We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support, inspiration, and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.
We want to invite everyone (roosters as well as chicks!) to join us in our journey. We share laughter and tears, heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations. We also share what works for us and what doesn't.
We know the thread can move very quickly, and that people often make "personal" remarks and keep a number of conversations going. Please feel free to contribute even if you can't make personal comments all the time.
Finally, we also have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, Photos, Exercise, Info for Getting Started and more. Many of these threads are stickied at the top of the page. Please feel free to check them all out.
We have found this thread to be more than just a support group... we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

Did a soccer game on Saturday. I didn't get to play with any of the hooligans. I guess they all stayed in Liverpool. It was a small crowd, so we didn't sell huge quantities and had lots of time to gossip. It was pretty hot though. Some people spend good money to sit in a sauna.
Therapy today. It's getting harder and easier both. 5 more sessions maybe. We'll see. I'm supposed to be working on my next book, but have been playing hooky. They can't take my advance back, so they will just have to wait until I'm in the mood. I have to go to Calgary in August for one of those appearances I hate. I'm being bribed by a trip to the big fabric store. It's no fair that he know what to bribe me with.
Oh, Annie-if you need a swift kick in the butt, just remember that I have really big feet, and you don't have near as much padding back there as you used to. So keep that in mind when you get bored.
Battle - thinking of you - keep us posted as you can while you're with your mom. I am trying to act my age and have been posting on the over 40 board since I'm over 50 - funny - now I feel younger than I ever have. Great to see you as always.
Luan WELL DONE on the college place & funding!xxxxx Did you decide against surgery or are you still looking at options? I wish I could get a gastric band.xxxxx
Catherine, hey all that heat & hard work should drop you a few pounds!xxxxx
Annie sorry about the weight, I'm sure once you get back into a routine you'll drop it no trouble.xxxxxxxx

Sorry it's been so long since I've checked in but as I think Carol has been keeping ya'll apprised I've not been having a good year so far healthwise & I haven't really been up to sitting at the computer much. For a quick recap I had a hip replacement revision done on 12/10/09. Unfortunately the incision never healed and I got an mrsa infection. I was in the hospital until February 28th then came home only to have to return on May 12th for another round of IV antibiotics and found out then that the infection is now in the hip replacement hardware which now has to come out completely. So tomorrow morning at 6 am I am headed back to the hospital for surgery to have it removed. They will replace with temporary hardware which will be filled with a type of antibiotic cement. This will stay in place for 8 weeks and then hopefully (fingers crossed) all will be well, infection will be gone & they can replace the temporary with new permanent hardware.
The only upside so far to the whole thing is I am steadily losing weight with no problem. Not the way to do it I know but I'll take the weight loss anyway lol. I've lost about an additional 30 pounds since December so I've got a least one positive.
But before I go back in tomorrow I just wanted to thank everyone for all of your thoughts, cards and prayers. It really means a lot to me. Even though I haven't felt like posting, you ladies are in my mind a lot.
Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers tomorrow and in the coming weeks & I will check back in as soon as I can.
Johnie -- Wow, that is incredible! What a long journey! I hope they have everything figured out and get you back on your feet! er, hip! thanks for letting us know!
Good for you, Luan. Every time I get down I think about surgery, but I'm doing Atkins at the moment & feeling pretty good.xxxxxxx
Johnnie WELCOME BACK!!!!!!!xxxxxxx I hope everything goes well & heals up. WTG on still losing, it shows how strong & special you are, I'd have given up & gorged on sweets, cakes, chocolate....the list is endless. I'm so proud of you.xxxxxxxxx

Hey everyone. Was a bit of a bad week last week, so I was MIA. Basically, had a rough month with TOM this time around. You know if I wasn't on the birth control it would have been severe depression, which it wasn't, but it was early and that was a shock. Not to mention it was a very heavy and crampy one...so I wasn't feeling well...
I'm getting back into exercise and am sticking below 280 now...I wish I could have lost more this month, but I only managed around 8-10 pounds. Oh well...I'm still transitioning into my dietary changes so things are a bit bumpy food wise.
I hope everyone is well! I know you all are busy busy. Summer time... *HUGS*
Johnie: HUGS! I got MRSA in May of this year. Have no idea how I got it because I didnt ahve surgury or anything. It was huge on my stomach. It had to be drained and packed with gauze for about 3 weeks. It was horrible! Then it went away for about 2 weeks..then came back with 4 more sores. BUT they were caught soon enough that only one got the puss stuff and the antibiotics worked. Sooo far it has not come back, but it is always ion the back of my mind. I hope you recover fast and that that MRSA stays gone!
Jacquie: TOM is so aweful!! Mine has gotten worse over the past 8 years. When I go to the OB/GYN, I am hoping that i can get the ablation done and that it works.
As for me: We are still looking at rental houses. it is not going well. The house we were suppose to move into, which is my brothers boss, I am going to ask if his mom will come down on the rent. She might not..but if she would that would be great!
My son's GF had her ultrasound last week. The baby is about one inch they say and everything looks fine. They did an ultrasound and my son was so excited he was like mom you wanna see our baby..lol. Ofcourse it didnt look like a baby lol but still amazing. I will have to admit..I am getting a little excited about being a grandma
