Good Morning! I'm not sure what has happened to me this morning but I got up and did an hour with the Wii and now I'm all dressed and ready for church! I did an hour with the step aerobics on the wii fit-- I'm wanting to get that down good before moving on to the next thing. I was aggravated though because I didn't score as good as I did the first time that I did it! Darn it! I plan to get down to my "woman cave" again this afternoon and do at least an hour on the gazelle, recumbent bike and the treadmill, if Tim gets a chance to get to look at it. He has had other things that are higher on HIS priority list than mine!! But at least I have a few things to switch around on down there to get an hour in and if I can get it figured out I can add that to my wii fit too!
It's cold here again this morning-- only about 22 degrees but it isn't snowing. Not yet anyway. We haven't had any snow this year so far-- knock on wood!! I thought that it was so cute this morning, I opened up my email and there was a birthday card for Ginger!! Her Vet. sent it, I thought that was so cute. She is 8 years old today, as close as we have been able to figure anyway. I got her from a shelter and they figured she was about 11/2 years when I got her. Gosh, she missed Elvis' birthday by one day!!! Well, think I will go and have a cup of coffee and relax a bit before heading off to church. Sure felt good to get up and do the wii!!! |
Hi Everyone,
Just a quick post before SO's DD wakes up & wants to get online. First, thanks Donna about the pics. I guess I'm just always going to hate how I look in them. (SO says it's a good thing I look better in person -LOL, I think he was trying to make me feel better?!) Freda, I'm hoping my face will adjust, but mainly trying to remember this is about feeling better & being healthy. But...., we women are always going to be concerned about how we look, aren't we? I love shopping at the Goodwill - 3 pairs of jeans for $13.50! Rosey, do you have one near you? I tried taking-up a pair of jeans I really wanted to be able to wear & they looked awful. Of course, I'm no seamstress. Wish me luck, Im going to an all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet today! I've really been looking forward to it, but now I'm a little apprehensive. The scale has been mostly going down for me, I was down to 164lbs. this morning Yay!, & I know tomorrow I won't like what it says. I am going to pig-out!!! However, the whole year and a half I've been losing this weight, until the last 2 months, I ate out once a week - usually at an all-you-can-eat place. And, I still managed to lose weight. It will be okay! Right?? I have learned not to eat so much that I make myself miserable, & I do tend to choose more veggies & lower cal things now. Wow, I feel better already. I hear SO's DD is up, so I better get off of here. Bye, All. NCNancy |
Karen3, you and I were exercising together!!!!! I finally broke down and hopped on the Wii Fit Plus while dh was showering. It was so long ago that I tried it before that I had to create a whole new Mii because I couldn't remember the pass word for the old Wii. I DO think that what it says you/I should weigh is a little unrealistic. It says that my ideal weight is 136, and I can tell you that I look skeletal at 140/145. I mean skeletal! We have some pictures taken about 14 years ago when my youngest daughter was in high school and getting ready for her junior prom. I was doing her nails, and had on a scoop necked leotard and jeans. My collarbones protruded horribly...trust me, horribly...not the slightest bit attractively...and my cheekbones were so sharp-looking that I looked like a caricature. It was a year or so after my divorce and I had been on the typical post-divorce diet and make-over. After looking at those pictures I immediately adjusted my goals to a more sensible 150-ish. So I'm not terribly impressed with the Wii's ability to measure and judge what we should have for goals, but did get myself started with that basic step. Like you, I figured I should get that down pat before moving on to anything more complicated. So, I did that for like 18 minutes, and STILL couldn't get the forward-back-side-side steps down pat. Then did the hula hoops, and didn't do really great with that, and THEN did the easiest short run...didn't do so badly on that, but wouldn't want to repeat it. So, I got in about 40 minutes, and unless dh & I do some bowling or tennis or something later on this afternoon, I think I'm about done. I'm not pushing myself on this exercise business - just doing what I can and not trying to do any more than that. (Okay. Translation: I am basically a very lazy person)
Back to work tomorrow. Oh joy. A thousand things piled up to do. Oh, well, they'll get done and then we'll have a three-day weekend for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. Thank goodness. I am less and less enthusiastic about work, but I suppose I'd better try to LOOK enthusiastic and LOOK energetic so that they'll hire me back on as a consultant when I retire. I'm still dragging some from this cold/flu/virus - whatever I've got, but I can't put off getting back to the office any longer or I'll start missing deadlines. Hah! Thanks for the encouragement to whine, Freda! Made me laugh. Girl, you NEVER whine, but I appreciate the solidarity just the same! Gayle, I'm so glad that you're checking in regularly now, and SO proud of your WW results! You GO, girl....WE know you can do it! Hey, PT...you'd better NOT hate the way you look, because the rest of us LOVE your looks, Missy. So there. You can stop THAT one right in it's tracks! <doing my old crab persona, here> And, NCNancy, your picture looks great, and you've done an amazing job with the weight loss...plus we can hardly see our faces in these little avatar pictures, anyway....for all we know, we ALL ought to be in the movies!;) Really glad to hear from you, Mary - I thought you were just going away for Christmas, and have been getting a little worried. SO sorry about all the vehicle expenses! Yikes! PLUS being sick. I know you'll be glad to get home again and into your own bed. Rosey, those things really are beautiful! Your niece is one lucky new mom-to-be, having an Auntie like you to outfit her wee one. Bunti, nobody is as organized as our Bobbi (Hi Bobbi!)(I don't think...well, maybe Lynn). Okay, maybe others, as well. Guess I'd better only speak for myself, here, but organization is definitely NOT one of my talents. It's good to have a fellow less-organized-person on board. :D  Karen3 is it raining down there in FL???? They're predicting quite a lot of storm activity this week...rain for you, snow for us. UGH. And Happy Sunday to all the GG's wherever you may be this morning! :grouphug: Z |
Zoe, I had fun this morning but like you I really don't quite agree with the weight they say I should be at. They are saying 109--I'm shooting for 125~~ I knowI am only 4'11" but still let me get to 125 then I'll see what I think! It has been so long since I've see the 120's I know I'd be happy right there!
It is still cold her but no snow yet! It could skip us and it wouldn't make me mad! Well, think I will change clothes back into mw sweats and then see what my next first step is! Take care everyone |
My word!!! You gals are motivated to exercise! I envy you. I have never actually seen a WiiFit, so can only kind of guess what that is about, I pretty much only just started with stretches and my treadmill, and walking. But now with the torn meniscus, even the slowest speed on the treadmill is too fast for me. :(

Hi---It's me again!! I was wondering if anyone has used the Kettlebells? What do you think of them? Aldi's has them on sale right now... you can get a 5lb, 10lb. and a 15lb one for $24.99. Just wondering about them.

Karen, no we will not buy another rv. we need a newer car...ours is 17 years old. We have drastically gone into what savings we had toward a newer one with this trip (we don't want a loan), so we hope to sell the rig and use the money to get a newer car (the proceeds plus our savings). We plan to travel in other ways from now on.
ETA: We will miss RVing but always knew this time would come eventually. With such an old rig (rv is 18 years and the p/u is 17 years), if we don't sell them now we will not get much for them. Right now I THINK we can get our repair expenses back plus hopefully make a little more. We have timeshares and military options for travel...just won't be able to stay out as long. |
went walking
Hi all
I managed to get to the mall and walk about 1.5 miles. too cold here in Michigan to walk outside as I like. Rosey, I love your quilt. very nice colors. Ellabella, nevre mind what Wii says you should weigh. You are exercising and that's the important thing. I think those suggested weights are for 20 somethings and that's not us. Do what you need for your body. Karen31, I've also looked at kettleballs and can't decide. I have stuff now that I don't use and am worried that it would be just one more thing that I don't use. MINancy |
Hi Rosey, Yes, they are used on the biggest loser. I just "googled" them thinking that I could get a picture to post here but it didn't work. I'm just not sure about adding something else right now but it sure seems like a good price!! The other places that I have looked are all around $50 for the three of them. Oh well, maybe by the time I decide and get to the store they will be gone! They also have the rebounder tramp. with the bar to hold on to for $34... I have a mini tramp and really don't use it and tried to say to myself it is because I can't hold on to something....As it is I think I have enough down there and once I can use the treadmill again that is quite a good circuit workout!
MINancy---there are a lot of people that walk the malls here too. They even have the different mile markers marked on the floor here. When the weather is a little nicer I wouldn't mind it but right now we have 27 degrees with 2 to 5 inches of snow predicted. The mall is about 15 miles from here so just can't see that it would be good to get stuck over there in a snow! Just finished having some chicken and veggies so guess I'll get in and get the kitchen cleaned up before sitting down and watching some tv. Have a good night. |
This is Dr. Oz's recipe, I'm wondering why he only has 1 Tablespoon of Chia seeds? I think I'd double that and cut the canola oil to 2 Tablesoons. I haven't made these yet so don't know how they taste. I used up my agave nectar and wasn't impressed with it. I think I'd add some stevia instead for sweetner and cut the Walnuts to lower the calories. I love walnuts but too many calories for me.

Good Morning, All...
Beautiful white fairyland here!! Of course, now I have to go shovel, and I won't think it's so beautiful in a while! KarenMO! Slow down!! OMG, you're almost up with Lynn insofar as massive, huge, and olympian exercise marathons!! Truly, I had to sit down and calm down after reading about all that Wii-ing and Woo-ing! And PT/Zoe, my dear, dear soulmate non-exerciser... YOU'RE Wii-ing and Woo-ing, too??? What is this world coming to??? Well, y'all send pictures! NCNancy, I think maybe you should just smack that SO of yours! Men do NOT think before they open their mouth with those "helpful" words... you look great in your picture, and I'm sure you look great in person! Don't hesitate to post them! How did you do at the Chinese buffet? Big problems for me... I LOVE Chinese best of all, but the salt and the MSG (whether they say it's there or not!) do a job on me for about 3 days. I just balance the 7# water weight gain with the pure indulgence... and you know which one wins!! I did my in-store demo gig yesterday and could hardly walk afterward. I don't know what's going on with that leg. I'm sure it's tied in with the sciatic nerve, and I'm getting pretty tired of it! Standing in one spot for all those hours is tough. However, I do feel pretty good today, which is a much quicker recovery than the other times.... so, progress! Better get rolling and psyche up for the shoveling. Everyone, stay warm, dry, and SAFE! |
Morning....foggy with showers. Thanks we needed that! It's 61 but looks like a chilly about to snow kinda day. Even after 11 years the weather here puzzles me. Growing up a mackerel ski(clouds like fish bones) meant rain was coming, down here it usually means extra planes landing at Tampa airport.
I made the bestest dinner last night. Broiled MahMah with lime pepper and a squeeze of lemon, sauteed baby spinach with garlic and squeeze of lemon and pea salad. Also made new pot of vegies, Dash's turkey, and some hard boiled eggs for the week. Had vegies for dessert. Tossed the leftover spinach in vegie pot. Enough fish for tonight. Love an easy day. No bridge, partner is sick. Must admit glad she didn't share her germs with me. Is it just me? They are searching to blame someone for the shooting. Why search there are crazy people out there who do crazy things. Their intervoices tell them to...Whether it is a suicidal boomer, a guy in a bell tower or MacDonald customer. Crazy is crazy.....Years ago when working with vets who had such horrible hallucinations I asked the Doc would it help to understand what they meant....like Freud's dreams. Doc laughed and said nope crazy is crazy. Sometimes Sh*t Happens. It's so horrible we just can't believe there are people that vile. Best I can do is say a prayer for the families. I used my Kindle yesterday. It was okay. Will be nice to take on a trip with a ton of books stored, but found it got heavy holding it. Was not comfortable reading when flat on a desk, and the shape is a bit awkward. Took me awhile to figure out how to turn the page....it's not easy getting old and stupid! WI this am down 8lbs. No happy dancing as this is mostly water weight. But beats the devil out of that 10lb gain. Clothes feel looser than 8 must admit. Wearing a shirt I bought 10 yrs ago and it's roomy. I have been making the vegies with tons of beans and so far have not had any leg or foot cramps. And no South Beach flu symptoms. Why does it always amaze me when I follow directions and they work? BBL to do personals....hugskaren3 |
Good Morning Ladies! It is cold here this morning---25 and snowing...I got in another hour on the Wii this morning! I'm loving it! I did Hula hoops, Basic steps and basic running this morning... Oh yeah, I also gave the downhill skiing a couple tries too. So much fun! If I can get the hubby to get a few pictures I will post them--- I'm sure they aren't going to be a "pretty picture" though! I still feel pretty clutzy on the balance board! I'm just getting up and doing my hour with the Wii and then have my slimfast shake and I come to the computer. I don't know it seems to be working for me right now--
Well, Hello to everyone and I'll be back later. Take care |
Morning everyone. Ten degrees here, but looking outside it is an sparkly wonderland, no new snow, but everything is coated with ice crystals.
Hubby has a different outlook... I said honey, look out the window, isn't it lovely? He said, "Brrrrrr, looks cold to me," and hustled back to bed. Rosey, your beautiful quilts and the diapers are so lovely and special. I know they will be cherished. That style (sort of) diaper is very expensive in the higher end boutique type stores. Jess, was delighted to read your post, I am somewhat relieved to find that not everyone here does 4-5 hours of exercise a day. I shoot for 30 minutes plus some stretching, 4 times a week. And try to make small changes to get myself to move more. Taking baby steps here. Made it through the weekend on plan. Wahoo!!! You know Bobbi, I don't know that I have ever made Chia seed anything. BTW, long ago I was a chef in California's wine country. Went back to college to change careers in the early 80s when I moved to a place where chefs were "cooks" and women weren't "dinner cooks" , and there weren't the benefits I needed for self and family. I still miss it in many ways. I have cooked or baked in restaurants with German, Italian, California Cuisine, Steakhouse, diner, Filipino/Eclectic, and Pacific Seafood with an oriental influence. I am about 30 years behind the times in cuisine trends, but still love to cook. It is fun to find healthy and wheat free ways to make the yummy foods I like. |
