:15am, dang. But I'm going to stick it out for a month to see if that's the culprit.

Mary...funny you should mention turning off computer at night, I have alway turned it off but NOT unpluged it from the wall. All the lights on the tower and internet box are all lit up. Last night I unpluged it from the wall, easy access so not a hardship from me.

I told DH that we need to stop turning on the lights when entering a room in broad daylight, he agreed, easier said than done. Our laundry room is in the basement with just one basement window for light. I always turn on the light. Yesterday when doing a load of laundry, I had the light on to see the measuring line in the detergent cap...then turned it off. I hung up the clothes with no light on too.

Bruce gave my dryer away a few years ago to a needy family that moved into the area and I never used it. 9 months of the year I hang laundry outside and the other few month on a clothes line in the basement. They dry overnight and smell just like the outdoors, air drying makes them smell good.

Rosey...My MIL used to make a wild rice casserole just like yours except for the cream of mushroom soup, she just used chicken broth. I love wild rice and celery, Yum-0. Easter will be at my brothers house, about 5 families will be there. It's wonderful that both my sisters and both brothers/families live all in the same town. (same town we're moving to) I hope you're not too stiff from your fall, box Steve's ears from us.

My black frig and stove are beautiful but look out of place in my current kitchen. They scream for white cabinets, mine are oak.

Donna...I never thought about the electricity using old refrigerator, I'll bet that will help too. I mentioned to Bruce what you said and he agreed.

How many of you use a self cleaning oven? I had one on my stainless steel stove but just wiped up spills instead of using that feature. Up at the appliance store, the salesman said it was very hard on ovens heating them up to that extreme temperature to clean them. The new stove we just purchased has added a new cleaning feature, either self cleaning the high heat way or steam clean. He said it was much easier on the stove.

Minidoodle...Happy Easter to you too, what's ya having?

Glynne...have a good day off Friday, does that mean you have to work Easter?

K3...what kind of gourmet meal are you cooking up?

KarenMo...I'm sure you'll be with family on Easter, isn't it nice to be living closer to your sisters/bro?

If I miss anyone, sorry. You have to get on the board to chat or we forget about you.

Time to get hopping, later gators.

Just gone bavk to his on planenet. doesn t care what is happening down on earth to us mere mortals. I'm just exhausted and tired of being the one everyone gets to dump on.Think I better go to bed. Hope everyone is well;

Good evening GG's,

It has been a rare quiet day today. Got to work on some more of those trim things for my scrubs. Especially wanted to get the one done for Easter. It was quiet here and I got several others done that I had cut out but had not gotten a chance to work on. This evening cut out some more that I had bought cloth for.

Had another project I was gonna work on, but ran out of time. One of those no sew throws ~ a little baby size one for nephew's baby.

We were posting at the same time Deelee ~ sorry for all you are going through.

Back to work tomorrow. My schedule is a little different next week than usual, so I've go a 5 day stretch.

Hope you all have a nice Easter weekend.

Take care

Good Morning
Busy morning for me, have to run into town for fresh lemons and buttermilk. We're going to eat Easter with my siblings, I'll bring two buttermilk lemon pies. Easy-peasy, can make today.

Rosey, Donna, Dee, Glynne, K3, KarenMo...this thread has about dried up, should we let it die? Otherwise I'll post April's thread.

Good Morning, All...

Geez, Bobbi - I hadn't even thought of letting this thread die. It's the only one I use, because it's the only one I've ever been able to figure out... and I'd really miss you gals! I know we don't use it for weight issues very much, but it is like sitting around with friends and just blathering. I would miss it!

Dee - I'm sorry that your life hasn't calmed yet. As selfish as it sounds (but it ISN'T!), would it be possible for you to take yourself, a bag of chips, some trashy magazines and just go off to a motel ALONE for a day or two, without cell phone access? It would do you a world of good to do something for yourself, and the rest of the world be damned. You have to take care of yourself, too!

Nothing to report. I'll miss you if this is our last couple of GG postings... but have a good weekend, regardless. Later, lovelies (I hope!)

Today is a busy day. I want to pickup a honey baked ham, some bags of Asian salad mix, maybe some eggs, rolls and some kind of dessert for tomorrow. Tonight I am boiling the eggs but will "devil" them in the morning before church. We are going to our dd's church in Portland as our gs is singing in their children's choir, and will be taking the food in our cooler. It is another beautiful sun shiny day here. We are having exceptionally nice weather for this time of year!

I like my new blender. It works really quickly and I don't have to pulse it even. It does have a pulse option for ice but it blends it up so nicely I am realizing I don't have to use it. Dh is glad because he hated the sound of my old pulse blender.

Bobbi - I agree with the others, I know I am not here every day but I really love this thread and don't want it to die. It's the only one I keep up with at all anymore. I would never have thought of unplugging the computer from the wall either maybe that it why I didn't notice much change in my bill. I admit I usually turn the light on in our garage when I'm out there doing the laundry. I have trouble seeing if I don't. I would love to hang my clothes like you do but we usually don't get much dry weather here.
I agree they smell so nice when dried outside. We have a self-cleaning oven but I don't use the oven often these days so don't have to clean it very often. Occasionally I let it go too long though and it does get to smoking when I do bake. That tells me it's time... I run around opening windows and doors because it will make our smoke alarm go off! I like the idea of a steam cleaning option and I'd probably use that more. I know they have that in dishwashers now too (for dishes/pans). They always say the newer technology uses less energy. We tend to keep our large appliances (like our cars) for at least ten years though.

Deelee - So sorry for what you are going through with your mom. I know that has to be really tough. I am praying for you.

Rosey - Hope Steve gets some answers soon. I know how it is to have to wait for them. I'm still waiting for my endocrinologist appt. Suppose it is because of the holiday and I'll probably hear next week.

Have a happy Easter everyone!!

Okay, I'll post the April thread. I've felt the same way you all do, a nice place to celebrate, let off steam, gab about family.
I tend to slack off posting when I'm not actively dieting plus spring is a busy month for us.
And lets not forget the golden girl crusaders with rolling pins!

Good, Bobbi! Don't scare us like that. I, at least, PROMISE I'll post something every day (if I can), even if it's just something short and stupid.
