Hi ladies,
I saw a welcome number on the scale this morning. 266.8. I've been hovering about 3 pounds above that for a long time. My goal for the 5 pound challenge by Labor Day is to be at 262 or below.
This morning I actually did some cardio exercise. Something I haven't done in a long time. 15 minutes on the stationary bike. I'll do more time tonight. I'm still struggling with allergy fatigue so getting up early and being perky is a reall challenge.
I've been thinking about the bootcamp challenge. I asked DH what is the purpose of bootcamp. He said its basically to break you of all your habits and retrain you. For me, this week then is about retraining myself to put cardio exercise as a high priority on a daily basis. All the other work is great for toning and I see the benefits of my past exercise in the work that I can do. DH says on a regular basis how fortunate we are that I can work like a pack mule.

My plan for the week is to be back up to 45 minutes a day cardio. For this week, that will be at home on the stationary bike. Maybe I can get some things done this week that will allow me time to get to the fitness center starting next week.
Tonights plan for dinner is salmon, fresh tomatoes and brown rice. Lunch will be salad and fruit. I have a lot of cherry tomatoes that I can snarf on as my afternoon snack. I think the tomatoes this year are amazingly good.
Oh and I have a new friend. Bud came to live at our place. Well, hopefully, he can stay for awhile. Bud is a Tennessee Walking Horse.

I was saying to DH that I miss Ginger, our old mare, as she was such a great trail horse and I miss that security of a well-trained ride. He asked Anne, the trainer, on Saturday, where to go to find a reliable horse. I was very surprised. I explained to Anne that I am just looking for something where I can feel more comfortable to go riding on my own while we're training Spanky. She offered up that Bud could come live with us for a free lease. He's a bit geriatric but he still has spunk. I think he'll be great for me to be able to get out and ride in some places where I'm not as familiar so that when I do take Spanky, I'll have a better feel for my terrain. Plus, I'm tired of being dependent on others to trail ride. So far, the boys haven't been mean to him but they are keeping him at a distance. Anne did say that if it doesn't work out, bring him home and I can take him to ride anytime I want to. I just don't want him to be lonely because my two boys are buttheads.
Amanda - Welcome to the group! Do you suffer from back pain every day? My DH does so if you do, I really feel for you. Are you able to do any chair exercises? What kind of plan are you following? We're here to help and offer support! As you'll learn about us, we trip and fall on our faces quite frequently but we don't give up. Looking forward to getting to know more about you.
Heather - It is fun to see your excitement about all the gardening stuff. And your ability to get out there and work it like a farm girl.

on the scale.
Debi - Hope you have a fun day with the kids. Your body must have needed that sleep. Good thing you listened! Looks like you've got a good plan for the day.
Carol - Where are you headed off to for vacation? Our pool water has been hot, then cold, then warm, then cold.

I like relatives who can wait on themselves.
Barb - Sounds like you had a wonderful visit. Happy 4th to Carlton! I can't hardly believe that your oldest is now 4 years old. Time flies so quickly! Thinking about adding a little sister?

I see that number in your signature and it is awesome!
Ruby -

on your loss. Look at you! You're almost into the 2's. Good job! Let evil Kathy keep kicking butt and you'll be there soon!
Lilion - Hey, its great to see you posting. I was hoping that it was just the work situation and nothing else had happened. However, I would have said that you hadn't posted in a couple of weeks; certainly not a month. Can't believe that time has flown by that quickly. Just post here when you can but keep your focus on that workload. Sorry to see that you're still have such stress and unknown about it. Seems to be that way for a lot of people and it really sucks. Hang in there!
Georgia - I love pilates. I just forget to do pilates.

I'm not very good with the social side of life. I spent too much of my adult life working and going to school. I agree about the groups - give them a try. Now's your time to try all kinds of new hobbies or groups and just enjoy the experience.
Ruth- Where are you?
I better get this posted.

to all!
Be thinking about your own personal bootcamp. I think we'll do this as a two week challenge in order to get that exercise level kicked up and changed a bit.
Anybody watch
Rubyon Style? I was watching her this morning (instead of getting ready to come to work) and she had fired her old trainers because she was bored with the workout and not motivated. She was trying different trainers. They had her boxing, bike riding, using weight balls and dancing in addition to the treadmill and machines. The thing was that these new types of physical exercise were rejuvenating to her motivation. It was fun to watch her joy at riding a bike again. So, if your exercise is getting boring and you're not seeing results....mix it up.
The preview for next week had the therapist saying to her "the morbidly obese Ruby is dying and a new Ruby is being born". That kind of caught my attention. Do we need to envision that this old person with the bad habits and insecurities is dying away to be replaced by a new vibrant, strong person? Is that the key to prolonged success? Hmmmm........
Okay, now I'm posting this.
