Good Morning Girls!
Jada...congrats on breaking the 20's to the teens. I have eaten the same thing for breakfast for the last year. Fiber One, usually a banana on it or fruit in season and topped with 1 Tablespoon flax and homemade yogurt. That clears up lots of thinking/cooking/counting calories in the morning because it's always the same and I never tire of it. I eat a Flat Out with PB2 and lots of lettuce for lunch and raw veggies with Peanut butter dip most days. That also helps clear up time consuming calories counting and thinking up new ideas. That leaves me plenty of time to cook up new and exciting supper meals and I can also eat more high calories foods because I have plenty of calories left.
Susann...that would be great exercise for you pushing your mom and I'm sure she'd love to get out of the house for some fresh air.
Glynne, Isabella, Lynn, the two Karen's, Greetings.

Hi Everyone,

I'll be kind of scarce for a while. I'm teaching a large and busy online course + I have a couple of out-of-state trips planned over the next few months.

I'll try to check in at least once/week.

Lynn

Good Morning ladies,

Good gracious rosey, sorry you had the attack, and glad you are doing better.

Ok, today is the day that I'm going to get started back on target. I have a goal of 10 lbs by July 1st, that is doable. I too eat the same thing for breakfast, bran cereal, banana or/and strawberries, with skim milk. I normally have yogurt and/or a pear for snack, then I have a salad with lots of vegi' and turkey breast and mozzarella cheese with light raspberry vineagrette dressing. And, normally I have chicken breast with vegi's or a grilled chicken salad or a bowl of cereal for dinner. It has worked ok for me so far, if I get a craving for something different, I usually eat it, then go back to the norm.

Congrat's Jada, I think your plan is working.

Ok, off to exercise, today is kickboxing. Everyone have a great day!

Susann

Hi Girls,

I have been absent from the board for awhile. I am feeling very ambivilent about my weight loss. I think I am just in the contemplating stage rather than being ready to actually act on anything. I have not gained anything but I have not lost any weight either. Still struggling to get motivated. I have started my garden work and that usually helps me shed a few pounds. My diet is still really bad although not every meal, every day bad. But last night DH and I went out for ice cream and I know I can never work those calories off. Still, I cannot refuse it. So, I will just hang back for awhile. Thanks for listening.

Hi All!
I'm having a crappy day, my computer has been a naughty girl. I can't copy and paste on this site anymore. I can highlight what you all have to say and paste it but I can't copy/paste a recipe or article from another site unto this one. Anyone else having that problem? I've been working with a microsoft service rep all last week and he hasn't been able to figure it out yet, we're still working on it. I did just contact the 3fat chicks about the problem and haven't heard from them yet.
I also got a phone call this morning about my niece's fiancee, he's in his late 30's, dropped dead last night. The combination of cp problems and his death has my tummy with a icky feeling. I hope this wakes me up a little to start appreciating the health of us, our daughter and grandkids. Speaking of grandkids, Damian's jaw is just about back to normal. He's back in school and Saturday he went back to work for a few hours. (He's 17, has a part time job working at the Dairy Queen)
Anybody have rhubarb bushes? I need to get out and harvest some but don't want to make cake with it. Anyone have a good recipe for Rhubarb Torte?
I need to go out and marinate some elk steaks now, our neighbor down the road went out morell hunting yesterday and brought over a big bag of them to go with our steak tonight. I've never used morell mushrooms before, Bruce wanted me to look up some good recipes for preparing them. I found many recipes but they all suggest dipping in milk or eggs and coating with flour/cracker crumbs, parmesan cheese, crushed corn flakes, etc. That sounds so fattening, how do any of you prepare them?
See Ya!

Hello gals. I've been super busy all weekend. It was the long Victoria Day weekend in Canada and it was mom's 92nd birthday celebrations on Sunday. My sister and niece came and we had open house on Sunday. What a time we had. Mom really enjoyed her day. I was busy all day getting the food ready and my sister was with mom getting her ready. I don't even want to think about what I ate but that's in the past and I'm back counting calories today.

Bobbi, I have rhubarb. I usually put it in the jam I make. It is also good chopped up and put in muffins.

Today I'm working on wedding things again. Only 7 weeks to go and so much to do!!!

Catch you all later.

Hello all,

Hope everyone is doing well. I haven't spent as much time here lately ~ confession: I have been spending a lot of time with that Facebook site. Reconnecting with people and messaging with them. It has been fun. I am not as "into" some aspects of it as much as some of my coworkers are though. They seem to be having fun with an application on there called Farm town. I don't know what it is all about and don't seem to have the patience to play around with that ~ have other things that interest me instead.

I have been doing sewing and crafts lately. That is good I guess ~ keeps my hands busy and out of the food.

It has been beautiful weather here the last few days ~ I was lucky the nice days fell on my days off. I took my lap top and my sewing out on the deck and enjoyed the nice day. And walked too. Gotta keep that up. Had not been as good about doing that lately ~ but really need to try harder to be consistent about that.

Back to work tonight ~ oh well

Take care all

Hi all.........I've been guilty of not posting too. Today we set our alarm for 5:00am and when into town to pick up MIL for all day appointments in Rochester Mayo clinic. We just got around 5;30, what an ordeal. Then my DH couldn't find the car, he ran up and down the 5-6 story car ramp for 45 minutes. The whole time we were waiting out in the front of Mayo building waiting for him, I thought me must have been mugged or in an accident. MIL needs surgery so we'll be back over there on the 27 and 28th. I'm going to see if our DD can go with instead of DH. He just can't handle the ordeal of going up and down and over the corridors of the clinic. I'm famished and going to eat, see ya all!

I'm posting this as an experiment to see if I could get my copy/paste to start working, it appear it does work now after two weeks? You can add green peppers, onions, etc.

Rated: Neat Sloppy Joes

Prep Time: 20 Minutes
Cook Time: 30 Minutes
Ready In: 50 Minutes
Servings: 4

"No green pepper in this recipe, so it's a hit with kids. We added this to the menu at a children's camp, and it has been a favorite for several years. The mixture is thick, so they are 'neat' rather than sloppy. This freezes and reheats well."
Ingredients:
1 pound lean ground beef
1/4 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped celery
1/2 (10.75 ounce) can condensed tomato
soup
2 tablespoons ketchup
1-1/2 teaspoons white vinegar
2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
3/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
4 hamburger buns

Directions:
You have scaled this recipe's ingredients to yield a new amount (4). The directions below still refer to the original recipe yield (8).
1.Place ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook until evenly browned, stirring to crumble. I like to use a potato masher to even out the lumps. Add onion and celery, cover the pan, and cook until tender and transparent, about 5 minutes. Drain off any grease.2.Stir the tomato soup (undiluted), ketchup, vinegar, brown sugar and Worcestershire sauce into the beef mixture. Season with salt and garlic powder. Heat to a simmer over low heat, and cook until thoroughly heated, stirring frequently to prevent it from burning on the bottom.3.Spoon the hot beef mixture onto buns, which may be toasted first, and serve.

I am a total failure! (In the diet department, that is.) It's my birthday and I ate half the cake with ice cream. It's midnight and I'm still full...Even my fingers feel full. Lot's of water and vegetables tomorrow.

I've been so busy this week. I'm dead tired, too. I've been baking for the wedding and freezing it all. I made 118 individual quiche, 123 small apple turnovers, 106 small pigs-in-a-blanket and 133 tart shells. That's why I haven't been posting. I've been too busy and tired. It's midnight now and I'm dropping off the couch I'm so sleepy. Catch up later on this weekend, I hope.
