Default Favorite Snacks

I was hoping we could start a thread on snacks and get/give ideas for everyone!

I love cheese and I found the Quakers Mini Rice Cakes (9 cakes = 70 calories). I also like chocolate and found the Quakers Granola Chocolate Mini Bites (1 package = 90 calories). And of course the good old standby of baby carrots dipped in Fat-Free Ranch.

Anyone else have healthy yummies they love to eat?

i love fruit as a snack..from strawberries, papaya, pears, watermelon and granny smith apples! i like snacking on nature valley granola bars too. oh yeah, cheese too..can't get enough of my string cheese. lol

if i ever want something a little salty, i'd get a slice of honey turkey, add a little bit of spicy brown mustard, and roll it up!

I'm a fan of the 100 calorie bags of microwave popcorn.
I also often make a plate of green veggies (must contain red peppers too though, mmmm) with either a side of low-calorie poppyseed dressing (my new favourite) or hummous.
I also really enjoy those Special K snack bars, all flavours, but the strawberry is my favourite. I try to keep my fruit to a minimum for snacks as in this weather I tend to often eat fruit salad for breakfast and don't want to overdue my fructose.
Fudgscicles can also be good if you find the right brand (90 cals of mmmm delish!).

Crudite plate with bell pepper, broccoli, carrot, cucumber, and the dressing I use for my taco salads (its ff sour cream with cumin, chili powder, garlic, and pepper, and maybe a splash of tabasco...tastes like a taco seasoning packet without all the icky preservatives and excess sodium).

Brother's All Natural Fruit Crisps (40-60 cals per package, they are -just- freeze dried fruit. The volume is good for the calories and its just fruit, but way more portable. These are GREAT for traveling).

Ry-Krisp or Wasa crackers, spread with a laughing cow wedge and topped with some cucumber slices or sprouts.

Fruit. Especially watermelon or fruit salads. Yum!

*a square of gourmet chocolate (~60-75 calories), I'd much rather portion control the good stuff rather than eat an entire bar of the funky-tasting reduced fat/sugar "chocolate".

*celery & carrot sticks with either PB or low-fat ranch dressing

*CLIF/LUNA/FiberOne Bars (varies from 140-280) - for when I'm really on the go, these are great -- not artifically-tasting at all and not overly sweet.

*Berries, whether straw-, rasp-, blue-, black-, etc. - all are delicious and are pretty low cal (~40 for a good handful or two)

*Yogurt (100-150) - great with berries or a little cereal on top

*Triscuits/Wheat Thins - particularly love the rosemary/olive oil triscuits (~100 calories for 5 crackers)

*Tic Tacs or Breathstrips - ok, not really a snack, but really good for chasing away cravings when I'm not really hungry -- at 1-2 calories each, I take about 2 and the rush of cool mint leaves my mouth clean & refreshed (and not wanting to put anything else in there, since it'll most likely taste funky mixed with the mint).

I really like Newman's Own high protein pretzels! There are 22 pretzels in a serving and they have a bit of protein and more fiber than the regular kind.

Some of my other faves:
Fruit (apples, blood oranges, bananas, apricots, etc.)
ww torilla with a bit of PB&J rolled up
Rye crackers with hummus or low-fat cheese
1/4 cup pistacios
celery with PB & raisins (frogs-on-a-log anyone?)
hard boiled egg
