Good Morning!

Ubee I did not end up buying the syrup, it was just there to add to the coffee. But I would consider buying it if I saw it again. Glad to hear you are your regular self again and yes the support of others is important. My husband and my sister were great supports to me during my health issues. The surgery itself does not affect weight loss but the balancing of my medications does. It has been almost a year since my surgery and I still don't have the right balance. I have no thyroid so I must take pills to mimic having one as they thyroid is the core for so many body functions such as metabolism. They keep increasing my dosage. If the dose is not enough then I am tired all the time. I see my endocrinologist in 3 weeks and will know if I need another adjustment. I also have an ultrasound next week so hoping for an all clear again.

Terra1984 Hello and thanks for the welcome. Is Clyde a dog or? I had dogs for years and I can relate to the accidents as they age. I now have two cats as I do not have the space or time for a dog but hope to have one again someday. Are you going to school and if so what are you studying?

Betsy Happy Birthday!!!! I hope you have a wonderful day. What do you plan on eating at the Thai restaurant? Do you have any favourite dishes. I love coconut rice, pad thai and spicy eggplant.
I am so happy to live somewhere where I have access to health care. I also have a good plan at work which I cannot imagine living without. As I age I have had health issues that wold have cost me so much money I would have had to do without certain meds etc.
I think when I turn 50 there will be many more community programs I can access for less money such as swimming at the community centre.

I am here at work again with a skim latte and reading posts and posting. I enjoyed the indian food I had last night before class and just had some yogurt when I got home. I have had serious GERD, with none of the typical burning sensations at all but horrid chest cramps and so forth. So badly that I went to ER ar the urging of my DR thinking it was heart but I have had two stress tests, other tests and it is not heart. Specialist says GERD. Anyway the full fat good type of yogurt (with live cultures/organic) has helped so much. Of course I need to not eat 3 hours before bed etc. But I need to plan to eat before I go out to class or to the pool at night. It is just too many WW points and a waste of money too. I would rather go out on the weekend. So my goal is to buy things I can carry for dinner on those days. I will just have to suck it up and carry my lunch and dinner on long days. sigh

I get off early as I have a therapy group I attend on Thursdays. But I will not be home until after 7:30 and I have to stop by the pet store for kitty food and liner bags.

Have a great day all.

Good Morning!
Cool, dark, misty day today. Met a friend for coffee and had a no no treat. Today will be a day of cleaning as I will be getting official company today. I need to work on not feeling like I need a sweet treat every time I am having a special visit. I feel every time is a special time because let's be honest it is.
Andrea will be keeping an all clear ultra sound in my prayers. So, what is the story with dragging your meals with you? Is it the planning? Getting it done in time, or you need new ideas?
Dean good morning my coffee mate!
Shan so glad you got to see your concert even if it did not turn out as planned it still sounds nice.
Have a peaceful day!

Hi All,

The boss is away so I have time to actually do a quick post here at work. I'm sorry I haven't checked in with everyone this past week...It's been kinda brutal...

On Sunday I weighed in and I had gained a pound. I figured it was due to the excess drinking of water this week because yes, Betsy and Donna you guys were right and there is such thing as drinking too much water and it can damage and hinder your weight loss. I wasn't really thinking that day and just thought the more I drink, the more I could flush my system out. It was a stupid thing for me to do and I am just going to keep drinking what I need to stay hydrated. From what I read online you should take your body weight and divide it in half, and that is how many ounces you should drink on a daily basis. For me, right now I should be drinking about 131 oz, which is just over a gallon a day.

I had Monday off and for the first time in awhile, I've had a full blown TOM..Sorry to anyone who has a weak stomach. I won't get into gory details but it has been so bad for me this week that I haven't even chanced working out. The stomach pain is terrible and anytime I move I worry about having an accident like I did on Tuesday at work and had to go home and change. That hasn't happened to me since middle school and I was so embarassed.

I am still staying OP with my eating this week but honestly my appitite hasn't been there much. I haven't been eating as much as I probably should, I'm just not that hungry. Maybe it's because of the TOM. DH has decided to go back on his plan 100% because he's tired of feeling like crap so we've been having lots of salads for dinner this week. I don't really mind but it does kinda stink to have salad for lunch and dinner every night lol...I think tonight we're going to make a shepherds pie type dish with some ground turkey we have or some sort of healthy casserole thing.

I'm glad I have a short work week this week as the past few weeks have just been so busy with me with having my regular work week and then having to do weddings on the weekends or other things that need to be done, I haven't felt like I've had a nice relaxing weekend in about a month. This weekend I'm supposed to take my mother's dining room table and her matress so she can slowly move things out of her storage unit. So needless to say I need to get my horrid house in order by the weekend. I'm trying to rely on DH but with his depression he's had lately, and he is very OCD with organization I just can't get him to do much without me there doing it too. So hopefully tonight we can do something and we'll both be in the mood.

I won't do personals but did want to say happy belated birthday to Betsy. I hope you enjoyed yourself!

Catch up soon! Love you guys!

Good morning chicks (and our resident rooster). More rain during the night so Toby came in with wet paws and a muddy face. Just something I have learned to accept as part of living in the NW.......which makes me glad that I have just area rugs.

Thanks for the birthday wishes, except for our resident funny girl, Ubee......really, I don't think I'm so old that I'm ready for setting any world records other than being the oldest person alive who still is trying to get weight off so she can resume "normal" activities like hiking and dancing. OK, maybe that's deserving of a footnote in the Are-you-kidding-me section.

Sam -- Glad to see your post, but it does sound like you're going through the wringer right now. In addition to TOM potential problems, stress can also impact weight loss. That's my excuse for the 30 years I worked.......highly stressful jobs (it had nothing to do with stuffing my face at every available opportunity!). I'm glad you researched the water drinking and hope that things calm down for you.

Ubee -- So glad you came back from Weirdville to add that spark of humor to our daily trudge through the on plan efforts! The furnace is on. Now I just have to accept that leaving the door to the deck open for Toby is probably the reason for the draft blowing across my feet (and the high heating costs!). I know what you mean about having a forbidden with every event. Is it part of our being Midwestern? Yeah, let's go with it's a cultural issue.

Andrea -- We ended up having Chinese because my nephew went with us and he's currently competing for pickiest eater in the world over the age of 2. (OK, I seem to be on a bit of the roll with the sarcasm today.) Anyway, I thought he would have more options and since I love just about any Asian cuisine, I was happy. Your patience and acceptance of dealing with your medical issues has made me look at myself as I am the world's worst patient. Hope that ultrasound comes back clear -- you've been through a lot. The GERD is definitely something to watch as you can end up with a damaged esophogus where it goes into the stomach.

Dean -- Sitting here having my white chocolate sugar free syrup in my coffee. You are a good influence for finding acceptable ways to feel as though we're having a special treat.

Shan -- $250!!!!! You can tell it's been awhile since I went to a concert. But, if it's been a lifelong dream (or half life), then what the heck. Hope you were still able to enjoy the concert in spite of the requirements.

Off to the gym, with a stop at the gas station to get some air in my tires. One of them looks really low, and I'm hoping that it'snot a slow leak. House cleaning this afternoon and maybe a couple of loads of laundry. More birthday stuff this weekend (I believe in birth month or at least birth week) and then I'm hitting the road. Have a great day everyone.

Betsy ~ Yeah most of weeks are busy, LOL that my schedule would wear you out. Happy Belated Birthday, I hope you had a nice birthday yesterday

Ubee ~ Yes I do plan to buy alot of veggies and salad fixings.

Pluckypear ~ Clyde is a dog, He turned 16 on Aug. 1st. He's a long haired chihuahua, I've been his owner since 2000 when I adopted him from my aunt a year after my grandma passed away, He was my grandma's dog at first. Yeah I go to school but it isnt a public or private school, Its just a place that I call school cause I learn things whenever I go there. I go there for cooking class each week even though I know how to cook, I like cooking though so I went ahead and joined the cooking class,I'm also in charge of the peer support group and I belong to one other group at ILRC, It stands for Independent Living Resource Center.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I woke up at 6 am this morning but I didnt have to start waiting for my bus until 9:25 am, I chose to go to school later then usual which made my cooking class teacher nervous cause I'm usually there by 8 am. So I guess I will stick with getting there at 8 am so my cooking class teacher doesnt have to worry if I'm gonna be there or not. I came home after cooking class though cause I started to get a migraine and when I get one of those I usually end up getting sick so I wasnt able to have peer support class today. My migraine went away finally at 4 pm when I took a migraine pill after I woke up from my nap, I took a nap when I got up at 1 pm and then I woke up at 3 pm and took my migraine pill but it didnt go away until 4 pm. I didnt end up getting sick so I could of stayed at school but I just never know if I will or not so its best to go ahead and go home just in case. Tomorrow I have an appointment to go too and then Saturday Scott and I are going to his nephew and his nephew's wife's house to meet his new great nephew. I have my monthly doctor's appointment on Tuesday so I hope to see a good loss, Crossing my fingers. Have a good night all. Take Care.
Betsy...I love the idea of an extended birthday.....I have tried that myself but never seem to get away with it! We built a porch to absorb some of the dog-mud stuff but it still seems to walk in by itself...mind you we now have 4 dogs so one can hardly be surprised!
Plucky pear...how wonderful to see you back with us. I am so sorry for your health problems.....and I hope that your GERD (we call it GORD) is settled....horrendous pain.
Sam....I remember see on the TV that some dieters have died due to hyperhydration...I am relieved that you haven't had any nasty side effects. Sorry your TOM is so awful.......something to be said for getting older and having less of that sort of thing to worry about!
Shan...I paid £100 to see Madonna a few years ago...she had been my idol for years ......and frankly she was a bit rubbish! Her old songs were OK but she just seemed to be going through the motions and I was deeply disappointed. The Rolling Stones on the other hand were unbelievable. I had tickets for my 40th and wasn't a huge fan but my goodness they were brilliant!
Well..... I have now run out of time as I have to take my boy for a blood test but will post later about yesterday's Therapy sessions and a special sheep update for Ubee....if somebody can tell me how to upload a photo I have a great sheep photo!!
Mom is making beef and bean chili for dinner tonight cause its getting cooler during the day now. Its starting to finally feel like fall. Anyway as always I'm gonna get my 30 min to hour evening walk done and I'm gonna get my 2 miles with my dvd later on tonight also and thats it.
Hello my chicken friends.
Oh my what a rubbish few days!
My little boy very kindly shared his bug with me and I spent Saturday...well......both ends......is all I'm saying! Still not quite back to normal today so have had to cancel my therapy session for the third time!
Still, I went last Thursday and each time I go I feel I have unravelled a bit more of the jumbled knitting wool in my brain! It's all around a way of interpreting your current behaviour patterns with reference to past experiences. It makes so much sense and has started to make me a lot less self critical.....and BOY!.....do I need that!
I am not quite up to personals today but keep on my friends....big hugs,
Donna
Good Morning!
Great weekend, walked around the foothills fall festival (bunch of local artist and craftsmen) on Saturday and had a rescue group meeting/potluck at the park and took our doggies on Sunday. Feeling pretty good and will think about the scales later in the week (still trying not to obsess over the scale, but eat healthier and smaller portions).
Autumn Blend with a touch of sugarfree hazelnut syrup this morning.
Good Morning!
I am doing the usual workday ritual. I am here early, alone in the office, sipping my skim latte and now on 3fatchicks. I likely will not be on much on the weekend as I am usually busy.
Ubee I bring my lunches everyday to work but what I struggle with is when I have late days such as Wednesday I have french class from 6-9 pm after work and some days I go to the pool from 7-8 after work and so I should eat my dinner after work and before class. I just don't want to carry more food, I take transit to work and home each day. On Wednesdays my french textbook is very heavy and I try to walk to and from the subway which is a 15 minute walk each way. I realize I am whining. LOL I guess I just need to suck it up and carry a sandwich or something light for my dinners on those days. Thanks for asking Ubee you helped me work it through.
SamIam Hello. There is no need to be embarrassed although I get it, we have all been there. At least all us women. You sound super busy and like you have enough on your mind without worrying about this. This too shall pass.
A pound up or down will happen and good job on drinking your water. It is better to see a temporary fluctuation then to not get enough water. And good job on all the weight you have lost.
BetsyNice to hear you had a good birthday and Chinese food is a favourite of mine.
Terra So sweet you took Clyde in and I am sure he is adorable. What dishes are you learning to cook? I work in a college and as staff we get to take courses at a discount. We have a large chef program and I have thought about taking some cooking courses such as vegetarian Indian cooking.
mountain walkerHello yourself. Four dogs must keep you very busy. I had two at one time and they were a handful. I have not been to any major concerts in long time but some musicians should retire when they have lost their voices etc. The last major concert I went to was the White Stripes but it was affordable. I want to see Donny and Marie Christmas in December but the tickets are already minimally available and for good seats it would be around $280 but for two tickets. I loved them as a child and had a huge crush on Donny for years. I saw him in "Joseph and the Amazing technicolor-ed coat" years ago and he was actually really good. I may still go but I need someone to go with as it is not worth it for my husband as he does not even like them. sigh
Hope you feel better. My DH gave me his cold and I am working through it. Well time to get ready for the start of another work day. I start at 8:30 but am usually here around 7:30. I have a meeting after work and then home around 8. I hope to have time to nip home to have a quick dinner before my meeting though.
Have a good day all.
Pluckypear ~ Yeah I couldnt let him go to the pound. I havent learned to cook anything new yet. Most of the dishes we make I already know how to cook but its still fun and I like having lunch with people, I dont like eating alone. Thats cool that you might take some cooking classes at your college.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I woke up at 8:30 this morning and I let Clyde outside and he's still outside now cause its so nice outside, He's enjoying it. Its now almost 11 am. I've ate breakfast already. I dont know what I'm gonna have for lunch. Anyway I'm gonna take a shower later on today and I'm gonna go for my 30 min/hour evening walk outside after dinner and my 2 miles with my dvd tonight and thats it.

Good morning all. We're back to rainy weather (normal for this time of year) after an absolutely gorgeous Indian summer day yesterday -- got up into the 70s.

Dean -- Sounds like you had a great weekend. Fall festivals are so much fun especially living in an area where fall is one of the beautiful seasons. The potluck sounds like fun, too, and for a good cause. Did everyone bring their furry part of the family?

Terra -- I bought a small RV 4 years ago which is used by the entire family as well as very trusted neighbors. I'm going over to the ocean for a few days and then meandering around coming home. I haven't been out in the RV all season, so I'm ready.

Andrea -- Does your workplace have a refrigerator with a freezer? Maybe you could put a few frozen entrees in. Or some of the soup-in-a-cup soups are quite good and reasonable as far as calories and carbs. Maybe take in a couple at a time until you get a stash. I know what you mean about trying to get someting to eat on nights where you're working or going to class so late. Those are the nights when I would end up just eating junk by the time I got home - or worse eating something out of the vending machine.

Donna -- So sorry you got the creeping crud from your son, but hope this means that he's doing better. The only positive side is that I usually lose weight when I have intestinal flu. Gllad the therapist visits are providing so much fodder and understanding. I've always thought that when obesity got to the point where the medical profession realized it needed to be treated in a manner other than -- you need to lose weight -- that we might stand a chance of actually conquering it.

Off to the gym. I want to get a few of the winterization things done today before I leave tomorrow. The porch chairs and table need to be covered, I'd love to pull the geraniums and pot them so that I can overwinter them and there's a mound of bookkeeping to be done. Toby is sticking to me like glue as he knows something is up, and he wants to make sure he's included. I've packed all the food in the RV already and didn't get the usual chips, candy, and high carb foods. Lots of lettuce bags, some soups, and a couple of quick hamburger meals. My goal is to not only not gain any weight, but maybe to lose some! I'm going to look at lots while I'm over there. We all love the ocean, but it's very hard to get reservations at the state park unless you make then in January and renting a house or cabin or staying in a motel is prohibitively expensive for 7 people not to mention needing to plan for 4 dogs and one cat. I'm thinking that if I can find a lot with the electric, septic, and water already there that we could put both RVs on it and go to the ocean several times a year. Just what I need -- another piece of land to take care of! OK, better get it in gear. Hope everyone has a great day. I probably won't be on much in the next week while I'm on the road.
