The 300+ Motivating May Exercise Thread!

Welcome!

...To the May exercise thread! We're trying to make exercise a habit, give ourselves some accountability, and get healthier in the process!

In this thread, we're setting the number of MINUTES we want to exercise for the month -- whether it's walking or swimming or sweaty housework! Early in the month (or before it starts) set your own goal! If you're just getting started, feel free to start with a smaller number of minutes (I did!), maybe just a few hundred. It seems easier for many of us to build on the habit rather than meet a very high goal right away.

We're also tracking how many minutes we have exercised as a group! In 2006 we came close to 200,000 minutes. I'd love to see us surpass that goal this year. Here's where we stand!

Jan 19,532 min
Feb 14,818 min
Mar 20,190 min
Apr 18,336 min
------------
TOT 72,868 MINUTES THRU APRIL!!

To start, please first post your goals and then add your minutes (for yourself and the group) and get some support and accountability!

If you want to join us during the month -- GREAT! Just let us know how many minutes you want to exercise in what's left of the month!

Finally, if you're new to this, pay attention to how to add your minutes to the group... people get confused if they can't easily see our new total. I recommend showing the previous total, then your minutes, then the new total (which should be the sum of the other 2 numbers). For example, if the group had done 500 minutes already and you did 30, here's what you would do:

Group total ~ 500 + 30 = 530 minutes

Let's continue to make 2007 great by more moving and shaking!!

I'm not setting a goal...because if I don't make it, then I feel like a failure. So, I'm just going to keep on MOVING! :D

luja 04-28-2007 02:25 PM

My goal for May is 930 minutes.

Vilandra485 04-28-2007 11:11 PM

I'm just going with 15 minutes a day...and hopefully I'll remember to post them in May!! My goal = 465 minutes :)

I'm definitely in for 15 minutes a day, 465 minutes total. Gotta get movin' again.

Xena2005 04-29-2007 11:12 AM

Haven't done very well at meeting my monthly goals, but am sticking with 600 anyway. My weight isn't moving and I know I need to get myself moving more!!!! I intend to be more committed to my exercise goal this month!

I'm in again. I've done terrible at meeting my goals for the last two months. I'm setting my goal at 800 minutes for May. Time to get moving once again.

Well, I'm not going to make my April goal (only the 2nd time in a year and a half I haven't met a goal) and my May looks REALLY busy. :( I'm setting a goal of 800 minutes for May and if all goes well, that should be really attainable...

emilymay 04-30-2007 07:57 AM

I'm going to go for another 1000 minutes in May, might not make it as am on nursing placement full time that month, but will give it a good old go!!

So thats me signed up!!

LitChick 04-30-2007 08:23 AM

Obsidianbbw 04-30-2007 09:00 AM

Finally made my 800 min goal thanks to adding in weights. Sticking that hoping it wasn't a fluke.

AmmiUK 04-30-2007 11:07 AM

Ok well all being well and I manage my twice a week to the gym as well as my at home exercise, then I should make 1500 minutes this month.

Hugs,

Ammi :chicken:
