xena~ I am with ya on the binge,, I have not done it at all in 5 months, however, the more my financial troubles are getting, and stress from alot of things going on right now. I could so easily snuggle with with some NO NO food and be at piece till I was done, but just knowing the devastating feeling afterwards is what keeps me strong!

Hi All!

OK... TFFY -- I'm so glad you clarified that.. I read that sentence three times trying to figure out the whole "the other half took the rest of the day" thing. I figured SOMETHING was missing there... heh heh

Kayley-- can't WAIT to hear about the whole Medievel thing... sounds like a GREAT time. I went to something similar in England when I was a teenager and thought it was the coolest thing. I'm so glad you're going to let yourself let loose a bit. Truly, if this is going to be a life change for all of us, we have to live life, right? yay for you!

Have to share a funny thing that happened this weekend. We went to give blood at the Red Cross -- kind of a ritual every 2 months. It's actually kinda cool--- the Red Cross staff have gotten to know us and they are always so nice; when I go to get on the gurney thing to give blood, Millie -- who works there, brings me a bottled water and when I got done and went over to the little "snack area" she said "would you like your diet coke now?" Ha! better than having your favorite waiter know your "usual"...well.. maybe not. but funny. ANYWAY........ I was finished filling the pint bag and the nurse lady took the needle out and was doing her thing and, all of a sudden, blood was squirting all over!! It got on me, on her, on the floor all over the equipment. She just kind of froze, not sure at first whether it was coming out of ME or out of the tube she has just taken out of my arm. And, because it's blood, and you have to be so careful, I think she just wasn't sure what to do. Needless to say, it was a mess.... funny... but a mess.

This has been such a good break from the craziness of work. Today the highlight of the day was buying a new wheelbarrow and a great new table for the deck. (Gotta love LOWE's and BED, BATH, AND BEYOND). Decided that it wouldn't be too great to go hang out at the pool since 2 days in a row left me with some tender sunburned shoulders. First time I'd put on the old bathing suit this season, though. But the sunburn is fine, and I got a lot of things around the house done today --- gotta get ready for that party of 50 next weekend. eek. Since I do this every year FOR my staff, I dont want anyone to feel like they have to bring anything, so...... the rest of the week will be focused on finding time to shop for food and prepare stuff. But it's fun, and thank goodness I live with someone who loves to cook and prepare for parties as much as I do.

And .... speaking of parties.... I don't think I'm going to get to MINUS 50 by the time I go to Michigan to visit my family since I was up this past week. But.. since they don't know that I'm even doing this at all, I guess I'm hopeful they will notice a change. (I think it was Brenda who asked if they know..... and nope.. they don't). BUt my sister and brothers and I are planning a party for my parents anniversary---so the WHOLE family will be there. Can't wait.

Gotta go start the grill.... and end my rambling. Boy, I don't post hardly at all for weeks and now you can't get me to shut up.

Have a great day/evening everyone!! HUGS TO YOU ALL.

Just thought I would say Hi, I'll post very sporadically work/life seems to get the best of me so often lately. But I figured a place to vent might save my friends some sanity, unless you have been here (morbid obesity land) you just can't really get what someone else is going through. So Maybe this will save their ears. I'm trying yet again, determined yet again... I won't let a depressive episode throw me this time!

Hello ladies...and thanks for the warm welcome

I have been on my journey since September 10, 2005. I had just started nursing school and it was my first clinical day that turned me around. My first patient was a 36 year old male who weighed 400 lbs (I was 381 at the time). Anyway he was dying of end stage renal failure. He had diabetes and all types of Ulcers and other health related problems. It scared me so bad that I had to make a change. I started by just eating on the Special K challenge. I used that plan until about seven days ago when I picked up a copy of South Beach diet. I even have my DH on the plan he has about 50 pounds he wants to shed. Anyway I really like this group of people and the many threads. I am inspired by everyone and all the weight loss success. I am so thrilled when others shed weight. I want to cheer for every pound loss!

Every pound counts..

Have a great night ladies

DH worked 6am-2pm and then got the news that he had to go back for 5-7pm to cover someone....ugh...he's gonna have over 100 hours on payday! Nice $$, but too much work for him!! It's STILL boiling hot here...ick! I keep wanting to try a little strength training session, but it's too hot for anything...even with my sad fan pointed on me. Anyways, I'll post more later...I gotta get some ice water!
Stay OP chickies!!

"I am drinking water like I stole it..." CROCK - I am SOOOO stealing this line!!!!

Oh, AMMI, I don't mind that the thread changes. I just type so slow sometimes that when I start I'm entry 26 or so, and by the time I finish, everybody else has "left the building."

OK, MISTI, I just KNOW I have a pedometer here SOMEWHERE...

KAYLEY, Kissing frogs is over rated... TRUST me on this one! Now kissing puppies on the other hand...

NANCY, if you like sci-fi/fantasy, don't get started on Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series! It will swallow you up and we may never hear from you again!

RKRS - What a scare to see that poor man like that, but perhaps what a blessing too. Glad to hear your DH is with you on SB. That makes meal planning so much easier. Mine is very supportive & eats whatever I put in front of him, but he's just decided he's 50# overweight, too. You'll find several of us are on SB, and of course there's a whole thread dedicated to it. I hear the menu thread has some good stuff, too, but I haven't gotten there yet...

So sorry - EVERY BODY just called and said they'll ALL be home in 20 minutes expecting the cars in the drive moved, the schedule for the movies nailed down, and plans for dinner made... none of which have I started. So, I'll have to catch up again later.

But just cuz it's already been such an awesome day I gotta tell you I worked out this a.m. which was great, then spent over 6 hours at the barn AND paid all my credit cards bills on time. Lots of exercise, and I ate REALLY well! I just feel so good!

Val: Good job on such a productive and op day. The bear was really cool to see and about the fish, We got skunked. Well, hubby caught about 10 of them, or the same one over and over, anyway it was a fresh water Perch and much too little to keep. So, throw him back every time. Came home with no fish but really relaxed. I got to float around in the lake.

Crock: even though Yogi, bear we saw, was cinnamon in color he is still considered a North American Black Bear. They come in lots of colors. The last time I saw a bear, I was riding bare back on a horse I was testing to see if I wanted to purchase him or not. I was only 17 and my horse was doing a snort dance for about 1/2 mile. Finally I rounded a corner and saw a big black bear in the middle of the road. He just looked at us and walked up the hill. I love them. They are magnificent animals. You could always come and stay with us. I love archery too. LOL.

Ammi: Thanks so much for putting the photos up. You are so smart. I appreciate it so much.

Nancy, Xena, thanks for the kind words about our new place. It is only about 17 miles from a city but it is so rurual and in the woods. Elk and deer all over it. Maybe moose and bear. WE live in the wilderness where the deer and the antelope roam. LOL. NOt really the antelope are a bit further south. When you drive down there you can see herds of over 300 of them. We do have moose, elk, bear, wolves and up a bit higher the grizzly bear.

Mel: Cool red cross story.

Silentarctic: Welcome. I'll be looking forward to getting to know you.

Blessings all,
Happy 4th of July.

Silentartic and rkrs, Welcome to our little cyber family, grab a chair, and a keyboard and hop right in, I look forward to getting to know you guys..

rkrs~~congrats on the 65 lbs lost so far,, you go girl!

Well I am admitting a bump in the road, I had some beef hot dogs ((plain)) today, they were not fat free as South Beach recommends, and some long horn cheese , not sure about it as well ..today I will consider a BUMP in the road, I will know Sunday on WI day if today was a big NO NO>. I will only admit to one day as a BUMP two is not good.. Things will get better, it just has too... Take Care Everyone

Dogpal/annie~~ We need to exchange emails so we can share scenery pics.. PM me when you get time.

oh,, And I am glad my comedic sense of humor came out in the statement about the water, and hope it helped anyone through the day..LOL..

Ammi raised a question about the thread changes. Our moderator (thinthinker) has mentioned this before and I don't recall all the details, but I thought they change at 30 not because of the dial up but because of counting purposes. That is, if you know each thread lasts about 30 posts its easier to keep track of the total posts.

I don't know if longer threads would take longer to download in dial-up, as you can change the number of posts that post per page in your options. I have broadband and choose 40, but if you want faster download, choose fewer posts/page -- wouldn't that work?

Anyway, I'm all for longer threads but not enough to get upset about it!

Xena -- Thanks for explaining why you kept the candy. I'm always fascinated by our differences and similarities. I mean, we're all fat, but we don't all have the same reasons behind our obesity and different issues affect. I see this with my husband and I all the time. In some areas we are alike, but in more ways, we are different.

And thanks for your sweet words about me being a mentor! One of the things I love about these boards is that I think we can all find inspiration in each other.

Ammi -- I am thrilled about being 200 -- one miniscule pound from onederland! Of course, it's not like life is going to get perfect and all my problems will go away when I lose that next pound (it's onederland, not wonderland, right?), and I have to keep reminding myself of that. But getting into the 100s will be symbolic of how far I've come.

Kayley -- I may not make it to onederland next week (or 100 pounds lost in a year), but I'm GOING to hit both of those goals and that's not something I would have believed possible a year ago.

There are a lot of success stories here, people who are Big Losers (including but not limited to Zelma, Julee, Kayley, Crock, and our missing Catherine), but for people struggling I just want to say this: There is no difference between me and you. I have found a groove (and hope I never lose it). But before that, I was the very fat woman who had no will power, who couldn't stick to a "diet". Eventually, I was the woman who knew she would be fat forever.

I don't know exactly what happened to change that, but I believe I can do this now (not so sure I can keep it off forever, but I'm willing to try). And I just have to say this: If I can do this, you can do this. I know I heard people say that before, and I never believed them. And I know it sounds stupid and trite but it is completely true.

Okay, I have to run before I finish personals, but I hope everyone has a good 4th!
