Petra, not sure if you're flying into Philly, ABE or Newark, but I think things are getting back to normal...though - our weather forecast is now looking like possible freezing rain at the end of the week, so keep a close eye on your flight...here's to a hassle free flight! Also - good luck with the chocolate...milk chocolate is like my lover, but not fond of dark chocolate. Hope it doesn't trigger anything.

Cassie- yikes, make a list - stick to it, and head out early!!!! Good luck getting all your shopping in. Also some places still do overnight shipping if you shop online. Gift cards are a quick last minute item when you get overwhelmed also! You can do it!!!!

I've discovered another Wii sport that I think could be a real calorie burner and is fun-fencing. This is actually really funny. I enjoy violent video games although there is nothing violent about me as a person. It's something you would never expect. I love to shoot things, blow things up, and now I have discovered I love to slash people with a sword, doesn't it figure. Maybe this is how I get out my frustrations vicariously. However, I don't like the ones that have real blood and guts, just fantasy violence. I seem to be reliving my adolescence.

OnMyWay – trust me, I don’t need to try on the dress to know it doesn’t fit… I used to be rail thin and fit. Um, not so much right now… But maybe one day?? I don’t know… I don’t have a goal to be that thin again, but I certainly wouldn’t complain if it were to happen…

Petra – I love your new avatar, and I can definitely see the change in your face… (I haven’t gone an looked at your butt yet, LOL!) Also, don’t worry about the wrinkles; they are a badge of honor. And so much healthier than carrying around excess weight! Nice job on the dog rescue.. . I’m sure the owner was very appreciative.

LambChop – sorry that you have a cold coming on again; that’s a drag!

WeightLossWanted – sorry it didn’t work out with the apartment… And too funny about the redneck complaint! I must have missed it, what kind of call center do you work in? I’m having a hard time picturing calling someplace and having the person be artfully cheesy to me on the other end. What does that even mean?? I conduct interviews over the phone, and the most important thing for my success is to establish rapport at the outset. It would be hard to do that if someone gave me a “style” to follow that wasn’t my own… Also, so how did you prepare the chicken, and what’s the plan? To freeze the meals?

Marie – your furniture sounds wonderful!! As did your breakfast!

ICUWishing – Wow, look at you in that dress – you look gorgeous!! I’m glad you had a wonderful meal…

Me, well, we had our big Chanukah celebration yesterday and all the food was sinful. So, my weight is up. I need to be extremely conscientious the rest of the pre-holiday since we have a gathering on Thursday night and Friday morning. But then the holidays are over and normal life will resume again… Oh, and as for snow. Here in Pittsburgh, at my house, we only had 4 – 5”, nothing big.

Petra, I admit the sagging skin is sort of yucky but it is so much better than the fat was. So it’s a trade off. I’d much prefer the skin problem as most is easy to hide under clothes. And plastic surgery is semi affordable. Definitely put a KA on your rewards list. If mine died tonight, I’d have another tomorrow. That’s how much I love and depend on mine.

Lamb, I hope you feel better quickly. My dogs weren’t allowed on the couch originally with pup #1. She and #2 never climbed up. Then I got sick with bronchitis and was stuck on the couch. I patted the couch once, dear pup#1 jumped up and the rest is history. Bad me… I needed her comfort that day.
WLW, enjoy your Christmas celebration. Pretty neat you get to celebrate several times. I’m glad the 2#s are gone.

ICU you look awesome. What a beautiful dress. No wonder you kept it so long.

Newleaf, ah I really dislike Pittsburg after this afternoon. Your Steelers stole my Packers’ victory. Besides the horrible football day, I’m thankful you had a nice holiday celebration.

Weighing in on the chocolate like meter (for me it’s the love meter) I’m a dark chocolate fan. I really like 85%. I don’t like milk chocolate because I keep searching for the utopia that the real cocoa flavor brings. So I just eat and eat and am never satisfied.

So do you all remember my Moose Munch obsession? That I’d come to the conclusion that abstinence and tiny portions weren’t working – that I’d binge until I hated it? Well I bought my Moose from Costco and brought it home. I looked at the calorie contents and nearly puked. For ½ cup – 200 calories. Picture a ½ cup measurer and wasting 200 cals for such a pathetic amount. 200 calories!!! What is that – 4 to 5 popcorns??? That did my obsession in. You couldn’t pay me to have any now. So I’ve had Moose in my house since Friday and I decided DS and soon to be DIL have stocking stuffers.

I’m bummed weekend is over but it is a short week. And the district will be mostly deserted. I’m looking forward to quiet. I also have to buy DGS another stocking as his mother took it when she moved out. And of course Sasha needs a stocking. I counted cross stitched DGS nameplate but Sasha’s didn’t get done during the football yucky day. Hopefully tomorrow night or Tuesday. Or I’ll pin a piece of paper to her stocking with her name on it and make it for next year.

Another weekend comes to an end! Got a lot of baking done, the new mixer works like a charm, and so easy! Attended a holiday party last night. Managed to maintain control and didn't overindulge.

Finished my shopping and most of my wrapping. MIL arrives Wed., still have to clean house. DD and I are going to see White Christmas on Tuesday evening. It's one of my favorites. Unfortunately, I have to work M, T, and W this week. My district is one of the few in or area that has school this week. No use complaining about it, I can't change it!

We only got a dusting of snow here but expecting more this week. A white Christmas would be nice.

ICU, you look great!

I'm dreaming of a White Christmas
Just like the ones I knew before
Where the treetops glisten
and children listen
to hear sleigh bells in the snow...........

I started packing yesterday, packed my boots, sweaters, turtlenecks, heavy socks. I'm ready

Tried on another pair of size 16 pants this morning. A pair of khakis and I can get them on and zipped-not sure I would want to wear them anywhere just yet but this is definately a good sign.

Dogs are definately allowed on the furniture in my house. In fact, my dogs destroyed my living room/family room furniture when I lived in PA and before I got new furniture I researched to find something they couldn't destroy. The sofa I have in my keeping room (I have a big kitchen that includes a sitting area but its not exactly a great room) is indestructible. The company that made it guarantees it cannot be destroyed due to regular use for at least 10 years. Kobe, my lab, sleeps with me and likes to get under the covers which is hysterical. Most big dogs don't do that. He's a big baby.

Lamb: I'm flying into Philly

WLW: If you like your chiken marinated a certain way, you can actually freeze it in the marinade and then when it defrosts, its ready to go. Nifty trick. I have one with balsamic vinegar that I particularly like if you want the recipe. Great on salads or in wraps. I'm also a big fan of Tandoori chicken. I made some last month and froze a couple pieces. Just took them out of the freezer over the weekend to use in wraps this week for lunch with some yogurt cucumber sauce (sort of like tzatziki, if you know what that is).

Petra, that's funny about the games...My son has a Wii, and i got really into one or two of them. We chose furniture with the dogs in mind too...looked for forgiving fabric. I also fly out of Philly too...just partial to it I guess

NewLeaf - glad you didn't get buried in snow. I'm glad you're enjoying your celebration, but yeah, i'm like that with vacations too...glad to have the normal routine and eating back

Marie- funny about the dogs! So glad the reality slap of calories helped you kick the Moose Munchies

WLW - good job on not overindulging!

--

I checked in with a running group I talk with, and they said it's okay to run with a head cold, if it's in the chest, not okay...so I'm good to go. I have 2+ miles today and 4 miles on Wednesday to do.

I woke up to another pound gone - so I'm really thrilled I stayed out of the goodies in the house. I swear DH was snacking about every hour or two the entire weekend - how he didn't drop into a sugar induced coma is beyond me! LOL ...but I stayed strong.

Christmas Eve I'll choose one small treat at our celebration, and I have a brownie in the freezer for Christmas - but I may wait until New Year's Eve for the brownie - so I'm not having two snacks like that so close together. We'll see how I do Christmas Eve.

OMW, I’m glad you’re enjoying your new mixer. As I made sourdough bread yesterday I thought of you while it was kneading the dough for 12 minutes. I wouldn’t be able to move my hands if I’d kneaded dough that long. Good luck with all the cleaning while working. I think it’s a losing battle.

Petra, what an excellent idea on adding the marinade to the chicken before freezing. I love it. Sounds like you’re almost set for your trip north and I take it that your on call week is much better than the last one.

Lamb, good luck on the run. I’ve also heard the same about the head-ok to exercise / chest-not ok to exercise belief. Because I tend to have chest colds hang forever, I usually stop heeding that advice.

My co-worker and I took a brief trip to the store and I found wonderful ornaments for those I didn't yet buy. And I found a doggie stocking for Sasha and the cutest stocking for DGS. I'm getting so close to being done. For an afternoon break, I'll head to Fred Meyers - the store that has everything to finish up. Yes, I am so working hard...

Marie - good deal on finding those last minute ornaments

I did run 2 miles and felt fine - relieved! I thought it would be icky - but my body did what it needed to do

Newleaf-don't know why the link to my blog didn't work. You can find it here: http://3fatchicks.com/diet-blogs/petra65/ It's called Lying on the Couch-good name for a blog from a psychiatrist.
