Uh-oh! Nutrisystem is looming large in my future. I am up to 159 lbs. That is up 3 lbs since last week. I am not hopeful about losing 4 lbs by 4th of July but I will TRY!

Stress and hospital food did me in. Back to eating right and exercising today.

Tonight is my sister’s dance studio recital (2 hours north of me). She owns the studio and her daughter and granddaughter teach. Her youngest granddaughter will be performing. It is not my favorite thing to do, but it is one of those family obligations that needs to be honored.

Will check back tomorrow.

Lynn

Happy Week-end everyone!
I'm off to a uncles funeral this morning and I'm dreading the lunch they'll serve. All carbs probably, hot dishes with cream of mushroom soup, buns , ick!
You all have a skinny one!

Good Morning, All...
Quick check in... pulled out the dreaded scale and have gotten rid of the Chinese food gain... yea! It's all MSG and stuff, so lots of water gets rid of it, eventually!

Bobbi, another funeral? My condolences to you...

Nuthin' going on here! PT/Zoe, have fun with the gbabies, whatever you do! KarenMO, Ginger and Sissy are, well, um, cute! I know, I know: it'll grow back! Whatever happened with Greenies?

Have a good weekend, everyone! Be safe (and cool!)....

Donna, that contest is still going on with the greenies--- but I just figured with some of them already up in the 10,000's and higher votes that it wasn't going to happen with Ginger and Sissy! I know they look funny with their haircuts but they won't be dragging a bunch of stuff in from outside in their hair all the time and they will be cooler here for the rest of the summer. I hope I can get rid of my Mexican lunch calories today as fast as you have gotten rid of your chinese!

Bobbi, I hope you have a good day in spite of the funeral. Those just aren't good no matter what.

Hello to everyone else and I will try to get back later this evening. I have some pool doctorin' that has to be done this afternoon when I get back. I started to get some algae in it and called to ask what to do before it got out of hand. So I dumped like 8 pounds of this shock stuff in last night and need to wait a bit for it to settle to the bottom and then vacuum it out. Karen3, do you have any tips on this? I know you have a pool too and this is the first one I have ever had so it is definitely a learning process.

I am feeling like I've lived a very sheltered life in some ways...my dh has always done the yard work. I only go outside when I want to, do occasional weeding and planting a flower or two. LOL That's all changed at least temporarily. I have been working out in the yard, watering my butt off...never realized how big our yards are (front and back)...have to move the sprinkler (whatever you call those things) a couple times and then there is the other watering...all the plants and two small raised gardens. The hoses are heavy and all twisted up...had a heck of a time unwounding everything and my dh laughed when he saw me...I was wet and dirty from head to toe..
Also weeded the gardens which wasn't a lot as he keeps such good care of them. I may sound like I'm complaining but you know I actually enjoyed it...I wouldn't want him to be laid-up like this for anything but I think he has protected me too long...it feels physically and mentally good to be out there using my muscles and my brain (well the brain a little bit)! Usually the only physical workout I get is at the gym. I'm sure all the exercises at the gym helped me do this...sure glad I started going to the gym about 10-12 years ago and dieting/losing weight (however slowly).......if I'd kept going eating and not exercising they way I was when we first retired, I'm sure I wouldn't have been in as good a shape as I am at this age. Even helping him move would have been very difficult probably and I am very thankful that I can do it all however inefficiently...LOL ...I'm sure I'll get better at the yard stuff in time. The next challenge will be to see whether I can start the mower and mowing the lawns. I have a neighbor boy who is hoping for the job but I actually want to try it myself. I used to mow now and then when my dh was away with the military or his regular job then I got so I couldn't even start the mower. But we have a new mower now so will give it a try. Anyway I did all this plus got all caught up with all my weekly housework and helped my dh and now I'm tired and a little achy but very proud and pleased with myself.

Rosey - I never thought of toddler snacks..will have to check that out. I don't get to Walmart much as is off my usual route. They keep promising to build one close by us but so far haven't.

Karen - good luck with the pool stuff...hope the other Karen can help you. I haven't a clue as never had a pool.

Jess - glad the Chinese food pounds didn't hang around and I'm sure it was worth the day or two of extra water weight anyway!

Lynn - Hospital food is the worst!! Even though I know that I am always still amazed that they don't provide more healthy foods both to the patients and in the cafeterias/cafes.

Oh, SUCH a fun day! The sand sculptures were amazing, we schlepped all over the beach looking at each and every one, voted for our favorites, and will find out if they won after they post it on the website, I guess. I ate ridiculously, so it's best just not to talk about it and depress myself, and after all, in the words of Scarlett O'Hara, "Tomorrow is another day..." Had great fun frolicking in the surf, climbing the rocks and scouting out shells and prettily-patterned rocks washed smooth by the surf. It didn't rain until well after 7:00 when we were on our way to supper. Took the kiddos at 9:30 this morning and didn't bring them home until 8:30 tonight - oh, how I LOVE these little day trips with the grandbabies!
Ginger and Sissy look adorable, Karen31...silly and cute all at the same time, like little baby lions!
Sorry about the funeral, Bobbi...not a very pleasant way to spend your day.
Oh, Lynn, you'll drop those pounds - no need to resort to nutrisystem! You always manage to get the weight off, and you will again!
Good grief, Mary! A LITTLE tired and achey, you say? If I did all that in one day, I'd probably be in bed for a week trying to recuperate!
Hey Rosey, those baby food snacks aren't bad...love some of the yogurt ones! I buy them for the twins...maybe I'll have to buy a few for me!
Good job dropping the MSG weight, PT...you GO, girl....you're just moving down nice and steady, now. You sure are doing something right...
Posting a few pics from today..only a couple...the rest were too big and too tired to resize them right now...zzzzzzzz
Have a great weekend, everybody!

Love the pictures Zoe!! The whole 1 1/2 years that we lived back there we never went to a beach!!! Well, we tried but it was a bad time and most were closed due to contamination. So I still have never been to a beach! Poor me! Guess I will have to haul in sand and just put it all around the pool!! Not a good idea--- won't do that. But I will make it to put my toes in the water one of these days!! Still have relatives in Middleton!

Got the pool all vacuumed this evening and it looks better. It wasn't bad before but I sure didn't want that algae to get ahead of me. Tomorrow morning I think I will brush down the sides and then vacuum it again. Sure hope this works for it. I know this evening when I was vacuuming it I had sweat running in my eyes, dripping off my nose and it made it hard to see. But that should help sweat out some of the burrito dinner calories I had at lunch time. So good.....

Well, guess it is getting late so better get ready to wind down here. I just figured it out that I am kind of tired!!
Have a good night

good Morning girls,

It's still hot here, but it's supposed to cool down after today, into the high 70's. perfect! The Grands are back from vacation today too. It will be so good to see them again and hear of all the things they experienced. At 7 and 10 they saw the same things but experienced them differently.

Z, love the pictures, and the new picture of you too! Aren't grands fun? I loved my son dearly, but I don't remember having so much FUN with him. I think we were too busy to really enjoy things.

Bobbi, Sorry about the death in the family. Seems like they are coming more often for us now.

Donna, I noticed the (what is that animal any way) on your scale is on the move.

Karen31, I always get my Benny cut shorter in the summer time. He doesn't lke the heat, will lay on the tile to find a cool spot.

Rosey, Good idea with the baby snacks. I'll have to try those. I know I keep suckers in the car for when I want something sweet. They last a long time and don't have many calories.

Mary, I am guilty of letting my DH do most of the outside work too. We get dependant because we each have our "things" that we do. We got a wake up call a few years ago when his cousin passed away and her husband was totally lost! And yes, hospital cafateria's are the worst! We don't even have a salad bar any more. I take my meals.

Lynn, Hope everything is ok with SIL. And don't worry about the nutra system, just get right back on line and you will be fine!

Freda

Hey Karen this is what our pool guy had us do last year...Pour in 1/2 bottle of Silveralgcide in skimmer. 2 jugs of liquid chlorine and run the filter for 36 hrs straight. 2 days later add another jug of chlorine. Pool cleaned up perfect and no more algea came back. karen3

Good Morning, All...
Lovely posts today!
PT/Zoe, I LOVE the pictures! I especially love the family group! Glad you had fun! Everyone looks happy... and the toes are perky!

Freda, one of the new hospitals in our area (more like a resort/spa!) has on-site McDonalds and Domino's! If you don't like the hospital food, you can order out. Doesn't that just reek "make more money?", when there are such obviously unhealthy options in a HOSPITAL???????? What a weird world we have now!

Bobbi, are you doing okay? Rough weekend for you....

KarenMO, drink more water and (if you don't object to it) add just a very wee tad of lemon juice. It helps get rid of the water weight from our very wee indulgences. Are your little ladies adjusting? Was Angel a welcome guest this time? How do you vacuum a pool? Do you have to drain it? What a chore!

All is well here. So far, this first month of summer gone, it hasn't been too bad and we had a nice cooling rain shower last evening.

Just blather.... hope all are well and happy and healthy! Lynn, SIL okay? Stay cool..... be safe!

Thanks Karen, We ended up putting in eight 1 pound bags of shock in it. Left it overnight then vacuumed it and backwashed. Then I vacuumed again this morning and backwashed again. It was just starting a bit around the edges but I sure didn't want it to get out of hand! I think I will start adding a cup of algaecide concentrate to it along with the weekly shock! This is all new to me and when you are playing with almost 20,000 gallons of water you sure don't want the algae taking over!! This afternoon it looks pretty clear and tested the water and everything is listed in the "ideal" range. So since it is 92 degrees and I haven't been able to play for the last couple days think that I will go out there for a bit this afternoon.

Donna, there is a big, long hose that you connect to your pump and it vacuums up the bottom of your pool like a good old Kirby!!! You don't need to drain the water to do it.. Thanks goodness! Speaking of Kirby, I should use mine in my house sometime today or tomorrow too!!!! LOL!!!

Have a great day everyone!

Amazingly I am not sore today after the new-to-me yardwork. AND, my weight dropped a little...guess I need to go out there and wrestle with those hoses more often!

Karen 31 - glad you are getting the pool issues under control. A pool is nice I'm sure but it does sound like a lot of work. Up here in the rainy NW I don't think we would enjoy a pool that much.

It's a beautiful day today! Of course we didn't make it to church as my dh is just too much of a fall risk right now and I won't leave him that long.
He is doing more and more movement on his own now though ...I am mostly standby assist now and occasionally when he is in pain or very tired I still assist to move his bad leg. He still has lots of swelling and a little more pain but don't see any really bad signs so think it is just the increased ambulation. Hoping PT comes tomorrow.

Taking it easy today. Hope you are all having a nice Sunday.

Lynn, there is an anouncement about that-- supposedly it is the blogs--- I have McAfee and haven't received any notices about it. You might want to check it out.
