Happy Mother's Day!
My sons live very far away from me...one in New York and one in Mexico...so I will have to make my own Mother's Day today. It will probably include grocery shopping, cleaning the bathroom, etc., but that's okay. I've had a great vacation week. Perhaps I'll buy myself some flowers at the store.
Have a great day everyone!

Hi everyone - welcome to Maggie and Ruth! Happy mother's day to all the moms. Hey, happy mother's day to everyone! (I love saying it to guys.)
I've been kind of low-key melancholy but sort of peaceful at the same time - so haven't posted much. Car show last weekend was a low-key sort of interesting rather than full-blown fun. A time for everything, I guess.
Enjoy your Sunday, everyone.

Happy Mother's Day all!
Our kids won't be with us either, which actually makes it much easier to stay OP. Mother's Day is the ONE day that I refuse to go out to eat. The lines are long, the food is mediocre at best (ESPECIALLY for vegetarians) and I don't really enjoy all the noise (my hearing aids pick up everything).
Jo - good to hear from you again - we miss you!
Hope you all have a great day!

She's baaaack! I hope all the mothers have had a good day, and all those who have mothers celebrated with them in some way.
Did I mention I was off at a Buddhist event? I think I did somewhere. Well, that's where I was. It was a day-long teaching, and it was quite enjoyable. One of our teachers had a birthday yesterday, so a surprise party was planned. This was after having a Tsok, which is a kind of feast, where everyone brings something as an offering. So, not only did I overeat very strange combinations of food, but there was birthday cake on top of it. I really should have gotten a better grip! When you find yourself chasing down a piece of roast beef with a few M&Ms, you know you've lost it.
I stayed to help clean up after--someone decided we ought to have confetti to throw for the birthday surprise, and naturally there was confetti from one end of the building to the other. Take it from me--if you ever do this--skip the confetti!
The downside was that someone was taking photos, and in the photos I still look heavy. No, not as heavy as I was. I know that. But my mental image of myself has always been slimmer than reality, so it was hard to see that the two still don't match up. Especially while realizing that your plan is off the rails...
The drive over to West Palm Beach from where I live, on the west coast of Fla., is pretty much a straight shot east/west, with some north/south adjustment on either end. Central Florida is rural, and there are huge cattle ranches--also huge citrus orchards--and sod farms. Further south there are large fields of sugar cane. Many of the towns in the middle part of the state are still trying to recover from Hurricane Charley and friends from 2004.
It was a 5 hour drive each way, so I was glad to get home and get to the gym! Yes, I did go. I was so kinked from driving all that time, plus sitting on the floor all day Saturday, that I needed it!

Hi Jay, glad you're back. We drove down to Fort Pierce on Sunday, then down to Jupiter Monday morning, and then back up to Melbourne Beach the same day. But of course the rest of the week, we relaxed on the beach.
We stayed at the most wonderful little place called Tuckaway Shores...it's right on the beach, family owned, and each unit has a kitchenette. Wednesday we drove up to the Cape and toured the Space Center...it was pretty awesome.

Hey! Gosh, we might have criss-crossed each other at some point, Dinah!
I really want to go to Kennedy Space Center someday!

Jay - welcome "home". Sounds like it was an awesome weekend And you are already back on track with your gym visit - you are a ROCK girl!
Don't despair over the pictures. When you are ready to take the next step in your weight loss journey, you will. Think of how far you have come, not about what is yet to be.
We are glad to have you back - the place wasn't the same without you!

Sounds like you guys are keeping busy. My last day at the gym was Wed as I took a few days off before our next trip..we leave tomorrow to visit our dd in UT. I'm trying to track my calories but not always doing well and I know on the trip it will be even harder...went to a buffet today and I did well until dessert....still tonight I haven't eaten much...had a frappe (110 cal for the mix and 30 for the skim milk) and some fruit, that's all. I feel very full actually so may be ok. Unless we go with our dd we won't be at a gym but will be taking care of our 18 mo old gs and that usually helps me lose or at least keep the weight down. ;-)

Hi gang . . .
Still cold and overcast but at least it has stopped raining -- and that rain yesterday did seem to get a little thick at times. The good news is that both the weight and the blood sugar levels have blipped back down to where they belong.
Nothing too exciting going on for me today . . . hope all the rest of you have exciting things planned. Keep yourselves moving and shaking . . .

Hi all, I've done very well yesterday and today. I've eaten very much on plan and I did a 30-minute George Foreman Circuit Walk CD when I got home from work.
AND, I successfully kept myself from the chocolate jar at work. I went to it and started to open it, and said NOPE and walked away. I feel so virtuous! Of course, I still have that key lime pie in the refrigerator..........

Good Morning sleepy heads . . . time to get moving and shaking . . .
Well . . . we have sunshine in Northern Nova Scotia this morning, but it is way too cold for being almost mid-May. Guess I'll try to be happy with the small mercies, though. At least the weight did another little downward 'blip' this am, but the blood sugar did an upward one -- the fact that I forgot to take my evening meds might have had something to do with it of course.
Nothing too exciting in my plans for today -- have to take my friend to the hospital for an intervenous bone-density treatment -- so we will probably do a bit of shopping while we are in the next-town-over anyway. Other than a little time with my Gazelle, guess that will be it for today.
Hope everybody else has some fun stuff planned.

Just a quick fly-by. Worked 13 hrs yesterday, 12 today + church meetings after that.
Doing fine, no real news other than - my bike is supposed to be DELIVERED tomorrow (I'd make that smile bigger if I could).
I'm hoping that it is damage-free. A LOT of Chinese scooters suffer in transit.
Speaking of China - all affected by the earthquake are in my thoughts and prayers.

HI all, What a day. I've been up since 6, worked all day, and am just finished with my homework at 11 p.m.
All of that and to top it all off...a big argument with my husband, who trashed my cooking and then said I over-reacted.
But the good news is that I ate clean, walked again today and once again did not eat any chocolate!
No more whining for me...it's time to make the morning coffee and go to bed.

Good Morning . . . . . . up and at 'em, Chicklets . . . the day is on it's way to you.
Looks like another but relatively cold one around here. At least the wind has settled down. On my little walk yesterday all 220+ pounds of me almost got blown away.
My friend LouLou has another friend who is on the 'vacation of a lifetime' visiting her son . . . guess where . . . they had just left that gigantic Mall when it collapsed. Terrifying experience and it doesn't look like things are improving over there very quickly. Hope she can get a flight out of there soon.
Okay gang . . . have a great day of eating OP and moving and shaking just as much as you can.

I was in the Loma Prieta quake in California in 1989, and I'm here to tell you that anything above 7.0 is really scary and bad news!
I hope you're all going to have a good Wednesday. I'm woefully behind on work--this is now the price I get to pay for having a weekend trip. And, I'll be gone of Friday to a conference all day. Sigh... Think good thoughts for me.
I have made it to the gym and walking, though. It's really just part of what I do these days.
Cheers!
Jay
