Some of you are talking about the snow, we're right smack in the middle of it. They predicted 8-10 inches and the "Today" weather crew are flying to Southern Minnesota (Rochester) for news coverage. Good thing we didn't put our snow shovels away. I had daffodils, tulips, crocus and something else all freeze before they could flower, darn!

So, is everyone here either new or techno-challenged like me? I mean, is there anybody who knows how to set up a new group on 3FC? I mean, we can't stay in introductions forever, can we? Anybody got a NAME for us? Any suggestions? Oldies but Goodies? 50+ Diva-chicks? Still the ONES? Any ideas? Any interest in a group for us grown-ups?

I would love to see this thread bloom into a monthly thread. They had one for 50 + before and it must have died out. I posted a couple of times on it but no one was ever there. I like ~Oldies but Goodies~.

Hello There everyone.
I agree with you Bobbi and Ella --- I like "Oldies but Goodies" too. Today I think we had the 4 seasons all in one day!! Wind, rain, hail, snow and sun!! Of course they are now talking about a major storm coming in tomorrow night into Friday!! Isn't it Spring??? We never can do any kind of planting until after the middle of May since we can still get down to freezing here even into May. I think everyone is getting tired of it though.
Well, hope you have a good evening --guess I'll go and get the kitchen cleaned up from supper and get ready for American Idol, then Dancing With the Stars.
Take care. Karen

What a great group!
Speaking of weights....just did a FIRM workout and my arms feel like rubber bands. Pretty much look like them too LOL. But...its stopped being a chore. I actually enjoy my "me hour" in the evenings. Dont know if I'm losing....trying only to weigh in once a week so as not to feel so frustrated with the post induction crawl.
How's everyone else doing today?

Oh, Yay! Let's DO! (Have our own group, I mean). It looks like we'd have plenty of people posting, don't you think? What about the rest of you? What do you think?
Oh - sorry about your flowers, Bobbi....are they lost or is it still possible to save them? I'm not much of a gardener myself, I'm afraid, tho I DO like to put in some annuals on either side of our front walk, and I have a lot of big potted plants that go outside once the weather warms up. You are BELOW your goal, girl!!!!! Wowie Zowie!!!! Congrats, congrats!
Omigosh, Karen. Your Poms are just adorable! Since DH and I both work and have long commutes, we've had to stick with pets that would be a little more self-engaged than dogs, so we have two very aloof and snotty cats. We love 'em, tho. One thinks she's a dog and DH throws paper balls that she retrieves for him to throw again. Sounds like you'd be better off staying inside to walk away those pounds, m'dear. Good grief! That experience you had sure was scary! And yes, it really IS a small world! Did you ever live here in MA yourself?
Goodyear, it still makes me giggle, thinking of you hiking around that basement of yours - what? Seven thousand times or something?
Oh - ALWAYS weigh in the nude, fahgoodness' sake.....it just makes you FEEL better...
Sharon and Cheryl, you are BOTH weight-loss stars! Wow! There sure is a lot of inspiration around here!
Yoga Booty Ballet, Star? Whazzat????? Would I have to stick my feet up behind my ears or something? Say it isn't TRUE!!!
Hiya Slim me & Open Heart! It's hard but we're on our way, right????
Nelie, you young chickie, you...thanks for posting here. I've read your posts in the "Support" group - and probably in some other places, too, and you've done such an amazing job, and are so knowledgable. I've already learned a lot from you. You really are a wonderful influence on so many of us 3FC-ers.
So, tell me what you all are thinking about a group of our own, okay?
Have a great evening, folks...I will soon be off to bed because I have to be up at 5:30

Good Morning!
I'll get back later to post and comment but right now I'm working with Ruth about finding a good spot for our new thread. Someone said they had one under Weight Watchers but we want a general thread for all kinds of diet plans. She'll get back to me.
Mean while, any other suggestions for a name:
"Golden Oldies"
"Over the Hill Gang" You'd have to have a good sense of humor for that one.
"Goldies but Goodies"
Come on all you genius', lets find a good name that shows all the younger crowd that we still have it. This reminds me of the Maxine joke, "I still have it but nobody wants it!"

Hi, I would love to be in this group.....my name is Phyllis and I post at Calorie Counters (which is what I'm trying to do). I'm 62 years young and proud of it and live in southern Florida.
I love the walking DVD's but at this point only up to 1 mile. I have kidney problems so my eating is a bit challenging and different that is why I do calorie counting.
It is humid right now in FL so the walking DVD is just perfect and you do it in front of your TV in the air conditioning.....I love it!!!
Please post the name of the group and where it will be moving to......
Phyllis

Suzzanne the moderator answered our question, click on the "click here" and it'll take you to the one already started. But looks like she will make a new one this week-end, stay tuned.

The "LINK" open a 50's group that is already started. Is that the one we're all going to join? I though we were starting our own?
Anyway, looking forward to getting to know everyone.
It's really cold here today so i guess it's walk on the treadmill again. We had a few really beautiful days (80's) and I got to walk outside. Afraid it spoiled me. I am sooooo looking forward to some warmer weather.

Good Morning!
Well, we have 10 degrees here this morning!! BRRRR! I walked outside to fill the bird feeder and I just about froze!! They are saying that we could get a foot of snow tomorrow!! I'll be so happy when the weather gets nice and stays that way. Whenever that will be!
So Bobbi, should we just sit tight until after the weekend to see where this goes? I kind of like having this group here and it seems like we are all kind of on the same page.
Ella, when we got married back in 1970 we moved back to MA. for a year but we missed the mountains so much we came back to Colorado. Then for some reason--- we decided to move to PA. after his parents moved there. Again it was just about a year and we came back to Colorado. My family all live in MO. and so every year we take our vacation and go back to PA and MO to visit. Tim's Dad is 89 and mine is 87 so we want to spend our vacation time with them while we can.
Thanks for the compliment on my poms. Ginger is the red one, I got her from the local animal shelter and Sissy is the sable, She was a rescue from a nasty puppy mill!! She is still very leary of my my husband and men in general. In fact, she is really pretty much just attached to me. I bought them a stroller so when I go for the longer walks (whenever the weather turns nice again) they can go too and they won't get tired and make me carry them!! Yeah, I know I have them spoiled!! They have so many toys that it looks like I run a daycare!! I put in a couple pictures. The one of the stroller--- they are both in there if you look close.
Phyllis,Starmuser, the slim me, Cheryl14 and anyone I might have missed--- Welcome to the group. Not sure what is happening with us yet but we'll get it figured out with the help of Bobbi!!
Jenn, with the WATP's videos you can just do them in your house. I really enjoy them. I went and got some 3 pound wrist/ankle weights and I jsut use those instead of buying the weights that she uses in the videos. And I can also use them for other things than just the video. I'm trying to get used to them on my ankles and do the leg strengthening workouts that came with them.
Well, everyone have a good day and I'll check back later.
Karen

I feel the same way! I'd like to start our own group with the name we picked out. We had two calorie counting groups, I voted to stay seperated but the moderators merged us. It got so big and hard to keep up, but we didn't have a vote. That might be what'll happen here. Lets wait and see what happens. If we don't want to join it, we don't have to. We can keep this thread open until we decide.

Thought I'd jump in on the name game:
Getting Better (allthetime) Boomers
Hippy, Hippy Shakers
All Right Mamas
LOL.
P.S. Maybe we older chicks should aspire to bikini-wearing!

I've been reading your posts and would like to join in. I turned 55 last week. I really find that I'm not as flexible as I used to be. I did stretch exercised today with FitTV and my old body just wouldn't bend like it used to. I was stiff and my belly kept getting in the way.
I'm doing the YOU on a Diet mixed in with eating Whole Foods. This weeks has been off program due to leftovers, but today they will all used up and it's back to watching the scale move down. I'm still getting my exercising and walking in, so I'm back down to my pre-holiday weight this morning.

Hi Paula and Gladdy,
I haven't got my walk in today since the humidifier decided to leak overnight and I've been using the carpte shampooer to suck up water all morning!!! Maybe I can figure that in as exercise!!
I'm so glad that I talked hubby in to eating out for Easter--- I didn't have to worry about the leftovers. I know I wouldn't have been able to ignore them. I'm hoping even with the meal at lunch for Easter I will have at least maintained and not gained when I weigh on Friday.
Now that my routine has been messed up this morning I think I will continue to just clean house and laundry and then be right back to my WATP's in the morning!
Have a good day. Karen

Hi All!!! (Oh, such cute pics of your Poms, Karen!)
Just a quick hello as I'm at work here, and peeping in to see what's up
I've noticed that in the category "miscellaneous clubs" some people just post a thread and everybody just keeps posting to that thread like we've done with this one, and then when it gets up to five or six pages - or ten or something - somebody starts a new thread, and just sends everybody from the old thread a link to the new one.
That way, we could maybe stay a little smaller and get to know each other better and also, we'd be able to give everybody a turn having their choice of name.
What do you all think?
I agree that if it gets really large, it's hard to keep up with.
Snow here tomorrow, and a large storm predicted for this coming Monday -the day of the Boston Marathon, which may end up cancelled. Can you imagine???? I don't think I ever remember it's being cancelled for snow! Whatever is going on with the weather these days?????
I made myself some tuna fish salad last night to bring for my lunch at work today. I found these loverly lo-cal (60) high fiber (4 grams) Pita breads that work so nicely for lunches from home. I chopped onions and red & green peppers into the tuna, used low-fat/low-cal Miracle Whip to mix it, and was REALLY LOOKING FORWARD to having it for my lunch. I packed the tuna and bread separately so my pita wouldn't get soggy. At lunch time, I made myself a really bee-yoo-ti-ful sandwich, took a bite, and didn't like it. Jeeze. Too much onion and pepper, not enough tuna. Tasted pretty yukkie, actually. I forced myself to eat it, because I don't want to be so ravenous at supper that I eat more than I should, but I. Really. Didn't. Enjoy. it. It's the first time, since I've been doing this *healthy eating* that I have actively disliked something I was eating. And I have another whole half of a tupperware container back in my refrigerator at home that I'll have to do SOMETHING with. DH HATES tuna. Woe is me!!!!
Okay.
Talk soon..
Ella
