drs scales are just weird...i dont trust them ever

Haley - Nice job on the practice LSATs and AWESOME on swimming with wild sharks. I freaking love sharks. They're amazing, beautiful creatures. I want to go scuba diving with hammerheads in the Galapagos one day.
Jenny - Awesome job on that kick *** workout. See, you can channel negative energy into positiveness and it pays off! You're rocking it. Good job :) And holy 40 minute run. Aliquot - Depends on what it was. If it was something delicious like rice krispie treats, count me in. It doesn't phase me that there's HFCS. I don't eat it every day. I don't even eat it every week. But if I want it, I'm going to give it to myself. As a reward for being good and awesome. Plain and simple. I love me some "bad" treats. I'm human, not perfect. Feral - **** EFFIN' YEAH! 184! A lot of it just has to do with water. If I weigh myself the second I wake up and then sit around for about another hour without doing much, I've sometimes randomly dropped 2 pounds. I attribute that to water. Also, you probably threw your body out of whack this weekend so it's trying to achieve homeostasis and balance itself out. Stella - Hope your presentation went well and you're refreshing NHL on a minute by minute basis! Star - Where you at? We ARE running SunTrust. I'm probably gonna do the marathon. I just found out a blog buddy of mine David is running it so I'm determined to do it. We've still got awhile for sign up though so no worries :) |
JESS- definitly not a run, a minor jog...two different things to me! I don't think I could ever be a runner, and the funny thing was, the whole time I was jogging, I was thinking of you, thinking "how in the **** does Jess do this everyday!!" and then I got slower and slower, but its funny because I can do so much more with my body, but running, isn't one of them, I think its because I forget to breathe...my goal is to learn how to run in 2010, and I'm gonna get better at it! One day at a time right!!
|
Jenny - Yes ma'am! The first thing you have to do is cross out "I don't think I am ever going to be a runner" and change it to "I am a runner. I need to work and train at it." If you believe and completely alter your thinking, it'll make it less tedious. It's just channeling your energy into a different type of focus. And I do NOT run 40 minutes every day. Rest days are crucial. And it's normal to get slower and slower. I wear a watch to pace myself but usually my last mile or so is dreadful.
By the way, there's no difference between a run/jog, at least not in my mind. As long as it's faster than a walk, it's a run. Don't focus on speed and just keep practicing endurance :) Definitely focus on the breathing and your form. It really helps in injury prevention. Even with shoes, practice landing on the ball of your foot instead of your heels. It'll feel awkward at first and your calves will be super sore, but when you start training those muscles, you'll start utilizing your body's natural impact absorption so LESS pain/injuries! Plus, sign up for a 5K near you. Races are awesome. They push you to really go for it and you feel so rewarded when you finish. I'm not kidding. It's like this huge sense of accomplishment that a pound on the scale can't even replace. You can do it Jenny! |
Thanks for the advice Jess. Your the best!! That's one of the best "to me" posts I ever recieved!!! lol. I am a runner and one of these days, I'll get it done!! I actually signed up for a 13k September 19th, so I'm gonna get training!!
|
Jess - I said "meal bar" as in meal replacement bar. Not a treat. AND they are advertised as "FIT bars".
Sorry, it really just "grinds my gears" so to speak. THE FIRST FOUR INGREDIENTS ARE SUGAR FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. Its 220 calories. I can have a freaking turkey sandwich for less than that which is a **** of a lot tastier and satisfying than just eating a stupid bar. |
hey gang. i am up on cough medicine right now. sinus pressure + tom + raw throat is definitely not a good combination.
okay personals sam - that is why you have to read labels. it is so crucial. just because sugar gives you energy does not mean it is what your body needs. i could have 3 snickers bars and have it be more nutritionally sound than half that crap. Good job on doing your research and not taking the product for face value. Its that type of stuff that will help us stay healthy in the long run jenny - i completely agree with jess. you are a runner. unless there is something that you cant control that prevents your from running, you can do it. Crossing that finish line is like being on cloud 9. The "runner's high" really does exist. Awesome job on the workout. you are going to be my inspiration for me to get up and workout tomorrow morning. jess - i am alive. oh the marathon is on like donkey kong (yes I said it). I am going to do a half at the end of august also. Its going to be awesome. I cant wait. Have you started training? i tried to start this week then my sinuses snuck up on me like a heart attack. But still ran 3 miles today. lus we will find a way to get you to the rva. plane train or automobile feral - i concur with all d-bag statements that have been made. No 2 scales are the same. but that's awesome on the 184. See you are doing it. Feel better. Take it easy. okay still trying to see straight. At least I am not drunk of off cough medicine like i was yesterday at work. That was umm interesting stella - how long did you go low carb for? I had never really thought about it, but it makes sense so that you body will take them in. i ate baked kale chips the other day. i got my share of "seriously?!?!" stares. lauren - i never knew that about horses. i learned something today (i definitely wont at work). btw you are just a ball of sound advice. its always great stuff to read. I think my stagnant weight loss is part self-sabotage and part not eating enough to fuel my body. I think i might be at the stage where i need to concentrate on toning as opposed to dropping a lot more weight. It took a co-worker saying something for me to actually get it. The self-sabotage comes from me getting close to a certain number and thinking eating a few extra snacks will be just fine. Oh the vicious cycle. Okay now that i have finally admitted all this to myself, I just need a game plan. i had a meeting with my boss today that went oh so well. NOT. My bosses kept dangling a promotion in front of my face only to tell me today that it was complete bs, but they could create a position for me in another department for the same pay. I could take it and um get the experience, but that would just be too easy. That was the final straw for me and so now my time is going to be spent job hunting. |
sooo tired. kickboxing does that to you. i've been eating crappy still... i need to snap out of it! here's to being healthy tomorrow!!
|
jazz - i am with you on that one. staying on plan tomorrow
|
Jenny - That's my girl! That's what I like to hear. Having a race there will be kind of intimidating but will force you to get your butt into gear. I mean, the most important thing about the race is to finish. Nobody cares about the time (maybe except for you) but we like to see that picture of you crossing the finish line!
Aliquot - OHHHH. I read it wrong. My bad. Yeah, I don't really do meal replacement bars. I like eating a lot of food, quantity wise. That does sound like a LOT of calories for a small bar though. Star - There's a bus to RVA! So I'll get there. Alright! Marathon is ON. Even if it snows, I'm doing it. I'm currently training to run the full 10K in Vibrams. It's a LOT harder than with shoes (damn blisters) but I got up to 5 miles yesterday in 57:41. My 10K is in May and the Half is about 2 weeks after. I might have to run the Half with shoes if my feet don't man up. Definitely go with weight lifting. It's a beautiful thing that muscle sits there and burns fat. Your body has to burn a lot of calories rebuilding your muscles too and it makes you feel strong / prevents injuries. If you're looking for an awesome leg workout, look into deadlifts (clean and romanian) and walking lunges. I'm going to start training for the marathon after the Half. David's done a few (a LOT) of marathons so I'm getting some tips from him that I'll send over to you. Jess - I still need to take a kickboxing class at 24! |
Star/Jess - yeah I am just annoyed because someone I know basically eats one every day for a meal and I'm like DUDE YOU COULD HAVE LIKE FOUR BOWLS OF SOUP OR SOMETHING INSTEAD OF THAT. Or a sandwich. Or a big salad. jfeioawjfe. She frustrates me.

Ok I am totally starting over tomorrow. Totally.
Btw does anyone know what dreaming of someone sleeping means in indian culture? I mean Asian Indian, not Native American Indian. Google has no idea >.< |
Alright ladies! Get your butts back in gear!
It's Thursday...lets have a super day, eat healthy, stay on plan, and get some movement! Ali - isn't that funny...how people think its good for you just because it states healthy...them things really grind my gears too!!! Jazz - snap out of it! lol. You can do it girly! hope you all have a great day! I'm off to work, might be able to check in later! See ya's! |
Feral - 184? Go girl!!! Don't question, just go with it! haha I'm so glad that one of us is seeing some movement on that scale. I also concur with Stella on the ZPak...I am typically given those for upper respiratory infections (of which I get many...allegedly my prior premie status impacted my respiratory development such that I get infections easily and also am chronically congested...literally can never breath out of my nose 100%). It's a nice quick course of antibiotic. The Mucinex can also be lovely for getting rid of said congestion (doesn't last long for me). One strange thing though: The active ingredient is guaifenesin (breaks up congestion) and it will make your pee smell REALLY weird. Drives me nuts...overshare, I know, but don't panic if you've never used it before.
Jenny - Look at you go! You took what would have been a lazy day for me (rainy and icky) and worked out like a rockstar! Congrats on going with the motivation! Starmac - Thank you for your kind words! The support that I have gotten on here has been go great...I hope that I can help somebody else half as much. Jess - I know it sounds sorta bad that he wasn't helping me load stuff, but he's been on a month of midnight shifts and had pulled a double that day. The poor guy had only had about 3 hours of sleep and wanted to spend time with me (half dead on the gator beeping the damn horn). Generally, he's of the "don't let the ladies do the heavy lifting". He's pretty handy to have around. Also, by doing it myself I got the exercise and knew that it was being done to my satisfaction. I literally combed the area with a fine rake...he probably wouldn't have taken that kind of time for the task! lol __________ Ended up having left over fajita fillings for dinner. It's mainly chicken and veggies (a small portion of spanish rice was the worst). I was going to make the fried rice, but my timing was close with the hubby having to get ready for work. Maybe we'll do that tonight in the cooker. I finished moving the blessed wood pile. I did 8 loads in the gator, so a total of 10 between the two nights to get it done. There were some fairly large post sections and plywood boards, so I would say it was a decent workout overall. No snakes to speak of. It was warmer and sunny when I started, so I figured I was pretty safe...that they would be out sunning somewhere, not deep in the pile. I had a field mouse jump out at one point, so that made me feel alot better. He's not going to hang around snakes! I also displaced a toad. I feel really bad about it, because he kept moving to the next piece of wood until they were all gone. I ruined his little life by taking his home! lol For the record, the hubby was mowing the fields, so he was productive, too! MY BABIES COME HOME TOMORROW!!! I don't think I'll sleep at all tonight. I've ordered a few last minute things for the barn that are coming in today and tomorrow. Part of that is a set of clippers I've been after for years! My body clippers are about as long as Tyke (mini), so I need something smaller to touch him up once I de-yak him. The entire episode will be the stuff of legend, I'm sure. He's never even seen the clippers...thank god he's small enough to force into submission! ;D |
Misplaced- Aw I feel so bad for the toad! I hate when that happens. To me, toads are like the cutest little creatures ever. Frogs and toads have been my favorite animals since I was like 4 and nothing has ever been able to replace them. I love them.
---- Okay, I really don't have time to do anything right now or write personals (except for the one right above me because I saw she wrote about a toad... lol) but I'm freaking out because my finals are all one after the other today, starting in 2 hours. Need a freak out break from studying. My WI was 195.4 today which is so far down 2 lb since Sunday. Probably so low because I didn't have supper last night though. I was very upset and rather than eat and get bingey like I would have, I chose to go to bed instead, and it helped some. My grandma has been really sick the past few years, and these last couple of months she's been in and out of the hospital constantly. She's decided she doesn't want to live anymore and they're taking her off the ventilator today. I understand it's her time to go, and if she hadn't been on that ventilator or feed tube she would have died awhile ago, and I don't want her to suffer anymore. But it's just really sad. Up until a couple years ago I had the most energetic, joyful, healthy, loveable grandma, and then she got cancer and it's just been super downhill, and I feel like she aged 30 years in the past 3 years. :( So I'm just sitting around waiting for my exams to start and waiting for the news from the family. Going to try and study a bit more. |
