Yes, KarenFL, I'd have to agree with Donna on snorting (my case laughing) about your post and Dash's conclusion that SamCat was Donna's lover in a former life. That is just to cool!

Okay, I’m sneaking a little time… I don’t really think they’d care, but I care!

Bobbi - Home Depot is supposed to deliver a little ice chest freezer to me on Saturday. I hope they don’t screw it up… sounds like you’re about to bomb them!

Gayle – you’re always so good about doing personals… now, what’s going on with YOU? And thank you for your continued good thoughts for Mr. SamCat. I think we’re definitely in Life #14. He’s perked up considerably, still hasn’t pooped, but he’s eating some now and is coming into the light. That hiding under the bed is always a concern, since I’m a chubby little rascal and haven’t figured out how to dig him out, if necessary.

Marie – you’re absolutely right, and I never would have thought that kindly of the surly appraiser. They can’t be chummy and charming, because someone would undoubtedly sue for something if the result wasn’t as hoped. People!

Oh, I hope all your furbabies also have extended leases on life! SamCat is still weak, so his kisses aren’t as energetic… but he puckered for BelovedKai, Kody, Sasha, Blizzie, and David.

PT/Zoe – thanks for the insight into your project. I didn’t know what exactly you were doing, and this is so interesting! I can see why you want to get into it and leave the day job far behind! And I so agree about the increasing vet bills! And we all put our furbabies before ourselves… If I’d put him down, they would have charged based on his peak weight, and the euthanasia/cremation would have been well over $100. I think that’s appalling! I asked my vet if the economy was hurting her business, and she laughed, said business has never been better. People do for their babies and cut corners on themselves, it’s true.

Rie – have a good trip and, yes, per PT/Zoe, take your Clinique!

KarenFL – I love the Egyptian Cat God and Dash’s conversation with her. I love SamCat devotedly, so maybe there is something to this!

I LOVE that your son has “people”… didn’t he do a little short stint as a turd? He’s certainly grown up well!

Lynn – good thoughts for your friend… so sad!

Everyone, that’s it! Hope you’re all well. It’s clouding up here, so I think we’ll have a bit more weather, but the WF assure us it won’t be much (heard THAT before!). I don’t care. Have a good Thursday! Later, Lovelies!

Whew! Made it through February. I went to the gyne this morning and got that out of the way. The home nurse said the holes seem to be improving by leaps and bounds.

Rie - I don't think you should be hurt that your mother gave you Clinique products. She is just trying to be nice to her daughter. Don't be offended. She loves you.

Annie - I am so sorry to hear of the tragedy involving your coworker. I just don't understand why people who are going to commit suicide have to kill their family members first. If you're not going to be around anyway, why not let them live their life?

Lynn - And I am so sorry to hear about your DF accident and diagnosis. That's terrible.

I read in the paper about a woman who was born on Feb 29 and gave birth to a child this year on Feb 29. I don't think it was a planned cecerian because it said she went into labor on the 28th but the child was not born until the 29th. Maybe she kept her legs crossed overnight so the baby could be born on her birthday!

Karenfla! (Home Depot delivery)
Samcat! (stopped batting dust motes from under the bed)
Carol Sue! (opening getting smaller)
Marie! (no scratched cornea)
Glynne! (letter from friend)
Annie (spring around corner)
Zoe (retirement around corner)
KarenMo (snotty appraisers)
Lynn (bad diagnoses)
Sorry, I'm pooped and need to chill. I zipped thru all the March posts but too tired to gab. We went shopping for upholstery material today, I'm going to re-do my mom's oak chair to match our new one. I must have pulled out a zillion finishing nails holding the old material. All in solid oak and hard to get out.

We woke up to snow (gone now) but the roads were clear and we had a wonderful visit with our son and his gf. They also got snow but very little although at the higher levels on the way we did see more, but the roads were clear all the way. His gf made a great Vietnamese/Filipino/Thai lunch for us which was very good. The ice cream was Thai and she made two flavors...mango and coconut. I esp liked the coconut. She is a very good cook and is usually able to copy any dish she tastes in a restaurant. I did not track my calories, counted carbs only very loosely and I feel very fat tonight!

I'm tired so won't do personals tonight.

Is it March already? I have been out of touch with all you fabulous ladies, so sorry.
We had zip zero nada no snow to speak of at all this winter. I feel short-changed. i really love the snow. I love the way my youngest and lastest dd plays all day running around with the neighborhood possie , watching her make snow forts, snow men, and watching her battle in snowball fights.

My oldest DD moved into her NYC apartment. I am bursting with pride for her. She is hard working, determined and she dumped her dead weight boyfriend.
Me, well I have been eating clean this whole month, (ha ha )
Tonight is Sabbath and we are having company so I have to mind my manners, my attitude and my calories.
can I do it? Yes I can.
Love to you all.

Good Morning GG's

Worked yesterday, and it wasn't a totally bad day. Who you work with makes all the difference. Ate fairly well, when I finally had time to eat. One of the patients brought in a huge basket filled with chips, cookies and stuff. I had a pack of baked cheetoes, so I think I did well. But the temptation was there! But, temptation is always around. Got to make choices. I had gotten a prescription for Ambien when I went to the Dr. I think I've mentioned that I don't sleep well. I slept last night!!! I'm not groggy this morning, just really rested. I know I can't take them every night, but to some when I need them is great!

Z, I remember when I left my last job to go to nursing school. I was a little hesitant, even though I knew I was making the best choice. It's always hard to change. You will do wonderful. And you can pick and choose your jobs now. Just take the ones that seem fun and challenging. "they" (whoever they are) always say not to make any big decisions the first year. Give yourself time to see what you want. We spend some much time working we don't really know ourselves.

Lucinda, Yeah for your daughter. Her mama taught her well. And good for you for eating well. Don't you feel so much better!

Mary, Homemade coconut ice cream? I know she was trying to impress you, but would you ask her if I can come to the next dinner?

Karenfl, Isn't it just so nice to have a washer and dryer in the house? When ours broke and I had to go to the laundramatt for awhile I found a whole new appreciation for mine. I had washed a few items by hands and it made me think about the time when women didn't have the convience and wash day was a major undertaking.

Hi Bobbi, Material? Are you reuholstering the kitchen chairs too? How about curtians? I know when you get done it will look awsome.

Carol Sue, Glad the holes are getting smaller. If that woman held our for a whole day so her child could be born on the same day as her, she must be some lady. When you start getting that urge to push, it would take a lot more than that for me!

Jess, Glad SAmCAt found another life. I've though I might like to get a small freezer but didn't think I would get enough stuff to put in it to make it worth while. I do like to buy the sales though. Just wonder if it would pay for it's self. Let me know... And after Karens comment, I know you're looking at Samcat in a whole new light..

Marie, Thinking about you and praying

Rosie, Saw the pictures of the snow. And while I don't mind snow, I think I might mind THAT much snow. It would be fun for the kids though.
do they keep the roads open?

Lynn, so sad to hear about your DF. Talk about adding insult to injury! She already had so much going on, she really did not need the new diagnosis.

Annie, I think some one else already mentioned that if you must kill yourself, just what gives you the right to take someone else along with you? But I try to remember that anyone in that state of mind is not thinking. What must be going through their mind I can't imagine. Poor babies who didn't even get a chance to make decisions on their own.

Gayle, I'm glad you got off on time for a change. Seems like those last hours are the absolute worst! Probably are, since something is going on tha makes it impossible to leave.

Karen, Glad the storms missed you. Seems like nature is really running amuck this year.

Hope evryone has a great day,

Freda

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday's lecture about Rodin was VERY interesting. The presenter demonstrated how Rodin used impressionistic methods to capture the essence of Michaelangelo's creations. I really like to learn about art and artists from scholars. It makes you change how you look at things.

I spoke with my DF's DD last night - my DF is home and the Neurologist at the hospital definitely thinks she has Parkinson's. Next step is to get her to her regular Neurologist and see if he agrees. Not sure how/if her treatment would change. I am almost frightened to go online to research this.

My DD & SIL left for Alaska this morning. They come back on St. Patrick's day. Today is some home maintenance stuff. Tomorrow is a genealogy conference and Sunday is the London play at the movies.

Have a great weekend,

Lynn

Freda...wrong house. We purchased a new living room chair for our house and I'm redoing my mom's old chair with new fabric. It's really a neat old chair with oak arms and legs. I'll post a picture. I've taken off most of the old floral pattern. I still have the arms to do, I'll replace the floral with a solid material to match our new chair.

Quick hola, All...

Bobbi - I love that old fashioned chair... so much prettier than the faux things we have now! The new fabric will be beautiful! And Charlie, peeking around the edge of the picture... too sweet!

SamCat seems to have rallied completely. He had disappeared when I got home last night, figured I'd find him when I smelled the body... however, he was hunkered down under the covers. This is new this winter; I guess the little guy is cold. Anyway, knock on Wood (my head hurts), we seem to be upright and fairly functional again.

Gotta run... I'm glad it's Friday. I'm pooped, although I did sleep well last night. I guess that makes sense?

Everyone, have a lovely Friday!

Good morning GG's,

Yippee ~ a day off today. Doing some puttery things. Got a little apron (premade ~ was less expensive than making it myself) for Maddie and letters that spell her name to attach. Apron for cooking at Grandma's. I had made one for Corbin when he was about her age. Have a little backpack for when I go somewhere and don't want to have to carry my purse, but need some stuff, and want my hands free ~ have decorated that with some cloth and gonna attach some letters to that as well.

Got some wall decorations hung, and a hook attached to a decoration that I had on the bedroom door so it wouldn't fall off again. Doing laundry.

Grrrr at my dr ~ trying to get my medicines straightened out ~ almost running out of them. The dr's office has made such a mess of things. Due to the company buyout, we have new health insurance and new mail away pharmacy. They sent part of the renewal information to the mail away place (CVS Caremark) and part of it (which was supposed to have also gone to the mail away place) to the local CVS. What a mess ~ DH has spent hours several days on the phone with the pharmacy and the dr's office trying to get it straightened out.

Ok, I'd better get back to work. Procrastinating here ~ unfortunately ~ I am good at that ~ too good.

Hope you all are having a good day.

Me too Mary, I am fat this morning. Back to counting calories today...the scale wasn't very nice today.

Hello Goldens!

My travel day went well despite some tight connection times at the airports. I am amazed at how much easier it is for me to get around. I just stride through the airports . I noticed a few morbidly obese people yesterday struggling through their trips and I felt sorry for them... I remember how hard that was.

Dgs grandson Gabriel remembered me and was so happy to see me. This is the first time that I haven't spent the first two days of a visit making friends with him. It was really lovely! We went out to a great asian fusion place last night and enjoyed sushi. (yes, in Grand Forks ND!) One other funny thing: I sat next to a guy "from philly" on the last leg of the trip and watching his reaction to the tiny airport was so funny! The idea that there was only one baggage claim and two gates just floored him!

Oh, and the clinique..... I did NOT bring it. Seriously, will I EVER outgrow the need to defy my mom?

Marie, I am thinking about you. Sorry about how expensive the medications are but your babies are worth it! I laughed at the howling while driving description.

Karenfl, like Donna, I have learned to refrain from eating or drinking while reading your hilarious posts. Yay on getting the washing machine...

Donna, so happy about SamCat. He is a regal being and graces your life. The weather fools were wrong here, also.

Lynn, so sorry about your friend! I guess there might be a blessing in the fact that she won't understand what is happening so much... I liked your description of the lecture. My dil is graduating with her MFA and I spent much of the pleasant evening listening to her descriptions of her teaching and interactions with her students. It is so great to watch her become a teacher as well as an artist.

Karenmo, I was glad that I was on facebook while the storm was happening so I knew that you were ok. Don't worry, appraisers are poopyheads by nature!

Gayle, yay! on turning down the candy bar. I still hate the fact that they are right there by the checkout. Grrr. They know what they are doing.

Bobbi, I love that chair. We have a similar one from my grandmother. I loved your personals too!

Mary, I want to come over for dinner also! I am so glad that you had a nice visit. And yes, eating is complicated for us.... Lots of days I wish that I only had to count calories.... But we get through it, right?

Annie, I am so sorry about your coworker. There is no rhyme or reason. What a tragedy.

Freda, glad that you rested. I take ambien 2 - 3 times per week and I have for a long time. Sleep matters! I am glad that you tried it.

Zoe, thanks for telling us about the project. Wow, what a great thing! I can see why you are excited and interested. I agree with Freda, though, part of the task of retirement is to explore, again, who we are. Don't fill up every moment, ok?

So sorry for the ones that I am missing..... I am out of time. DS just called me and they will be over here soon. Later!
