Hi Ladies ! :)
Karen when I was 13 I was allowed to get my ears pierced, and have nice earrings - your definitely not alone in that "rite of passage" while growing up.

Not much for news...my DH downloaded Explorer 9 onto the computer and I can't find anything, and the tool bar is gone and I am looking for a place to hide the body...grrrrr....anyone out there with acreage?, I have the shovel already!
Have a great day Ladies! :) :) :)

ps- WHY do men ALWAYS have to mess around with something that is working perfectly???? sigh....

jess1 05-12-2011 11:11 AM

Good Morning, All.....
It's raining here! I LOVE it! The WeatherFools suggested that we might have 2-3# of the white stuff this a.m., but, of course, they were wrong. It would have been all water, which would have been good. I'm happy with the rain and would SO love having a wet summer. Dream on...

I think DWTS is a guilty pleasure for a lot of men (and not-so-guilty for many more!)... they LOVE those skimpy outfits. I think the dancing is just beautiful, and I like it after about the 5th week when they've gotten rid of all the dilettantes and goofballs. Nancy, I think you saw it during the "stupid phase" of the show! Try it again! I'm in awe of those beautiful bodies!

Lynn, I'm distraught that your kitties are still unwell! I hope the new antibiotics work for them! And I'm so happy with your news from the doc!

KarenFL, how are you? I hope the face is returning to its normal beauty and that the ouchies are going away!

I thought the talk about mattresses was interesting. I have a waterbed, have always had a waterbed, and hopefully will always have one! I cannot sleep on a regular mattress; it just kills my back. Traveling always poses a challenge, because I know I'll be in pain and uncomfortable from sleeping on regular mattresses.

Things to do, people to see, places to go, so I'll hither off for now. Freda, KarenMO (how's Mike?), PT, Mary, Rosey, Gayle, Bobbi, everyone... have a lovely day! :carrot:

Jane 05-12-2011 01:26 PM

Hi ladies,

Here's is a link to a thread where admin Suzanne forbids Kirstie/celebrity bashing:

http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/gene...er-celebs.html

In light of that, I have edited your posts.

(doesn't mean I don't agree with you, though!) ;)

jess1 05-12-2011 02:06 PM

Hmmmmmm, that didn't seem like bashing to me. No one said anything bad about her. But, okay.........

ellabella 05-12-2011 03:33 PM

Bashing? I distinctly recall saying that I liked _________. I did disagree about her wearing a “stretchy” 4/6, but I didn’t realize that disagreeing with something somebody says – celebrity or not – was a form of “bashing”.
Wow. Yeah. Okay. Sure.
She wears a 4 /6, you say? Oh, absolutely! No doubt about it! I’m sure that’s COMPLETELY accurate. I wear a 2/4 myself, so I ought to know!
I’d also like to say that if I haven’t got something good, or at least neutral, to say about somebody, I typically keep my mouth shut. So, this is pretty weird, you know? But, on to the things that really matter…
I just heard that this summer was going to be a bit dreary here in the northeast. Rainy. Gray. PT, I’m willing to talk trading places if you are…
K3, based on how great you looked after it took a few days to calm down last time, I’m predicting flat-out GLAMOUR this time out. How about pictures once everything has a chance to settle in?
Tea? MY dh is a software engineer, and STILL messes things up with his tinkering. Typically, we have to call my son to get it straightened out and working right.
Karen31, you know how inaccurate ANY kind of scale can be, and your poor Wii is suffering, no doubt, from having been moved without a 30-day notice. Give it a little time to adjust, and you’ll see that you never really got off the track at all. (I’m waiting for a nice picture shot by your pool in another month or so…)
Freda, that makes two of us needing haircuts and colors. Mine is longer than it’s been in a while, too, and I’m just going to have the dead ends clipped off, and have it shaped up a little, but keep as much of the length as I can. I want it streaked with silver. I have a lot of silvery gray coming in the underneath parts and I’d like for it to look a little more uniform as it continues to gray out. I’ll be glad if it ever gets all silvery – no more hair coloring for me, then.
Hope the antibiotics help those kitties, Lynn. It’s no fun when our little furry folk aren’t feeling up to par.
Gayle, that’s why I only weigh once a week – and not even that if I KNOW I’ve overindulged. I don’t handle disappointment well…usually makes me want to throw in the towel and eat a few candy bars.
Nancy, my dear….choose your new mattress with extreme care! You’re right – it’s a big investment for anybody, and not something you want to have to replace in another year or two. It’s too bad the mattress stores don’t let you sleep overnight on one in their store to see how you feel in the morning!
Well, gotta run…bbl to check in with everybody else.

Hey GGs,
I agree Zoe & Donna, didn’t seem like bashing to me. Guess Jane thought different. To be fair, maybe Kirstie meant Chico sizes, like Lynn talked about a while back. I found a Chico blouse in a size 3 at one of the thrift stores, & it was a little too big!

Zoe, surely they can't accurately predict what the weather will be like the whole summer! You just keep holding out for blue skies & lots of sunshine. And, I will definitely do a lot of research before I commit to buying a bed. I was thinking the same thing about being able to sleep on one before buying it.

Donna, I’m still DVRing DWTS, so I’ll try watching again. What kind of waterbed do you have? I guess I lied when I said I’d never had a new bed - ex-hubby #2 & I did get a new waterbed. It was the cheapest style sold, full size, no headboard, & no baffles. As far as comfort, it was ok, except for getting in & out. I’ve been wondering if they still make the soft-side ones (the ones that look like a regular bed, with the water part in the middle). I always thought I might like one of those, but I couldn’t afford one. If you’re wondering how I know so much about waterbeds, ex-hubby worked for a shop that sold them, for a couple of years when we were married.

Maureen, sorry your DH messed up your computer. Fortunately my SO won’t touch our computer - says it’s too much reading, & he doesn’t like to read! I’ve heard that installing IE9 can cause some bad problems, but it sounds like it’s just causing you some inconvenience - at least I hope that’s the case!

KarenMO, I agree with what Zoe said about your Wii. I’m sure your weight gain is from that. I would have moved the Wii back to carpet, rather than “accept” a 3 pound gain! Maybe this would be a good time for a confession: I actually have 2 scales that I weigh on each morning. My old scale started acting up in Jan., & it doesn’t have a replaceable battery, so I got out a spare one I had. I wanted to check my weight on it, while I could still get the old one to work. Well, the new scale always weighs me at 1 to 2 pounds more than the old scale, but I always report the lower weight. I really think the new scale is more accurate, because I can’t get it to “change it’s mind” like I sometimes can with the old one. But, in my defense, the old scale is the one I started out with. So, I’m sticking with what it says, as long as I can get it to work! Whew, feels good to get that off my chest - I was feeling a little guilty.

Freda, my “house guest” is still being really nice, & she left here around 11AM today, to spend the day, & probably most of the night, with friends. Yay! So far, she really hasn’t been here that much. If this keeps up, we should do fine! Did you get your hair done? That’s something I always put off, guess it just seems like too much trouble. And, I hate the cost, & usually I’m not too happy with the results! (Maybe I just expect too much?!)

Lynn, good luck with the kitties & the new antibiotic! I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

Gayle, sorry about that scale. Obviously, I have scale issues! Let’s try to remember - IT’S JUST A NUMBER! I can definitely relate to expecting the pounds to magically fall off whenever I make the least bit of effort. We probably all keep hoping for that! Guess we’re stuck with having to work for it. Darn!

Time to fix dinner, meatless tonight - baked sweet potatoes, green beans & cantaloupe. Yum! Bye y’all.

:) Hi Everyone - Just a quick stop in to see how everyone is doing. Didn't go to "weigh-in" on Tues. (& am scared to get on the scales at home - I will, I will ) as I went "boutique" shopping (thrift stores) & lunch out of course with my Crown Jewels group; had a good time as usual with these gals. I didn't even buy too much of what I don't need either! Baxter had surgery yesterday - a wart removed from by his tear duct & teeth cleaned. I wasn't sure what I was going to spend my income tax refund on but he sure did! All's well with him & that's what counts, eh? Today I went for breakfast with the gals & now I'm going to get Baxter out for a walk. Kudos :cp: to those that there are less of & hugs :hug:to those that aren't - we shall suceed! BFN

maryea 05-12-2011 07:31 PM

Hello GGs! :) We just got home from Costco where we shared our usual slice of pizza and also had 4 samples, so my lunch was high in calories and especially carbs. I still have plenty calories left but will need to be somewhat careful to come in at 1343 which is my daily limit right now. I've done really well the last couple days so want to continue.

My dh seems really tired recently. He's kinda worrying me. Maybe its just his age I don't know, but a couple nights ago he complained of a mild ache down the inside of his upper left arm There were no other symptoms, except that his BP was a little high..160/88 or something like that. This mild pain was there for maybe 1-2 hours, I'm not quite sure how long he had it before he told me but it wasn't any longer than that and maybe less. Maybe I should have insisted he go in to be checked but knew he didn't want to so we waited and of course, it went away. I thought it might be just because he'd been working in the yard and nowadays he does get achy after working...but usually it's in his lower back or hips. Guess I should have insisted and If it happens again I will make sure he goes in but at the time just wasn't sure. His dad and brother died of heart attacks in their 70s and 80s. His oldest sister died young of some kind of heart disease so it is in his family. He take meds for BP and has been very stable for years. I can't bear to think of anything happening to him. Sometimes people think it's easier when you are older to accept loss but it really isn't.

Nancy - your meatless meal sounds good! We are having Lasagna and salad tonight. The Lasagna will have ground beef in it but we never have more than 1/2 lb of the lean kind and that means leftovers. Its the noodles I am more worried about, but think I will just remove part of it from my portion and just eat mostly meat and sauce. I did that with the spaghetti we had last night and it worked out ok calorie-wise.

Zoe - I don't color my hair and it is completely gray but not white. :( I really wanted it to be white and my hairdresser at the time (she used to color it) told me it was all white, so I when I knew I'd be retiring I decided to stop coloring it. Well she was wrong, it is not all white and I seriously doubt it ever will be unless I grow very very old. My grandma died at 104 and her hair was all white I think, but my mom died at 64 and my dad died at 88 with still a little gray mixed with white. Actually dad was mostly bald. Well, hopefully at least I won't go bald!;)

Tea Granny - look at the top of IE where it says View. When you click on it I think a menu will drop down and you can select Toolbar. Then to the right you can select any you want that you have on there. If you want others you can download them online. I rarely use IE but think that's the way it is.

Karen3- I'm amazed you can still wear your ring! I think I was a size 4 in high school and am now more like a 6. I still have my class ring but can't get it on any finger except MAYBE my pinky.

Rie - Good luck ...both at the school and the tables!

ETA: Have a question....what's the difference between the avatar and profile picture? Will a profile picture show up here or only in my profile?

Good question! Your avatar is the photo you have on the left hand side of your posts, at the top. Your profile picture will show up only in your profile info, when someone clicks on that. If you need help, let me know. :)

:) Hi Gals! Just checking in to see how everyone's day went.

Mary - I think you should keep an eye on your DH for more of the same type of signs he exhibited a couple of nights ago. And if he doesn't want to go to the hosp./ER make him do it anyway, even if he says it's only a mild ache/pain. This seems to be different from the aches from working too hard. Best to have it checked out. I'm not a dr. or nurse or even in the health care profession but I do know there could be something wrong when things change.

Zoe - I have colored my hair for so long that I didn't remember what color it really is! A couple of years ago I decided to let it go "au natural" & was quite surprised that it wasn't as white as I thought it would be but more of a gray. I have been various shades of brown, red & lastly blond. Now I'm reverse streaking it with the natural brown it is.

Karen3: I still have my class ring (1956) too! I'll have to see if I can even get it on any finger.

That's it for now! "Hi" to all those I didn't do personals. Catch you all later!

Happy FRIDAY the THIRTEENTH GGs! I really like Fridays & the number 13, so I always think of it as a lucky day. Have a good one.

Nancy, I NEEDED that!!!! (I'm not generally superstitious, but have to admit to having a few weebly-wobbles over today being Friday the thirteenth!

Have a good one, everybody! I'll bbl after a completely unneccessary and ridiculous staff meeting.

Good Morning! Happy Friday to everyone! Mike went to the hospital yesterday so they could sedate him and let his dentist check him out good. His appt. was at 11:00 am and he left the hospital about 6:30 pm! But the dentist said that he wasn't going to do anything right now. He feels that trying to go in and bring the tooth back down out of his gums could do more damage than already is done. So he is thinking that the tooth will work its way back down again. I didn't think that would happen but guess that is why I'm not a dentist. Still am not happy. They are pursuing legal action. But the house manager says he is doing pretty good and at least he is eating. I wish I could shove a few teeth back up that drivers gums and see how she would feel!! BE NICE KAREN!!!

They are having the Battle Of Carthage re-enactment tomorrow here! We plan on going to see it. In fact it will be starting only about 5 blocks from where we live. They have black powder guns and canons that will be shooting so I am sure it will be very noisy! I hope to get some good pics and video that I will post on my facebook. Here is a link to the "Battle of Carthage" if any of you are interested in checking it out:
http://www.battleofcarthage.org/

Well, need to get some stuff done. The weekend looks to be busy with the battle, church and my brothers lunch on Sunday and the we leave for Branson on Monday.

Be back later.....

jess1 05-13-2011 10:35 AM

Good Morning, All...
Drive by....
Mary, it would make YOU feel better to have your husband checked out. Those kinds of pains you describe are concerning, especially given the family history. Better that he be cranky at you than to be sorry!

Nancy, I was born on the 13th and have always claimed Friday as my birth day, whether it is or it isn't (it was so long ago that probably they didn't have days of the week then). I've always found Friday the 13th to be quite acceptable!!

Your question about waterbeds: I think the soft side beds are still available. I have a regular old hippie waterbed (!), and I make sure I keep it full; otherwise, yes, it starts to hurt my back.

KarenMO, I hope Mike is doing better. Are you still looking at the program closer to home? It would certainly relieve some of your anxiety to have him where you can keep an eye on him! How's your other son doing? You haven't mentioned him, so one hopes that he's behaving??

PT, when is the wedding? When is your gift week at the beach?

Everyone, have a lovely day! All is well...... the rain has made everything so GREEN! Beautiful!!

maryea 05-13-2011 03:26 PM

My dh has had no more symptoms, but I did make an appointment for him to see the doctor just in case something is going on. Don't think they can tell unless there is actual damage to the heart which I doubt has happened, but at least as you say, I will feel better. It's not until next Wed though and he plans on going fishing Monday. :) So I just told him if he notices anything like that again to let me know sooner and to immediately let his fishing buddy know so he can get out of there quickly just in case.

Karen31 - I love history so know I would enjoy watching the reenactment! Very exciting that it is so close to you.

ETA: Just got a call from the doctor himself while typing this and he says no waiting, he wants him in there today. He said he would go since the doctor called.;)
