Default 300+ Jumpin' January Exercise Thread!

HAPPY 2008 -- and WELCOME!

..To the January exercise thread! We're making exercise a habit, giving ourselves some accountability, and getting healthier in the process!

In this thread, we track the number of MINUTES we exercise for the month -- whether it's walking or swimming or sweaty housework! Most of us set goals for ourselves (I personally will not exercise much without a goal). If you are a goal-setter, early in the month set your own goal! If you're just getting started, feel free to start with a smaller number of minutes (I did!), maybe just a few hundred. It seems easier for many of us to build on the habit rather than meet a very high goal right away. However, you can also just jump right in without a goal, and you can join us anytime in the month!

And you want to jump in, because one of the main reasons to be here is to track how many minutes we exercise as a group! In 2007, we exercised over 200,000 minutes... let's see what 2008 brings!

Alright, I'm back in the game. I'm going to shoot for 150 minutes to start.

I'm in for 400min. Seems when I try for a higher goal, I hurt myself along the way. So I'm going to play it safe again.

I'm lowering my goal to 800 minutes. I have a very busy month with many engagements and I know it will cut into my workout schedule...

Let's get this baby rollin'! Awake at 3 a.m. Still awake at 4 a.m. Soooo, I might as well....
15 minutes of weights and leg lifts. Wuddya want for the middle of the night? Besides, Barb cleaned the house, and the only weight I can still find is the 20 pounder, and MAN! that puppy is even heavier than I remember! The others all must have been light enough for her to hide, lol! Anyway, it pumped up my respiration right away!

As for a minute commitment, I'll start back at.... 15 min a day is 450 - OK 450 it is!

WELCOME TO TWOOOOO THOUSAND & (OMG-WHAT-I) ATE! ...i mean EIGHT!

15 + 0 = 15 minutes.

Like Bruno says, TOP THAT! (G'head - you KNOW you CAN!)

Hiya girls! I am scared of aiming to high and burning out completely as have so many shifts etc this month, but i reckon I should be able to do a minimum of 20 mins 3 times a week and hopefully more, so that is 300 this month for me!!

EEEK! An actual COMMITMENT to exercise! Not too scary! But I figure..."what the heck", may as well at least give a try, right? I do a mile walk in 12 minutes almost every weekday (Leslie Sansone 1 mile walk), weekends are almost always much more, walking about 3 miles each day, which kind of counts and kinda doesn't count, since it is Flea Market walking, which is sometimes brisk and sometimes not. My pedometer usually says 3 miles or more at the end of the day on weekends.

Not sure how to come to a monthly minute number, but I guess I will aim for 3oo minutes.

Hapy and Healthy New Year everyone!

Had a great walk with my dog in the brisk air and sunshine this morning. Great way to start the new year!

GROUP TOTAL 15 + 42 = 57

Love the new avatar!

My exercise started off shoveling snow! No sunshine here! I was at it almost an hour, but some of that was less energetic -- cleaning off cars, etc. so I'm going to count 30 minutes.

Group total: 57 + 30 = 87 min

I'm gonna put the same goal I had last month of 1300 minutes. This month I will hit it though! I like to post once a week on Sundays so I'll be back on Sunday to post.
Blessings all,
Annie

I am going to jump off the deep end and set my goal at 1000 minutes. Since haven't been commited to exercise for a few months now, this will be a challenge. Especially since January is a very busy work month. But this is about learning how to not let work or life interfere with my goals.

90 minutes of DDR.....yes, we bought one and it's FUN. But my legs aren't super happy right now.

90 + 87 = 177 min.

I'm determined to start 2008 off with a bang: 800 minutes.

Today was a light day, just 20 minutes.

Group Total: 177 + 20 = 197 minutes
