Penny There were a fair few jump-scares in it, and it was a very beautiful movie overall (costumes, sets), but I guess it was a little dull in the scheme of things. It was spooky, and I wanted to love it, but the pace was just a little bit... too same-same the whole movie? It was pretty long too. I did like it though, it's possibly just one of those movies I'd rather I'd waited to see when it wasn't at the cinema. Well done on pre-planning before you went to visit your sister and her girlfriend! Oh man, people who cook really good food at home and then invite me over are just too dangerous haha. That's probably one of the only things I'm happy about in terms of not living where my family live now - I can't be tempted by my mum or sister's delicious cooking!

~I'm feeling SUPER accomplished right now. I just made a big salad of roasted sweet potato and cauliflower, pecans, baby spinach, black beans and some goats cheese, and portioned it out into five servings for my lunches this week. This is a pretty huge deal for me, because I rarely take lunch from home, let alone stick to doing it for more than one week at a time. I'm a little worried I either A) won't like the salad or, B) will get sick of it after a couple of days. Either way, I need to think of the long term picture - it's a healthy, hearty salad, and it's going to keep me full and help me achieve my goals. Hopefully it tastes good!

Hey everyone! The race was today, my time wasn't great but I wasn't doing a good job of pacing or knowing how far along I was on the route. I did run the whole time so I am happy about that. We made a bunch of food after with our friends we did the race with and I probably ate too much, but at least I ran a race beforehand!

Weight wise I am down to a high 174! Ok about 174.9 but I will count it, especially since it was a couple days in a row, not one rogue low weigh in.

I am really trying to figure out exercising when it gets colder! I don't like running outside when it is cold. Looking for used treadmills religiously on Craigslist...

Ok so what is everyone going to be for Halloween?!

Ri Yoga Studio is the one I use. It might have been about $2 but that is cheaper than any single yoga class I know of! Thanks for the notes on the pic, it was my outfit for the wedding last week, I took a bunch of shots to send to my friend to help me figure out what to wear, hence the dirty hotel room!

Penny Obviously I love walking with my dog hehe

Ok guys, I think I'm ready to share my website!

http://shanastark.com/

Tah daaah! It's pretty simple, nothing too flashy. I don't have too much work but I think I have enough to sell myself as an editor. If you decide to check it out I appreciate it!

rainbow - That looks like a solid workout! I'm really bad at any sort of plank moves, so I feel ya. Wow, you stayed accountable over the weekend!! You're doing so SO well, I'm so proud of you. Any loss is a loss in my opinion, no matter how small. We have to count each step forward a victory, since weight loss is a slow battle. Your energy is infectious, it makes me want to do a better job . Keep it up!

Penny - I'm always jealous of people who can cook so well, but then I think that I would probably be worse off if I did! Haha, you would HATE to see my dogs out then...god. I had to take care of them for 2 weeks while my parents were away and every morning was a stressful episode for me.

HDWD - Hey, you ran a race, you gotta treat yo self for that! Whenever I finish a race it's a tradition of mine to eat a burger. I've done it every single time. Have you considered Insanity? I was literally around the same weight as you and in the same predicament when I did it. I didn't want to run outside so I downloaded it and I lost 25 lbs over the cold months. I would highly recommend it over a treadmill any day!! I've been invited to a star wars party...so maybe I'll look into doing some sort of star wars themed outfit? Not sure what though, I might just be lame and not dress up! You know I didn't actually notice the messy hotel room, hah!

Rainbow: Thanks, rainbowstripe. I think I might convince my friend to wait and see the movie on Netflix or something.
Yeah, family members with cooking skills are dangerous! It's way easier with ones who only THINK they can cook (cardboard-like muffins, anyone?).
Good work planning out your lunches! That's awesome! It sounds so tasty, too. Let us know how it turns out.

HaveDog: Congrats on doing a race! Even doing one is impressive to me. And I'm with you on the exercising in the cold thing. A treadmill WOULD be useful. Good idea!
Walking dogs can be so much fun! They have fun, you have fun watching them!
For Halloween... Hmm... I'm not sure yet. I have to think on it. Usually I cycle through my old costumes.

Rie: I checked out your website! It was great! I remember I had to make a website for a class once and it wasn't even close to that! Wow! Very professional!

I will have to look into, Insanity, Ri...Is it expensive or a way to do it without buying all the DVDs? I would want to try it for a bit before investing as I don't have a great track record of sticking to things!!

Was up a bit this morning, but not too surprising after the post race feast! Back on track today.

Rie - I like your fun way of editing footage! And your short films are filmed in a very interesting and particular style. It's good to have a unique style like that. If I ever need a video put together, I'll let you know. I'm also working on a wordpress portfolio for my graphic design - I'll post it here when it feels ready.

What a night I've had! I've had a cough for the past 3 or 4 weeks, and last night whenever I coughed I couldn't breathe afterwards. I've never had an asthma attack, but I imagine that's how it feels - your airways just tighten. It was so scary! My parents heard me wheezing and drove me to the hospital. The nurses checked my oxygen and blood pressure, everything was fine, but the wait to see the one doctor on duty would be at least 6 hours. So I went home to sleep and planned to see another doctor this morning. During the night I took Robitussin for mucus & phlegm, and coughed up a lot of phlegm which I think cleared my airways because I can breathe normally now. I'm in the doctor's waiting room right now waiting to see what's up. Even though I'm feeling better, I've been sick for a while so I probably caught a virus of some kind.

Edit: It's seasonal allergies, apparently. Never had them before. I got a bunch of medicine that's supposed to help.
The doctor weighed me and said that I'm at an ideal weight, which has never happened to me before (maybe as a kid?) That's the only good thing to come out of this experience!

So after nearly this whole month away from the scale and all things good {you ladies}, this morning's read was 154.4. Yep, 4 lbs up from two weeks ago. Do I think it's a true gain? Nah, I was 152.2 two days ago. So why did I list it? To kick my @$$ into gear and realize that even if it's a falsie due to sodium, eating late, or what have me...it's still a higher than normal read because I HAVEN'T been watching what I'm eating nor have I been good about the consistent exercise. Heck, I've been awful about my water intake too.

Pretty sure I need to do some reflecting tonight. Buuut, it's nearly 8am and my day's just started, so time to dart out. I keep promising personals and I fall through. Seriously need to get it together. This has to be the first challenge that I see both the beginning and end to.

Ah, I was doing so well in the beginning of this challenge compared to now! Still maintaining most of my loss. Had a stomach bug last week and I'm still not feeling 100% so I haven't been exercising much. Haven't been eating much either but the scale isn't back down! Not too much to report otherwise. I'm still figuring out how best to incorporate exercise into my new routine...mostly that will be riding my bike the 10 miles home when I can, and I am trying to run once a week on the weekends.

Looks like a lot of great progress across the board. No time for personals right now but wanted to pop in real quick.

If you still want to join the challenge then please go to the first post for the rules + the link to the spreadsheet! If you were already part of the challenge but your information is gone, it's because you haven't weighed in for more than 2 weeks. If you want back in the challenge, please ask me to re-add you to the spreadsheet.

Hi guys!

I lost my post AGAIN! This time I leaned forward to drink water and somehow I managed to lose the post. Stupid, stupid. Long story short: had amazing thai food for lunch - fried rice with tofu - yum! Saw Crimson Peak - it sucked, don't go see it.

-----------------------------------

Penny - Thank you for checking out my website!! I'm so glad it looks professional, I can't take much credit since I'm using a pre-made theme, but it's nice to hear that it looks good

HDWD - Don't worry, the gain will most definitely go down! I'm sure you'll get a post-race whoosh soon!

Mongoose - Thank you so much for checking out my website and the compliments! Please do let me know if you want anything editing . I look forward to seeing your graphic design portfolio! Sorry you had such a scare! Sounds awful, but so strange that it was caused by allergies.

Atarimae - You're back! I'm so glad to see you! You're right, it's good to stay accountable no matter what. Gains happen for a reason and when you know that reason you can easily remedy it and get moving again. You can do it, just this week and next week and you'll have finished!

NNS - Oh man, I'm so sorry you caught a stomach bug! I'm sure once you're back to full health you'll start losing again.

HaveDog Congrats on finishing the race, and running the whole thing, well done! I really wanted to do either Wednesday Addams, or a crow for Halloween, but I don't have a party to go to, and I can't dress up for our work celebrations because I have an external meeting So I'm not sure now! You?

Rie I'm gonna go check out your site as soon as I'm done posting here, so will let you know what I think - not that my opinion is important haha, but feedback is good, right? Oh you really hated Crimson Peak that much? I thought it definitely had redeeming factors, but was a little dull. I don't know if I've ever been on the inspiring end of things, so I'm glad I'm there for someone haha! Ugh, your fried rice makes me crave. I want noodles!!

Penny Yeah, I'd definitely wait for Netflix, or the DVD - do people even rent DVDs anymore? The salad I made was pretty good, so I'm relieved!!

Mongoose Ugh, allergies. They can definitely develop later in life, I never had them until I was 24. Sorry to hear about the scary breathing and ER trip though! Glad it wasn't anything more serious!

Atarimae At least you're back and on the road to accountability. I was right where you are now a few weeks ago and I think I'm back on track now - so if I can do it, you can do it - because I'm bad at doing things!

noname Sorry to hear you've been unwell, but glad that you're on the road to recovery!

~Thankfully, the salads I prepped yesterday taste good. I ate one for lunch today, as was the plan, and I enjoyed it. I maybe went a little heavy on the lemon juice in the dressing, but I like tang, so it's all good. I took breakfast too, and I drank most of the water I'd planned to.

Things were a little stressful at work, just things not being said and private meetings and I get anxious when I don't know what's going on, but I think everything is ok. As long as I still have a job, I'm happy.

I had a doctor's appointment this afternoon, my last one with one of the specialists I'd been seeing as he's passed my care off to a more specialised-specialist. I liked him though, he was always very honest and helped me get the care I needed quickly. So I guess in a way I'll be sorry not to see him again? Probably not - though the waiting room there was one of the nicest I'd ever been in haha!

I'm still really sore from Saturday's workout, and have been having some problems with one of my legs, so today's workout was a little half-hearted half-effort, because I was just feeling pretty fatigued. I know it's an excuse, but I'm still listening to my body and a half-assed workout is still better than no workout at all in my book.

This week is a 6 day week for me (ugh) so I have to try to keep on top of things even more so with 6 days of work!

So, what's everyone doing for Halloween? Parties? Chillin' at home with a scary movie and some popcorn? Going out?

Riestrella: I also watched a couple of your videos too - really lovely editing! If I ever need a video edited, I'd definitely come to you. Great work

Rainbow: Great job eating healthy through the stress at work! And I agree with you - a workout with less effort is still better than no workout, especially when the habits are being formed.

Hey everyone!

So I had a bit of a bad day today. I know right, after all that pep and determination the other day?! However I know days like this will happen, the most important thing is to move forward and to put my routine back into gear. I just got caught up in errands like figuring out health insurance stuff, booking more doctors appointments, planning a trip in my not so near future with one of my best friends (we want to do a road trip in America!), making birthday invitations for my nephews party, buying birthday presents for a friend and general day-to-day busy work! It's no excuse, I had plenty of down time to do a 20 minute yoga session like I intended. I also ate leftover pizza that I REALLY didn't need. Then the dinner I made for everyone was really unhealthy...I used a recipe the BF's Mum used since I really liked the dish. Turns out there's loads of bacon grease and butter involved...should've known really! It did, admittedly, taste lovely.

Tomorrow I'm going to prioritize my workout and go on a run or do an Insanity video. Then I will get to work on the rest of things I have to do tomorrow.

Is anyone else a Star Wars fan?!

--------------------------

rainbow - Your opinion is important! I hope you liked it. To go into details about Crimson Peak: I thought it LOOKED beautiful. The set design and costumes were incredible. I love seeing that level of detail go into a film. The acting was also great, I thought all the performances were great. However the CGI ghosts weren't scary nor did they look good. The story was also a mess - they established the girl as an aspiring writer so much at the beginning but what purpose did it serve? So that she would have a pen at a crucial point? She seemed to just give up on her life ambition. The moments of tension were non-existent, it was all very predictable with the scares. A lot of missed opportunities I felt. The twist in the story was also a bit lazy too. I thought that the story was going to be something much grander. Perhaps the house was actually sat on some satanic sacrificial site and the clay was actually something much more sinister...that the girl was actually going to be a sacrifice and she was going to discover what the siblings were up to. I dunno, it was just so underwhelming and like you said - dull! I'm a bit more opinionated about these things I'll admit, I'm really into horror as a genre and this wasn't a good installment.
Woohoo, go you on making delicious salads! What was your recipe? I need to eat more salads!! Keep us updated on your situation. I hope you get answers soon! Good luck with your 6 day work week, those are the worse!! I had them a few times as a teacher and I hated them so much.

Penny - Aww, thanks!! That's really nice to hear! I'm going to a halloween party on Saturday, it's Star Wars themed, but I only found out about it a couple of days ago!! So not enough time to get a costume + I'm not earning money so I can't just buy something online.

Ri Got a chance to look over your website. I like it! It is very well done, neat and organized, but still fun and creative! So sorry you had a bad day, but isn't empowering to realize that and still be able to have a good attitude about it?

Penny105 Oh man I have no idea what we will actually be doing. My BF's work buddies are having a bar crawl but we are not sure we will go- it's a lot of money and booze and there is just something about bar crawls I have trouble getting excited about...

I am down another pound...I seem to go in steps, the same weight for like two weeks, and then when I look at my log I see I am down 3 from last Wednesday. Hey I will take it, sometimes it's the only thing motivating me to keep going, the thought that I could see a good number the next day!

I did my longest run (well in like the last 5 years) last night. I went for time so not totally sure of distance, but I went 45 minutes and I usually do about 10min miles so I feel good about saying I got in at least 3 miles. Usually I do 3 and call it a day, but I went a different route and then decided to just see if I could run the whole way back home. I could!

I didn't get the job I was interviewing for a couple weeks ago. I have been pretty bummed about it, but still on the hunt for another job. I hate when you know you are ready to leave, but don't have other options, I just want to say "sorry I am over this ****" about 5x a day! drr. Oh well, I should not complain, it is good to have employment and money and health insurance and all that...

Hey guys!

So despite yesterdays bad day I actually lost 0.2 lbs. Funny how that works sometimes, right? I did my best to stay hydrated, especially at the end of the night (downed a pint of water on the spot, I was feeling that thirsty!) so it must have helped on the scale this morning.

Today I've been MUCH better. I had greek yogurt and a banana for breakfast, 2 whole grain slices of toast with PB and I just did an Insanity workout (Pure Cardio). This morning I also prepped a chili recipe I found for the crock pot, it's cooking away as I type this filling the house with a chili smell! I really hope it's good, we're going to eat it tomorrow after leaving it to sit overnight. When I was cooking the ground beef with all the spices it smelled SO good. I wanted to just eat it as it was!

I'm going to take a shower, do some laundry and then do some paid work for the BF. I'm basically acting as his assistant until the end of the Christmas period, so today's task is to tie ribbons on envelopes. I'll have to learn how to tie a bow, but it'll be on their dime so hey ho!

------------------------------------

HDWD - Yeah, you're right, it is empowering to know you can make a difference to your life whenever you feel like it!! Congrats on another pound loss, you're killing it! Weight loss is like that for me too! If I workout consistently I'll stay the same, but then I don't workout for a day and eat like crap I tend to drop loads in weight...
That's so awesome about your run! I love it when that happens. Have you ever done a 10K?
Aww, I'm sorry to hear you didn't get the job. It must suck when you're so frustrated with your current job too. But you're right, gotta keep things in perspective - having a job is a blessing in disguise!
