It was another run around day...hard to get anything done at home this way! By the time i get home I'm tired and housework is the last thing I feel like doing! I started the day early (after little sleep again) at the clinic lab getting my cholesterol checked (just routine). Then we went to McDonalds for breakfast and I've been wanting to try their oatmeal. It was pretty good but a little too instant tasting (pasty) for me...I prefer the old fashioned kind. Also it was too many carbs. Whoops!

After that we went to the gym. I walked the track briskly for 10 min, rode the bike on 8 for 20 min, the arm bike for 6 min (tried to set it at 2.5 level but not sure I got it set right), and then finished with 2 sets of 12 reps on 3 weight machines. Felt pretty good.

Then we went to Big 5 for a large exercise ball for some exercises PT wants me to do and I also got a youth basketball for my gs (6) as I promised him I'd get him one. He has a hoop, but no ball. We also stopped at Kohls as dh needed to return an item.

Otherwise...scheduled an appt for a mammogram (oh, goodie!), and worked on our budget, and paid a few bills. We usually bank with a local CU and also ING (online). I love ING but dh doesn't feel comfortable with no local building to visit, so today I finally transferred the funds in our ING checking to our CU, as I want him to feel better about it. I did convince him to keep some of our savings with ING though as the rates are better for regular savings. I have given him the phone number for ING to call and get help if I'm not around or able. Since he isn't very computer savvy and also hasn't handled the money much, I want things to be easy for him if he ever has to do it.

We have also been planning our winter trip. It won't be so long like when we RVed but still took quite a lot of planning. We will be staying in our timeshares with a few hotels and maybe military accommodations along the way. It's pretty cold at times here now so he is looking forward to it.

Glynne - Your cane sounds very cool! Hope that headache doesn't last long.

Cajun - We bought new lights (exterior) this year and dh hung them but we won't turn them on until the first probably.

Bobbi - You are always so industrious. Hope your dh gets a deer...that must be a lot of meat!

Karen31 -I'm trying not to think about your description of what they cleaned in your jeep! But the candied pecans sound very good...I love those things!

Good morning goldies,
Ds checked out my iPad and it was just password problems with my router. Yay I'm up and running again. It was hard to type on I phone.
Dh left this morning to go on his hunting trip. He was excited. Last night he pulled out my Xmas tree and decorations. I will do that tonight maybe. I hurt my back pulling wood into the camp Saturday. It was feeling better when I got up yesterday and I hurt it again lifting on something. I took medicine or inflammation and it's a little better this morning. We are going to the festival of lights Saturday and I'm hoping it will be ok. We will do a lot of walking all day.
I'm not being a good girl this week. Eating things I shouldn't. Can't seem to stop. I need an attitude ajustment.
My nephew is at the hospital today. They are having their baby boy today. He will carry on our last name into another generation. I have a great nephew in the hospital with the flu. High fever they can't break. 3 of the 4 in that family has the flu. To top that off my niece that has the flu also got burnt last Wednesday. She was cooking red beans in a magnalite pot and the lid formed a suction. She used a spoon to lift the lid and when she did the pot of beans exploded in her face and arms. They are treating her at the burn unit. It was a ugly thing. No one seems to know why the magnalite pot did that. She is 16 and a beautiful girl. Were hoping the scarring is not too bad.

Rosey~ what a beautiful family. Those pictures are priceless. Please don't take this the wrong way but your dh would make an awesome Santa. Love the beard. Lol I'm freezing at 45 degrees. I would never thaw at -8.

Mary~I admire your courage to keep exercising. I have no courage. I lost my drive to keep going on my diet and exercise. Where are you and dh going on you trip? How long will you be gone? Sounds wonderful.

Gayle~hope your head feels better. I love your snazzy cane. That's was a good idea. Hope your 4 days of work goes by fast.

Bobbi~dh left again to go on a hunting trip. Monday night I made a chili with the deer meat he ground and seasoned. It was so good. There was no grease in it at all. We always try to come up with new ideas to cook deer meat. We are all hunters and always have way too much meat. But we share it with family and friends. I had to chuckle when you said your lemon tree was losing leaves. Your lil lemon tree reminds me of Charlie browns Xmas tree with the 1 leaf and ornament. I'm so hoping you can save that lil tree.

Karenfl~ I love candied pecans. I usually make every year. But I eat too much of them. This year I might not make them. Hope your leg gets better.

Shout out to all I missed.

Hugs
Cajun

Good Morning, All!

Seems like a long time since I’ve posted! I’ve been blah and busy… what a combo!

Did anyone look at the T’giving card link I sent from Jacquie Lawson? There was no response. It was pretty cute!

Our T’giving was good, just me, my sister, and GM. Since I’m the only one who likes turkey, we had roast chicken and fixings. Good. The best part was having 4 days off in a row! I gorked and socialized and enjoyed.

Bobbi – is your lemon tree still with us? I’m so sorry that your potential buyers fell through… everyone wants a great deal AND to have the sellers pay for most of everything! Is the townhouse still on hold if you want it?

Mary – you mentioned a trip… where are you going for the Christmas holidays?

Gayle – I like the scrubs embellishments! Did ThePowers have anything to say about your T’giving addition? I thought it was a great idea!

I have a friend whose very elderly mother always says that headaches are because of dehydration. For what it’s worth, when I feel one coming on (other than a migraine, for which nothing works but dark and drugs!), if I drink a couple of very large glasses of WARM water, it seems to do the trick. Worth trying…

Cajun – your holiday had to have been the BEST, having your son safely at home!

KarenFL - hope your knee is better soon!

Rosey – the pictures turned out beautifully!! You have a lovely family (and your big bear DH seems happy, too!); thanks for sharing them! Is Steve well and healthy? You look GREAT, BTW.

I hobbled to a pain clinic yesterday afternoon to try cryotherapy. It’s a big chamber where nitrogen gas is pumped in, -220 degrees, and it’s supposed to help a lot with pain management. Well, I hated it! It’s only 2 ½ minutes, but it’s very uncomfortable. You’re standing there, nekkid, while this cold gas blasts you. I didn’t notice any relief after the treatment, but I was much less stiff this morning when I woke up. I have one more treatment next week, and then the D.O. is going to start a therapy on my hip.

He says that the problems are with soft tissue injuries, and he was able to pinpoint the muscles and tendons that are affected. It seems that there should be major relief within a couple of weeks, and I can afford that. He was appalled that the doctor suggested a new hip without suggesting any other treatment options. Keep your fingers crossed! This would be the best Christmas present EVER!

Carbie – where are you? I love your posts, and I miss you.

Day off today, so I should get rolling and use it productively. It’s been very pretty here, but oh, so dry!. If you can believe it, we have wild fires! Our snow pack is <50% of where it should be, and there’s no wet in the foreseeable forecast. This summer could be worse than last, if Mama Nature doesn’t get over her snit. I heard a report that last year’s drought and damage was nothing in comparison to what’s coming. Oh, poor all of us!

On that cheery note, have a good one, all. Later, lovelies!!

Hi Goldies!! I've missed you all!! I'm sorry I haven't been posting. I've been busy yet feel like I haven't accomplished anything.

The guys are getting closer to getting the outside work done, and today are taking final measurements etc to start on the indoor work. My porch looked so nice when they got done, and now I have it packed full of dressers, cabinets, chairs, etc, and my dining room has 2 TV's and 3 stands in it besides the table and chairs that belong in there. And, I had nowhere to go with the couch, love seat and the clothes from my closet so they are pushed to one end of the living room with the clothes piled on top. Now I'll have to cover them with plastic.
I'm pretty much living in the basement rec room. I still use the kitchen and dining room, and the dining room has a TV on the wall above where the stairs go down to the basement, so I can watch TV up there too. My computer is in the basement now too so I have a TV and computer down here too, plus 2 full-size futons and a love seat that makes into a bed, but I don't open it up. The ottoman that goes with it is as long as the love seat and about 2 1/2 ft wide so it makes for a nice bed when all pushed together.

It sounds like you all had a nice Thanksgiving. I did too, I drove to Lakeville, MN. to my youngest sons house. A 2-hr drive. Came back that evening, which was a mistake. I was thinking that I chose a good time to leave, (5 PM) thinking that most folks would be settled in having their evening meal while I drove home. It was raining and snowing, plus the wind was blowing pretty good too. I hadn't counted on Black Thursday. It seemed as though everybody and their sister was driving into the twin Cities to shop!
But, I made it home by 7 PM so I thought I did pretty good.

Then my oldest son and his 16-yr old son came up to visit me aboubt 8:30 PM and stayed, and stayed, and stayed, .... and about 1 AM the motion detector light went on and my son said, "There's someone in your yard". I thought it may be his oldest (21 yrs old) son stopping in because he maybe saw their car there. Well, it wasn't. It was a guy, about 25 yrs old, and when my son asked him what he was doing, he said he was looking for the Aquatic Center. It's about 5 blocks from where I live and on a completely different street. It's also open from May to september. And he sure as heck wasn't going to find it in my back yard, at 1 AM, on Thanksgiving. I think he saw the contractors equipment back there during the day and thought he'd come back during the night and see if there was anything to steal and sell. I think the Aquatic Center was a quickly made up story and stunk to high Heaven.

Jess, sorry to hear you're having all that pain with the hip yet. Hopefully the DO will be able to help you. Speaking of Turkey, ... yesterday I was looking for turkey thighs and called HYVEE to see if they had some and they did so I quick went and got them, and when I got there the guy said I have some fresh turkeys for Forty Nine Cents a lb if you're interested. I took all 4 of them. 20 to 24 lbs each. I have 2 in my freezer and my son took 2 to smoke for his New Years Eve party. Good deal.
This drought thing scares me. And I don't like brown winters either. So Dreary. It always looks like a scene from a Stephen Spielberg movie.

Cajun, glad your ipad is fixed. I go crazy when my computer is out of whack. Oh, how addicted we become to these things, huh?
Be careful with your back my friend. You don't want anything ending up being permanent.
I haven't been good with my foods etc either. I'm such a glutton. a food slut.
Congratulations on your new great nephew! Babies bring such joy, don't they? Even old grouches have to smile when they see a baby.
So sorry about your niece. I send good thoughts that she has no permanent scarring from the burns.

Gayle, you're way ahead of me with Christmas gifts. In fact, I'm not going to have Christmas at Christmas time this year. I'm going to wait till summer when the house is all done, and have a big party and give the grands their gifts then, and that way people can make use of the new upstairs and kids can play outside if they want to, and I'll be less stressed. ...... hopefully .......
Have the Drs ever xrayed your cervical spine to see if there might be some impingement there that might be causing the migraines? A friend of mine in the UK has had bad migraines since she was 16 yrs old and was involved in a car accident. She's in her early 60's now and they just recently discovered that she had an impingement from that car accident, and they did surgery and no more migraines. So far anyway, and she says she's never gone this long without a head ache.
I recently bought some packing, or shipping tape, and it too is pretty cool. White and black fancy squares. My cane is metal with green and brown camo and a brown handle. Haven't had to use it in 7 yrs, but I'm keeping it just in case.

Rosey, your family is beautiful. As for keeping away from holiday food, well, the one really good thing about going away for dinner (my first time!!) is that I didn't have all the leftovers to eat. My DIL sent a care pkg home with me with a serving of potatoes and gravy, dressing and a serving of turkey, and 1 piece of pecan pie. It was sooooo good too.

Maryea, like you said, ... "too many carbs!" I bet my pancreas is ready to give out completely. I just went shopping a little earlier and stopped at McDonalds and got a lg mint hot chocolate for the two guys and of course one for myself. But, it's so good! First time I've ever had one.
You got it all over on me though with going to the gym and doing all that exercise. I ate all that food and only walked around the lake once. My hips both hurt when I was done, but the one with the implant still hurt for about 4 days. It's a heck of a note when you need to exercise but your too fat to do it because you damage your joints worse. Ha! I have exercise videos though that don't require to much weight on the joints. I'm just lazy. A slug.

Bobbi, (or anyone) if I paint one of my rooms upstairs light blue, what color curtains would you suggest? I was thinking of either a silver-blue or a dark blue. The other room is going to be a darker blue and I'm going to make light blue curtains for that room. Then I'm going to have white lamps in both rooms.
That pork roast sounds good. I made some goulash last night with some sauce I made from the tomatoes I had this past summer. Tasted good, and of course, there's lots left over, so I'm set for a few days. I'm making some turkey thighs with mushroom soup gravy on cooked potatoes today for supper.
Hope your hubby gets a deer. My son gave me some deer steaks and some stew meat and I made a yummy stew last week.
I hope your lemon tree survives.

Karen3, gosh, I hope they get you some relief for your leg. That brings back memories of my hip before I had resurfacing on it. 5 years of pain. And the minute the surgery was done the pain was gone. It's been 7 years now and if it would go bad tomorrow I would consider it more than worth it because of the absolute relief I got so quickly from the implant.
There are times I forget I have an implant, ..... except of course when I foolishly walk too much on it when I'm not used to it. It never bothered me when I was working and I was on my feet all night at work.
Your description of the truck before detailing reminded me of those darned commercials of the Silverado trucks with the dog with goobers hanging from his mouth. And they always seem to have it on right before meal time! YUCK!!
Your candied pecans sound good though!
And BTW, your hubby sounds like a gem. How nice of him to do that for the neighbor lady! You're both so thoughtful.

Carol Sue, have they checked your potassium? I was put on a diuretic once and pee'd out all my potassium and started having premature ventricular contractions and they kept me in the ER all night on a heart monitor while they tried to get my potassium back up. I still have them if I drink too much regular coffee.

Geez, ... talk about long winded! I bet everyone is sleeping by now! Ha! Sorry to those I missed. Catch ya all later. Have a great day. ..... Carbie

Just got home from PT and resting a bit. My PT session was only 1 1/2 hours day..since I have no pain they skipped the ice pack and electrodes. When I was on the ball, they left me alone and I fell off! Scared me more than anything because I thought I knocked something over but guess I didn't, just shook things a bit I guess. I just started falling and couldn't stop. I mean, it's not like it's much of a fall to the ground but I'm not as flexible at my age and later I realized my rt thumb hurt and on the way home realized my the back of my right hand was sore. Funny those two places ...guess I must have caught myself with that hand or something. Once at the gym I fell off the treadmill...guess if it can happen, I will do it. I kind of like the big ball though and there is a lot you can do with it (besides falling!).

I slept pretty good last night. I think maybe it was going back to my mochas after several weeks without and having two in the evenings. Other than them I don't usually get much caffeine (only a little in occasional chocolate or diet sodas) so perhaps I'm sensitive to it. So now I'm limited them to only am or early afternoons.

Carbie - Glad you made it home safely on Thanksgiving! I'm glad I stayed out of the Black Friday shopping. I don't care much for shopping these days. I think for Christmas, dh and I are going shopping together and just buying what we want this year. We've done that before and it's kinda fun to do it that way now and then. The mint hot chocolate sounds good! I love hot chocolate and I use the Nestley milk chocolate (80 cal?) and about 1 carb serv. So not too bad but recently my gs was wanting marshmellows so I bought some for him and guess who's been topping off her hot chocolate with them...so more carbs! I tend to do it in the evenings so my am bs is always high.

Donna - Oh, I hope you get your Christmas present! (relief of pain!). Pain is so difficult and seems like you've had more than your share. Glad you had a good Thanksgiving meal.

Cajun - I go through those times with dieting...just don't care. That's why I've never been able to get and keep the weight off. But at least I keep trying even if rather sporadically and I figure I'm healthier for it. Even now I'm still getting too many carbs in the evening. Think my calories aren't too bad but I should drop them in order to lose more. I'm basically stable in the lower part of my usual range. Today my bs was high in the morning but after breakfast and exercise it was good. Exercise really helps, and most of my meals are fine. I just need to eat fewer carbs in the evening. This morning I had a big breakfast but my carb count wasn't bad...I had a scrambled egg with mushrooms and tomato plus a tiny bit of hash browns and one sl bacon. Then I added a mocha frappe. So many more calories than I usually get but I felt so nice and full and it held me quite a while. At the gym I only did my 30 min of cardiovascular because I had to get to PT. If I don't have much time I always focus on cardio.

Rosey - LOVE, LOVE your pictures!!

Donna ~ I tried to see your Thanksgiving card, but it said I couldn't until I updated my flash player. I didn't get a chance to ask DH for help (afraid to try that stuff myself ~ afriad I will mess something up) and then I forgot until you mentioned it. You'll have to forgive me ~ CRS ~ LOL.

Good morning goldies,
House is decorated. Now if I can make myself wrap all the gifts in my closet. We are an outdoor family that loves hunting fishing camping. I took some of the horns we killed and put them in my tree. Most of my ornaments are camouflage cork santas hunter santas fishing santas 4 wheeler santas. Lol. I put my pretty ornaments in the back. So I basically have a outdoor hunting and fishing Xmas tree. It is really cute. Wish I could take a pic. But I can't on iPad.
My back is getting better. I guess it was a pulled muscle.
Last night after work I ran to the dollar store to get a string of lights. After I left there I called the local store here to order me a hamburger( my weakness). She said there are several people to order ahead of you please be patient. She connected me and I thought hhmm maybe that's the Lord telling me not to. So I hung up. Left the dollar store and turned in mcdonalds. There was a long drive thru line. I got in line and waited. As it got my turn to order I thought hmm I listened to my message from the Lord and hung up then the devil took over again. Maybe I shouldn't. When it was my turn I pulled away from the line and went home. Pretty disappointed and proud at the same time. I heard my sisters words she said to me yesterday about the festival Saturday. She told me there is a place that makes awesome burgers and that I needed to do good this week to allow for that burger saturday. Lol that's what I did. But I still wanted that darn burger. Just thought I'd share. How many times does the Lord speak to us and we don't listen. Where it comes to food I think that devil has spoken and I listened a little too much.

Karenfl~ I hope this helps you. Does that pain medicine include advil motrin or tylonel?

Mary~ be careful on that ball lol

Carbi~ that man in your back yard was up to no good. That's a scary thing especially for someone living alone.

Donna~ I can't begin to tell you how thankful I was to have that young man with us. Such a blessing.

Hello to all I missed

Hugs
Cajun

Good Morning...a quick fly thru for me. I have to get quilt worked on for DD Christmas gift.
Rosey...wonderful pictures of you and family. Who's who in the pictures other than you and Steve?
Cajun...DH didn't get a deer yet, I saw one cross our yard yesterday around 6pm. A lone buck, DH was watching tv and missed seeing it.
Carbie...as to the color of your room, is it a bedroom? If it's a bedroom I would match up the paint with the bedspread. I don't do curtains, hate them. When we moved in here close to 30 years ago, the curtains came with the house. All heavy, dusty lined things...couldn't wait to dump them. We put in some expensive shades that exposes the whole window, lets in lots of sunshine. So I'm not much help to you in the department of curtains. P.S. How's the deer population in your area? DH is so frustrated because of sooooooo many no hunting signs in our area. He used to hunt over east by winona but the old guy died and the land was sold...new buyers don't let anyone hunt.
Karen...so sorry you're in pain, hope the surgery helps.
Cajun...we are out of deer burger, yesterday I purchased 10 pounds of beef burger at the store. A great price of $3.19 per pound for 85% lean. Last night I made hamburgers out of some, had to blot out the grease on a paper towel...yuk!. I'd forgotten how greasy hamburger is, give me venison anyday.
Gayle...flash player is easy to install, you won't mess anything up. Go for it!
Mary...have you tried natural herbs or melatonin before bed, we use it every night and it works great.
Donna...my lemon tree has lost most of it's leaves, it does look like Charlie Brown's tree. Nice to hear from you, I don't do Facebook much....only to play some scrabble games so I don't get caught up on the gabbing.
Sorry if I missed anyone...I really have to get started downstairs.

Bobbi~ I would hate to add up what our deer burger cost us. Hunting dues, bullets, license, 4 wheeler, hunting gear, gas, tree stands ect. The list goes on. There was a joke I heard one time that deer meant coat 543.20 per pound. Woulldnt be surprised. Then we all hunt so multiply that x 4. Lol.

hi all...aaaaaaaaarrrg...early this morning heard the phone announce that it was the hospital(scheduling) and I got up out of my chair and it ate me. I ended up on the floor with my feet under the bed, head and shoulders on the foot thingy and pillows and blankets poured on top of me and DH with the phone trying to hand it to me....I COULD NOT get up. No way get on my knees and up. The lady is asking questions and I'm on the floor. Fanny waving in the air and nothing to pull me up with...I finaly literally push my self up with right leg. Noooooow oh boy am I tightening up. I got up because I sure didn't want strangers seeing me so pathetic. Hunky EMTs or what!!!!!

Ordered Christmas fruit for family and friends today. Trying something brand new. My favorite are Honey Bells which are picked in Jan and a cross between mandarine and grape fruit and super sweet, New ones are called Sweet Bells and are only available mid Dec to mid Jan. They are a cross between Honey Bell and Clementines. Supposed to be even sweeter and easy peeling. They call it zipper skin.

Neat email this morning from amazon.com with listing DS's book as a Christmas gift (along with others).

Sorry I just can't do personals. Read everything and have tons of remarks but sitting here is hard. I'll try Saturday, k3
