Hi ladies,

I thought it was time to start a new thread in case any of you, or any newbies, have dial up. Meant to do that at 100 posts, lol. Any of you can start the new thread when it's time, if you want.

Pam - my northern neighbor - mmmm, grilled salmon sounds so good! Haven't had it since last summer. Your life sounds very interesting. Enjoy your quiet week.

Linda - I'll have to try your broccoli soup recipe. About the pants, I have to always make sure they are long enough for me! It seems the manufactures are making them longer now than they did years ago. Good for me, not so good for you. Hope Jake is better and that you don't catch whatever it is.

Trish - YAY for finding a WOE you like. Mackenzie and I did have fun. Now the other Makenzie wants to know when it's HER turn to go, lol.

Carol - bet you're busier than a one-armed paper hanger, with your orders!

Makenzie the twin was here for the weekend, and now the house seems so quiet w/o her. She and her sisters will be back on Thursday, and stay through Saturday morning, then the whole family will be here for Easter dinner, and that makes me happy to thing about!

I've mentioned that I need a hobby, or something to be passionate about, again. Neal suggested I focus on my vegetable and flower gardens, and I think that's a good idea. I'm behind in planting already, because of the rain we got this week.

I lost an even pound last week. It's adding up!

Good morning! Wow, I can't believe we're in the last week of March already! Usually March drags by for me, but this month went by pretty fast.
We're starting out the week with plenty of rain, it must be a forerunner of April. It's supposed to be warm and sunny for the end of the week, though.
I have another week of vacation ahead of me, but I don't have any plans. Our plans for Bar Harbor had to be canceled since my DD couldn't get the week off. She's a church secretary and had an assistant lined up to fill in for her, but that didn't work out. I guess I'll have to find things to entertain myself this week. If it dries out enough, I'm eager to get my garden started.

Good Morning all. I hope I can join this group. Hubby and I are trying to lose weight. I have about 110 to lose and he has at least 75-80. I "forced" him, so he says, to go to a urologist to see why he keeps passing kidney stones, then that lead to our family doctor with a blood pressure of 194/118!!! I suspected high b/p but, My God, he is a stroke waiting to happen, anyway that led to ekg, echo and chest x-ray, then off to a cardiologist, now they want an ultra sound of the arteries that lead to the kidneys, so if there is any good to all of this, is tha it forces you to look at your lifestyle and health. We are VERY busy at work, so a calorie counting, food group counting is a mute point, there is simply no time, but our plan is to eat when hungry, stop when full, and do as healty as possible. Anyway thank you for the opportunity to get to know some of you. I have to go to work now, have a blessed day.

Good morning,

Linda - I'm sorry your plans for Bar Harbor fell through, but how wonderful that you have the week to plan as you like. A blank canvas, so to speak. I'm waiting for Mary's kids to come Thursday before we plant anything. Meant to do it last week, but it was just too wet.

CatholicCajun - a big to you! We're very glad you've joined us! Yes, health issues can sure give a person some incentive to lose weight, and eat healthily. I hope the tests will show no blockage in the arteries leading to the kidneys. What kind of work do you do?

Hello to anyone reading this.

The weather for the entire week is supposed to be pleasant, and downright warm for the coming weekend. YAY!! I'm headed outdoors in a bit, to finish pulling last year's dead stuff. Three year-old Jackson was helping me with that last week, but we didn't get very far, lol.

Later....

Hi everyone
A very happy day for me! I weigh at a local supermarket at least once a week.
Today the scale showed a loss of fifty pounds. I am dancin' ladies absolutely dancin'. I'm a little worried too, that my old thinking will decide that I look good and stop working my program. That is what happened to me in the past and I don't want to do it this time.
Jane - new threads are very considerate. I forgot about how long dial up takes
catholiccajun - Is that what we should call you? Welcome to the group. I think you will find all the support and caring here. You and your hubby are welcome!!

Thank you so much for the welcome! To answer the 2 questions, my husband and I own 3 Christian stores here is south Louisiana, so we are very busy, I do just about all the paper work and some of the ordering and also work 6 days a week, actually more like 7 with the paperwork! And you don't have to call me Catholic Cajun, you can call me Tammy. I had a few minutes to check my messages between customers. I hope you all have a blessed day.

Its afternoon here and I have had a busy day already. After my usual chores we took the van in for a 'check up' and to find out about the power steering fluid leak, turns out to only be a hose-not the pump, so a cheaper fix! We did some shopping before I came home to copy manure paper work for my hubby's job and I did some cleaning in the office at the farm where he works. Today is the last day I will have a little boy here-I have been filling in for a daycare provider who had a baby in Jan. I will have my grand daughter the rest of this week and then my dil is on spring break-she is a teacher-after break my grand daughter will go back to the regular day care. And then I will be fitting ground for spring planting! We farm about 300 acres organically.
Tammy-I suffer from kidney stones-I have a hereditary disease-which I share with 4 siblings, I had to have 3 big ones out on Feb 6, I used to think my weight had something to do with it, but my brother and one sister who also have it are quite slender. Welcome! I am fairly new here too.
I may be able to start walking with some good friends, so that will be good for me!
I would love to go to Bar Harbor, my daughter has spent time in Maine the last 18 mos with her job and we were going to go last Aug with her, but she had to go earlier and with the farm we couldn't go.
We may get away for a few days with our girls next week, not sure where we will head, but hubby wants to look at a pickup in Ohio, so we may end up in Penn.
Well, gotta figure out what is for supper, I have a meeting tonight and want to visit the library some time today!
have a great day all!

Default Hello

Pamb-hubby usually passes his stones when he over does it, fixing the roof, boarding up for a hurricane, unboarding for a hurricane, building a display for one of the shops, etc.. No history of it in his family as far as I know.

I have been to Bar Harbor-beautiful!! We flew to Maine to see Lighthouses, because I collect them, hope to go back someday, especially during our hot summers, it's nice up there.

Tammy, Welcome! It's nice to meet you and I look forward to getting to know you. I'm sorry about your DH's health problems, but it's a good wake-up call to start making a change before it's too late. Good luck to both of you.

Chickpanda, congratulations on your impressive weight loss! I hope you continue to do well and reach your goal before too much longer.

Pam, I used to suffer from kidney stone attacks, too, and the pain was worse than giving birth! I'm sorry you have to occasionally suffer through that. My GD was attending the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, so I'd go up often. But now she's decided to change her major and transfer to another college. We fell in love with Bar Harbor, though, and will still try to go up there as often as we can.

Jane, I hope you were able to make some progress on cleaning up your garden today. It's supposed to be warm and sunny after another day of rain tomorrow, and I hope to be able to have some soil delivered by then so we can finally get our garden planted. I know you'll have a great time planting your garden with your grandkids. I'll have Amber one day this week, but she wants to go on the train into Philly instead of work outside, so that's our plan.

I ended up spending the day with my parents, and we had a really pleasant day together. Dad wanted to get some new dress pants, so we went up to Reading to the outlets, and afterwards had lunch at their favorite restaurant. Unfortunately, most of the food on the menu wasn't compatible with my eating plan, so I just did the salad bar and managed to stay completely on plan and had a satisfying meal to boot.
I found a great swimsuit at the outlets that I just love, and it looks great on me, but oh, my, do my legs look awful! My thighs are all cellulite and saggy, loose skin. I'm going to have to really work hard on toning them up before swimsuit season, but that gives me the incentive I need to make sure I get on my bike every day. It's sad that as we get older our skin looses it's elasticity.

Well, I'm going to make a cup of tea and watch a little TV before heading to bed. Good night, all!

Good morning, ladies,

Chicpanda - a big WHOO HOO for losing 50 pounds! What an accomplishment! That's the equivalent of 200 sticks of butter! Maybe you could make a list of the reasons you want to keep on losing, and then look at it everyday to help yourself lose to goal.

Tammy - yours is a nice business to be in. I've often wanted to visit lighthouses, but never have. They fascinate me.

Pam - yay for a cheaper fix of the van! Usually it's the other way around, right, lol? Bet you'll miss the little boy. Kids are such a delight. 300 acres - yowza! We have only 58 acres, and rent them to a neighbor. Good idea to walk with friends. That will help keep you accountable.

Linda - glad you had a good time with your parents, and a big YAY for you staying OP in a restaurant that is a challenge. I'll bet your legs look just fine in your swimsuit. What color/style is it?

Chicpanda and Tammy - you can put your name in your signature if you'd like by clicking on User CP in the upper left hand corner of the page. Then click on Edit Signature, and there you go! Makes it easy for us to remember what you'd like to be called.

Hello to anyone else reading this.

Every time I see the name Bar Harbor, I "hear" it as "Bah Hahbah", lol.

Well, I didn't get to work outside yesterday, after all. I got some twice-baked potatoes made ahead and frozen for Sunday's dinner, then they can thaw and bake while we're at church. I used smallish potatoes so I can have 1/2 of one. It's all about portion control, right? Anyway, I also got a couple of other meals cooked ahead for when the grands are here later this week. Then my sister Maggie called and asked me to come in town to pick up a photo CD taken the day of Jeff's funeral, so of course I did. We had a good visit. Before I knew it, the day was gone.

Hopefully, today I will get to spend most of my time outside.

Have a good one, ladies!

I have been busy today, the manure paperwork is done and on its way to the DEQ and all my organic paper work is ready to be faxed in, just waiting for a phone call. I rode up to the other farm and we picked up supplies for the one down here and then we picked up our van and left the farm truck to get some work done on it. It is a lovely day out there! My daughter and grand daughter walked over to my inlaws and are now back. I am thinking about getting out and doing my chores a bit early, we also need to corral a steer that goes to market tomorrow. A son of some of our good friends proposed to his girlfriend by writing the proposal out in compost in a field and had our son lift them up in a telehandler so she could read it! We have a group of friends that we have had for over 30 yrs now-there were 7 couples, unfortunatley one of the hubby's was killed at the age of 55 last summer, anyway in 2007 we had 3 of 'our kids' get married, this year there will be two and now this one is engaged, we also had lots of babies in 2008.
Congrats on the weight loss chicpanda! I will join you there someday.
I will be back tomorrow, right now I need to get busy!

Jane, thanks for the compliment on my legs, but, believe me, they really do look awful. I love tankini style swimsuits, and my new one is a hot pink top with tiny black polka-dots and black spaghetti straps, with ruched side-seams, and the bottom is a black skirt style. Very cute, and I love it.
BTW, Caitlyn said no one in Bar Harbor pronounces it "Bah Hahbah". Only the tourists call it that.
Good for you for making dishes in advance for your Easter dinner! That's a great idea to make it easier on you. I'm providing and baking the ham for our dinner, and everyone else is bringing the side dishes and desserts, or otherwise I'd be thinking what I could do in advance, too. I think I will make and freeze something vegetarian and have something SBD friendly on hand for me, so I'll be armed and prepared to resist any temptations to sample off-plan food. I feel strong and confident that I'll be able to stay on track.

It ended up being a busy morning, what with my DS and Amber stopping in for a while while I was cleaning the house and doing laundry, and then my brother called and wanted to talk for a while. But I did get everything done, even my workout, and was able to finally spend some time at the library. I have the Mark Sisson book on order, but I was able to get a copy of Beck Diet Solutions, which I've started to read already. It's very interesting.
For fun, I also picked up Jan Karon's These High Green Hills, part of the Mitford series, and Lancaster Brides, by Wanda Brunstetter. So I'm set for lots of good reading for a while.

Hi, Pam! I just noticed you snuck in while I was posting this! I just love reading about your life on the farm!

Good morning, I have my outdoor chores done for this morning and am going to tackle cleaning the back room, maybe I can wash all the coveralls and put them away till next fall?
My stubborn hubby hasn't stayed off his leg, he broke it on Mar. 1, it was a non-displaced fracture, no cast, a boot thing, he was told to stay off it and use crutches for 6 weeks, he had our vet xray it and comparing it to the first xray it doesn't look in place as well. I am not sure what the plan is now, he needs to call the dr he saw for it, I don't know if he will.
It is supposed to be warm the next few days and breezy, I cannot believe how dry it is here.

we are working on plans to take a few days off after Easter, not sure where and what we will do .

thats about it in my neck of the woods, except for keeping a track on what I am eating, I haven't been getting any walking in.

Hi Everybody,

I don't seem to show up here much lately. I don't know where the time goes. Besides doing my reading and studying for BSF, I am starting a weight loss workbook with Christian/Bible based diet The Eden Diet and we have an online meeting tonight. I had to read the book before I start the workbook and the 30 Day Blocks. The weekend after Easter, we are starting a new study at church that will include a workbook and reading a book that goes with it. So busy, busy.

Jane We are having a beautiful week here too. However, there is a sadness over our little block at this end of our street. The man who lived next door to us had a massive heart attack Sunday night and died. He was such a nice man and in his 50s. We were so shocked. Just had dinner with his wife and some other ladies in the neighborhood last Wednesday and less than one week later she is a widow. Brings so many memories of when Bill passed away. My heart grieves for what she is going through. I don't know if she will stay here or move back where her son lives in FL.
On a happier note, I'm sure you are going to have some fun time with you GDs and looking forward to seeing them.

Tammy, Pamb and Chickpanda Glad to have you with us.

Linda Did the floods north of us miss you this time?

Everybody I missed

DH is up and talkative and also getting hungry so better go. Hope to be back more often.

Have a great day.
