I'm a labor and delivery nurse. If you look at the studies female nurses are one of the most overweight jobs there is. We take care of everyone except ourselves. So we all decided to get together and "Get Fit and Fine in '09" So lately I have been getting assignments that are on opposite ends of the hallway so I have to walk a whole lot more to get to them. Its been great since no one will bring in any junk food anymore, and if you even attempt to eat something not close to being on the diet you'll get an earful. I think its helping me a lot.
im a paralegal so i sit alot i used to walk alot before i moved 3 flights a stairs at my condo a few times a day. no i have to get my workout in half before work and the other half after work. the worst part is lunch gets brought in to us everyday and i dont have the choice of what it is we are such a small office my boss' mom brings it in so i just have to eat less and eat better snacks like fruit too many companies bring us sweets so i just now have to pass its hard bc its right there but i have to be strong
My job right now is not active, although I try to get up whenever I can. But I try to walk to work and lunch as much as I can. That's at least 1.2 miles and up to about 4.
I'm a paraprofessional, a waitress and a basketball coach. As long as I stay on top of things, I can plan far enough ahead to control my food intake, but have issues finding time for exercise...
i'm a policy research analyst, so my only work-related exercise is moving my mouse hand and double clicking.
the one saving grace is that i have my own office, so sometimes i close the door and try and do some stretches. this only happens very rarely though. and i go up and down a few flights of stairs getting to and from the subway each day. but that's basically it, outside of actual workouts in the gym.

Kelly - where are you studying and what in particular? that's so interesting. in another lifetime, i used to study this a little bit and spent a summer living with a refugee family in Dharamsala (Mcleod Ganj) and also visited communities in and around Leh in Ladakh.
I am a gymnastics coach so the first few weeks my body dropped a bunch of inches and weight, now that my body is used to tossing girls and spotting them it has stopped. I think being in the gym and seeing the girls do things I used to be able to do has helped tremendously. I also want to be able to say here do this and if I can do it you guys sure can. So far that's happened with push ups and that's all I am going to try for. lol I do count the workout that I get there into my caloric burn because it's on my sensewear that I burned X cals today.
I work in food service at a hospital. I do alot of walking, pushing and pulling heavy carts, washing dishes. But the atmosphere is toxic and I eat from stress and depression. Trying to put a lid on that.
I do really fun and educating girls' night out parties The plus side of WL for me is I feel a lot more outgoing & it gives me a chance to really enjoy myself! I also have to carry a lot in and out of their houses & it doesn't leave me sore anymore.
I also do grant research & writing for a local zoo in New Orleans but I do it from home Not much activity there though! It does help fund the wildlife rehab I do and I can do that now without being exhausted!

I am a photojournalist (walking, bending, carry equipment), nanny for 2 families (fairly active) and elder care resource manager (I only do this 2x a week and do a LOT of sitting but try to squeeze in some work on my res. band, sit-ups or squats).
I work out 5 days a week approx 30 min. weights/res. training and 30-60 cardio. I also do yoga 1x a week. I try to do more when I can (leg lifts when watching TV, more squats lol, that kind of stuff).
I don't really count work activity towards exercise but I will count a shopping marathon, 19 loads of laundry at the laundrymat (tonight! yikes!) or something active like ice skating or swimming.
I have myself on a calorie limit of 1600 balanced calories but I typically take in about 1350-1450 but never below 1200. I've lost 70 pounds since May 2008- though I took about 2 months off (maintained) and made quite a few slip ups!
im a notetaker for the disabilities service at my uni. I sit all day, so its not great exercise. But on the other hand, i cant type/write and eat at the same time
