Default 300+ Sweeeet September Exercise Thread

WELCOME WELCOME WELCOME!!!

...To the Sweeeet September exercise thread! We're trying to make exercise a habit, give ourselves some accountability, and get healthier in the process!

In this thread, we track the number of MINUTES we exercise for the month
-- whether it's walking or swimming or sweaty housework! Most of us set goals for ourselves (I personally will not exercise much without a goal). If you are a goal-setter, early in the month set your own goal! If you're just getting started, feel free to start with a smaller number of minutes (I did!), maybe just a few hundred. It seems easier for many of us to build on the habit rather than meet a very high goal right away. However, you can also just jump right in without a goal, and you can join us anytime in the month!

And you want to jump in, because one of the main reasons to be here is to track how many minutes we exercise as a group! In 2006 we came close to 200,000 minutes. I'd love to see us surpass that goal this year. Here's where we stand!

Jan 19,532 min
Feb 14,818 min
Mar 20,190 min
Apr 18,336 min
May 16,343 min
June 21,703 min
July 23,253 min
Aug -- I'll tally it later
------------
TOT nearly 150,000 MINUTES to date!

We are well over halfway there!

Finally, if you're new to this, pay attention to how to add your minutes to the group... people get confused if they can't easily see our new total. I recommend showing the previous total, then your minutes, then the new total (which should be the sum of the other 2 numbers). For example, if the group had done 500 minutes already and you did 30, here's what you would do:

Group total ~ 500 + 30 = 530 minutes

Let's continue to make 2007 great by more moving and shaking!!

In June I met my goal for the first time ever, then upped it to 620 in July and August. I haven't yet succeeded in doing 620, but I'm going to try again in Sept. I think I can, I think I can, I think I can....

The time change is gonna put a crimp in my bicycling... so I'll stick to 1000 minutes for September!

Ratkitten -- What time change?

As for me... I think I will go with 1000 minutes this month. September gets busy, but I don't want to go too low with the minutes... hmmmm...

Since I made my time for August, I will push it a little bit further and say 1400 for September. It might be a challenge, especially since I have to fit things around my company's office move, but I need to learn how to keep exercise in my life even in busy times if I am going to be able to make this stick for life.

Hi Everyone,

I can only walk this month and not very much since surgery so I am setting my minutes down to 300 for September.

Blessings all,
Annie

Despite September being the beginning of my busy season for art shows, I'm just going to keep mine the same as last month.

Since I work out from home I should be able to keep fitting it in fine. And hey, I'm not all worried about if I make my minute goal as long as I keep doing around the same range.

September: 1,800

Default I am going to try

I am giving it the old college try. 600 minutes this month. One question...can I count things like laying flagstone and such? Or does it have to be focused exercise?

Real...

Real -- I count things like shovelling snow because it gets my heartrate up. Yardwork is harder to gauge. There can be more "down time" depending on what you do. I have been known to count portions of my time -- and focus on keeping the time my heartrate was up.

But I never count housecleaning for some reason... I think I never do enough of it in a sitting to make it worthwhile!

Other people count different things...
