Hey all I just have a Thanksgiving story to share. I have been married to George for 54 years and have been known to pitch a rightous glitch about him, but sometimes he floors me. Just floors me flat! This afternoon he asked if I thought our elderly neighbor who lost her husband this Spring was having Thanksgiving dinner. I called and offered her a plate which he delivered.....his smeller/nose noted no food odors in her kitchen. He stayed to chatted with her a while. The sweet kindness just blew me away! Guess thats why we stay not only married but friends, too. k3
Hope everyone pigged out like me...we need to stick together on Thanksgiving. I had a normal slice of lemon meringue pie and 1/2 slice of pumpkin pie. Yummy! It was nice having it at one of my sisters, no work involved.
K3 ~ what Bobbi said ~ he's a keeper. What a sweet man. And thank you for sharing. It is so nice to hear these kind of stories ~ of people's kindness to others. Wish the news would tell more things like this instead of all the negative stuff they do report.

Karen3 - I just love your dancing turkeys!!! And kudos to DH for taking dinner to the elderly neighbor. That is very heartwarming.
Dee - My "palpitations" use to be if I went over 2 MPH on my treadmill. A fluttering feeling in my chest, and my heart rate would shoot up instantly from 80 bpm to 140 bpm. A week or so ago I started getting them while lying in bed, and my heart rate was dancing all over the place. I am tracking them with the heart monitor for the cardiologist, but when he looks at the results he says that I'm getting extra beats but it looks OK. I'm not sure what that means. In the meantime, the PCP put me on synthroid because my TSH was 6.4. He only gave me .25mg to start out, but in the past 2 days I have been taking it I have not had the palpitations. I hope this is not just a coincidence because I hate the feeling of those flutterings and can't sleep when I'm having them, which us usually all night. I hope the thyroid was causing them and the meds take care of it. So far,the cardiologist doesn't know about the thyroid problem and the PCP doesn't know about the palpitations, so I don't know if there's a connection.
Bobbi - We went to my MIL's for every holiday until she passed away a few years ago at 85. DH was so tired of getting up and getting ready and going out every holiday that he said from now on we are staying home for the holidays. If anyone wants to come, fine. So that's how we started having it at our house all the time. I don't mind, because even when we went to my MIL's I still cooked a turkey/ham for us. If we're having company, I just buy a bigger turkey/ham and throw in a few more potatoes, etc. The big difference is I have to make sure my house is cleaned from top to bottom since company is coming, and that's one way to make sure my house gets a good cleaning at least once a year! LOL
Hope everyone had a great holiday with friends and family. My brother was snickering at me when we were washing up the dishes after our meal. My sister had a huge ham with lots of yummy juices in the pan and another pan that held the turkey with juices. She used some of the juice for the turkey gravy, the rest she threw in with the ham juices, walked out to the field and DUMPED IT ALL. Geeeezzzzzzz, I told her to save it for soups! She told me she doesn't cook anymore since she lives alone. Bruce got permission to hunt in a woods just up our road, I dropped him off this morning. He said to pick him back up around 5 this afternoon............brrrrrr, it's only 9 degrees out. I don't know how anyone could enjoy sitting in a woods all day quiet as a mouse in that kind of weather. We have a couple coming back for the 3rd time to look at our house at 11 today. They did give us an offer but it was $15,000 less than we're asking. We just took a loan out for $14,000 to put the new septic system in, we'll hold out until we get what we want. I'm not going to sacrifice our lifestyle to accommodate the buyers. Carol Sue...that's a good way to get your house sparkling from top to bottom, holiday guests.
I need to go tidy up so everything looks good for the house inspection.
Later gators.
P.S. K3, my poor lemon plant is losing leaves like crazy, I counted 18 this morning. I don't know if I let it get too dry or overwatered it.????
Morning..just fly by....Bobbi Lemon trees are super sensitive to chills. They can stand wet feet but really react to cold. Makes sense thinking hurricanes and then cold fronts down here.....We are actually too far North for good luck with lemons and everyone was amazed at our hugh tree which the frost finally killed. Give it extra light....I put my baby under a standing lamp. k3
Hello everyone...couldn't sleep tonight...my mine kept thinking of all I need to do for Christmas (already!) and other things. Continue to do the PT/exercise thing I described in my last message. The PT says I have to do these exercises forever. Wasn't too excited to hear that but I will do them as long as I can. I don't want anymore of those very painful episodes.
I think I found out tonight that the glucose meter I have been using for a long time is not working right. Guess that's why I got the 6.8 A1C at the doctor's office...couldn't understand since my numbers have been so high at home. Tried my dh's today and it was quite a bit lower and tonight I pulled out another meter I have and it was about the same amount lower, so that made me feel good! I didn't have any testing solution for this particular machine but it was an old machine.
With Christmas and planning for a trip, I feel very busy. I have a lot to get done this month and arrangements to make with family etc. So I am starting a little earlier than usual in buying/sending. As usual I will shop for the smaller gc online ..and recently I won a $75 GC for Amazon which will really help! So far I have bought 4 gifts. I'm doing what I did last year...everyone I have to mail to that is 13 or older will get cash and the ones younger than 13 I will shop for online so they will be shipped directly from the website. No standing in line at the PO for me! Then I will shop in the stores for those few who are nearby. So much easier...doubt I'll ever go back to the way I used to do it.
Karen3 - Love your dh's kindness! I too am blessed with a wonderful caring man and these days esp I cherish every day I have with him. I've loved him a very long time but I love him more than ever now that we are growing old together and I can't bear the thought of one day not having him with me.
Mary...I hear ya, same here. (We've been married 47 years) How sad it is that we now live in a throw away nation where divorces are so easy to get. In some cases very necessary as in some of the golden girls here. My daughter has been married twice and divorced twice. The first marriage was a keeper for her but the grass was greener on the other side. Her 2nd marriage we encouraged her to get rid of the a$$.

Sounds like the couple wanting our house fell thru Have a skinny day, work off those calories.
Had a nice Thanksgiving ~ didn't do too badly with the food. Dished mine up on a salad plate ~ just took a little bit of the things I really liked. Had dessert too, but small pieces.
Did the same with the left overs ~ salad plate. Had a couple turkey sandwiches for lunches ~ yum.
The weekend at work was quiet don't want to say it too loud and jinx something. Spent my time dusting and cleaning. The inspectors are due early December. Trouble is ~ darn dust will come back before then. I don't mind doing it if there is time, but time like there was this weekend is RARE. Sorry, but on a regular day, there other things that are higher on the list of priorities than dust.
Hello all
Thanksgiving was great. Food was sooo good. I ate lots of turkey and a little bit of some other things but I ate all desserts. My weekness. Weigh in is tomorrow. Hope I didn't gain too much. We camped this weekend and I didn't do so well there either. Dh killed a 6point whitetail deer last week. Tonight I'm making deer chili. Oldest son is taking a test today for him to start clinicsls for his RN. Youngest son is liking his job so far. Dh and I left the camp early yesterday morning and went Christmas shopping. I'm done completely. I have food to buy for the holidays. I think I will start preparing something's and freezing. My iPad broke and I'm typing on I phone. It's hard to type alot. I keep losing it. I will get to personals when I get it fixed.
Hi all....Still hobbling around. Have the MRI tomorrow morning and will take to MD later this week. Took Dh's Jeep for detailing this mrning. It looks like a new truck. Too funny he washed it earlier today before I took it. They vaccumed 10 yrs of dog hair out and scraped years of dog boogers off the windows and even cleaned the inside of the headlights.
DD sent jar of homemade candied pecans made with Stevia. Really good but not really diet friendly.
Need to get leg up...played bridge and the ups/downs kill me.....k3
Hey, hey! Nothing going on here, will work on DD's quilt today. I made a large pork loin roast on Sunday, had leftovers last night. Still some left...I'm wondering why pork is so cheap and beef so high. Cajun...DH still hasn't bagged a deer, going out again today. It's gun powder only for the next two weeks, we see a doe and buck across the field from us but always gone in the morning. A car hit one down the road from us, too bad they didn't take the deer for processing. Have a good one.
Good morning goldies
Today is weigh in day and I have a 2 lb gain. That's not bad considering the food I consumed over the holiday weekend. We woke up to rain early this morning. It was much needed. Supposed to turn cool for a few days. Dh is invited on a deer hunting trip with one of his customers. They leave Wednesday and return Sunday. So I guess it's no packing for the camp this weekend. Maybe I'll put up Xmas tree and decorations. I'm also invited Saturday to a Xmas festival with parade and lights , firework show and arts and crafts. It's in north Louisiana. My sister and my niece are going. I went last year. Beautiful and fun. Maybe it will put me in the Xmas mood. Work calls as usual. Gotta go.
I've had a pretty good day off. Dentist appointment for cleaning. Got a couple more people's Christmas gifts taken care of. Laundry done, lunches packed. Worked a little on the Christmas scrub attachment ~ need to get some snaps to finish it.
Had fun snazzing up my cane. (Don't need it for walking yet, but for going up and down my DD Sara's front steps. She has no railings and I am so afraid of falling ~ so I got a cane to make me feel more secure.) I have a blue one. Didn't want to spend the extra money for one of the pretty ones. I covered it with some contact paper to pretty it up. It had ~ over time ~ gotten kind of scuffed up. My niece decorated her little girl's room with some duck tape with a cool design on it. So, I had been seeing it in the stores and found some that was purple zebra striped. Love it.
Only wrinkle in the day is my head is starting to twinge with the beginings of a headache again. I had one most all of yesterday at work. Grrrrrr. I take stuff, and sometimes it helps and other times, no matter what I do, it won't go away. Thankfully it was gone this am when I woke up, so I was able to go about my day, get some stuff done and enjoy my day off. And thankfully, even though I had one, they are no where near as bad as the ones I used to have.
Back to work tomorrow. Three days then off the weekend. Yippee.
