300+ Manic Moving in May Exercise Thread
:welcome: to the May exercise thread! We're making exercise a habit, giving ourselves some accountability, and getting healthier in the process!In this thread, we track the number of MINUTES we exercise for the month -- whether it's walking or swimming or sweaty housework! Most of us set goals for ourselves (I personally will not exercise much without a goal). If you are a goal-setter, early in the month set your own goal! If you're just getting started, feel free to start with a smaller number of minutes (I did!), maybe just a few hundred. It seems easier for many of us to build on the habit rather than meet a very high goal right away. However, you can also just jump right in without a goal, and you can join us anytime in the month! In 2007 the 300+ club exercised 205,352 minutes. Let’s break that record! To keep track, just add your minutes to the existing group’s minutes. If you’re new, look at what other people are doing – it’s pretty easy to figure out! To help everyone keep things straight, please note the OLD minutes and the number of NEW minutes you are adding, such as Group total ~ 500 + 50 = 550 minutes We've made a great start and I'd love to see us hit 20K minutes for April!!! Started the month off this morning with 65 minutes at the gym (30 mins on the treadmill and 35 mins weight training-Upper Body/Abs) Hope I can meet my exercise goal this month! So...I must be the first entry this month. Personal Total: 0 + 65 = 65 mins Group Total: 0 + 65 = 65 mins |

I did a lot of weeding today. Some of it a good upper body workout -- I pulled a lot of crap out of the ground. I'll count 20 min of it. Group total ~ 245 + 20 = 265 min |

My goal for the month of May: 1600 minutes. May1: 60 minutes treadmill + 30 minutes weights = 90 minutes. Wildlife = gym rats. May2: 60 minutes treadmill. Wildlife = gym water rats (in the pool). May3: 140 minutes walking outside at reclaimed gravel pits. Wildlife = coyote, blue heron, 2 kinds of egrets, many Canada geese, gadwalls (ducks), mallards, yellow-rumped warblers, American avocets, a bunch of cute turtles, 4 white pelicans. Today I'm logging 70 minutes:
55 minutes: morning walk 15 minutes: cardio/aerobics Group Total (1240 + 70): 1310 Notes: My walk this morning, which I plan on doing every day, kicked my butt later on when I tried to do my aerobics! WOOSH! Too much hop hop hoping around for me lol. I'm hoping to get further tomorrow, but that is a strength day and I haven't done that in awhile! |

Well, I got back to lifting the weights yesterday (40 min), had a walk with the neighbour on Friday (~45 min) and walked with my mother today (35 mins) that included me jogging a couple of times, as she walks too slow. So to raise my heart rate I did a few intervals of jogging away, turning around and coming back. Yep, light jogging, in public. :p

Two walks (with jogs) yesterday and today (31 + 32 mins) and 40 mins strength training yesterday. So, that's 103 mins.
Group total: 1,896 + 103 = 1,999 |
I did a 30 min zumba session and then my 60 min workout with my trainer.

5/5: 60 min - cardio, abs, stretching 5/6: 100 min - training session, cardio 5/7: rest...pack for trip. :) I'll be out of town until Monday night but will be busy exercising with a friend on my mini vacation.
