Monica Dianne, on the 5lb loss!! You're off to a great start!

Catherine, I had asked him about the delayed entry and he said he's still in the very beginning stages of enlisting. He just went and took the preliminary aptitude test to see if he scored high enough to be a Master of Arms, (I think that's what it is) because he wants to be in the naval police. (Sorry don't know all the terms). They told him that usually people score between 35 and 40 and he scored a 46. He was busting with pride on that one! I think next is losing the weight and going to the main test down in Seattle. He's suppose to keep in touch with the enlistment officer weekly to report in on how he's doing. Thanks for giving me insight into what's to come. It really helps.

Debi, all the ideas your getting and have sound really fun. I love the idea of the chinese boxes that Monica Dianne mentioned.

Yeah!!! The weather is finally cooling down. Sounds like back east it's been pretty bad with the thunder storms their having. Hope all are safe.
toodles,
Debbie

Debbie-If he wants to be a Master at Arms, then after bootcamp in Michigan, he would go for advanced training in San Antonio, Texas. They serve on larger ships as security, but a lot of them are in Iraq and Afghanistan serving as prison guards, and escorting prisoners from the Middle East to Gitmo. He wouldn't have any trouble getting a job after an enlistment, but they can be looked on in the Navy like Internal Affairs are in the police. They are the ones who come to escort people off the ships when they have failed a drug test for example. They are also the guys on the little zodiac boats that board suspected drug boats, and stand guard at the gates of Navy bases. My sailor thought about doing Master at Arms because he was interested in learning to train the guard dogs. They do that too.

Debbie...I like him too (name jut escaped me again) and I like Korto becuase she doesn't do the drama. Stella is annoying, Suede is talented but the 3rd person thing is just lame and too many of the "skinny white girls" blend in together. Did you know that Wesley (who got voted off for the brown dress) and Daniel are a couple now? I really loved the dress of the girl who got voted off last night but they were right...it was all wrong for that challenge. Too many of them are just producing the same thing week after week.

SO looking forward to Farmer's market tonight! Looking forward to lots of yummies and bringing home good stuff.

Hello,
Just popping in quick to say hello to all. Still stressful around here, but I am trying hard to remember water and eat. Sleeping has been so off the wall that hubby says he is worried. I just tell him to leave me alone. I agree with Ratkitten that MEN need to beware!
Debi- sorry you are in pain. If it has anything to do with it this time I don't want mine to come. I think we are on same schedule. Any day to start mine. AND IT BETTER START. Hubby keeps teasing me, and it just better cause thats all I got to say.
Well, I am going to work tomorrow at a different site and not sure how it will go. I am in a mood. Well, I gotta go for now. Penny

Menopause can't possibly be worse than this.
LOL ummm my DH would beg to differ with this thought LOL I had a rough go for a long time after my surgically induced menopause..........still do have the ups & downs.......hot flashes have gotten alot better but the mood swings and the "drive" sometimes gets stuck in park/halt/stop too often for DH LOL but I do feel better than before.

Ok so went to the dentist and it was a no go on the tooth pulling........the antibiotics the ER doc gave me on monday were not the right type so the infection is still there and Dentist doesn't want to take the tooth out till I'm on another type of antibiotics for 48 hours.........so I wait till tuesday now! grrrrrrr......but he gave me more pain meds and these I can take at work so at least thats better!

Debbie-the army will write a waiver for someone that joins overweight.........since they know that during basic they will loose it. My DH rejoined the army after being out for 2yrs in 95 and his waist was a 44 he dropped down to a 29 when he was done with training, and he broke his leg during training........so the last month he was in a cast.....so it was all lost prior to that!

The classroom is getting more organized........we are setting up 3 major workstations and having the kids come to each of us adults.......I will be working with most of the lower end students(non-readers, non-verbal) since our other assistant is 15 weeks pregnant we are trying to accommodate her with the higher functioning students....less stress and behavioral issues.

I have been getting complements since school started.....kinda odd ones LOL........since I changed my hair style, color, lost weight and now I'm wearing makeup everyday.......ohhh and I'm wearing my contacts daily now as well.........people at work will see me and say stuff like "What did you do different?" or they just kinda look at me strange and comment on my lack of glasses LOL Today was the cream of the crop! LOL The principal (who is a very beautiful and sophisticated lady) came up to me and said "I've been meaning to talk to you about this.......just don't want to sound rude about it........Did you get a make over?" ROFL!!! I said well in a way I guess you could say I did! LOL So I told her what all I changed and that since I've lost 46lbs my hormones are more in check so my face isn't as prone to perspiring so I am now able to wear my makeup everyday! She said "Well you look fantastic!" Made my day!!! LOL

Well my tooth is hurting and I'm waiting on my meds to kick in so I will get off here..........WELCOME to all those new and returnies!!!

I am right on target calorie wise today but i sure am full...Hubby grill chicken tenders and shrimp, sweet corn and squash. Its so nice for him to feel like grilling again. Now if i can just get him back downstairs and lifting weights with me. MOnday is the day we picked to start back lifting!
Penny- hope things go good at work tommorow!! Yes I do think we are together "TOM". Im just praying if he doesnt come till after the shower on sat. Cant wait to see what my dil gets for the baby.

Catherine, yes that's it! I don't think he realizes that he could possibly go over to Iraq. The enlistment officer is making it sound all peaches and cream. He tells DS that he will be like a police officer on the bases, but no mention of possibly going to Iraq. DS and dil are already thinking that they will get stationed where ever DS wants if he scores in the top of his class, and will get the pick of bases, which is possible, but not right at the beginning.I don't think he realizes that he will have to serve some time overseas. I'm afraid they are seeing the glory of it all, the uniform, and the money, and not what really happens when you go into the service.

Julee, yes, Suede can be annoying with the 3rd person. I don't get why people do that. The one that cracks me up is the biker chick who wants everything done in black. Nope, didn't know Wesley and Daniel are a couple....sorta cute. I liked the dress that got voted off too, but just not appropriate at all for the challenge. Have fun tonight!

Bernice, that sucks that you have to wait til Tuesday now. I hope the drugs they gave you do the trick and keep you from hurting too much.

Penny,

toodles for now

Hello,
Well I am checking back in.

Debbie-Hang in there with the son and dil. They will figure it out. It is just tough on us moms. What field does he want to go into?

Bernice-Sorry to hear about the sore tooth. But Tuesday is a long time away. You would think they would understand that you are a female with hormones flying! lol Wouldn't it be nice to see a man go through menopause? They still wouldn't get it. That is pretty cool that you are getting all the compliments. You are beautiful. Keep going!!!

Debi-Yes, I hope it goes well tomorrow as well. Since I had to transfer there from here. I have to drive to work! BLAH! I will have to drive 40 minutes. I will be away from the house 12 hours tomorrow. I will have a 2 hour lunch time where its closed. What will I do? I am used to just walking 1/2 block. But I still have a job and hopefully after this guy leaves that I will be able to put in for a return. Hope the dil gets alot of neat things! I like the idea of colored toothbrushes being passed out too! lol

Julee-Did you get a lot of goodies at the farmers market?

Monica-YEAH on losing 5 lbs.!

Well hubby has an interview tomorrow and is a little nervous as it is meeting the guy at a restaurant! He had to go and buy a new shirt and shoes. He dug out a suit that we had bought several years ago that he was going to get into and it is weird, it fit. I have to go and hem up the pants, OOPS! I just remembered that. So I will close for now. Im not sure yet what she will do as far as favors go..we are jsut trying to get a few ideas in our heads and try to get an idea of what kind of budget we need to set. When is your wedding???
We're getting married October 3, 2009 (it was scheduled for Oct 4, 2008, but I realized that I would HATE to look at the pictures and see myself the way I am now...other reasons too, but that was a big one!). I liked the cookie idea because it was a touch of something homemade (and everyone who knows us knows we love to cook), and also baked goods just seem comfy in the fall & winter! I considered making a CD for everyone with our favorite songs from the reception, so maybe that could be an option for her...and put personalized labels on each CD with their names & date of the wedding. That's something that would last a long time. If I think of anything else I will let you know! When is it?

Monica:

DH and I made a CD. We were lucky that we had a friend with access to equipment that could burn 50 CDs at a time otherwise it would have taken forever. DH is a graphic artist and he drew a cartoon of us which we used on the CD labels and also on our save the date cards. The songs were all meaningful to us in different ways and it was played during dinner. We got so many compliments on it...the music was very diverse and people thought it was fun.

The Market was nice...small but well done for their first night. I was blown away at the size of some of the things I saw. Red onions bigger than softballs...peaches about the same. My giant peach sadly did not make it home. It got squished in the bag...but everything else was fine. For dinner we found a stand selling fresh bbq chicken with grilled onions. It filled me up so much I passed on the roasted corn. I got a small kettle corn to take home and split it in half. The funnel cakes were tempting as was the spiral potato...but as my WW leader says...nothing tastes as good as being thin feels. LOL

It's so hot here...I may find a cool spot and read tonight. I can finally start "Breaking Dawn"!

Good Morning Peeps - I'm back from the lake somewhat rejuvenated. I actually came back yesterday as we got rained out and that is no fun for me at the lake. I was able to take a long nap after getting lots of pup loves.

Better get moving around here.

Move your bodies, drink your water and SMILE.

Hugs,
Carol

good Morning,
I just figured out why I have been starving lately. I started on a womans vitamin. I hate taking them becuase they always make me hungry. I have been feeling really drained lately. I get my labs done in 2 months and i am wondering if my iron might be low. I have also noticed my blood pressure is a low alot. Might need to call and go in and see if i need to adjust my medicine. I have already had to cut it in half once. I would be great to be able to go off it completly. I think I will call my dr today and give her my past weeks worth of readings. my pulse has been running in the 50s. I know thats a side effect of antenol.
hugs to all

Debbie-You should sign up for NavyMoms online. You can talk to moms whose kids are master at arms, and they can give your kids a clearer picture. I'm sorry to say that some recruiters flat out lie, and all will fudge now and then if they are short of their quota. See, recruiters are often in their or their wife's hometown, or they are going to college there. If they don't make their quota, they get sent back to the fleet. The other Navy moms helped keep me sane. We supported each, and the local group got together 4 times a year for lunch. One of the kids who was stationed in SC at the nuclear training school had a wreck on his motorcycle and became paralyzed. When he was in the VA in Tampa, we took turns sitting with him so his mom could go back and forth to Missouri to take care of her younger kids and keep from losing her job. There's women whose kids are just in delayed entry all the way to lifers and admiral's moms. You want the straight stuff, they are the ones with all the answers. There's also a group for wives. It might do your dil some good to talk to some of them. I come from a military family, all the way back to the crusades. I had one brother in army, navy and air force serving overseas at the same time during Vietnam. I believe in military service but I also believe that one should go in with their eyes open. Some kids hate the military, not because of what happened to them, but because they were expecting something different.

DG...I am also on atenolol but have never found any strange side effects. I would love to be off it for once and for all...but I don't see that happening anytime in the near future. I am expecting my Dr. to want blood work done when I go in 2 weeks...I don't want to start panicking this far in advance about what will happen...but this appointment should be a doozie.

Julee, sorry to hear about the smooshed peach. Aren't the veggies and fruits so pretty all laying there so colorful? I just loved looking at them. I know, weird...lol.

Catherine, I believe in the military too, wholeheartedly. But like I said, if my son is being talked into it because of the glam, schooling, and money, then he's going to have a rude awakening. He's doing it basically for the schooling. I just think he's going in for all the wrong reasons and if his mind is not going to be in it 100%, that's when things can go wrong. If I were to tell him all the things that you've told me, he wouldn't even believe me, because he's been so wrapped up on dil's family, and he just wants to please them. So there's really nothing I can do to enlighten him.
I think I will check out the Navy moms though. It sounds like a good way to really hear what's going on, so thank you for that. I'm so glad you're here, because you have added so much to my life through your book, and just from the things that you've written on here.

Debi, I bet that your meds are too much for you so you'll probably have to reduce the dosage. That's what my bp did when it was too high, and now I'm totally off of them. Good luck to ya and make sure to call the doc to find out.

Have a great day!
Debbie
