Quick Good Morning, All... almost time to get breakfast, get the lard lathered, and heigh off to the saltmines!
Rosey - good thoughts continue! Where is the hospital (town?) and are you staying there or in a motel or is it close enough that you can commute? Is your friend conscious? You're a good friend! How is Steve doing? Did your SIL get the job? Isabella - that church and your friends would be lost without you! You're such a giver! I like that about you (as well as your fantastic sense of humor!). KarenFL - hope you and your computer are both better! Freda - glad you're better, too! Rie - when is the next trip? And is this the Las Vegas bash? Rest up! You're sounding pretty pooped. I wonder how SS/Zoe is doing with her retirement? Everyone, have a lovely day! Later, lovelies! |
It sounds like everyone is having a good day! I have kind of a busy day planned, first taking the girls over to get their hair done! Shoot, I don't ever get mine done but I spend $30 each for them to have theirs done! Love them furbabies!! Going to do some looking around for things that we are still needing since we will be over in Carthage where we moved from. But that groomer does such a good job it is worth the drive over. So will check out Walmart, Lowes and maybe even have some lunch while we are out.
I need to get going now though or I will be late and that wouldn't be good. Everyone have a great day and I'll get back later. |

You did NOT get it wrong. I just forgot about the "dance" part. It is an event for alumni of the graduate program that I started when I used to work at that college. They are supposed to have a big white tent out on the lawn of the campus & have hors d'oeuvres & a band. Hopefully, the weather will get nicer. The event is tomorrow & it is kind of damp and rainy here today. Lynn |

It is scheduled for Mother's day - not sure when that is. Lynn |

I lost a deer friend in the same manner last summer. However, we had a hard time convincing the hospital to honor her written request (stored at that hospital) for "no heroic measures." Ultimately, her daughter had to threaten to sue them before they would remove her from life support. Lynn |
Hello everyone! :D Got home from the gym about an hour ago and I've been resting and having my morning snack. Need to get to work soon though. It's a quiet cloudy wet day. Dh is going to a friends to help him move some things so I'm on my own.
Rosey - I too have been wondering how you are doing it...how far is the hospital from where you live? I picture your house as being very remote from town. I'm glad you are able to be there for her, and I'm sure you are a help to the family as well, but do take care of yourself too. Lynn - Have fun at the dance! I doubt I know how to dance anymore it's been so long. Never was very good at it, dh was the dancer. Karen31 - You treat those doggies too well! As I think I've said before, if I were a dog I'd want to be one of yours and get all that attention! :D I need a hair cut too. Bobbi - I know the name Chuck Swindahl and think I have even heard him long ago but I can't for the life of me remember what he looks like or how he sounds now. I don't normally listen to that kind of program here at home, but when we visit my brother and sil in MO, they always watch the 700 Club..or some Christian TV program and that's the only time I watch them. Debbie/Karen3 (and someone else?) - I too was disappointed in the Biggest Loser this season, esp with those walking off. Afterall they signed the contract. I would think they'd want to stick it out for the possiblity of winning. I did think Jeremy looked nice though. I thought Kim would be the winner so was surprised. I also thought Emily looked very nice. When I first saw her I knew she would be really beautiful when she slimmed down. I too watch Survivor. IMHO, this has not been the best season for it either, but right now I'm rooting for Kim. How about Amazing Race, anyone watch that? I was disappointed that my favorite couple Mark & Bopper was eliminated last time. The two female federal agents were also favorites and I was sad to see them go too. I like people who don't fight with their partner! Right now I'm rooting for Dave & Rachel but I don't like their bickering. |
Hello GG's
1 day past my nose surgery. lol Its 4 stitches, and IM doing really well. Its really not a problem. Somehow last evening i wanted sugar, and i got it. apx 1500 calories worth. I did that in less then an hour. That with my already eaten 1000 calories really blew my numbers our of sinc. Good thing it doesen't happen often. Back on track today! I do hope all are well, and eating and moving! deb |
My blood pressure was much better today. I sat back in the chair and really relaxed quietly before she took it. I think it has to do with her tecnique. I have my own blood pressure machine that I use and also I check it on those machines in WalMart and KMart, but the way the nurses do it manually is supposed to be the most reliable. I am very relieved that I don't have to get more meds for it.
Freda/Isabella - I am a pretty good judge of how much food I need per person, then I add a little for good measure. DH doesn't trust my judgment and makes me make extra. That's how I end up sending so many leftovers home. LOL Karen3 - I always have a chronic cough......worse at times than others due to allergies. I have had people ask to be moved to another table in restaurants when they were sitting near me, especially during flu season. I am such a bad person.....there have been times in a crowded room that I have faked a cough to get people to move away and give us more room. LOL |
Mary I was so hoping Kim would win, but she ran out of weight to lose. I was very happy with the At home prize, HE worked very hard, you could see it. Conda IMHO should of been ditched a long time ago.
Survivor, Hubby and i love that show, and i do hope a girl wins. I love how they ditched all the men. deb |

Just a quick post before I try to find something to fix for supper that sound good! Both the girls got "foo-fooed" today and they look and smell so nice! I don't think it will be long though before the ribbons are gone! But they do look so nice I think. Spent the afternoon just looking at stuff. We went to a indoor fleamarket and looked and looked!!! So much stuff!! I have already decided that we really need to have a garage sale... just hate to have to try to put it all together-- I think I would rather just post it on craigslist as I come to it.
OK Hope everyone has had a good day. Be back later. |
I'm full of funeral food. It seems as if everyone who came to the service brought copious amounts of food. What a spread and what left-overs that everyone left behind for those of us cleaning up. My friend (the non-baker) went home with enough sweets to put her in a diabetic coma every day for a month. She's quite quick to tell me she doesn't eat many sweets-HA! She probably has more sugar in her blood stream than blood. I ate most of the stuff when I got home and could relax. Lately I've been having small suppers but tonight I feel quite full. Oh, well tomorrow`s a clean slate.
Bobbi, I know who Chuck Swindoll is. I get his broadcast on a Christian radio station but I don`t listen to him on any regular basis but a few times a month, probably. He`s a good speaker. Rie, hope your day is not as long today. Those long days can really wear on a body. Rosey, how are you holding up? You must be very tired. Freda, there was enough food for another funeral. I'm glad your feeling better. Nothing worse than being sick and having to go out. Now you can enjoy the grand kids' activities. Oh, Donna, you're so sweet to say those nice things. I love your sense of humor as well. Hope the saltmines weren't too horrible today. Lynn, here's hoping your day tomorrow will be rain and chill free. :crossed: Mary, your day sounds nice and peaceful. I'd like to get a nice quiet day to myself. Debbie, so glad you're feeling so well after the surgery. I guess we can call you a "sweet" thing after your sugar attack. Ah, we've all been there with some food or other. Carol Sue, I'm pretty good a judging how much food is needed and then I start to over think the portions and what about if 20 extra people show up and what about if no one has eaten since breakfast and so on and so on....Good thing we all like left overs. If I'm asked to bring sandwiches I'll do that and throw in a plate of cookies, maybe a cake and then probably one more thing for good measure. I just like cooking and baking, lol. Well, I don't know what I'm going to do with myself tomorrow with no funeral to cook or bake for. Maybe, I'll clean the house. That should be a nice change. (NOT) Oh, well, it must be done once in a while and the house looks so nice clean and shiny. I usually give the place a good going over when I'm mad at DH. I wonder what I can blame him for tonight to get me in a good cleaning mood. Take care. I'll catch you all later. |

I hate to say (because I feel like I should be doing more productive things), but I watch ALL of these shows + a zillion more. The two shows that are actually better this year are The Voice & American Idol. Everyone of the singers left are fantastic. I know people who know about music do not like the big production numbers, but I love them. Do you watch SMASH? I LOVE LOVE LOVE this show (undoubtedly it will be gone next year). Any show I love gets taken off the air. Lynn |
Hi everyone. my friend passed late this afternoon. i was releaved becuz she was suffering. it broke my heart to see her like that. she is in abetter place now. and yes i'm tired but was glad i could be there for her family. thxs for being there for me. rosey
|
I'm so sorry Rosey--- thoughts and prayers are with you and the family
|
Sorry Rosey for the loss of your friend. I'm glad you were able to be there with her. You are an awesome friend. Thoughts and prayers for you and the family.

Hi all!
Well, it is almost 10 pm and my day is just finishing. I was home briefly for supper and then off to a meeting. I am organizing a family reunion and I met with some of my cousins tonight to get a plan. They were amazed at seeing me because some of them haven't seen me for a year. That part was fun. Rosey, I am so sorry for your loss. As always, you are there to comfort people. I know that your presence meant so much to her. Caddyk, the girls look wonderful. Lynn, the dance sounds wonderful. I hope the weather clears. Freda, my trip is next week. I will be out fishing the Big Horn River with Kenny and Sean on saturday. The Big Horn is a very famous trout stream. It is supposed to be a little cold but I hope that the weather holds. We will be floating in a drift boat. Donna, I leave for Nationals in Vegas on Wednesday. I am excited and I have been getting in at least an hour of practice every day. Mary, I often feel out of touch because everyone is talking about the popular shows and I rarely watch network tv.:?: Isabella, I used to just dread when my mom got mad at my dad because it would be the horrendous cleaning day! :D Debbie, I actually heard people at work talking about survivor and the guys were grousing about why the girls convinced the guys on the show to to without them. Women are smarter. ;) Carol, so glad that your bp is holding. I know that I am missing lots of people, but i am tired. good night! Rie |
I've watched BL since the beginning. The past couple years, I only watch the end of the show to see the weigh-in and see who goes home. This year, I thought Jeremy was acting like a baby when he got so upset when he lost the weigh in. That's how the game goes. It's not always fair. I have seen many people sent home because someone didn't like them. Everyone has a bad week now and then. Many didn't like Conda, but she just lucked out and lost enough each week to avoid the yellow line. Actually, Jeremy did lose the highest percentage and therefore deserved to win. I hope he keeps going and keeps it off. That's the hardest part. I liked it at the end when Kim said "We both won!"
|
Carol Sue, I'm glad the epilating later was easier this time. I noticed it was easier the second time. My legs are going to get it this weekend. Probably tonight.
Mary, you always have the beautiful coast close for vacations. And Mt Olympia national park is so amazing. Debbie, glad the dr got it all. Just protect that skin while you're on your amazing beaches. KarenFL, glad you're BP is better. Nasty colds are such a pain. Donna, betcha the zombie feeling at work was more to your body healing your hand rather than being a crone. Isabella, funeral soup  Bet you can now make it in your sleep. BTW, I plan to kick the bucket in your town. Clearly you and your friends put on quite a spread. Rie, at the idea of a computer virus causing a cold virus or vice verse. Kick a$$ at the Vegas tourney. If it was in Reno I'd come down to cheer you on in person. :carrot: Rosey, a big  from me. I'm so sorry about your loss. Freda, glad the bug is gone. Apparently stay away from computers when you have a virus or you'll have a new laptop like KarenFL. KarenMO, the fur babies go to the stylist but you don't. I’m finally caught up. I returned to work FT this week and life is just so much more hectic when I’m not telecommuting. Could be the half hour each way commuting time that goofs me up. But I’m caught up because Kai had a seizure at 4:00 this morning. And once again, Thank You, KarenFL on the advice to close her eyes and put gentle pressure on them. The seizure was mild in comparison to many. But since I was up so early and knew she’d pace and be restless for at least an hour, I decided to elliptical so now I don’t have to do so after work. So I ellipticalled and read 3FC. I typed all my personals on the iPad as I exercised. They typos were quite funny. Miss Kai paced and rested on a doggie bed or on the treadmill. Resting on the treadmill is her fave place while I use the elliptical. It really is cute. Tomorrow I’m going with 2 women over the mountain shopping. A girls day out, I was told. I’m looking forward to it. Both are the tattoo friends and my DD asked me if I’m getting another tattoo. I’m pretty sure not. Of course, who knows tomorrow. DD told me what type of tat she’d get if she ever decided on it. And she now has her eye surgery scheduled for June 17th (I think). Since I’ve missed so much work, DH is going to go to Reno and stay with her. He’s such a good guy. Of course, he plans to visit a few junk yards. His idea of fun. Definitely not mine. Have a great Friday everyone.Marie |
VERY quick drive-by...
Rosey - I'm so sorry about your friend! You were a good friend to her, and I know she knew you loved her. My condolences on your loss. Marie - you sound perky and back to normal! So glad Kai is doing okay.... wet kisses to Beloved from Sam. So scary, yes? BTW, SS/Zoe said she's doing her VT gig and is enjoying her semi-retirement! Everyone is so busy! Gotta roll.... have to get ready for work... have a good one, everyone! Later, lovelies! |
Rosey...I'm so sorry about your friend and yes, she's in a better place. You'll always have your memories you shared together.
|
Hi Rosey,
My best wishes are with you at this sad time. Lynn |
Well, I fell into the pit of funeral food yesterday so today I pay penance by eating small portions. The scales were up this morning to goad me on to a higher plane of goodness than yesterday's decent into the dark abyss of food induced surges of serotonin. :D
I didn't have to cook dinner today as we had enough Funeral Soup left over for 2 servings along with a few left overs from yesterday's dinner that I hashed up on the frying pan. DH is so easy to feed. :) Marie, you may kick the bucket in my town if you wish. But of course you must realize I may have to skip that event as I'll be much too old by then to make a good pot of soup and may have had one served at my own funeral by then. I'll leave the recipe to some trusted younger friend so your family can be well fed. :D Lynn & Carol Sue, I used to watch several reality shows but kind of lost interest. TBL comes on late here and I always fall asleep watching it and never see the weigh in. The one reality show I do like is The Apprentice, not because I like Donald Trump but I like the play. The Celebrity Apprentice is not as good but I watch that now and then, too. Rosey, my deepest condolences to you and your friend's family. You are a good friend. Rie, hope I didn't resurrect too many bad memories of hysterical cleaning in your childhood. DH was spared and went to bed totally unaware of the cleaning that may take place. He just went back to work without a cross word between us so the cleaning may get delayed. Hahahaha. I did, however, get up early and clean the church. DH dropped in and washed the basement floor. Everything smells of lemon and bleach. Karen31, somehow I missed your post with the pretty doggies. They look lovely. The rest of you Gals have a good day and I'll catch you all later. |
Good morning! Just a quick post. going to get some lunch and then on to pick up the 5th wheel we bought.
Marie, so sorry that Kai had another seizure. They are so scary. Ginger and Sissy send Hugs. Got the Wii out since I have a bedroom set up now where I think I will be able to use it. Have the batteries on the charger now. Not sure how accurate the balance board will be now since it is sitting on carpet. May have to go and invest in new scales. I am one that just has to see the numbers pretty regular. Also talked Tim into going and looking at an electric lawnmower... I really don't mind mowing but I hate using the gas mower.... so usually Tim does it but I think I would really like to do it. I know I used to and it is some good exercise too. The guy is supposed to call us back-- he has Black and Decker 19" electric mower for $50.. I know call me crazy!! Have a good day and will catch y'all later. |
Hi GG's,
I started this post this morning and I lost it. I just got frustrated and quit, but i'm back again. When I went to Kenzie's soccer game Monday I was wearing a winter coat and gloves and hat and wrapped in a heavy blanket and wore winter boots. And still froze. Yesterday we went to DGS's first tract meet and I got a sunburn. Didn't even think about taking lotion. Rosie, so sorry to hear about your friend. I know you will miss her. Marie, I was getting worried about you! We hadn't heard from you in a bit and I'm such a worry wart. But I knew you had just went back to work and was probably swamped. Sorry to hear that your darling Kai had another seizure. Rie, Have fun fishing. I love trout. And family reunions. so important to stay close with family. Karen, the girls are looking good. they look like little fluffy dust mops. You can just let them run around and clean your wood floors. Lynn, I always say that if I really like a show it's the kiss of death for it. It always gets axed. Carol Sue, Glad that the BP is looking better. I do the same thing when I'm cooking for a crowd. I make the dinner and them I keep adding things to it, untill I end up with enough for an army. It comes from my mom worrying that there wouldn't be enough. Isabella, Every day is a new beginning. we all mess up. the important thing is to make sure it's just one day. It's easy to over eat with so much stuff around that you don't normally have. And what, exactally, is your funeral soup? Deb, glad to hear that you are doing well with the nose surgery. And as far as the over eating, read above. Got to go for a walk before it starts raining. Have a good day, Freda |
Howdy all...Both of us are still hacking and blowing. Can't blame each other as we came down at the same time....yuck
New pc is driving me insane and get something up and running and then can't figure out what happened to something else. I can not find the web page for our Wed game....just checking to prove am still here well sorta...k3 PS Oh Rosey, I'm so sorry you lost your friend. Love hurts sometime. k |

Hi Goldens!
Well, I am in the midst of my trip preparations. I got my hair highlighted today and picked up some shirts that will meet the dress code for the tournament. Players must wear a shirt with a collar and I don't have any that would be good for playing. I also bought a new sun protective shirt for fishing. I am so looking forward to the trip tomorrow. Sean and Kenny are my favorite fishing buddies. I thought you might be interested in my pool practice as I am getting ready for the tourney. Every night I shoot 5 racks (75 balls total). Then, I pick a certain shot and I shoot that same shot for 3 racks (60 balls). That is my practice routine. It takes me about an hour and 15 minutes. Rosey, I am so glad that you took the comfort of your furry friends today. I lost my best friend a few years ago and it was so hard. I hope you find some comfort. Lynn, how are you? Is this a good group of students that you have this time? Marie, I fully expect to see a new tat or piercing tomorrow! You wild thing, you :D Donna, I think you were just recovering. You are sharp as a tack! Karenfl, what a great honor! I can't wait to read his book. Caddyk, still on the rv hunt in my world. I was tickled when we were talking about range of towns and the search. You get lots of options within 150 miles. I have to go at least 150 miles to reach another town.... ;) Zoe, I hope that you are back home from the vermont gig. Freda, I am glad that you are feeling better. I was laughing at the winter clothing and then the sunburn. We routinely use a heater and an air conditioner in the same day. Isabella, I also want to hear about what is in funeral soup. Carol, in farm culture, a good farm wife can feed any army or crew that shows up for the meal. I have always had a hard time cooking just for a couple. My ds is much better at judging portions. I know I am missing people but I am kind of fried. Last night I had coffee at the meeting and was awake most of the night. As we leave at 0530 in the morning, I hope that I sleep well tonight. Have a great Saturday. Rie |
Finally getting here...even though I've been online a lot today...I found a site called trippy.com and I got addicted to it. LOL It's like Pinterest only for travel. You can put pictures of places you've been or want to go and organize them into categories. Many may be there so I learned to search for them first and just click I've been or want to go in that case. I have put a lot of places in there I've been but there are a lot more places still I want to enter. I spent way too much time doing that today!
Went to the gym as usual and go a good workout. It's another cool, mostly cloudy (sun came out briefly at times), quiet day in the neighborhood. I put out a bunch of stuff, books, clothing and household items for ARC pickup. I finished up the laundry and did a little housework. Tonight I had a sm can of V-8 juice (original vegetable kind) for an appetizer.. dh grilled steaks and I made some hash browns (Simply Potatoes kind) and stir-fried some broccoli seasoned with a little soy sauce and lemon and I had 1/2 apple for dessert. Dh had a little wine with his meal. We decided next time we would just buy one steak and we will share it, we eat so little anymore. Both of us always end up putting 1/2 in the fridge. I try to use the leftovers (or dh does) but we do waste some. I buy organic meat and it is too expensive to waste! Rosey - Sorry about your friend. Glad you had these last few days with her and good memories. And congrats on the 2# loss but that's not a good way to do it. Karen3 - Too late for this time, but I use an online backup service to back up my computer files, so when I get a new computer I can just download the files again. Very helpful. If you don't want to back up a lot, many are free. I pay $5.99 a month with Mozy They may still have a free plan too. Just wasn't enough for me. I keep a lot on my computer. Freda - Sunburn? Amazing! It's going to be a while up here before I could get a sunburn! I still wear some light sunscreen in my moisturizer most days though. Karen3 - What's the name of your son's book? Having a writer in the family is pretty cool! I just found out that an acquaintance of mine has written a book. I tried to find it on Amazon today (she said it's there), but am going to have to get the name better I guess as I couldn't find it. Marie - Yes we enjoy the coast, both WA and OR. You reminded me I should put places on the coast and also Las Vegas in trippy.com. Thanks! Gotta run as dh calling. Have a good evening everyone! |
Good Morning...since we had such a mild winter, our Orioles and Hummingbirds are back early. May 1st we saw the first male Oriole. I'm on my second batch of sugar water, last nights storm swung all the juice out of both feeders.
Deb...glad the doc got it all and like someone else said, "lots of sun block". Lynn...remember when you told me to put a bar of Irish Spring soap in bed with me for charlie horses? I wrote the date on my calendar and updated it this morning with a 5:30 Charlie Horse in my right calf that woke me up. Ouch! I haven't had one for 40 days/nights. So I'll mark the calendar again with NO SOAP between the sheets and see how long I can go without the cramping in my calves/feet. That should give me some idea if it's an old wives tale or really works. Rie...why do you need collars on your shirts for the pool tournament? My mind is going wild thinking about it... no distraction of opponent looking at your boobs,? Does it have to be buttoned up? Good luck and that's a whole lot of practice. Mary...I've been using only 8 oz. of ground meat with TVP lately for our meals. The thought of pink slime got to me so I made and froze my own burger. I purchased a chuck roast and a family pack of pork chops. I cut all the fat off the beef roast and the pork chops, ground up the meat and mixed together in 8 oz package to freeze. Then I cook up some TVP with beef broth, mix it in the 8 oz thawed burger for some really good, fat free hamburgers. DH knows the TVP is in there but can't tell the difference. Have you ever used TVP? (It's textured vegetable protein for anybody that doesn't know) This frugal living really is a fun challenge. Quote:
Isabella...I'm thinking you probably use TVP since you don't eat meat. And BTW, you should be fat with all the church meals/funerals and baking you do. Rosey...congrats on the two pound loss.:carrot: Freda...we haven't been to soccer games yet this year, I'm not sure my gs is even playing. But the last game we went to last fall was cold too. Brrrrrrrrrr, I can still remember freezing my butt off but hanging in there anyway. The support we give our grand kids will never be forgotten by them so take comfort by that. Marie...sorry about Kai, hope the seizure don't hurt your sweetie. My mom had seizures years ago before they had meds for it and she used to get banged up a bit. Carol Sue...I'm with you on making lots of food. You can always send it home/freeze it or use it for future meals. But.....not much you can do if it's not enough. K2...what's happening with the critters in your yard, really gone? How does fried Armadillo taste? KarenMo...love the fluffy fur-babies new do. Donna...it dawned on me after replying to your last frugal email that it wasn't your granny that was frugal, I think it was Rie's granny. Sometimes I get really confused.:dizzy: I got a email from a friend that lives in British Colombia and it was all Maxine jokes. I should have pasted them on facebook like you. Hi to anyone I missed, I'm hungry and cold. I put jean shorts on and I need to change into long jeans..brrr |
Isabella, that is an excellent way to describe comfort eating. Dark abyss of food induced surges of serotonin. It is beyond a perfect description.
KarenMO, Kai appreciates Gingers and Sissy’s hugs. She is doing well now. She averages a seizure about every 8 weeks. The last time it had been 10 weeks, this time 6 weeks. So the average sticks but most of the time it is every 8 weeks. At that rate, she doesn’t have to be on meds. So I like that because she’s horrendous to give meds to. Doesn’t matter how much food you hide it in, she spits it out. Freda, cold then hot days are the definitions of spring. I hope the sunburn wasn’t bad. Love the idea that Sissy and Ginger clean Karen’s floors. My dogs just shed everywhere and track dirt in. I have a cool little plaque that says “A dog and its housekeeper live here”. KarenFL, how awesome that your son dedicated his book to you. That’s such a beautiful pat on the back. Rosey, :carrot: on the eradication of 2 more pounds. You are just amazing. Rie, I bet the highlights look awesome. Why, oh, why do you have to wear a shirt with a collar for the tournament. I never wear collar shirts. I hate them! Good job on getting a shirt to protect your skin while fishing and I hope you’re having a great time today. Catch lots and toss ‘em back. Fishies must swim. Mary, DH and I always share one steak. Very few places sell a 4 oz steak and that’s the recommended serving size. But then that would be tiny and if you’re going to splurge, I want more than a couple bites. We usually get a 12-14 oz steak and split it. Usually 1/3 and 2/3. DH still like to eat lots. Bobbi, we have quite a few Anna hummingbirds. I have two feeders up and have gone through their food several times. I saw one this morning and thought it was nuts to be out already. It’s only 27 degrees. Bet his wings were flying because he was trying to stay warm. I started a fire this morning because my house was cold. 70’s this afternoon. The swing of temps in the mountains is always amazing. I think I’m still going shopping with my friends. One is having trouble with her ex. Nothing new there but its involving her children as well. So it might get canceled. I’ll know later. Just gorking the early morning in front of the fireplace with my sleeping huskies. They’re all so darn cute. Marie |
Hi everyone! Dh & I did a funny/dumb thing today. We went to Costco to do our coupon shopping, bought a couple items and got lots of samples, checked out and then found out the coupons don't start until the 10th! We didn't need the items so we returned them on our way out. So we wasted time and ate all those samples for nothing! :D I hadn't had an am snack so didn't mind if I went a bit over and I was wanting a mocha so when I got home I made a 1/2 no-milk mocha. Guess that's another NSV as normally I might do without the milk but would have thought I had to have the full serving as it was very little, but it gave me the taste and I guess that's all I needed. Of course a healthier option would have been to have eaten some veggies as so far I haven't had any today. I did have a little fruit with breakfast.
Bobbie - Yes occasionally I do use TVP but not often as unfortunately we do notice the difference. Maybe it's just because I know it's there but dh doesn't know and will eat it but I can tell he doesn't like it as much. We don't eat much meat. I buy the best meat I can find and since we only buy a small amount it's not too bad dollar-wise but I don't like to waste it. I don't know how families do it. And it's even more important with children to buy organics as the younger one is the more damage is done by the bad things in our food. GFY making your own ground beef! I'm too lazy but I think it's better not to be so dependent on these companies for so much of our food. Interesting about the Irish Spring and your cramps. I often have very bad cramps. But with me, it's strange, but all my pains go in cycles. Right now it's my left leg that hurts (sciatica but fairly mild), other times it will be cramps, or back spasms etc. Thank God it doesn't all come at once! :-O Nice that you are getting the birds. I noticed yesterday that dh has put out his hummingbird feeder too. Marie - I measure everything and I eat a max of 3 oz meat at dinner. Dh eats about the same. The steaks last night were Delmonicos..kind of like filet mignons without bacon. I didn't weigh a whole one but guess one would have been about 8 oz since half was about 4 oz so I cut some off. To look at one you'd think it would not be enough to share but they are thick. Joe had to throw it back on the grill for me as it was a bit raw inside the first time, but it was very tender and good. In a restaurant I usually go for a 6-8 oz (if possible) and try to take some home. Before sometimes I'd eat it all though. Haven't gone to a steak house since I've gotten my "control." ;) Did you end up going shopping? Buy anything interesting? Nothing much to talk about ...hi to all I didn't mention. Hope you all have a good evening. Mary |
Hi Everyone,
The event at the college last night was very nice. Five of my former students were there and I LOVED getting to see them. Today, I went to south Jersey & took my friend with Alz out for a few hours. She seems about the same as the last time I saw her. Kind of cold, damp, and rainy here. I will check back here tomorrow. Lynn |

Hello everyone! Today was a real "gorking" day for me! Well, I did wash sheets on our bed but not much else!!
I had to laugh about using my girls as "dust mops" For one, they put out more hair then I can keep up with and two, the only rooms in our house that aren't carpeted are the kitchen, baths and laundry!! Wouldn't work to well there! But I have one of those H2O steam mops and I love it!! My kitchen is a wood Parquet floor and I can sweep it in no time and use the H2O mop and it just shines!! I don't use anything on the floor except water and it feels squeaky clean after I mop!! I don't have to mop, rinse and all that jazz anymore, really do love it! My sister and her hubby took their '56 Chevy to Dallas yesterday, their son in law is a minister and he is preaching a sermon on "Restoration" tomorrow so they thought since they worked so hard on restoring once before the tornado and then again now after, they would use it as a good visual aid! They had a good time traveling to Dallas with the oldies blasting on the radio!! KIDS!!! Actually they aren't kids anymore she is 49 and the baby of our family! Bobbi, I added a picture of the '56 they restored.. Really is pretty but after all the time and money they have invested-- I think I would have to "save" it for car shows!! Tomorrow we will have church and meet the rest of the family for lunch... our normal Sunday. Think we will be going back to Granny Schaffers... good food and good prices! Plus the family makes it real good company! Marie, sorry that Kai has the siezures that often. Ginger right now is only about every 6 months to a year, sometimes longer but it is always scary!! Freda, isn't the weather crazy!! One day heat is on and you are still cold, the next day you have the AC and you are still hot!! Couldn't be our age that is part of it--NAH!!! Donna, how is your hand? Is Sabrino really sorry? I guess he will be your outside furbaby! But that is OK too. Gayle, how are things at work? Did you make it through the week in the wardrobe change? Still think that was a wrong thing for them to do.. people in the hospital want to have a cheerful atmosphere around them--Hope things get better. Zoe, Hope things are going fantastic for you too. I've never been to Vermont but I hear that it is beautiful. We made a few trips to Maine when we lived back there and that was pretty. Rie, sounds like you had a chilly day but probably still really enjoyed it. Time away is always nice-- I think!!! Rosey, glad that you are feeling better. A loss of a friend is always hard. (((HUGS TO YOU))) Well, I didn't mean to make this a book and I know I still left people out but not meaning to. Hope everyone has a Wonderful Sunday.... Catch y'all tomorrow night |

Happy Sunday!
Today is a day to get a few things accomplished and do some pampering. Hair removal, skin care, deep condition hair, manicure and pedicure. Self care takes more work these days! LOL. I am also going to view a RV this morning. Hoping that I have found one for myself.:^: Rosey, I loved the idea of the teeny tiny ice cream things. We buy them for my little ds. I think you are right - sometimes we need ice cream - just not a pint! Karen31, I loved the pictures of the car! I have lots of friends who are into cars and it is just so much fun. Lynn, lovely that you could spend time with your friend. I always think that I need to do the right thing and treat people well - even if they can't understand or appreciate it. I am glad that the event went well and you enjoyed seeing your students. Mary, great NSV with the mocha. I was running around in Sams club the other day and I hadn't eaten lunch. The pizza and such smelled so good! It was hard to resist. Marie and others.... the BCA (national billiard congress of america) requires shirts with a fold over collar as part of the dress code. Also, no open toed shoes, torn clothing, or excessively revealing clothes. I think the fold over collar shirt is to prevent any t shirts from being worn, although they are trying to change the rule because some folks just toss a shirt on over a crappy t shirt. Typical wear is a polo type shirt. Bobbi, I don't care for the tvp but I always make my own hamburger. I grew up eating our own beef and I simply can't stand the taste of town beef. Sometimes I go to a local butcher who grinds his own. Absolutely worth it. Although, I eat very little hamburger these days. Donna, what are you, Samcat and gm doing this weekend? You had hail last night in Denver? Today is one of those lovely high mountain plain days. The sky is brilliant blue. I am off to buy my bedding plants but I will not put them in until I return from vegas. Freda, are you working this weekend because you have been off for a few days? I hope you are enjoying family time. K2, could you please post the name of your son's first book? I forgot and I would like to check it out? CarolSue, hope you are having a good weekend. Gayle, how are you doing? Any fun times with Maddie lately? Zoe, (semi retired) are you back from vermont? Have you been able to get out to the lake yet at all? Well, sorry if I missed anyone. Off to take care of errands and the beautification project. Hugs. Rie |
