I actually hopped on the scale today before I got in the shower. BUT it was after I had dinner and had been eating all day (I usually weigh first thing in the morning w/an empty stomach ) AND I was at 225 which means as of now, I've lost 4lbs so I think I'm gonna do well on this Monday's weigh in!!

here too--- i'm doing well for monday's weigh in--- weighed in at 155 yesterday and then 148.8 today--- so two oz. since then---

oh and as for not being able to do an hour angel--- i was going to tell you that you already were---but you already found that out--- keep up the good work---

as for me--- today i did two biggest loser workouts ---high intensity cardio and boot camp--- so a tough day---

i'm in for the half hour to an hour workout a day--- so i'll keep ya posted on what i'm doing for each day---planning on doing another double day tomorrow and then just doing boot camp on saturday-- and then starting up week 5 of the biggest loser on sunday-- so that would be back to low intensity cardio

i lost 5lbs with the 30 day shred-- and jump started my weight loss with it -- i was stuck at a plateu for like 2 months and finally got out of it when i hit like the third level of the shred--- -make sure you keep track of both weight and inches you lose from it--- i tracked the last level of the shred and found that i lost 4in in the third level alone--- i have no idea what i lost overall but i went from an 11 to a 9 and now two weeks after i finished it i can wear like 5's 7-8 and 9's depending on the brand of jeans

oh and the trick to getting out of my plateau was that i combined the biggest loser workout with it --- so i guess i wasnt working out long enough with the shred alone and got results better when i went for a longer workout by combing the biggest loser workout with it

I've only lost a pound so far this week, but that's after being stuck at 195 for over a week. I'm hoping to lose at least another pound by weigh-in.

so how about we get to know each other a bit more so here's a few questions.. feel free to add your own so i'll start it --- and obviously feel free to skip any that you dont feel comfortable answering

1. Why did you choose to lose weight now? Did you one day just wake up and realize that you needed to lose? Are you doing it for your child/for your own health/or significant other??

2. WHat led up to you putting on the weight?

3. What's your biggest weight loss realization? Or what are you doing to lose the weight

4. How did you choose your GW? Was it from your younger days or cause your friends who are that weight look good?

5. What are you avoiding now that you are working on your fitness/weight/ and body

6. What do you do for a workout and how do you feel afterwards? And what are your goals in terms of fitness/working out when you get there for instance after doing say 30 day shred what other workouts are you ready to do?

I'm doing it for my son and for me b/c the more i put on weight with my pregnancy the more i hated myself and my appearance--- my whole body ached i couldnt move as much as i wanted to ====and the realization that i did not for the life of me want to see myself in the 200 range--- i was just shy of it when i delivered almost 10 months ago?

Also my dad's a diabetic and i know the importance of eating and taking care of yourself in the prevention of diabetise ( ya i think i mispelled that) --- and my bmi before pregnancy was always borderline healthy/overweight where if i put on like 2-3 lbs more i would of been in the overweight column depending on how it was calculated.

i'm also doing it b/c my husband is tall and thin and i dont mind looking short next to him but i hate looking fat next to him ---

2. WHat led up to you putting on the weight?
A lot of unhealthy eating---pizza and fast food several times a week -everyday almost sometimes-- lack of movement--i'd go home after work or school and my siblings would be sitting around watching tv all day and the only natural thing for me to do at the time was to do that too--- and now i barely turn on the tv unless its to do a workout --- i've moved out and have my own place i can choose what i want to eat without having that kind of food thrown at me and just being there made me lazy.. oh and those awful all you can eat restaurants ---

MOst of all this led up to my problems with pregnancy i put on too much weight way too quickly was even tested for diabetes (you know the pregnancy related one) luckily i didnt have it but then the more weight i put on the more uncomfortable i got to the point where my last two months of pregnancy were mostly spent on the couch cause my water retention was so bad and i kept going into what felt like labor ---only to realize later that my body really was trying to go into labor but i couldnt do it myself---by the time my water broke at 39 weeks my baby was considered to be at least 2 weeks overdue so they were way off in calculations and i had to be induced cause my contractions wouldnt do anything for me but make me miserable--- anyway --- i think it's really a result of being that high in weight (i put on 46+lbs and i'm finally rid of them)

3. What's your biggest weight loss realization? Or what are you doing to lose the weight

That I don't want to be one of those mommies that put on the weight and kept it on and then some--- i want to be able to run around after my boy and keep him active in sports and eating right---and if i want to do that i need to work on it now ---

so i'm making healthier food options experimenting with healthy recipes from some weight watcher's books and choosing the healthiest meal options when we go out ---

and for the life of me avoid all you can eat dumps.. they are just excuses to eat way more than you need to

i'm also working out to the biggest loser and incorporating some wii fit in there and now i'll be adding some dance dance revolution too

4. How did you choose your GW? Was it from your younger days or cause your friends who are that weight look good?

I choose mine of 125 cause when i was that weight i felt great i could eat what i wanted and just plain felt sexy you know --- and i felt that at like 125-130 so i'm shooting for 125 so that i can maintain in that range

5. What are you avoiding now that you are working on your fitness/weight/ and body

fast food--- all you can eat dumps--- staying too long at my parents cause then i cant get my workout in---and i'm too tempted to eat junk

6. What do you do for a workout and how do you feel afterwards? And what are your goals in terms of fitness/working out when you get there for instance after doing say 30 day shred what other workouts are you ready to do?
biggest loser workout--- i did the shred for 30 days and then i felt the urge to keep going but to switch up the workout so i started doing biggest loser and now that i've done the shred i'm fitter and i can push through any workout i put my mind to---so now i'm working my way up to tae bo---
ok thats enough i wrote way too much---maybe next time i should just do bullet points haha---

I chose to lose weight now mainly for my health, yeah looking good is part of it but I don't want to grow up and have health problems because of my weight when I could have prevented it.

I've always been the "fat girl" in my family, my parents never cared about my weight so much but it was my aunts, uncles, grandparents, and cousins. I hated being compared to them as if I was so different. Every time I ate it was ," watch what you eat, watch your weight" blah blah blah and then if I didn't eat it was ,"how come you're not eating, you're not hungry?" It was always the same thing. I was the fat one in the family photos, I was the one buying size 12's or 14's while my cousins were size 2's and 4's. Granted I don't want to be that small but it always made me awkward when they wanted me to go to the mall with them. I hated not being able to find cute clothes in my size.

I feel like such and outcast to my family. I know they talk about me, but it's in a different language and I was never taught it when I was younger, but I know that my name is Shauna and I don't like hearing my name being said when I don't know what they're saying. I always assume it's about my weight when I know that may not always be true. I just don't like the feeling. Actually at the moment I'm not on speaking terms with one of my closest cousins mainly because of my insecurities. I completely cut her off and I haven't spoken to her in months. I hate the fact that she's the family favorite while I get the cold shoulder from everyone and I'm constantly being compared to her. She's the pretty, skinny, well-dressed over-achiever while I'm just the fat one who took a year off from school in order to change majors and switch schools.

I know I'm rambling but I don't really have anyone else to talk to. My boyfriend knows all of this and he doesn't really know what to say. I just don't like being under constant scrutiny from people who are supposed to love me no matter what. I've avoided my entire family (minus my parents, siblings and grandparents) for months now. I've avoided them because I honestly think that if I hear negative comments from them it will be unhealthy for my weight loss and just put me in a bad mood. Who knows, maybe one day I'll get to my goal weight and be able to put all of this behind me and just be happy with myself.

2. What led up to you putting on the weight?

When I was younger I played soccer for years. That's when I was at my skinniest and fittest. After I quit it all went downhill from there LOL. I consistently gained weight due to my lack of running (which I did for soccer everyday for miles) and eating crap. That's pretty much it though. My parents aren't fat, not even close. So it was just making poor choices in what I ate and how much I ate.

3. What's your biggest weight loss realization? Or what are you doing to lose the weight

My biggest weight loss realization is I just don't want to be unhealthy anymore. Going up a flight of stairs used to KILL me, now I can go up a few flights and not break a sweat. LOL. I just want to be healthy and happy with myself. I have really poor self esteem and I don't want to be so self conscious anymore.

For food, I'm counting calories and really limiting carbs like bread, pasta, and rice. I will have some rarely, but when I do I notice I won't lose any weight for that week so I try to really watch out for them. I exercise 5 days a week Monday through Friday and I just started doing the 30 day shred but I also do my own strength training and cardio.

4. How did you choose your GW? Was it from your younger days or cause your friends who are that weight look good?

I chose my goal weight based on a healthy BMI for my height and age. But at the same time if I end up being more than that and I'm happy with the way I look then I'll stop at where ever it may be.

5. What are you avoiding now that you are working on your fitness/weight/ and body

Definitely avoiding bread, pasta, and rice. BAD BAD BAD (well at least for me). They just make me gain weight. I've completely cut out soda ( I was never big on it anyways), red meat, pork and all junk food. I stick to chicken, fish, fresh fruits and vegetables. And LOTS of water, which I am still getting used to. Before I could eat an entire meal and not drink a single sip of water. I just never got thirsty, now I make sure to drink before during and after my meals.

6. What do you do for a workout and how do you feel afterwards? And what are your goals in terms of fitness/working out when you get there for instance after doing say 30 day shred what other workouts are you ready to do?
I do the 30 day shred and my own strength training and cardio. I also mix in some pilates as well. I also have Jillian Michaels Frontside and Backside DVD's. Most likely after the 30 day shred I'll start doing those DVD's doing one every other day. For example, Monday, Wednesday and Friday will be Frontside and Tuesday Thursday and Saturday will be backside and I'll give myself Sunday off. It's just an idea for now, but hopefully when the time comes I'll stick to it.

oOoOo I like it! BTW, I'm pretty sure I haven't lost weight, I don't know why because I've been on plan and exercising everyday!

1. Why did you choose to lose weight now? Did you one day just wake up and realize that you needed to lose? Are you doing it for your child/for your own health/or significant other??
I have PCOS, I guess that's one large factor in why I'm trying to lose weight. The more I lose the more likely it will be that I can have babies. I've wanted a baby all my life and the thought of not being able to have one crushes me big time.
Also I'm sick of the way I look, I've been at this since I was 8 but there's just something different about it this time. I'm more ready then i've ever been.

2. WHat led up to you putting on the weight?
Insulin resistence has a huge factor with me. I balloned up when I was 11. In the space of 6 months I had gone from a little chubby, but healthy, to fully blown obese.
I'm also a compulsive over eater. I can control my brec, lunch and dinner easily but binges take me over and I eat 3000 kcals plus in one sitting.

3. What's your biggest weight loss realization? Or what are you doing to lose the weight
I tried low carb, because I thought it would be the most effective but I'm a vegetarian and it's so hard to do low carb on my diet. So right now I am walking an average of 5 miles a day and I do free weights, sit ups, push ups, jumping jacks excetra at night. I'm waiting on the biggest loser dvd so I'll start that soon.
My biggest realisation would be that it's not nearly as complex as I try to make it, when you break it down eating right and exercise is always a winner.

4. How did you choose your GW? Was it from your younger days or cause your friends who are that weight look good?
Neither. I chose it because it's a weight that would be a dream come true for me. It's healthy for my height as well.

5. What are you avoiding now that you are working on your fitness/weight/ and body
foodwise? all my binging weeknesses, chocolate, icecream, crisps and fizzy drinks. I've gone 32 days without them. I'm also avoiding bread and heavy carbs. I can't really do low carb but I am sticking to the healthier ones.
Other then food I am avoiding things like the cinema, I find it hard to not go there and eat a lot. Generally I'm avoiding a social situation where I'm hungry, have money and have no healthy food to eat...it's a diaster.

6. What do you do for a workout and how do you feel afterwards? And what are your goals in terms of fitness/working out when you get there for instance after doing say 30 day shred what other workouts are you ready to do?
Right now it's just walking, cycling and weights and situps etc. I'm waiting for the BL dvd and I want the 30 day shred for xmas, seems to have good results. It takes a while for me to feel really good after a work out but once I do it's a great feeling.
I have dreams of running, I am way to self concious to run now I wouldn't do it if you paid me. But once I'm down in weight and up in fitness I'm going to start the CT5K plan and take it from there. I used to run and I found it really relaxing. I can't wait till the day I can start again.

1. Why did you choose to lose weight now? Did you one day just wake up and realize that you needed to lose? Are you doing it for your child/for your own health/or significant other??

I had always been a heavy girl. And honestly by some stroke of genius, when I was around 17 I just started losing weight. Maybe I was eating different a didnt' notice?!?!? But I went from 220lbs to 160. Now I've gained it all back and I know its not gonna fall off this time. Between that and some issues that have arisen with my significant other I decided it time to get my big butt in shape.

2. WHat led up to you putting on the weight?

I believe the major reason I gained weight, was I was in a happy loving relationship. I got comfortable and we ate out ALL the time when we were dating. Between that and moving out and eating junk. I gained 80lbs from my skinny weight.

3. What's your biggest weight loss realization? Or what are you doing to lose the weight

My biggest realization was, its not gonna happen over night. I'm all about instant gratification in every aspect of my life. And I wanted me weight loss to be the same. I'm currently working out and following the South Beach diet.

4. How did you choose your GW? Was it from your younger days or cause your friends who are that weight look good? My goal weight was just the lowest weight I believe I could ever be and look healthy, not overly skinny. I remember when I was 160 and I def could've stood to lose another 20lbs then.

5. What are you avoiding now that you are working on your fitness/weight/ and body

I'm avoiding eating out, and certain gatherings with my friends, especially the ones who don't respect the fact I'm dieting and wanna shove food in my face.

6. What do you do for a workout and how do you feel afterwards? And what are your goals in terms of fitness/working out when you get there for instance after doing say 30 day shred what other workouts are you ready to do?

I'm currently using my eliptical for cardio. I ordered the 30DS and can't wait to get it. I don't have free weights I use occasionally for my arm muscles and do pilates 3-4x/week.

1. Why did you choose to lose weight now? Did you one day just wake up and realize that you needed to lose? Are you doing it for your child/for your own health/or significant other??

I've been working on losing weight since we had our first son in 2005. I finally got under 200, I was 198, when I started gaining again. I was actually taking Alli at the time and believe that had helped me out tremendously. I started gaining weight due to starting a new job where I sat for hours. Then we got pregnant again and I gained the weight back. Still I was 10 lbs under my highest weight, which was when I was pregnant with our first son. Now I am working harder than ever to lose this weight. For my kids, for my husband, for myself! I deserve to be happy and skinny like I used to be.

2. WHat led up to you putting on the weight?

When I started dating my husband, we ate out a lot. We drank a lot. We did a lot of stupid things. He made me feel beautiful and just awesome, so I didn't watch anything I ate. I just ate it. Then we got married and became pregnant with our first son. I gained 60+ lbs with the pregnancy. Nobody told me to not take the whole "eating for two" literally. I ate so badly, thinking back I can't believe I ate like that! Taco Bell all the time and DQ strawberry shortcake sundaes...I don't even know what the final calorie count was each day. Then I got preclampsia- high blood pressure, bad edema, even worse weight gain. I gained the majority of my weight in the last 3 months. I was wearing my pre-pregnancy clothes up until then. I got over 200 lbs and was like that for about 5 years. Getting pregnant again, of course, didn't help the weight issue. I was definitely watching what I ate this time. I only gained about 27 lbs. I already lost 20 of it, so I'm close to what I was before I was pregnant this last time.

3. What's your biggest weight loss realization? Or what are you doing to lose the weight

I'm all for instant gratification too! When I want something to happen, I want it to happen asap. It is had for me to wait for this weight to come off. I realize, though, after being this overweight for going on 6 years that doing it slowly is better than not doing it at all. If it takes me a year, it's better than it taking 2 or even 5 years.

4. How did you choose your GW? Was it from your younger days or cause your friends who are that weight look good?

I was 155-160 when I was 18. I thought I was fat then, but looking at pictures of me back then, I was looking really good! I really want to get back into my old clothes too!!!!

5. What are you avoiding now that you are working on your fitness/weight/ and body

I don't eat fried foods, no buffets!!, no candy, no soda. So far, so good.

6. What do you do for a workout and how do you feel afterwards? And what are your goals in terms of fitness/working out when you get there for instance after doing say 30 day shred what other workouts are you ready to do?

I do 30DS and BL everyday. I feel like I accomplished something, because I feel stronger each day. I can do a little more than I did the day before and that is an awesome feeling. I feel like I'm training for the army again.(I trained for the National Guard when I turned 17 in January. Went to boot camp that summer, was in the BEST shape of my life! Drill sergeants are the best fitness trainers.)

How's everyone doing with exercise and eating? I've been really good this week. I've exercised every day and watched what I ate. I still need to exercise today though. It snowed here in PA on Friday, so my older son and I went out and played. He was really excited to have snow on the ground again. It was our first real snow.
I'm really hoping for a good weigh in tomorrow! Hopefully I have lost 2 lbs, that is my goal to lose 2 lbs every week. Although, if I only lose one, that is better than none!
