aware you'll have to let us know how the videos are! I've considered getting them myself.

There's actually a place near me that offers Zumba for really cheap ($5 a class!) and some of the classes work with my schedule (even though they're late at night...8.15-9.15) and I've been thinking about trying them out. I hear such amazing things about Zumba!

week 1 for me today. I'm just glad to be down at all but I hate the feeling that i'm just losing weight I've regained. I know this sounds really unappreciative of the weight I've lost but I find it hard to see it as 'progress'.
ok, enough of that, wooo i'm down! happy sunday everyone :D

Hey everyone! I edited the first post to make it look more fancy and also introduce the CHALLENGE aspect to this craziness! So please take a look at what I've wrote and good luck! Charts will be compiled tomorrow and hopefully put up tomorrow too, so today is your last chance to get in those weights!

Also, please remember that since there are a LOT of people participating for WEEK ONE ONLY I'm going to be moving people to the standby list who haven't entered their starting weights, which means that when I erased them all a week ago they haven't been back since. Sorry for the confusion!

:carrot::cb:WELCOME TO THE BIKINI READY CHALLENGE OF 2012!:cb::carrot:

Hello! I did a Year End Goal challenge last year and I wanted to take the same format and make it BETTER for a Bikini Ready Challenge! "But wait, I don't think I'll be ready for a bikini this year!" I hear some of you cry, well don't you worry you sexy muffin panda, this challenge is all about losing weight for the summer months so there's a spring in your step and you feel more confident with your body than ever before - bikini ready or not!
"But wait, the challenge appears to already have started! I really want to join!" No problemo, my friend! The beauty of the spreadsheet format is that you can join in any time. Just make sure you read all the rules and information and you're all set!

The rules are simples!
  1. Go to the spreadsheet here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...GRQSlM5aTh1SUE
  2. Enter your username, start weight, then scroll over to the right and enter your goal weight. Please remember when entering your starting weight it's the weight that you're at starting THIS challenge - not you're overall starting weight. Also, please do NOT put __ lbs as your starting weight, it messes up with the spreadsheet formulas!
  3. Each week enter your weight between Monday and Sunday, whichever day you prefer to weigh in.
  4. Finally, LEAVE THE LAST 3 COLUMNS ON THE RIGHT ALOONNNEEE. DON'T TOUCH THEM! AH AH! I SAID NO TOUCHING. YES, BACK AWAY. THANK YOU, PLEASE. You may thinking entering your own data manually is helping - it's not. I am your monkey slave for this challenge so let me take care of everything.

The random bits of info you also need to remember!
  • Please be careful when using the spreadsheet, I've had to rearrange columns and re-enter data because of carelessness. I'm doing my best to make sure the spreadsheet is neat and tidy!
  • If you don’t weigh in for more than 2 weeks, I will move you to the stand by sheet. Your information is still there, but it just cleans up the main spreadsheet so the people who are actively participating are only shown. If you jump back in PLEASE DO! Just post in the thread that you want to hop back in and I’ll move you back onto the main spread sheet.
  • I also created a group on Fitocracy for any users who want to be accountable for exercise during the challenge. The group is here: http://www.fitocracy.com/group/4702/ - if you want to join the site then I have 9 invites going!

:carrot::cb:AND FINALLY, LET'S NOT FORGET THE CHALLENGE SIDE TO THIS AWESOMENESS!:cb::carrot:

This year I really want to emphasise that this is a challenge as well as a great way to stay accountable. "What do I have to do?" Nothing! Just keep entering your weights every week and I will sort out the rest. But basically I'm going to be monitoring your progress each week to find out who are our biggest losers for the week and giving the top 20 people points based on where they rank. So for example if you're the number one for the week you get 20 points and if you're number 20 you get 1 point.
"How are the ranks decided?" By your percentage of weight loss, which basically means how much of YOU you have you lost, not how many pounds you have lost. This is fair because people who are at a higher weight tend to lose more pounds than those who are close to their goals. It's also how they decide who's the winner on The Biggest Loser :D

Below you will see 2 shiny charts, one is the overall ranking of who has lost the highest percentage of weight loss, and the other is a chart based on who is kissing a$$ each week and getting all the points - so basically the challenge chart!

The challenge started the first week in January and will go for 25 weeks, which takes us to June. Remember the thread is always there to talk and discuss how you’re doing, so please pop by and say hello every so often =).

well, i think i eat quite a lot. for example today i had: 1. bowl of muesli, 2. wholegrain bread slice with ricotta cheese, 3. ribs (2 bones) with potatoes, 4. fruit yoghurt. I think that will be all (right now i had meal no. 3) for today.
i'm seriously thinking about getting myself some protein bars or protein shakes, to replace 1 meal with it. maybe that would help? :?:
i do think that my workout routine is playing some role there. because i'm starting with my 10k preparations in february, i've added up strenght training (for 2 months now), so a part of this weight could be muscle gaining. i can actually see muscles building up on my arms, back and stomatch, so it is possible ... and i do like that look! but i REALLY REALLY REALLY want to be 145 pounds, too :D ARGH!!! :D

aware210 01-08-2012 01:43 PM

back down to 131 today! All the water weight from the holidays is goooone! lol I feel much better to be back where i was, and now i can start going down. some more 16-23 more pounds to lose!

Its funny how much of a difference those 7 pounds made on my stomach, 138 felt sooo bloated, and 131 feels soo flat and slim. If only the weight would come off my butt and hips as easily.

Sexy.....muffin.....panda? Lollllll. Thanks for the laugh. :)

crazygurl61 01-08-2012 03:20 PM

Ah! 149.2 today. Sore muscles from being at Disneyland all day. Hoping some of it depletes tomorrow for weigh in. A discouraging day.

lisa4621 01-08-2012 05:02 PM

Just weighed in and 1lb lost this week. Not too bad as since my spinning class my knee has hurt too much to go back to the gym. I am going to go on Tuesday and take it easy the first couple of days to see how it goes.

You're welcome! It's the perfect pet name formula: adjective + something delicious + an animal.

I'M IN!

MusicalAstronaut 01-08-2012 10:26 PM

Welllll after 5 days at Disney World....I didn't change at all. :/ That's better than a gain, and I kind of did eat cotton candy and ice cream while there. :P So it could have been worse. Tuesday I start my half marathon training. Wish me luck!

Hello everyone! This is it, WEEK ONE RESULTS! Considering this is week one, they also count as the overall results too.

By the end of the week there were 102 people listed on the spreadsheet.
I have had to move 12 people to the stand by list.
There are now 90 people remaining in the challenge!

Congratulations to Addicted for taking the top spot with a massive 4 lb loss in this difficult first week of January! And a huge congrats to all the top 20!

Let's work hard and try and get our fine behinds in the top 20!

Addicted 01-09-2012 07:28 AM

Thanks Riestrella! Really though, I had been sick and unable to eat! This week wasn't so good... Well done to everyone!

noelle8310 01-09-2012 08:27 AM

I had lost two pounds throughout the week. Yesterday morning I weighed 207 on the dot. Today I weighed 212.8. I want to cry right now.

 Don't feel sad! Do you weigh in every day at the same time? Maybe your scales need new batteries if they're electronic? Or you might just been retaining water, so drink up that h20 goodness! The spreadsheet weights for the week are always changeable up until Sunday so if you manage to get down then come back and change it! I always weigh in on a Sunday to give myself the whole week to work hard, and choose the lowest weight from the week as my weight.
